I love when I get to do heavy singles for all three lifts. And I'm not talking fat dudes that are looking for fun in my area, either. . Vid 1: working up to a #mockmeet opener for my squat, an easy 225 followed by 230lbs in Vid 2. I did it twice more after that since I didn't like the feel nor the look of this one. Vid 3: An easy 115lb for bench which I followed up with another single at this weight then 120 just cause. Vid 4: My dead lift anxiety is back and bigger than ever. I have been struggling mentally with these for a few weeks and it's eating me up inside. I know this will pass as it always does but when 275 used to be my easy openers (hell, I prepped it out a few weeks ago!) and I couldn't hit that this week, well, that hurts my heart. Actually making my lifts this week!
Just got home from class but wanted to really quickly post my excitement that I HAVE HIT ALL MY LIFTS SO FAR THIS WEEK. Yes, I am only halfway done with the program for the week but I made my 87% on back squats (new 5 rm PR) aaaand the 80% on last week’s clean complex that I failed last week! Normally I would expect to be making all of my lifts but seeing as its the last week of our Basic Strength program, the intensity has shot WAY UP. 
Also we’re doing a mock meet on Monday so I can test my new maxes for snatch and C&J. I’m pretty sure Ill hit my snatch goal but c&j is always a little iffy...(translate: I fucking hate jerks). Anyways, Im excited with my progress. Hoping to hit some actually decent numbers that I can take home with so I can try and convince Cal Strength that Im actually worthy of lifting there lol.

I MADE IT. . Week 70. My #mockmeet went... okay. I was freakin' travelling in TX, forgot to pack chucks AND headphones. I had to go buy some of each so I could attempt new 1RMs. Squat and Bench went up but Deads went the way of the travelling lifter. Maybe this new strength block! . Vid 1: 3/4x3 Paused Deficit Deads @ 68% (it was 3x5 @ 75% right before). @hybridperformancemethod mock meet today. I'm not going to lie, I was dreading this. I usually go into these max tests super excited but today I was more anxious than I had ever been. . However, I stayed conservative and was really quite pleased with my effort! Went up (all be it small) in every lift and proved to myself that 300 was totally a repeatable thing. . Squat (vid 1): 242lbs, the smoothest it has ever felt. Bench (vid 2): 125lbs, I have been stuck at 120 for several blocks. This was a huge personal achievement for me. Dead (vid 3): 300lbs. Today's menu was working up to my #mockmeet openers. My #squat plan was 225lbs and once there I did a few singles to play around. . I know a lot of people rag on others for #videotaping themselves and while it can seem very arrogant or vain, #filming yourself is actually one of the greatest tools an athlete can utilize, #horseback riders especially. My arenas and gym area don't have mirrors, I can't "see" how things feel. What might feel good or normal in the saddle and under the bar could be absolute crap when I actually see it. I get this feedback from my students also. "I am doing it!", "My upper body IS back!", "I have so MUCH outside rein!". I tape them for a few minutes in their lesson and let them watch. They are always so surprised and more willing to work on it next time. . So, I taped my first attempt at 225 (first video). I'm glad I did because I wasn't happy with it. If I didn't, I wouldn't of had the chance to correct it or try harder. I taped the last single and was happier with the result. This is also true of the opposite, when things feel like shit... tape it. #todaysworkout was wicked quick, working at only 65% in the #mainlifts so I spent more time focusing on my stretching. Not only did it prepare me to power through several horses but it will keep me from getting too stiff for my #mockmeet tomorrow!
