NEW RELEASE: MARVEL'S LOKI: ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK - SEASON ONE 3XLP
Mondo, in conjunction with Hollywood Records, is proud to present the premiere physical release of composer Natalie Holt's Emmy®-Award nominated score to MARVEL STUDIOS’ LOKI Season One. The incredibly talented, classically trained multi-instrumentalist brought an immediately noticeable unique musical flourish to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the main title theme ‘TVA' (also nominated for an Emmy®). From the jump, the propulsive, bellowing synth and melodic strings carry this high concept sci-fi story of timelines and multiverses to emotional depths with delicate precision. "I had an idea for the look of the sleeves, inspired by the opening credits from the TVA theme in Loki’s logo in black and white, and I’m thrilled with how Mondo and artist Anne Benjamin have taken my concept and created such epic and beautiful Loki inspired artwork,” says composer Natalie Holt. “I really hope people can turn down the lights, open their ears and enjoy interacting with this Loki vinyl set!” Pressed on three 180 Gram colored vinyl discs (also available on 180 gram black vinyl) and housed in a slipcase featuring an all new illustration by artist Anne Benjamin.

You Cannot Kill Mondo. Meet MUTANT.
The Wrap:
Last March, Funko laid off a significant amount of Mondo’s staff — including founding members — less than a year after purchasing the beloved collectibles label from Alamo Drafthouse.
Former Mondo creative directors Spencer Hickman, Eric Garza, Mitch Putnam and Mo Shafeek have reassembled at Mutant with CEO Jenny Jacobi. They’re being joined by cofounding partners Tim League (Alamo Drafthouse founder and executive chairman) and Steven Demmler, CEO of Talon Entertainment Finance.
According to the official release, “Mutant will work closely with studio partners including Disney, Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, Legendary Pictures, and Netflix as well as independent filmmakers, composers, and creators to expand and deepen their audiences’ relationships with the films and series they love via beautifully-rendered limited-edition posters, soundtracks, and collectibles by the world’s best artists. The company will build on this artist-forward foundation of collectibles for beloved licensed properties to also introduce original works from an international roster of visual artists and musicians alike.”
I was hoping this crew had something similar in mind. So, so dang excited to see what they come up with.
The website for Mutant is here, and you can sign up for their mailing list — which I could not do fast enough! — here.

Get ready for the reunion of your slumber party dreams. On September 26th in Los Angeles, we're teaming up with Alamo Drafthouse and Birth.Movies.Death. to celebrate a new vinyl reissue of the JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by getting the band back to together. And we do mean literally.
The epic reunion screening tailor-made for superfans of the smart, funny and legitimately rocking 2001 film will unspool at LA’s famed Ace Hotel. In person, it’s the film’s brilliant co-directors/writers Harry Elfont and Deborah Kaplan, along with Josie and Alan M. themselves, stars Rachael Leigh Cook and Gabriel Mann. PLUS singer Kay Hanley, front woman of ‘90s band Letters to Cleo and Josie’s singing voice in the film (no wonder that soundtrack is so killer).
Before the film, Kay and the band will *actually* rock the house with a set of JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS songs. You read that right. Yes, this is real life. And, after the credits roll that night, the whole gang will be live on stage answering your burning questions.
Tragically under-appreciated on its original release, JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS was dismissed as just another lame comic-to-screen cash-in aimed squarely at teens (who couldn’t have cared less). But the film was actually a cinematic Trojan horse, a scathing satire on consumerism, pop music and the very genre of comic-to-screen teen movies. And, thanks to a cracking script, an all-star cast giving it their all, and a soundtrack that’s way more rocking than it had any right to be, JOSIE is an enduring big screen pleasure.
And of course, our vinyl edition of the soundtrack will be available for purchase at the theater.
“Re-issuing the soundtrack to JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS has been a holy grail for us,” says Mo Shafeek, Mondo Record Label Manager. “Even though the band doesn't technically exist, it falls on our list of essential debut albums and deserves to be treated as such. It is an absolute honor to reissue it on vinyl for the first time ever.”
So what are you waiting for? Grab your tickets to this totally jerkin’ night. Cat ears optional, but entirely encouraged.

MONDO INVITES YOU TO PEEL BACK THE LAYERS OF THE GLASS ONION SOUNDTRACK ON VINYL
Austin, TX – December 12, 2022 – Mondo, in partnership with Netflix and Cut Narrative Records, is incredibly excited to present the vinyl release of Nathan Johnson's brilliant score to the latest Benoit Blanc mystery GLASS ONION: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY, debuting on Netflix on December 23.
Audiences who were lucky enough to have seen the film during its special theatrical sneak preview have already discovered that this highly anticipated sequel is nothing short of epic - and much of that is due to the gorgeous, sweeping score by Nathan Johnson. Johnson keeps intact the delicate balance that made KNIVES OUT such a clever score, never undermining the danger that is around every corner, but also brings an intoxicating romanticism to every gorgeous landscape. It’s playful, and sinister all at once.
Tumblr media
"This release stands confidently next to previous Nathan Johnson vinyl soundtracks in our catalog,” says Mo Shafeek. “Housed in an appropriately ‘layered’ package featuring prop replicas and easter eggs, this is an essential collectable for fans of Rian Johnson's on-going mystery series."
The package, carefully constructed by Jay Shaw and Mo Shafeek, pays homage to the film's central mystery in multiple ways. Pressed on 2x 140 Gram Crystal Clear vinyl, and housed in a die-cut jacket, with an acrylic o-card, and multiple inserts, the GLASS ONION soundtrack on vinyl will be available for pre-order at MondoShop.com on December 14 at 12pm CT.
In the follow up to Rian Johnson's smash hit Knives Out, Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) travels to Greece to peel back the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of colorful suspects. Returning to the franchise he began, Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Rian Johnson writes and directs Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and assembles another all-star cast that includes a returning Daniel Craig alongside Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline with Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista.
When Rian began writing Knives Out, he asked Nathan to create a unique sonic palette for the world inhabited by debonair detective, Benoit Blanc. Inspired by murder mysteries of a bygone era, Nathan turned to slippery woodwinds, dissonant pianos and eventually the jagged string quartet that would go on to become the film’s audio signature while simultaneously redefining the sound of the modern mystery.

“AKUMAJOU DENSETSU for MONDO”
I got the pleasure of working on the Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse Soundtrack vinyl art. If you’ve played the game you know Dracula is the final boss and his second form is a giant brain with a bunch of heads attached to it. Only instead of demon heads I’ve placed all four of the main characters in the brains tendrils.
Sypha is the girl with the hood, Alucard with the slicked back hair and fangs, Grant with the bandana and eye patch, and Trevor with the long hair and headband.
Coming some time in March so more updates to come. I also did the back cover and interior so check back for more updates~
Thanks to AD Mo Shafeek and Rob Jones!

Classic Video Games 'Contra' and 'Castlevania' Get a Design Facelift
Contra and Castlevania are two of the most iconic video games in history, and both recently got brand new poster art and soundtrack LPs from Mondo, a record label and gallery that specializes in collectibles for classic and contemporary movies. As Mondo's record label manager Mo Shafeek tells Creators, commissioning artworks for standalone screen-printed posters and the soundtracks was refreshing, given that the company has mostly worked on film and television soundtracks for many years. For Mondo, these two new sets of work are designed to appeal to anyone with a special reverence for classic video games from the 80s.
Mondo's Creative Director Eric Garza tells Creators that the posters came about after he got a sneak peek at the soundtrack art. Garza and Shafeek, who were fans of the artists behind the soundtrack work, Eric Powell and Sachin Teng, felt it was a no-brainer that the art could translate into posters.
Eric Powell's 'Contra' poster.
"Eric Powell actually did the artwork for our second title in our Castlevania series, Simon's Quest, and after seeing the results I knew I wanted to get him one other title right away," says Shafeek. "His artwork for Contra is incredible. His cover illustration captures the tone of the game perfectly—the original 80s art for the game was always evocative of Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger in their Rambo and Predator prime, respectively. But the characters of Bill and Lance have since developed into their own over the course of many games, so we were conscious of giving them a unique representation in our artwork."
Powell's work on the Contra vinyl release and poster is impressive. The vinyl release in and of itself is a work of art, from the front and back sleeves to the record itself and the gatefold, which depicts one of the game's alien entities.
The front sleeve of the 'Contra' soundtrack, by Eric Powell.
The back sleeve of the 'Contra' soundtrack, by Eric Powell.
Garza describes Teng, creator of the Castlevania poster, as an incredibly talented and thoughtful artist. When he and Shafeek saw Teng's concepts for the Castlevania poster, it immediately evoked an illustration one might see in a shop window or arcade advertising the game.
"I'm really happy we were able to include the Japanese text for the variant," Garza notes. "That idea of making this feel period authentic was important to us and Sachin really nailed the execution quite flawlessly. This is one of my favorite posters of the year so far."
Sachin Teng's Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse.
In addition to the poster and soundtrack art from Powell and Teng, Mondo made a Castlevania pin available at Comic-Con. They also displayed a statue at their booth, which will be made available for pre-order at a later date.
Garza says many of the people at Mondo grew up playing Castlevania, and have a soft spot in their hearts for the game. For him and many others, the game still holds up incredibly well with its gameplay, design, music, and characters.
'Castlevania' glow in the dark pin.
'Castlevania' pin packaging.
"It's all still so strong and has had a lasting influence over an entire generation of people," says Garza. "It's incredibly exciting that the title is now seeing a bit of a resurgence with the new Netflix series, which was great. The statue [sculpted by Matthew Black] is something Brock Otterbacher, Mondo's creative director of toys/collectibles, has been working on for a while and it's been a real treat to see that come together."
Front view of the Alucard statue inspired by the classic Konami game 'Castlevania: Symphony of the Night', sculpted by Matthew Black. It depicts the half-human, half-vampire son of Dracula as an elegant yet ready for battle swordsman, with his cape revealing his three shape-shifter forms- mist, bat, and wolf.
