he may not realistically be in the battle for the drivers championship anymore, however that doesn’t at all minimise just how proud i am of all lando has achieved this season. 3 wins (including his maiden), 7 poles, 12 podiums, leading his team to first place in the constructors championship, securing the most points of any mclaren driver in history. and that’s just on track, off it i am immensely proud of his growth too, from being someone who always saw everything as glass half full and was always so hard on himself, to the way he now talks in interviews you can see his confidence and belief in his own abilities has come on so far (as it should). it’s so nice to see how far he’s come from the little boy who started out in f1 so many years ago. maybe this year wasn’t his for the championship but mark my words, his time will come.

im seeing that poll about learning cursive in school a lot on my dash and as a vietnamese im kinda bewildered bc what do you mean you cant read cursive?? because to us cursive is for capital letters only! the rest are normal letters. so ig our normal written letters are the american cursive, and our "computer" letters are your normal letters?

↑ these are the fonts we learn in school. The left are our normal letters, the right are our cursive. Oh and the thing is, these are the only fonts we actually taught a school, the "typing" font is just what we imitate from printed books. In elementary school we have "good handwriting competitions" where the participants write in the above fonts and are graded on how close it is to the table above. its like boring calligraphy

go ahead, criticise the costumes and makeup - i dont like them either. we can critically examine the origins of cheerleading, and the gendered relations of cheerleading vs other sports. but devaluing these athletes as merely women dancing for male pleasure is not feminist analysis and bordering on misogyny.

was in the middle of packing and randomly started thinking about hypdream and the concept of being able to level up your characters, getting skins with different stat levels and building comps based on abilities brought me to my knees like actually lmao

So the book club that I've been in since 2022 has 9 regular members now including me, and we have collectively read a total of 28 books together now. This month we put all of our book choices and the members' ratings of the books on an Excel spreadsheet, and have been having fun figuring out various trends and statistics and so on – what decades we have mostly read from, what countries, what genres, what our most and least highly rated picks were for each year, etc. I also thought it would be fun to use the spreadsheet on my own to figure out who rates things most and least similarly to each other in the club. What shocked me was that I found out that I scored the number one most similar/compatible rater to every single other person in the club except two (I was 2nd most similar rater for somebody and 4th most similar rater for the other). Also, apparently me and the guy who I scored least compatible with based on our ratings/taste have the top rated book selections on average in the club so far. I'm not at all sure what this means except that I just know from now on I'm going to have this secret semi-subconscious goal in my mind of inching my way higher in this one outlier book club member's taste compatibility scoring for 2025 hahaha

I'm happy about the third place for team germany but I’m even happier that it seems like nobody got seriously hurt and that they decided not to risk it for a second round. Crossing my fingers for better conditions for the quali and the rest of the weekend!

i just realised im a massive idiot

learnt that that Turkish shooter didn't win second himself, he won second with a woman in the mixed team event. He came 13th in the singles 💀💀 so, they're completely excluding the fact that there was also a Turkish woman, AND that it was DIFFERENT COMPETITIONS in order to try and say the man is a better shot.
