Prologue Here

College AU - Set within a college from another realm for mythical creatures/monsters.

It is forbidden to love a creature who is not the same species. (But, they can form friendships.)

Our reader is a 5’ 3” earth healer fairy, younger sister to Johnny (a chaos fire fairy).

She is nicknamed ‘Tiny’ by Bucky.

Bucky is a 7’ werewolf, leader of his school wolf pack.

Tiny & Bucky take the same ‘Creature History’ class where they later end up being paired up for a project.

maybe i’ll draw this later but i thought i’d share some mythical being au with yall (keep in mind this is a mythical au so i don’t really bother with realism lmfao)

I think Mrs Curtis would be a nymph-I head anon she was a nature lover who was soft but had a bit of a bite to her. Maybe a forest nymph-I have an idea in mind where she kinda has a “true form” that was really big (think greek god?) since she was kind of a forest protector in a way? It’ll make more sense when I draw it tbh

Mr Curtis was a gargoyle. In my headcanon I think Mr Curtis was this huge, scary looking guy but he was absolutely just a goofy sweetheart under all of that-he was pretty big too but not in the same way-he was bat like in a way? He had huge bat wings and claws and such but underneath all that he’s just a silly guy

Darry is kind of like a centaur but instead of a horse it’s a gryphon-I think gryphons were fairly big so I think he’d be quite big too (weren’t there stories of gryphons being destroyers of cities? He’s that kind of big but he doesn’t destroy shit lmao-he uses his size to his advantage and it also helps him clear ways for new construction. Mr Curtis taught him how to fly too, also lions and eagles remind me of Darry so-he also has sharp teeths. Also instead of smacking Pony, simply because of his size I feel like he just…recklessly picked up Pony and squeezed him a bit too hard and only realized when he saw Pony struggling to breathe and that was when Pony ran away

Sodapop is a centaur. Pong said it himself that Soda reminds him of a palomino colt so of course Soda is a palomino-sometimes when he laughs he falls onto his back and just kicks his hooves lmao-also horses know how to walk as soon as they’re born so Soda was pretty much running around from the moment he was born. He takes great pride in his tail and hair and lets people brush it-girls flock to the DX just to brush his tail-sometimes he lets little kids braid it if they want too!

Pony is a cervitaur-basically a deee centaur. He’s an axis deer-they’re known for their speed and agility (they can run up to 45 mph and jump up to 6 feet high so this obviously helps him in track)-he likes to style his hair so his little antler nubs are showing but when his antlers actually grow he’s so prideful about it it’s not even funny. He’s kinda like bambi in a way, when he was a baby he had such a hard time walking and when he goes through growth spurts he does too-it’s also just funny because his name is Ponyboy and he ended up being half deer

I really like kraken Johnny-just Johnny being some gigantic creature but being the most quiet and nervous is just funny to me. His scales are valuable too so maybe that’s why he gets jumped a lot. I know Oklahoma isn’t known for its water sources but just pretend with me that there’s a huge lake somewhere that he just chills in-when him and Pony run away he swims in the river. He’s always dreamed of going to the ocean but he’s kinda just stuck in Tulsa. He’s fairly huge though so it can be tough, but he swims through rivers to get to where he’s going. Darry being the size he is even made a sort of moat leading to a lake by the Curtis place. (I know it’s not realistic but bear with me)

Dally’s a dragon for sure. He’s a shifter in a way? Like Mrs Curtis he has a true form and a semi human form, he’s a huge dragon though when he is in his true form and he’s definitely caused…a number of things (jails) to be burnt down. It got to the point that the west side had to haul in fireproof things because Dally would just try to escape. Johnnyme the only one who can stop him from burning things down and just spits water at him to make him stop (another reason Johnny is a kraken because opposites attract I guess-) but Darry also has to wrestle him sometimes because he’s sick of having to rebuild things Dally burnt down even if he does get paid. Darry’s basically Tulsa’s version of Fix It Felix lmao

Two Bit is an imp. I don’t know how to describe my thought process but he’s just an imp. He’s silly. He’s goofy. He does reckless shit-he’s just this little, nimble imp with dragon wings and horns-Imps aren’t evil, they’re just mischevious and like to play pranks. Just like Two Bit. He can be smooth when. he wants to be though. He likes to jab people with his horns. He’s just goofy like that. I feel like when he’s mad his voice kinda gets deeper since they technically are devils in a way-his teeth also get sharper and he has claws. His eyes kinda glow too and his pupils slit. It’s scary. Think do when he snapped at Johnny’s mom when he was in the hospital.

Steve is a werewolf. He’s got that dog in him 😔 I think he’s always have sort of wolfish features, like sharp teeth, kinda slit pupils, maybe he even keeps the ears and/or tail (this is a stretch but idk lol) but whenever it’s a full moon you’ll know it evacsue he’s gorging on all kinds of meats and his shifts can be rough. Especially the first few. I feel like if he’s really really REALLY emotional he’ll shift a little bit too? Like it’s not confined to just full moons but he can’t will himself to do it either if that makes sense. I just think this is cool

Werewolf Brody and vampire Calvin love to poke fun at each other.

Brody's a little too affectionate with Preston or literally anyone in their friend group? Calvin's first reaction is to call him a lap dog.

Calvin hisses at Brody when he tries to hug him? Brody calls him a kitty cat.

They're best friends, but they're always making fun of each other, so people outside their little group think they dislike each other when in reality they love each other.

There's tons of play fighting between Calvin and Brody, but also between Brody and Levi (that one's just brothers being brothers)

I don't know if they would still be rangers in this AU, but it would be hilarious if they were.

Literal doggo behaviour I tell you XD BUT YES YES and YES. They should definitely be Rangers in this AU, because 1: ranger drama. and it'd be hilarious to see them trying to keep TWO secret identities (unless the mythical creatures one isn't secret??) and 2: aNyBoDy CaN bE a RaNgEr. Taken to another level. imagine the chaos.

The grand halls of Velmythria Academy felt a little too vast for someone your size, the marble walls etched with ancient runes towered over you. A faint light pulsing from them. Velmythria– a place for all creatures, including those far bigger and fiercer than you, had been your home since birth. Born an earth fairy, your wings shimmer a soft emerald green upon your small frame, and you were the smallest of the fairy kind. 

     You effortlessly glided through the hallways, slipping between the Vampires, Sirens, Giants, and other creatures crowding. However, something felt different in the air that day. 

     Pushing the heavy wooden door, your wings fluttered slightly as you entered the ‘History of Velmythria Creatures’ class. Rows of seats climbed high up the walls, an enchantment casting over them to accommodate each student– The varied sizes, and needs of all. You had always enjoyed this class, hearing the tales of the ancient realms, the forgotten wars, and the lost creatures you only knew as myths. The classroom buzzed with recognizable languages, guttural growls, and other higher-pitched chirping.

     And then there he sat– Bucky Barnes.

     He took up almost the entire back row, the chairs although enchanted, were made to look laughably small against his broad frame. The werewolf stood seven feet tall and ran as the alpha of the Academy’s resident wolf pack. His thick, unruled hair seemed to have a mind of its own, and his blue eyes pierced as they scanned the room. The weight of which could make even the most confident of creatures uncomfortably shift in their chairs. 

     Your wings fluttered as you searched for a spot, every seat feeling impossibly large until you spotted an empty chair. Second from the back, just a row down from Bucky. The sight of him was enough for you to pause. As he sat slumped in his seat, the fabric of his shirt stretched over his shoulders. His elbows propped on the desk, large hands that were no match for the delicate stationery the academy provided. 

     His presence was impossible to ignore, yet you have never spoken to him. He was always in the background, silently commanding attention. 

     You settled into the seat before him with a soft breath, closer to him than you’d usually dare to be. The air around you thickened as you sat, trying to ignore the heavy and lively charge surrounding you and focus on retrieving your notebooks and pens. 

     The professor’s scales shimmered under the dim lights, an ancient dragon shifter, as the lecture began. The topic of the day was written across the chalkboard: Forbidden Bonds. A subject you’ve always found fascinating. Although, it was hard to focus, especially with the warmth radiating from the wolf behind you, making you hyper-aware of the space between you.

     As the lecture progressed further into the topic, a faint crack echoed in the air. Glancing back toward him, you were just in time to see the pen snap within his heavy grip. His brows furrowed in frustration, staring down at the broken plastic. Without a second thought, you reached into your pencil case, pulling out another one of your opens. 

     Carefully you slide the pen– a small, woodland-themed one with illustrated mushrooms printed on the sides towards him. A strange shiver shot up your spine as your fingers brushed against his. His skin was callous yet warm, and in that moment, you heard him– a rumble, low and deep within his chest. Barely audible, it was almost a growl catching in his throat causing your wings to twitch into a flutter.

     His attention shifted, his gaze heavy on you as you dared not to look. There was a long pause, neither one of you moving. But then, slowly, he took the pen, thick fingers holding it like it was fragile. You watched out of the corner of your eye, him testing the pen by scribbling a few lines on his paper. It looked almost absurd, his large hand accompanied by the cutesy design, and yet he did not comment. He simply just… used it.

     Trying to refocus on the lecture, you couldn’t help but notice the pounding of your heart against your chest. Your thought drifted back to that brief moment of contact, and the way his quiet rumble vibrated through your entire body. His concentration was unwavering, yet from the small glimpses you caught, his grip was more careful now. It was as if he was being conscious of his own strength. 

     You wondered if he had noticed, sensed, how flustered you were. However, as the professor brought the lecture to an end, Bucky stood. Pocketing the mushroom pen without a word and began leaving the classroom. He never looked back at you, but the weight of his large looming presence lingered around you. And, it wasn’t until you heard his heavy footsteps fade away down the hallways that you finally let out a breath. A breath you didn’t realize you were holding onto. 

     An inexplicable pull toward him unsettled you. How could one small, accidental brush of contact begin to stir something inside of you? It made you question the rules of the realm, and how unbreakable the boundaries between creatures could be.

Mythical Creatures AU: The Story of Miracularia

Here’s the official backstory of my Mythical Creatures AU! Hope you like it! @imsparky2002 @booksrbetterthanpeople @nerdy-chocomallow

Stories say that it didn’t used to be this way. That the people of two worlds, now kept so distant from one another, used to be one. Tales of long past tell of a time where the human race and the Mythofolk lived in harmony with one another. No fear, no hatred. Friendship and peace. Whether this is truth or fable, no one can say for sure. No one who could remember such a time is alive today, but the stories tell of it nonetheless.

They tell of a golden age of joy and prosperity…but then tell of how everything changed.

No one knows exactly what caused the change, the shift in ideals. A single event or several that happened over time. But the consistent truth is that humans began to feel hate. They grew to fear those that they had once embraced as friends, for being different from them. They resented the Mythofolk for their power, power humans could not hold themselves.

And so it began. Wars were waged, and hatred ran rampant. Mythofolk were hunted down in their homes and in the streets. Bonds of trust, friendship and even love were broken. The world wasn’t safe for the creatures of fable anymore.

But one day, a brave young elf discovered something, something that could save them all. While running from the humans pursuing him, he ducked into a waterfall and discovered something. A portal. When he stepped through it, he found a beautiful world, untouched by humans. He knew he had found something special. A refuge and new home for the Mythofolk.

Word of the portal spread quietly but it spread like wildfire, aided by magic. Within weeks, all of the remaining Mythofolk in the human world had fled to the newly discovered dimension. When they were certain every last creature had safely escaped, the magic users sealed the portal and covered the lands surrounding it in protective wards. Safe from humans at last.

The Mythofolk made a new home and life for themselves in the gorgeous lands they had discovered. Within months, everywhere from the sky to the seas were populated. They could live in peace at last. There were still conflicts, of course, that’s only natural. But nothing to the scale of what drove them to flee to this realm.

Because of its discovery seeming almost…miraculous, the Mythofolk agreed on the name for their new home: Miracularia. And the rest is history…

Cerauno - Dragon Swapfell Papyrus

Personality: A stunning and strong papyrus. He can be fairly intimidating and commands a room. He takes his profession very seriously and cares profoundly about others. Furthermore, he does not hesitate and is quite protective of his loved ones. He uses his wings to shield others from the rain, as magic allows him to do so. He goes for the throat in arguments and takes exceptional care of others. He enjoys helping others. He may be quite harsh when it comes to leading and defending people. He takes wonderful care of the youngsters. He can easily win most fights.

Appearance: He is a skeleton. He has faded blue eyes. He has a large burn scar on the left side of his face that takes up nearly the entire half. He has wings and a tail (though, he usually keeps them hidden), and horns.

In dreams, he appears as a blue-scaled dragon. In reality, he appears as a skeletal dragon that seems to be able to shield others from the rain with his wings.

Cerulea - Owlbear Swapfell Sans

Personality: A very rigid and severe skeleton. He has a short temper and faces issues head on. He goes for the throat and is extremely difficult to beat. Furthermore, he is quite patient and smooth in his actions. He watches out for others. He also maintains a placid demeanor, making it difficult to tell if he is upset or not. He appears to be friendly and fun. He is regal, polite, and to the point, although his speech is often abrupt or overly pleasant. He doesn't sugarcoat things and despises lying since it bothers him. He will go to any length to protect his family, including fighting his brother if necessary.

Appearance: He has many burn scars on his bones. He has a prominent one on his neck. He has three scars on his left eyes. He has sharper claws than most. He has wings.

In dreams, he appears as an owlbear with scales that has various vines and flowers growing. In reality, he is a skeleton owlbear, and he has vines and glowers growing on his scales.

Luceras - Phoenix Fellswap Papyrus

Personality: He is forthright yet polite. He is willing and capable of fighting you in order to protect someone he cares about. He does his best to care for his loved ones. He goes for the throat and is willing to fight hard. He is shy and rarely initiates a conversation. He is both flirtatious and honest. He adores his siblings and friends. He enjoys taking care of his loved ones. He is quite sweet and prefers sugary and spicy foods, which suits his personality. He has a tendency to be aggressive toward people he perceives as threats. He is easy to get friends with, but difficult to keep as a friend.

Appearance: He has a large, nasty scar on his right eye that leads down his chin. He has multiple scars on his bones. He has wings. He has red eyes.

In dreams, he appears as a beautiful phoenix. In reality, he appears as a burning skeleton phoenix.

Incedis - Griffin Fellswap Sans

Personality: A very courteous but brutal skeleton. He has a gruff appearance, but he is polite and dignified. While he despises it, he is capable of being extremely manipulative towards anyone he perceives as threats. He is quite protective of his others. He is a compassionate soul who loves his younger sibling. He will battle anyone who sees him as inferior. Unless he is concerned about harming a friend or partner, he is usually harsh and blunt. He takes his role as a guide extremely seriously. He has a sour personality and will be hostile to those he perceives as threats. He dislikes it when others challenge his authority.

Appearance: He has a small scar on his left eye and a large nasty scar on his neck. He has various scars on him. He has wings that he hides.

In dreams, he appears as a phoenix-like griffin with a lion. In reality, he is just a griffin with flames on him.
