Any plans to watch the new ML special?

I'm not even pretending anymore 😂 None at all.

I never even finished S4, and after all the bullshit I've heard/seen regarding S5/S6 I just...I am living in my happy Lukanette corner. "Canon" is the darkest timeline and I'm just not here for it. 🙃

(It's a very weird place to be in with MLB. I'm a fan of what the show was and the potential it had, but I'm not a fan of what it's become. I used to think I would catch up with the "new" eps at some point, but I have no desire to anymore.)

If you were in charge of the specials, where would they take place? What or who would you introduce in that special?

Overall I'd keep the location for the specials we've gotten so far, and the characters we've met, because I did enjoy those. Though I'd make the New York Heroes be Miraculous-based, and have a lot less heroes in the city as well.

For the Shanghai special the only thing I'd really change is how/why Marinette goes to China. Because it was so OOC in my opinion for her to lie about her parents about why she wanted to go, especially when they had been saving up for it! Marinette doesn't like lying, and while she may have to lie about being a hero, her parents know she has a crush on Adrien! Mini rant over, but I'd either have Marinette directly tell her parents she wants to go because Adrien is going, or have Marinette actually want to visit her great uncle and connect to her roots. Just no taking advantage of her parents with fake reasons.

Paris Special would not change because it's perfect in every way. (JK give me an identity reveal between Hesperia and Claw Noir and more of the reverse world in general).

The recent London Special is the one I would completely revamp. I did enjoy the London Special, but it felt more like it should have been a two parter to open up season six rather than being one of the specials. I would have my version of the London special actually focus on and mostly be in London. Perhaps this could be where we meet Marinette's aunt for the first time, or maybe learn more about Felix's side of the family. Fu and Marianne could have appeared as well, which would have been fun.

I don’t know the official state of these other specials but I know there are/were plans for specials set in Rio, Tokyo, and Dakar; all of which I think would be fun locations to see.

If I were in charge of making new specials though it would be fun to base around some of my OCs. So most notably a Miraculous Portland with my Swan hero Levi (Tundra); and one based in Mexico with the Guardian of my Hidden Box, Xóchitl. I would probably explore Tundra being a solo hero in his part of the world, and the Hidden Box would be a great opportunity to introduce more Alpha kwamis.

Then places in general I’d like to see would be Specials in: India, Australia, any of the Pacific Islands nations would be cool, and definitely more from Africa. Egypt has a lot of canon Miraculous history already, then I plan to have OCs in Zimbabwe and Sudan, so those places could be fun as well. Then maybe somewhere up in the arctic circle; like Russia, Canada, or one of the Scandinavian countries.

So basically the show I loved is dead and gone. Well, I stopped watching after Season 2 anyway, because I didn't like where they were headed, and I was right, they ruined it entirely by turning it into fucking MCU multiverse bullshit.

And after that complete shit of a finale, with Adrien/Cat never confronting his father and finding out his nemesis was his father, or finding out he was the cause of his father's slow, lingering death, or Gabriel telling his son to his face how he did all that to save his mother, and hinting that Adrien isn't even human, and the entire planet being made over because of Gabriel's wish . . .

jeezus fuck.

And especially after ruining and then killing off my Gabriel, I don't have any reason to watch the series again.

But if I'd wanted to give it another chance, I see from that they're not even going to do it in the same animation style.

Bye bye, bug. I'll stick to watching Seasons 1 & 2, when you were sweet and fun.

There's been some new info about season 6 and the new Special episodes to come, but I haven't seen anyone talking about it on tumblr.

So I'm taking the liberty of making a summary:

Season 6:

-Sébastien Thibaudeau (the show's writing director) has announced that writing for season 6 is complete. There will be several new writers this season.

-Thomas Astruc has shared an image showing him working on the storyboard for a season 6 episode.

-I'm just coming back to something that was said several months ago since some people don't seem to know: All the animation studios that worked on seasons 1 to 5 will no longer be animating the next seasons of Miraculous. The series is getting a visual upgrade. And ZAG has shared a preview of the new sets for the coming seasons.

-Now we know that the new animation studio to work on the next seasons of miraculous is DWARF. This French animation studio worked on the Miraculous movie.

Special episode:

-The new special "The end of Ladybug" (whose name is only provisional) will take place this year before season 6 airs. This will be the last time Miraculous will be animated in the style we've known since season 1. (No word yet on whether SAMG will continue to animate future special episodes.)

-The dubbing of this special has already been done in English.

(Remember: just because an episode has been dubbed doesn't mean it's ready for broadcast. The dubbing can be done while the animation of the episode is not yet finished).

Other specials:

-Thomas would like the next special episode to take place in Japan.

-Thomas said he had already written the Brazil special episode as well as the Bible for a spin-off. He has also written many other stories in the Miraculous universe, but for reasons unknown to him, nothing seems to be moving to adapt these stories for animation or comics. He asks fans who would like to see these projects come to reality to put pressure on ZAG. (politely, of course).

-Thomas retweeted a fan who created a petition so that the special Tibet episode could one day be made.

-He also explained one of the reasons why Miraculous could not be animated in the Ladybug PV style.

He asks fans who would like to watch Miraculous with this style of animation to petition ZAG, Mediawan or Toei.

I may do more posts like this when I have new information, if you're interested of course (I'll never share spoilers or leaks, don't worry).

i am so so glad that this is how we get to say goodbye to the old animation: a heartfelt ladynoir rooftop scene where time stands still and it’s just the two of them, by each other’s side like always. even if everything else seems bleak, even if they don’t yet know how to overcome this new challenge, it’s still them against the world. and that’s what matters
