Jiang Cheng fans assemble!
Gather round and I will tell you the reasons why if you love this bad bitch:
Tumblr media
You will adore this sad bitch:
Tumblr media
A.k.a Why Jiang Cheng fans need to read Yuwu right now!
♡ First off, Jiang Cheng and Mo Xi are essentially the same person:
Noble, first born sons.
Same hair
Similar traumatising elements within their families. E.g. dead parents, elements of parental infidelity, periods of being very sad within their childhoods.
♡ Secondly, both get their entire worldview completely blown up, trashed and shit on by the narrative.
Jiang Cheng's pride over his achievements being damaged by the golden core reveal.
I'll only describe Mo Xi's vaguely because I'm trying to convince people to read Yuwu and there's heavy, heavy spoilers involved. BUT he basically risks his entire life to find out the truth about something and is under an Oath that will turn him to ashes and tear him out of the circle of reincarnation if he breaks it. When he does discover the truth it devolves into some of the hardest-core self-loathing I've experienced in a danmei I am certain Jiang Cheng fans will eat up.
♡ Thirdly, I originally bought Yuwu myself because Ximang was suggested to be Wangxian coded. They're not. In writing this post I have realised Ximang is actually a pimped up version of Chengxian. If you ship Chengxian, Ximang is the payoff you didn't know you needed or wanted. Allow me to explain
Ximang are plagued by thoughts that neither is good enough for the other, but Mo Xi is infatuated with the idea of building a home for Gu Mang. He wants to be his family with all his being.
Ximang will happily risk their lives for the other.
Ximang have all of the feelings but none of the communication skills.
If as a Chengxian shipper you are into the idea of Jiang Cheng being jealous of Lan Wangji, but Wei Wuxian being all in about Jiang Cheng, Ximang will absolutely scratch that very specific itch.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk, now please go and read Yuwu.

i love the way meatbun writes couples. she creates a manly, traditional, masculine man with well defined moral code and strong sense of values then puts him next to a younger guy who looks very composed and respectful to everyone else. the younger guy is waiting for him in a closet made of glass with his horny gay thoughts and 20 cm schlong. now you're the babygirl of this dingus

I feel like what gets me most about Yuwu is Mo Xi tries soooo hard to take care of Gu Mang when he lives with him. There’s this charade of prisoner that he has to follow so people believe him but like. He tries so hard to make things good for him. He has him do some work like the servants but it’s nothing super difficult or painful for him. He lets him keep his weird doghouse thing because obviously Gu Mang feels safe there. He lets Gu Mang sit at his table and eat with him and even cooks for him… and then when he won’t sit at the table any longer he makes sure half the food meant for him goes to Gu Mang. So Gu Mang is always eating the same meal that Princess Mo Xi is eating. He lets him hang out and keep his dog around. He brings him around everywhere with him for “supervision” to let him get out of the house.
The thing that absolutely sent me was when Gu Mang stuffs himself and Mo Xi just starts rubbing his stomach to make him feel better. Like I’m sorry what 😭 my lord is rubbing the prisoner’s tummy cause he ate too much?
He’s just soooo tender with him, like he literally does as much has humanly possible to make this man feel good and happy given the terrible circumstances that they’re in. He might honestly be one of the most tragic danmei characters I’ve read because he literally is just so stupidly and irreversibly in love with him this man who betrayed him and doesn’t even remember him and is sentenced to death and he literally canNOT stop himself from loving him despite everything.
