How-To Design Car Signs For Your Pool Company
If you use a fleet vehicle as part of your business, take advantage of the mobile advertising opportunity. Use car signs to grab customers' attention and build an easily-recognizable brand for your business. As your company vehicles travel between locations they have remarkable exposure, and if you're on the road anyway, why not capitalize on it? Car signage builds trust with your clientele and creates a professional and polished business identity.
Pool companies usually have a fleet of work vans and trucks that employees use to transport products. Adding business signage to these vehicles is a great decision. Although they are work vehicles and sometimes face harsh conditions, car signs are designed for outdoor use, and displaying your company's name helps customers quickly identify your vehicles. Before you start designing your sign, decide where you want place your signage and the size you need. Measure your vehicle to determine the correct size.
roll-ups Svendborg
Knowing what size you will be ordering will be very helpful when designing your sign. The most-effective tactic for pool company advertising is to show off the great work and expertise of the business. Take professional photographs of the backyard oasis you helped to create, the designer pool you installed, or the sparkling and refreshing water that is crystal clear. You can use these images in your car sign advertising as well as on your website and print advertising.
In terms of color scheme, accents your business logo and brand colors. Blue is a popular color for pool companies as a representation of the crystal blue water, but add-in other colors to make your signage unique. Highlight your services, business name, and contact information with a contrasting color like bright red, white or black. The goal to creating a readable sign is to use contrasting colors to help your text stand out.
It's not hard to find a sign material that fits your needs. Car decals can withstand outdoor exposure and are your best option for long-lasting vehicle signage. They are a great choice for full-size van panels. You can also add car window decals using to your rear windows one-way vision vinyl for a full-color advertisement that is see-through from the inside. These products are more visually-interesting and increase your marketing reach. If you are looking to advertise on personal trucks, car magnets are easily-removable and offer a very professional look.
To grow your business and increase your market, it's crucial to convey your expertise and build your brand. Car signs are an inexpensive and easy way to promote your business effectively. Your work is worth talking about, so use that as the focus of your car signs and you'll quickly see results.

hi!! im working on a story that takes place at a 2012 public high school - the issue with that is that i was not in high school in 2012 lmao. do you have any tips on how to keep it feeling realistic?
Well, neither was I!! But here are some tips:
Define Your General Setting
Sure, high school has a different feel compared to an average town/city setting. However, it is still a part of the bigger community, and will be impacted by external factors.
What part of the world are your writing about? What's the general economy like? What's the most common occupation of the kid's parents? What's the prevailing fashion/art/music style?
Your teens will be impacted by the popular culture and trends of the time, so start by outlining the general setting!
Fashion
I think this is where schools have changed the most. There are going to be some overlaps between early 2010s and late 2000s, so if you think in the direction of Y2K fashion, it should fit.
On a general note, I think 2010s fashion was vibrant, with lots of colors and flashy items...
Side fringes and backcombed/straightened hair were still very popular
most girls had huge messy sock buns on top of their heads
boys had the Justin Bieber cut.
Jack Wills and Hollister were pretty popular, and a lot of girls had a Paul's Boutique jacket and a Jane Norman bag for their PE kit (or one of the Hollister bags with a topless guy on).
Converse were universally cool, and there were lots of imitation brands.
Open flannel shirt over a t-shirt was a pretty popular outfit.
Skinny jeans and band t-shirts
bright chunky rubber band bracelets.
Vans were cool among the alternative kids.
Getting different colours on your braces was cool.
Most of the boys had at least one of those t-shirts with the buttons and the mismatched cuffs.
School-uniform-wise, short ties with big fat knots were cool, and hard kids would pluck a stripe or two out of their tie.
Tucking in shirts was initially not cool, then it became cool to tuck at the front but not the back.
Lots of boys wore black trainers, and lots of girls wore those ballet pumps.
Girls doing their lips with their foundation, with a thick ring of black eyeliner and spidery clumpy mascara - and having a visible orange line where your foundation met your neck was common.
Multiple ear piercings were popular with the alternative crowd
Belly button piercings were big for girls
Just search up some pictures on Google, you should get plenty of "Early 2010s teen fashion starter pack"
Social Media
Smartphones were already popular, and with the introduction of Snapchat(2011) and Instagram(2010), the social media hype was just starting to boom
Facebook and Twitter were popular - basically everyone was on it
TikTok(2016) and Discord(2015) didn't exist yet
Pictochat
Phones were allowed in the classroom, but phones/laptops weren't an important part of school work like it is now.
Digital Devices
Phones-wise, most people had pretty basic dumbphones (although they were just called mobiles back then), and not everyone carried them all the time
Blackberry (BBM), Nokia, LG Cholate, iPhone if you're rich enough
Most kids were on PAYG phones, so you'd run out of credit sometimes (i.e. no more calls or texts) and have to go to a physical shop to top up. Nobody really had data, and there was always a moment of panic if you accidentally opened the web browser on your phone because it was so expensive. Wifi became a thing around 2012.
Nintendo DSes: Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Nintendogs
iPods or another MP3 Player
Slag
Slang-wise, Urban Dictionary is a good resource.
Fleek, peng and YOLO were popular with some crowds. Leetspeak was a thing online, especially in nerdy communities. Emoji were starting to take off
rawr" (or "rawr means I love you in dinosaur") and "xD" as a laughing face
Music
One Direction, Jedward, Katy Perry, Carly Rae Jepson, Justin Bieber, JLS, Little Mix, Beyonce, Paramour, My Chemical Romance, Bring Me The Horizon, Black Veil Brides, Ke$ha, Eminem, The Killers, OMI, Gotye, Bruno Mars, Macklemore, Skrillex, deadmau5, blink-182, Green Day, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Lana Del Rey.
Fandom Stuff
Twilight was huge, then Hunger Games.
Harry Potter was everywhere all the time, people would go to midnight releases for the books and movies.
High School Musical was popular, then that crowd migrated to Glee and Mean Girls.
The Olympics were in London in 2012
Other Stuff
Reese's peanut butter cups, Marshmallow Fluff, Nerds, etc.
Veganism wasn't well-known, but still there were a few
Lots of casual homophbia, kids jsut genuinely not knowing rather than truly hateful towards it
Here are some movie suggestions, that shows school like in early-mid 2010s quite well:
Easy A
The Duff
LOL
For YA Novels - Be Timeless
Before you start doing any of the things above, remember this if you're writing a YA novel: The key of this genre is to feel somewhat timless, taking readers back to their high school years no matter when and where they've gone through it.
High school is the phase where many people feel awkward, unsure of themselves, feeling special in their own head but knowing that they're not really.
And it's not like the problems just disappear when we hit adult life. A major reason why YA novels are so popular is that they address themes that are repeatedly felt by the general human being, often in a such a direct, straightforward way that provides vicarious satisfaction.

just the thought of carm buying you a brand new “milf mobile” is so hot, like you’re pregnant with teddy and he’s making sure this suv is gonna fit everything plus be safe. maybe even a mercedes benz or land rover 🫣
you refuse to get a mini van, making a joke about how one will be more than enough lol. but carmen wants something bigger and safer. spends hours researching the best "mommy mobiles". something safe and useful and something you'd like.
also the image of carmen attaching the car seat and he needs help pulling the seat belt through so he just goes "hands" and you help him is living rent free in my mind rn lol

Scientists uncover exciton behavior in van der Waals magnets
A research group led by scientists at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Brookhaven National Laboratory has uncovered details about the formation and behavior of mobile, microscopic, particle-like objects called "excitons" in a class of materials known as van der Waals magnets. Their work helps establish a picture of the complex relationship between the optical and magnetic properties of these materials, which display intriguing characteristics that could one day lead to brand-new technologies based on magnetism, such as information storage. The study is described in a paper published in the April 25, 2024, online edition of the journal Nature Communications. The researchers studied the crystalline material, nickel phosphorus trisulfide (NiPS3), using the National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS-II), a DOE Office of Science user facility located at Brookhaven. NSLS-II produces intense beams of X-ray light that are used to study a wide range of materials and biological samples, from battery compounds to proteins.

headcanon dump on leo’s coma and subsequent injury recovery (based on my recent post about leo’s post-coma voice here)
DISCLAIMER: i am not a doctor in any way, this is purely made up of my own ideas and research so there may be some medical inaccuracies
(due to the following post discussing comas, chronic injuries and other potentially triggering things such as vomiting and couching up blood i advise viewer discretion and encourage that you only read if you feel comfortable. thanks)
during the coma
raph stayed by her side for practically all of the three months, and he was the one who cared for her mainly - cleaning her gently everyday, feeding her and changing the water
mikey was in charge of preparing her food (it was just a mix of blended up nutrient ingredients to keep her as healthy as possible) which was served to her through a brand-new eye dropper which april had brought from the store, because they didn’t have a feeding tube or anything like that
sometimes (when they’d manage to find good money from casey and april doing odd jobs to people that lived in a small town a good few hours away) they would feed her formula as well as the general fluids as it can build muscle and provide extra nutrition
raph stayed with her for most of the time, but he struggled to talk to her as it made him too upset, and donnie also struggled to visit her on his own out of guilt for what had happened in new york, but mikey made sure to hold her hand and talk to her and read to her and sing to her, even when the others told him she couldn’t hear him (he didn’t believe them)
he even made her a ‘get well soon card’ which stayed on the side of the sink in the bathroom
mikey found loads of old books around the farmhouse and read them to her, and years later when they’re back at the lair and watching tv together an adaptation of one of the books comes on and leo frowns in confusion as she swears she’s heard this story before but has no idea where or when, just that it was read to her once but that she can’t remember when or who had read it to her (mikey is sitting quietly next to her and smiling so hard his face hurts)
the others could tell in the van that her leg was very badly damaged but they decided not to try and move it or wrap it up in fear of making it worse as they had no idea what the problem was
donnie and casey built handlebars all around the farmhouse as they knew that her leg was seriously damaged in some way and that she would have serious mobility issues afterwards
donnie made a cane for her as soon as he can as he knows she’d need it but april encouraged him, raph and mikey to decorate it for leo together as they were very distant around each other during the first month of their stay during the farmhouse
april found an old box of pens and paints from the attic and told them all to work together to design and decorate leo’s cane
they made lists of everything leo likes on paper and it took them practically the whole night to decorate the cane with colours, symbols and drawings, but it was the first thing that they all did together and it helped break the ice between the three of them
after the coma
she threw up quite a bit during the first few days of coming out of the coma due to how weak her body was and how overwhelming everything was
at first she remembered bits of the invasion in small pieces, and it slowly came back to her, but it took her at least two weeks to realise that splinter wasn’t with them and she got very upset about this as she remembered shredder before splinter
she sustained much damage to her throat during the invasion, which made her voice much deeper and more hoarse (like donnie said)
it caused her to breathe very noisily and heavily, which she found very humiliating and upsetting
she mainly ate soup/broth for the first few weeks after coming out of the coma due to the pain and difficulty that came with swallowing
she also frequently coughed up blood due to the throat damage which she also found embarrassing
(no one ever made fun of her for any of it, but she did think less of herself for it before raph talked some sense into her and reminded her of how close she was to death and how she needed to be kinder to herself, to which she replied with by telling him he should take his own advice since he’d been neglecting himself ever since the invasion, and after a few seconds of silence the two actually start laughing, though leo’s didn’t sound much like laughter)
none of them realised how dangerous it is for her to be lie down until one night where she suddenly stopped breathing for about twenty seconds, and raph almost broke his voicebox screaming to wake the others up (afterwards leo had to sit up whilst sleeping for a while, and raph always made sure she went to sleep first)
my personal headcanon is that her leg injury is due to a case of chronic patellar instability, which is in simple terms an unstable kneecap, which moves when you bend and straighten your knee
it usually causes pain and stiffness (and sometimes swelling) and a feeling of weakness and looseness and a buckling or locking sensation in the knee
it is not always a chronic condition, but i believe that in leo’s case it is due to the severity of the injury and how it was not really given the proper professional attention it needed soon enough, due to a combination of the invasion and everyone’s lack of medical knowledge (as surgery is available in severe cases of patellar instability, which i believe leo has)
she started wearing a knee brace and using a cane as soon as she could begin to walk around again (which is not straight away) and even then she was slow and unstable due to her injury but even just because the rest of her body was so numb and weak in general
although later on she won’t always be in constant pain so she doesn’t always wear the brace, she does keep the cane because it helps her (and doubles as a weapon in cases of emergency)
after she began to gain back some of her strength she begins some very slow and gentle physical therapy to help her body get back into shape
she lost a considerable amount of weight during the coma due to living off of fluids for three months and is actually slightly underweight when she wakes up, so whilst the others take care to slowly reintroduce real food to her, they make sure it’s full of nutrients and good stuff
also the painkillers she took for the pain make her gain weight too
by the time they leave for new york she is still using her cane and hobbling around, but she is stronger and faster than before, but running still takes a lot longer to get used to without her feeling like she’s going to pass out because of the pain
like i said before, she stops using the brace permanently after regaining her strength and slowly beginning to feel better, but she does have days where the kneecap moves too much and she can’t even touch it because the pain is unbearable so she uses it on and off for the rest of her life
however she keeps the cane (which her brothers decorated for her) and does keep taking painkillers like the rest of them forever (cause they’ve all got chronic injuries and pain together)

14. telling
Daava Kimbatuul had endured a great deal of pain and hardship since being "conscripted" -- aka kidnapped -- by the Garleans that had destroyed his entire clan, but everything before paled in comparison to being on the receiving end of Valens van Varro's particular brand of "encouragement." So Daava thought it was pretty telling of the deteriorating state of his mind that he was now hallucinating beautiful women with rabbit ears. Well, one of them, anyway. He was reasonably certain the other two were just because he couldn't get his eyes to focus properly.
A cool hand laid itself on his forehead, and the smell of wildflowers replaced the acrid stench of the gaol cell and his own burned flesh. With it, the pain that had been the only thing he could feel for days abruptly subsided, and exhaustion quickly rose up in its absence, swallowing him whole, before he could even dream of trying to speak.
The second time he saw the woman, he was lucid enough to realize that a) she was real, and b) she was viera, though markedly paler and more delicate than the few rava women he'd met in his life. This time, she brought water, and he honestly could have kissed her if he'd had the strength to get up from his cot.
The third time, he finally managed to force out a few words while she changed his bandages, his voice sounding rusty and strange. “Nhaama must have sent you.”
She paused for a moment in her work, blinking in surprise, then the tiniest ghost of a smile touched the corner of her mouth. “No, not quite. I'm Linnaea.”
He wanted to ask her so many questions – where she was from; why she was here, when no one else had ever been sent to tend his wounds;if she could tell him anything that had happened since he had angered Valens so badly by (stupidly, in retrospect) confronting him about Millisandia’s fate, immediately after the loss of the Ruby Weapon.
If she knew if the Warrior of Light who destroyed it was a xaela girl, with green eyes and black hair, who bore his clan name.
Unable to muster the strength to do so, he closed his eyes on a ragged sigh, hearing her say “it's nice to meet you, Daava,” before falling back into unconsciousness, with no time even to wonder how she knew his name.
Slowly, every time Linnaea came to visit him, his strength returned, his body healing. And slowly, a few quiet questions at a time, he learned things. She was Bozjan, drafted into the military for her skill in the healing arts a few years before the destruction of her city – which, by his math, made her older than him, though she did not look it. She was responsible for the care of Valens’ prisoners, meant to restore them to health so that they might once again make themselves useful to Garlemald and the VIIth Legion. She knew little about the ongoing war effort, except that she had heard rumors of the mobilization of the incomplete Sapphire Weapon.
On the topic of the Warrior of Light, she was silent.
In return, he told her of himself – how he had escaped the fall of the Praetorium only to be taken across the Ghimlyt Dark to Terncliff, trading Gaius and the XIVth for Valens and the VIIth. How he had gone from medic and blacksmith's assistant to the Weapon Project, seemingly based solely on the fact that he was au ra. How he had proved unsuitable, incompatible with the Oversoul system, and found himself on the receiving end of Valens’s rage and frustration.
How he had felt responsible for the death of the raen girl chosen to pilot the Ruby Weapon in his place.
He could not have possibly guessed how many days had passed like this, when one day he woke with a hand over his mouth, voice murmuring so low that only he could hear: “I need you to get up and come with me. There's no time to explain, but if you trust me, I can help you.”
He had opened his eyes to find large, beautiful green ones, like the forest canopies of Nagxia, staring down at him with a determination and steeliness he had not seen in them before, and he nodded. His muscles were weak and atrophied, the burns that covered nearly his entire body only partially healed, but with her help, he managed to stand, leaning heavily on her shoulder. She gently looped one arm around his midsection, a steady trickle of healing aether leeching through the connection, as she supported him and they slowly made their way out of the gaols.
The closer they got to the main part of the base, the louder it became – shouted orders, boots pounding against steel walkways, the occasional burst of gunfire. The route that Linnaea half-dragged him along was mostly deserted, but one time the voices got too close for comfort as his legs were close to buckling beneath him, and she pulled them both into a supply closet and closed the door. Grateful for the brief reprieve, Daava leaned against the metal wall, fighting for breath. The lack of space forced Linnaea to nearly press herself against his chest, the trickle of healing aether from her hand increased to a torrent as they stood together in the near-complete darkness. For perhaps half a bell they remained like that, until his curiosity finally overcame his exhaustion.
“Who are you? Really, I mean.”
He felt more than saw her shake her head. “Everything I have told you has been true. I am here to help you, I promise. Everything else needs to wait until we get out of here.”
Daava had never been particularly good at holding his tongue, but something in her tone made him believe she was serious. And he had no reason not to trust her, other than the fact that she was Garlean. If the past few years had taught him anything, it was that even in the empire, there were still good people, though they were often forced into terrible positions. So instead of press her for more answers, he grinned and changed the topic. “If we get out of here in one piece, I’m going to have to repay you somehow. How about you let me take you on a date?”
The absurdity of a half-dead Garlean conscript flirting with a woman who was either his captor or his rescuer was not lost on either of them, and Linnaea chuckled at his audacity. It was the first time he had heard her do so – a low, soft sound, warm and lovely in ways he couldn’t describe.
He wanted to hear it again.
Instead, she cocked one large ear towards the door and nodded, as in confirmation of something to herself. “I think it’s safe to get moving again. Let’s go.”
The brief rest had helped somewhat, but it wasn’t long before Daava was stumbling over his own feet again, fighting to stay upright. Everything blurred into a haze of exhaustion and pain until a loud voice called out a sharp “Stop right there!”
It took a moment to realize the accent was not Garlean, but Eorzean, and that at some point they had emerged into the open air of Terncliff itself. As he did so, Linnaea lifted her chin and stared the man down. “Linnaea Galanthus, of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. I need you to take a message to Cid Garlond, and tell him that I have the Warrior of Light’s brother.”
Shocked mutterings and whispers rolled through the small group of – Ala Mhigans, he thought? – but none were as surprised as Daava himself. A scout bolted away as a huge crash erupted in the bay below them, and Daava watched in a daze as the enormous Sapphire Weapon ceased to move, floating dead in the water, like a slain sea monster. A small man-shaped figure, made of metal with a glowing sword, danced across the surface of the waves.
This was, Daava thought numbly, the absolute strangest day of his life.
Before he could marshal his thoughts into anything approaching enough order to process what he’d heard, the confirmation of a long-held suspicion that he’d barely dared think on, for fear of being wrong, a small dark form came sprinting across the blue and white cobblestones to launch itself squarely into his chest.
He rocked back on his his heels but managed to stay upright as he registered a stream of rapid blubbering in Nagxian-accented xaela, too fast and too muffled for even him to make out the meaning of, as brown, freckled, black-scaled arms wrapped too tightly around his waist.
“Gods, are you trying to knock me over?” he gasped out, and then ran one hand over her hair, swallowing down the lump in his throat as he did so. “Aw, Saree, don’t cry –”
Sarani – Marzanna, he reminded himself, gods he would never get used to calling her by her adult name –stepped back just a little, glaring up at him through tears, her round face twisting in annoyance the way it had ever since she was too little to talk, following him around on the beach all day. Her cheeks were a little less chubby than the last time he’d seen her, but she was no taller. Her hair was longer, he could tell she was stronger, and he noticed several new scars, but aside from that, she was as she’d been the last time he’d seen her, before they’d lost everything and everyone. She was, in essence, still his baby sister.
“Shut up, stupid, you’re crying too,” she grumbled at him, but she did loosen her grip a bit and took some of her weight off of him, though she absolutely did not let go.
Daava reached up and rubbed one eye with his hand, surprised to find that it was, indeed, wet. “Alright, you got me there.” After a long moment of silence, he shot her one of his trademark stupid grins, only slightly wobbly with emotion. “How ya been, kid?”
For a moment he wasn’t sure if she was going to yell at him, throw him into the ocean, or start crying even harder, but then she wrapped her arms around him again in a hug and mumbled, “I’m so glad you’re alive,” into his chest.
She let him go as abruptly as she’d grabbed him, leaving him reeling from emotion, and promptly grabbed Linnaea’s hand in both her own. “Thank you. I can’t – you have no idea how much this means to me. I can’t believe you actually found him.”
The viera simply squeezed Marz’s hand with her own and smiled, a full one this time, her voice incredibly gentle. “I told you I would, didn’t I?”
“Yeah. You did. I’m sorry I ever doubted you.”
Focused as he was on his sister, Daava didn’t notice the darkness encroaching on the edges of his vision until it had narrowed dramatically, moments before his knees buckled and he pitched forward. He was dimly aware of both women keeping him from hitting the ground, and then there was nothing, but for the first time in a long time, he welcomed it. For the first time in a long time, he slipped into unconsciousness with the knowledge that he was actually safe.
