Pocky? Pookie? Pocky FOR Pookie

Yamcha and you decided to have a date, not anything crazy though, just a movie at home and some cuddles, because they are absolutely goated. Consider it the ideal Valentine's Day date (at least for the two of you). You had a trick up your sleeve though, you bought pocky for this very special day. Why? Well, your pookie here has never played! And you're gonna teach (lie to) him how to play. That's for later though, the movie comes first. It's a real classic you got right here, that time seems to fly by before the credit scene rolls.

Moving off the couch to grab the pocky, Yamcha shuts off the movie. Oh yeah, you didn't tell him about this part of the day, so it's a surprise. So terribly confused why you left his arms, Yamcha looks over towards your direction, "babe? What're you doin'?" You can't help but smile to yourself at your masterplan, "I'm going to show you the best part of tonight!" Finally making your way back over, Yamcha looks up at you and smirks, "I thought I was the best part of tonight?" Sitting on the couch you hummed in thought, "ok, the second best part of tonight." He silently cheered at becoming the best again.

Placing the pocky down in front of you for you both to see, Yamcha sits up. He looks down nervously at the box before looking back up at you. Grabbing the box again, you open it and grab a stick, before you can speak Yamcha starts to furiously wave his hands. "Hold on! You wanna play some child's game?" You replied in full confidence, "yes, I would like to play a child's game," panicking again he said, "I don't even know how to play! There's no point!" Laughing at his comments, you made another rebuttal, "then I'll teach you."

Still very nervous, Yamcha starts to pay attention to your words, "the game is easy. Put one side of the stick into your and don't break it," you began to put a piece of pocky up to your lips. "Bite until you get middle, if you kiss me, you win," sure it wasn't that big a lie, but you don't want him to get competitive and avoid affection. Nonetheless, it seemed to be a big motivator as he quickly took the other end of started to eat. Before you could even start, the candy was gone and his lips were on yours. It took a second to separate him from yourself, "you did it wrong!" It was difficult to hold in the laughter from his eagerness. "What? No! I kissed you, so I win." Shaking your head you explained, "I said bite to the middle, now it doesn't count." Saddened by the news he took out another stick, "again."

It didn't take much trial and error before Yamcha figured out how to match your pace. He pretty much 'won' every game after the first few. The box running empty was to no surprise either, Yamcha was determined to keep up his winning streak.

Funny after event! Yamcha bragged about his winning streak to Goku and Krillin. Krillin didn't feel like breaking the news to him and Goku got hooked on doing it with Chi-Chi. This led to the two casually bringing it up to Vegeta! Obviously not wanting to lose to Kakarot, Vegeta brings it up with Bulma. What does she say? "That's not how you play!" These three men were destroyed that day.

dear kevin. 

fuck, that sounds so formal and stiff. anyway, it's me. boo! you didn't expect that, didn't you? 

the reason why i decided to write those (yes, those) is... well, i don't know. i felt like doing it so i did it, you know me. 

i know you're colorblind. i thought... maybe you want to learn a little about colors. 

i'll start with red. god, it feels so weird to write such things. things that seem obvious. 

every child knows that an apple can be red, as well as blood or red rag. or a stop sign. 

for me red is something dangerous, yet brave. like red lipstick. or alarm lights. if red was a person, it would definitely be a woman. a femme fatale, if you will. strong, confident, making people angry. but a bit soft inside just like a red rose (don't forget about the thorns).

red is a symbol of love and energy. that's why all the valentine’s day cards are red and so are most of the fonts in commercials. to bring attention or show passionate emotion.

so kevin, be like red: confident, strong, brave yet at the same time full of love and soft.

Happy Hearts & Matching Outfits! #3

Late post! Sorry--this went up on Wordpress but we forgot to schedule it here.

It’s that time of the year again when both lonely and love-filled hearts come together to celebrate the Valentine’s holiday this coming week. Having engaged in this tradition of presenting matching outfits that make me happy for two years now, I’ve decided to make it a lasting ritual! So, here I am—posting while on break.

From For My Derelict Favorite on Webtoon, we have our main couple in a beautiful set of purple outfits. This love story is a slow burn, and it’s nice to see the planning for their couple outfit in the story itself. This is the chapter were our ML is really starting to get to know his wife and starting to care about knowing her. It is a cute and nice inclusion. I also love that these two have begun consistently wearing matching outfits as time goes on, mostly with purple as their primary color.

From I Will Fall With the Emperor (not officially translated yet) we have a great villain couple. They’ve been subtly matching for a while now and this is shown to be a thoughtful inclusion by the artist/writer because throughout the series, characters that want to be on the MC’s side are shown to change their style of dress to match hers. Seeing the two matching in the beautiful burgundy above shows them coming closer as a couple, and also fits their villainous aesthetic!

From The Promise on Inker (Chapter 19), we have a more modern ensemble choice for the same-sex couple in this particular scene. Unlike most of the series where the couple does not wear matching outfits, they attend this event in coordinated attire. The significance becomes apparent when we see that all the couples in the series appear in matching outfits of distinctly different colors/styles for the event. This act symbolizes partnership and, to some extent, ownership at that moment. Interestingly, the love interest is likely the one that selected the outfits, notably choosing a shade of purple that complements our main character’s eyes.

From The Male Lead’s Little Lion Daughter on Tapas, we have another cute matching outfit between a father and daughter! I mentioned these two before in my last matching outfits post of 2023, and here they are again dressed up in similar colors and styles for a day out.

(What if Socqueline was there in season 1?)

Heads up, with the recent episodes that aired and more development on Socqueline's personality and relationship with Marinette. We have a much better understanding of what she could be like in the show

Spoilers below

-Origins would pretty much be the same, It took the break to help Marinette... move on from what happened at the pool.

-The events of Origins happened the same way. Marinette becoming friends with Alya. Marinette becoming Ladybug, Adrien becoming Chat noir. The umbrella scene.

-But now we get into this change. Because now we add Socqueline to the mix. Marinette likely calling her older friend/ sister figure to let her know how things have changed. I.E. her new friend and possibly mention her knew crush.

-Now in canon it mentioned that Socqueline was busy with being in the new school so it is likely that she doesnt respond right away. So lets say a few episodes pass. For the sake of simplicity, lets say Dark cupid.

-Socqueline shows up to catch up with Marinette, Happy that she is thriving and meets Alya, the new best friend. I imagine Alya is curious on what marinette was like BEFORE she met. Socqueline would comment the over the top planning and posters were new. She never took Marinette for an adrien fan. While she herself is one. She would comment that Marinette is quite lucky to be in his class.

-Alya would piece together the hairstyle marinette had was inspired by Socqueline.

-Socqueline would explain that she is a family friend and looked out for Marinette. Not wanting to trudge up too many dark memories for Marinette doesnt elaborate much.

-Alya would reveal that he is Marinette's crush and he is in their class. Marinette would be flustered but confess it is true. Socqueline would make a comment about it being a definite step up from ... but before finishing the thought asking what she is planning (baiting a bit of the past)

-Marinette gets encouragement from both Alya and Socqueline. The Later being more cautious but seeing no harm in a valentine. Though She was surprised to see Marinette supportive of Kim's endeavors in confessing. She doesnt say anything, she simply keeps it to herself.

-Socqueline was there with Alya and Marinette, seeing exactly who it was Kim confessed to. I imagine her saying "That makes way too much sense."

-But aside from that, Dark Cupid resumes pretty much normal, with Alya getting hit with the loathe arrow and Socqueline and Marinette leaving to try and get help.

-Socqueline would probably want to meet this Adrien in person, see if he is on the up and up. Marinette seems to have moved on from what happened, and Socqueline decides its best not to bring it up if not needed.

-Another few episodes pass with the next one that she would appear and be prominent in Kung Food.

-Socqueline probably helping Marinette learn Mandarin as the girl struggles with it. A slight change being that Alya not knowing Socqueline is already involved, Called Adrien to help Marinette.

-Socqueline is happy to meet him as she is a fan. Adrien is flattered. Adrien almost leaves since Marinette has help, But Socqueline insists he stay, saying her mandarin could also use work (Its a lie, but she wanted to meet adrien.)

-So the episode continues with Socqueline in tow, but THIS is where drama builds. Because Chloé is there and starts criticizing the food choice. Which Adrien corrects.

-Socqueline in defense mode of Marinette after seeing Chloé. And Chloé isnt too happy seeing her either.

-"I thought I was done dealing with you." Chloé comments annoyed. "Still acting as her bodyguard."

-Socqueline looked ready to fight, but Marinette moves forward and tells Chloé that the judges will love her uncle's food and that Socqueline is here as a friend not a bodyguard.

-Socqueline is impressed that Marinette is standing up to Chloé now. Congratulating the girl on her new found guts. She also could see that Marinette's feelings for adrien were genuine and decides to give them some space while she keeps an eye on Chloé. Knowing that girl is up to something.

-Adrien explaining the respect Her uncle was paying to her by using the flowers she got in the dish. Its a cute moment.

-Socqueline catches Chloé sabotaging the soup and confronts her, saying that she is ruining the contest all to spite Marinette.

-"Oh, that. Its not to spite her. Its because his soup is lame. Picking on your mini you isnt as fun these days anyway. But maybe I should try getting creative again. might be fun."

-Chloé leaves and Socqueline tries to warn Wang that the soup got sabotaged.

-Kung food ensues, day is saved.

-Chloé loses her judge spot, and Adrien makes his cheeky comment to Chloé.

-Socqueline asks if Adrien knows Chloé, in which she learns that apparently he knew her from way back cause of their parents. Which Socqueline finds shocking. 1. Adrien is such a sweet person. 2. Marinette falling for a person that is friend's with Chloé?! after everything that happened? Socqueline goes to ask how this was possible

-Marinette says that Adrien tries to see the good in everyone, and that while she was skeptical, knows adrien has a good heart. Socqueline lets it go, and says she will trust Marinette on that. But she would be keeping an eye on Adrien. But mainly watching Chloé. Cause while Marinette may have grown up since she saw her last, Chloé is still a b****

-And that pretty much covers Socqueline's appearances for season 1.

top 5 fics you've written!!

Ooo, that's a tricky one! I'm only gonna consider finished Ao3 autonomous fics - there's so many WIPs in my folders, so many enticing ideas that haven't turned into real fics (yet)... I've also written quite a bit for the Magic: Expanded Multiverse project (Magic the Gathering fics, but keeping the worldbuilding roots and giving a wide berth to canon) and permutations of my own OCs there, but calling most of them - and especially my fave to write - fully autonomous fics would be a bit disingenuous, I feel. I'm still pretty proud of those, though.

So, without further ado and in no particular order, these are the 5 fics that come to mind right now when I think of being the best for me, in combined terms of quality and importance for myself and my growth as a writer:

Dragon's Blood: a classic fairy tale about princes, dragons and maidens fair... with a twist. I've had a lot of fun, experimenting with the narrative tone! The connection with the original media is practically nonexistent - a wink to a certain character of the aforementioned MtG fan project.

The Antlion's Den: A Naruto recursive fanfic. I have an undying appreciation for what @jumpingjacktrash did for me just by existing and posting his stories, so when I had the inspiration to make recursive fics of his work I jumped at the chance to... return the favor, in a sense? The Antlion's Den is the meatier of the two fic, featuring his OC being cute, my OC being a bastard and a bigass fight at the end... when he said it was the best recursive fic he had ever received it easily made my week - I still smile at the thought.

Farewell gifts: This is a shared spot with Breaking Point and Woven In, really - they are my first steps in the Miraculous "fanficdom", but while Breaking Point features one of my best tropes ever and it's my very first ML (and Loveybug!) fic, Farewell Gifts features the Mariwalker post-reveal scene I wrote in THREE DIFFERENT FICS (wtf) and most importantly it was the first time I tried to engage a sweet, adorable teenage romance on its terms - I'm way more used to write gritty fights, bitchy dialogue and angst.

Undercover: the first smut I publicly shared! It was so exciting, to explore this whole new genre, weaving fluff and smut with no further goal than indulging my writing itch! And the response was incredible, it gave me so much confidence to continue and eventually write Augmentation and its continuation, which I'm pretty sure I'll finish writing at some point. Speaking of long-awaited conclusions...

Are Hexagon Square Dances a Thing?: if you had asked me a few weeks ago, this wouldn't have made the cut. I was so excited to join in @asukiess's Valentine Week celebration of Loveybug, figuring out a way to use all the LoveyWeek prompts to build some sort of plot (with @mostmagical's amazing help) and daily posting was so much fun! ...until it came to a jarring stop. The very last chapter got stuck in my brain sideways, and it took me EIGHT MONTHS to get through it. It soured the whole memory of that delightful week for me, so I'm glad I was able to finish it. To keep with the First Times theme, this was the first fandom event I joined in my life! And except for that snag at the end, I had a grand time.

Timeline for my OC's ML AU:

When it comes to timelines, I prefer to play it lose. No specific dates outside the occassional holidays and character birthdays. Just vague mentions of how it happened in a certain month or season at best. For my fic BTaL, it goes for a 13 episode structure per season, like an anime. Each episode is around 30K words, give or take 5K. I estimated the story to be about a year long. Here's the draft of how the timeline is planned with some explanations for episodes that break the order:

Origins:

Early September, tail end of summer. It's the first day of school. Kept as a separate fic in both ff.net and Ao3 as this is meant to be like a special. An outlier from the seasons.

S1 Episode Slumber:

A flashback episode that happens across October. Shizuke and Blair spent a month arguing. They were super stubborn. Mentioned All Soul's Day/Day of the Dead in one segment of the epilogue. Meant to establish that Shizublair had already been through a fair amount as partners during the 1st half of S1.

S1 proper:

January to May. Holidays that will be covered: Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and Japan's Golden Week, which Shizuke's birthday (May 4) falls right in the middle of. Plenty of mentions from Shizubug how he and Blaircat have been partners for four going on five and so on months cause the dork counts the days he's together with his partner. There's also Keagan's aunt getting married to their homeroom teacher which was explicitly said was gonna happen around Spring, and a Spring Beauty Pageant and maybe April Fools gets a referrence.

S2 1st half:

Covers June for Summer Vacation. They end their school year off screen between S1 finale and S2. There's a minor timeskip of about a week or two filled in within the first episode's montage on how the team adjusted to the changes post S1 finale brought - its a slow month of just these guys adjusting to S1 finale dropping a bomb on their lives. The twins' birthday (June 13) acts as a mid season finale.

N2CatS:

Set in late June, a week after the twins' birthday. It's the future side's defining event for N2CatS - set up as the reason behind their status quo shift in this fic that's changed a lot from where I currently left BTaL off. The story is meant to be a week long but each day is packed. I'm planning to slow or speed up pacing depending on the day. Its meant to be a mini series special, and can be read as a stand alone unlike the rest of the series. The only holiday mentioned here is the completely made up Helios City Founding Day.

S2 2nd half:

Set from July to August. I'm seriously considering splitting S2 into two separate stories in ff.net while Ao3 gets a disclaimer to read N2CatS first before reading this half of the season. This half is building up to enrollment as both heroes are confronted with whether they should stay in Xyril Tech or not. The start of senior high is a metaphor for a huge turning point - them deciding to stay or not can change everything. The subplot here will also shift focus to Fiona as her arc sets up S2's finale.

S3 Episode White Knight:

Another flashback episode. Most of it is set on Keagan's Birthday (August 21), over a week before S3's debut episode starts. This episode ends with an epilogue from Keagan's perspective that goes on until a couple of weeks after Heroes Anniversary, wrapping around S3's 1st episode like canon MLB's Multiplication wrapped around Destruction and a special. This explains the shift in Keagan for S3, which happened because of the end of Fiona's arc last season, hence the weird placement. It covers the last week before the 1st day of school properly starts and all the stuff Keagan arranged leading up to it, like how everyone on the heroes team are now on the same class and why Keagan is the class president instead of Shizuke. Much like the S1 finale, S2 finale brought another huge shift in the status quo.

S3 Proper:

Starts in early September. Going full circle from Origins, it's supposed to be the first day of school but that's delayed in favor of their current heroes' anniversary. Establishes that a year has passed since the heroes came to be. The season goes from September to early December. The Day of the Dead will be covered and it'll act as the start of the countdown to the finale. It was snowing in the finale, so it was definitely winter...

Side Notes:

This fic series doesn't have a Christmas Special. I just couldn't come up with anything fun for that besides this one skit I might just draw or write as a drabble someday.

Fiona, Natalia and Damien's birthdays are skipped. Nothing major happened so let's just say they celebrated in peace. Sorry for the other half of the cast.

I keep holidays to a bare minimum or use mostly made up holidays to justify events to avoid the same timeline trap canon mlb has.

Their own take on the Paris Special (Reverse AU Crossover) is considered. I'm not sure, I like it enough as its own thing and leaving it as scattered concepts. But if it were to ever happen in the series proper, I'd place it somewhere in early S3. Its mainly to better parallel the Ladybugs and Fiona. Prime!Fiona got to temporarily be Ladybug for S2 finale 2-parter, it feels more effective if this special happened after that as the Ladybug from the other world is Reverse!Fiona. This special feels more like Shizuke's N2CatS.

I've also considered a future sequel series but ugh at this point I'd just be happy if I could finish S1 and N2CatS at all.

Summary: It was a night before her wedding when a certain cat dropped by not only to say hi but also to ask about her future. 

It’s been years since Marinette slept in her old bedroom.

She was surprised that her parents didn’t replace the pink wallpapers, or even dared to remove the old Jagged Stone poster that was plastered near her old study table. Her outdated desktop computer was still there covered in a thick, white cloth, as well as her sewing machine that had pricked her fingers multiple times.

It was worth the pain, she thought fondly as she rubbed her calloused fingers, bumping the silver band of her engagement ring with a nostalgic sigh.

Aside from her old items like her mannequins, self-made teenage clothes, and textbooks that were boxed and stacked neatly to the corner, she also found some baking equipment and matching ceramic wares from China, which prompted her that her room has been transformed as some sort of storage. Yet despite it, her room was comfy and dust-free.

Glancing around, she noticed the faded squares that marred the walls. It reminded her of the photographs and drawings she used to tack there when she was in collège, and even though she removed all of it as soon as she moved out for université, the discolorations caused by the lack of light exposures were barely muted.

She might be in the mood of reminiscing the past, but she didn’t have the energy to take out her old belongings and poke on them one by one. Her Maman might scold her if she cluttered up the floor, and besides, she has an early appointment with the Mayor in the morning, and a garden wedding in the afternoon, so she couldn’t pull out an all-nighter and be a living zombie afterward.

After all, tomorrow is her big day.

But sleep was rather difficult for the young designer. It might be from the nerves, or the fact that she was sleeping on her bed alone, she wasn’t sure anymore. She didn’t want to disturb Tikki, her adorable kwami who was sleeping soundly on her pillow, for a midnight stroll, and the herbal tea that she was coddling wasn’t effective enough to lure her to bed.

After giving her blanket a second look, Marinette decided to climb to her balcony for some air.

The summer wind immediately kissed her exposed skin as she opened her skylight, then smiled adoringly how her flowery plants and ornamentals thrived under her father’s care. She also spotted her foldable chair under the still-functioning fairy lights, and her wooden centerpiece table minus the teapot set she often uses after a tiresome patrol.

It was a new moon, and the stars twinkling behind the cloudy Parisian sky were blending well with the bustling city lights from afar. She could barely see the bricked walls and the flying buttresses of Notre Dame from her spot, same with the ever-serene Seine and the empty alleyways near Rue Gotlib.

Such peaceful scenery wasn’t new to her, but the sight gave her a jab of memories that made her wonder the things she must’ve done in her past life to end up so lucky.

“Bonsoir, ma Purr-incesse.”

Marinette almost spilled her hot drink and hurled the cup towards the intruder’s face when a pair of strong hands caught her on time. Her bluebell eyes immediately trailed off from the curves of a familiar dark catsuit to the emerald hues of a blond man that were twinkling with mischief and euphoria.

“C - Chat!” she sputtered with a blush. “Y-You scared me, you idiot!”

“A-paw-logies fur that,” the superhero responded unabashed “But this cat was simply curious why a pretty lady like you was so lonesome tonight.”

She rolled her eyes indignantly “Still flirty as ever.”

“Just fur mew.”

“I’m taken, you know?” she raised her left hand to show him the ring “You can’t flirt with a promised woman anymore, Chaton.”

“Woe is me!” the superhero gasped, clutching his heart theatrically while balancing himself to the rails “And to think that you confessed your undying love to me!”

She couldn’t help but snort at that “You rejected me, remember?”

“But still!”

“Dream on, mon Minou,” she chuckled much to his chagrin. “To what do I owe this surprise visit?”

“Says the person who hasn’t been here for years.”

“What can I say,” the dark-haired woman shrugged, leaning her back to the balcony rails “I’m an independent girl who wants to live her life to the fullest.”

“Oh really,” he drawled with a narrowed look. “Then pray do tell why an independent girl like you is back to her parent’s house?”

“Because,” she scowled, mustering all of her strength not to push the blond and let him plummet to the ground. “We want to stick to the tradition that the groom must not see the bride a day before their wedding.”

“By kicking you out of your house?”

“Okay, first of all, this is also my house. My home,” she emphasized without giving him the pleasure of seeing her irritated face. “And my future husband has to stay there and maybe, I dunno, enjoying his bachelor’s party - which I believe, his best man is now plotting his murder - or having a beauty sleep?”

“Hmm. Your future husband sounds like a handful.”

“You have no idea.”

“So tell me, Purr-incess,” he asked with his back touching hers. “What made you decide to accept his proposal and spend the rest of your life with him?”

“That’s a very tough question, Chaton,” she admitted. “Aside from being a handful, he has a very bad sense of humor.”

“Ouch.”

“He puns a lot too, and there’s this pick-up line he always uses to piss me off. Oh, and he didn’t know some adulting stuff like cooking and doing the laundry. I even had to teach him how to use the microwave!” she chuckled as she narrated the disasters that happened in her relationship. “He has a horrible sweet tooth and cries like a baby at stupid rom-com movies. He’s a neat freak. He spends too much time in the shower, and he hoards the blankets during winter. He’s literally a child in an adult body.”

“Yet despite his imperfections,” she went on, tilting her head towards the sky with a smile. “He makes me happy.”

“I’m sure you make him happy too,” the feline hero muttered, and even though Marinette couldn’t see his expression, she could sense the endearment on his tone.

The two remained in companionable silence as they looked at the night sky until Marinette yawned.

“Your bed is calling you now, Purr-incess,” Chat Noir chuckled, nudging her shoulders gently as he walked her to the trap door. “Why don’t you get your beauty sleep so you can sweep your Prince off his feet tomorrow?”

“You’re leaving now?”

“Oh my, is that an invitation, Marinette?” he wiggled his brows suggestively much to her annoyance. “As much as the offer is tempting - “

“Chat!”

“But I can’t risk my status and tarnish my name by such scandalous act. Don’t get me wrong - you’re an amazing girl, and I’m an awesome man. I mean, you know, I would marry myself if I could.”

The designer flashed him a deadpan look “We’re not talking about that shit.”

He pouted “You’re no fun, Purr-incess.”

After downing her almost cold tea, Marinette slipped inside the room as Chat Noir took the cup and opened the trap door for her.

“Make sure to check your bedding for a pea.” the feline hero reminded her cheekily.

“Yeah, yeah…” she grumbled, then patted her bed sheets with a scowl when the superhero shot her a look. “Happy now?”

“Very.” he flashed her a toothy grin, and with a saucy wink, he lowered the door. “Bonne Nuit, ma minette.”

Before he could shut it closed, she called out to him “Chaton?”

He poked his head inside “What is it, Purr-incess?”

“Thank you,” she smiled earnestly. “Thank you for being there with me all the time. For the hardships and trials. For joy and devotion.”

His green eyes were unreadable as she continued “Thank you for the patience and understanding, and I know that sometimes - no, most of the time - my stubbornness drives you crazy, but you still remained by my side. Through thick or thin, I must say, even though I don’t deserve it at all.”

“You are worth fighting for,” he assured her. “You deserve everything, you deserve the world.”

“You deserve everything, too.” she said as she yawned again. “I think that’s it for tonight. Bonne Nuit, Chat Noir.”

“Erm, Marinette?”

“Hmm?”

“You’re the best thing that ever happened in my life,” he confessed in a somber tone. “My first for everything - in love, in relationship...and now that we’ll be facing a new chapter in our life, I would like you to know that...that I am blessed that you chose me to be your partner.”

She bit her lips to control her emotions. “Sounds like your vows, you’re supposed to say those to your soon-to-be wife.”

“Well,” he rubbed his neck cutely with flustered cheeks. “I’m afraid I might stutter and blank out during the ceremony, and I don’t think flash cards are allowed at the altar, so I’d rather recite my wedding vows before I forget everything.”

“You’re ridiculous, you know that?”

“You mean ‘your ridiculous’?”

Chat Noir barked out a laugh when he dodged a pillow thrown to his way. “Hey, that’s domestic violence!”

“I hate you, Adrien!”

“Love you too, My Lady!”

Their teasing banter went on until dawn, and by the time Sabine walked upstairs to wake her daughter up, she screamed bloody murder at the sight of the two love birds cuddling in each other’s arms, and soon the two would realize how late they were for their civil wedding, and how absurd they would look on their photos as they sported a matching eyebags and dopey smiles.

Disclaimer: I wanted to anchor Marinette’s magic in Wiccan as opposed to “Hollywood witchcraft”, but I’m Christian. I tried to do my research, but I also know I’m taking a lot of creative liberties. If you notice any glaring misrepresentation of Wiccan, please let me know.

The two jogged back to The Liberty. Their laughter scared away the gloominess of the day, instead igniting the encroaching storm. Energy sparked between them like lightning, and balled up inside Luka's legs, pushing him forward.

“Luka?” Juleka was still above deck when her brother returned with Marinette in tow. “Marinette? What are you doing here?”

“Hey, Juleka.” Marinette huffed with a smile, trying to catch her breath. “I'm not entirely sure. Luka just wanted me to follow him here.”

The two girls talked a bit more, inquiring what Luka's surprise was, but he ignored them, sprinting to the sound booth his mother built below deck. He stopped just long enough to grab the neck of his guitar before sprinting back up the stairs.

“Luka, your guitar?” Juleka bolted up from the crate her and Marinette were sitting on. “Are you sure that's a good idea?”

“Jules, watch this!” Luka again frantically strummed the guitar strings. He shifted from a manic and plucky song to a depressing one in a minor chord. Then he shifted again to a few aggressive chords as he headbanged along with the beat. He shifted again to an ethereal-sounding melody.

Juleka tried to peel the guitar from him, but he danced away from her, spinning out of her reach as he continued to play. She chased him up and down the bow of The Liberty, begging him to stop, and asking if he had lost his mind.

“Juleka!” Marinette's hand caught her arm; freezing her. “Juleka, it's okay! Look! His music isn't affecting me. It's lovely - even with the abrupt and sometimes abrasive style changes - but it's just music to me.”

“It's just-” Juleka brushed her bangs off her face to properly study Marinette. It was true. Luka had switched over to a slow lullaby, and yet Marinette was on her feet, fully awake. “How?”

Luka stopped and tapped his new choker. “Marinette figured it out. We're descended from Sirens. She gave me this charm to absorb the magic so I can just play or hum or whistle or sing! You can too, Jules, if you want.”

Juleka whipped back towards Marinette, who simply nodded.

“Oh, that reminds me.” Marinette shifted to look at Luka instead. “You are going to have to cleanse the choker every month. It's null magic, so you need to hang it in an east/west facing window, or exposed to open air normally touched by moonlight whenever there's a new moon. If you forget then the magic may not work as well, or even at all, until the next new moon you remember to cleanse and recharge it.”

“New moon. Got it.”

“I can't believe this. You did it? You actually figured it out?” Juleka ping-ponged between Luka and Marinette.

“Do you want me to make you one too?” Marinette asked.

“Uh.” Juleka blinked a few times, trying to register the significance of the question. She walked over to Luka, and slowly brushed her fingers against his new charm. When she looked quizzically at Luka, he nodded reassurance. “Can mine be a kitty-unicorn?”

The other two laughed, and Marinette wrapped her arms around Juleka's shoulders. “I don't recall ever hearing of a kittycorn Animal Guide, but I could look into it. I mean, I know that both cats and unicorns separately could be Guides, so I don't see why there can't be some combo of the two.” Marinette uncurled from Juleka and quickly calculated. “Let's see, for you, there's the cat traits of protective, aloof, independent, and strong. Also, cats tend to tie into the supernatural, which you seem to enjoy. As for unicorns, let me think. Of course they symbolize innocence, but also good will, gentleness, those pure of mind, and freedom. And well-” She gestured to The Liberty. “So, yeah. I'll have to research and meditate on it, but I might be able to make a kittycorn work.”

“Really?” Juleka again stole a glance at her brother, who gave her a supportive smile. “Thank you. Thank you, Marinette. I need to let Rose know.” Juleka gave a soft hint of a smile as her eyes lit up. She leaned in to quickly brush a kiss on Marinette's cheek, and then jogged below deck to fetch her phone.

“That's really sweet of you, Marinette.” Luka sidled next to her as they both watched Juleka disappear down the stairs. “And clever too, figuring out how to combine components like that.”

Marinette's shoulders rose to try to hide her faint blush. “It's nothing. It's what I do, and she's a friend.”

“What did I say, Marinette? Amazing.”

Her blush deepened, and she played with her earring. “It really- I'm not- Amazing? Really?”

“Completely. Come here.” He held out his hand, which she readily accepted. He then walked her to the front-most part of the bow. Clearing off the large case his mother's keyboard was packed in, Luka motioned for Marinette to take a seat. “There was something else I wanted you to hear, now that you properly can. Is that alright?”

“Mmhmm. What is it?”

“Remember when I told you I heard a song when I think of certain people, such as you?”

Marinette fidgeted, and fought against her smile. “Yeah.”

“Well, I'd like to play it for you, if you'd like.”

“R-real-really?”

“Mmhmm.”

“Yes. Yes, please. I'd love to hear it.”

Luka sat down beside her, and picked at a few soft notes. Then a few louder, braver ones. Single notes turned into complex chords as the music danced off the strings. There was a subtle grace, and while the song itself seemed simple at first, when Marinette watched Luka's fingers, the true complexity showcased. The melody was joyful, but also a little lonely and sad. For Luka, it still wasn't quite right. It wasn't precisely Marinette, but it was as close to the music in his head as he could create at that moment.

The more he played, the more entranced Marinette got, but that had nothing to do with his power. She was hypnotized by the movement of his fingers, and the serene sound of the melody. She leaned back, her eyes closed, as she absorbed every note. Each one sounding so familiar to her. So accurate.

Soothed by the sound of her own aura, Marinette tilted to her left, and rested her head on Luka's shoulder. He glanced down at her, leaned his head against hers, and continued playing. He played Marinette's song to her, then he played the one that reminded him of his mom, and one of Juleka. He played the song he heard whenever he thought of a father he didn't have anymore. He played her his hopes and dreams. He played her music until the storm finally rolled in.

Supernatural AU! And not the show SPN. Luka is descended from sirens. His music tends to put people under a spell (not the throw yourself to death kind though), so he goes to his favorite charm shop from the cute witch that makes charms to dampen the affect when he plays. Pre-relationship so while Luka is still calm and cool, you can tell he's still stupidly love sick.
