"Mika is very aloof, blunt, and not that expressive. He sees things in a very cut and dry way. He has a hard time forming relationships with others. Even when he tries to observe the world/s and the people around him he often thinks he does not fully understand things since he has trouble empathizing with others. I'm Not Dead 2: Summertime Blues Edition

I realize now that it's been a little bit more than two weeks since I last posted anything. Fear not, for I am not dead! I've just been busy with a couple of things, one of which is the Iron-Blooded Orphans post (It's going swimmingly, I'd say).

I've also gotten neck-deep back into Lancer. And by that, I mean I've started drafting up Lancer homebrew stuff. Diving through the history of mecha (specifically part six, which is named after the iconic frame trait of the Horus Manticore). Maybe one day, I'll post some of the stuff that I'm working on here, but I'll give everyone here a small teaser: I'm basing a lot of my homebrew off of shows like Gun x Sword, Iron-Blooded Orphans, and Back Arrow.

I also have family visiting, so that also makes things a little bit hectic around here. So if you don't see me posting for the rest of the month, chalk it up to either family stuff, working on the IBO post, or getting lost in the weeds with Lancer homebrew.

Anime of the Day: Otaku Elf

The Takamimi Shrine, which honors the local deity Elda, a mythical elf called from another world, has stood in Tokyo for more than 400 years. The family who summoned the immortal elf has been serving her for 15 generations, and now Koito, who has recently turned 16, will be responsible for carrying out the responsibility of handling Elda as her shrine maiden. However, Koito must do this while also completing her regular schoolwork. But there is a problem: Elda is a complete introvert who enjoys video games, collecting toys, watching anime, and feasting on snacks.

If you haven't already heard of it, there's a videogame series called Super Robot Wars, a massive mecha anime crossover with strategy RPG mechanics.

IBO was featured in the latest game, SRW30, as DLC, with Mika, Shino, Akihiro, and McGillis as playable units, but without most of IBO's storyline (Tekkadan is from a parallel reality in this game), which means that there's a decent chance that IBO's storyline might still show up in the next game. Witch from Mercury was not featured at all, since SRW30 came out in 2021; with its popularity, it's almost inevitable that it will be featured.

To wit: I'm not saying it's *guaranteed* that Mika and Chuchu will appear in the same game and team-up, but there is a surprisingly decent chance of it happening in the next few years.

I think that they would be besties.

Jason Scheier, the production designer for Transformers One, noted that the red energy trails that D-16/Megatron displayed was a reference to the same red berserker eyes & energy trails displayed by the Gundam Barbatos Lupus/Lupus Rex from Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans (2024)

I am now going to talk about it. (There will be spoilers for Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans)

Gaelio did everything he possibly could to save Ein, going beyond human biology. Eventually, Ein is left as part of Gundam Vidar. He is there, but not human anymore, as represented by being in shadow.

After this is done, Gaelio swears to take revenge on those who left Ein this way, even adopting the name Vidar (Norse god of vengeance, according to minimal internet searching). (Also interesting to note that Vidar is named after a god while all other Gundam frames are named after demons)

It is also stated in the show that he spends ALL of his free time maintaining and tuning his mobile suit. Clearly he truly cares about this thing that everyone else only knows to be a soulless machine.

When Gaelio fights, he states that he and Ein are perfectly in sync. Sharing the same name, they ARE one being.

But Ein is not human anymore. He never truly will be again. Gaelio can not be with him, thus the physical separation in the artwork and Ein being in shadow. The only way they can be connected is through this Gundam.
