I just recieved an advertisement for religion and I am... amused (/derogatory).
Ah yes, let's give the demonic alter with religious trauma a message praising the thing that helped form it (/sarcasm).
It isn't any of my business what others do or believe in; I do not care as long as it doesn't hurt my headmates.
But I am... displeased with the irony.

Still haven't decided what I think of Gortash's relationship to his religion (or how to word it), but I'm going to try and babble about it anyway. For narrative reasons, I kind of want him to be the middle ground between my interpretations of my Durge (absolute blind, desperate fanaticism) and Ketheric (misotheist, in this for purely transactional reasons).
Like his ties to Bane are based in both transaction and faith: Bane's dogma is correct - or it's the gist of how the world "really works", at least.
"The world is made stronger by mighty and ordered rule" "Tyrannize and destroy the weak, so that all in time become better and stronger." "Laws and rules, not wanton chaos, should reign."
Yay, industry, let's get the giant machine that is society improving and running to standards. The gears of the world do indeed move according to the interactions between the powerful and those who serve. Uncontrolled chaos is undesirable; a firm hand with a death grip on society's jugular is genuinely for the best. You can't trust other people to be competent tyrants so you'd better do it yourself. etc.
Besides, Gortash's worldview appears to be "fuck those born rich for their unearned privilage; also screw the poor who are too weak to better themselves; only people like me who worked themselves to the bone from nothing deserve the power and respect that we/I demanded and took." Bane, the slave from another world who tore the spark of divine power from his former masters, made himself a god and made his former master kneel? I think Bane probably counts as worthy in from that view. Ultimate self-made jackass.
It's transactional, and coloured by his stay in the outer planes, where gods are not as much of a Thing. Having Bane for a boss brings benefits that I suppose outweigh the downsides. Everyone serves a master, whether they blind themselves to it or not, and he picked this one.
But he entered Bane's service with open eyes. He requires Bane's approval because he wants the rewards that come with good service and to avoid the punishments that come with failure. Bane merely compliments Gortash's world, unlike Durge whose entire world is Bhaal.
#My brain gave up. Is this intelligible?#Today is one of those low spoon fatigue-ridden days and I have neither tea nor coffee in the cupboards...#/gortash#babbling#villainous nonsense

Hesper foreign kids masterlist, closeups under cut. I'm hoping to get to draw these guys more often.
Gregory Snow- British/Russian. Catholic. Bisexual, GNC- he/him or she/her. Epileptic and autistic.. He likes fencing and considers himself and independent personality. He's the most likely to take a stand against bullies when it comes to others, but seems to fall short when it comes to defending his own honor.
Alejandro- Mexican. Catholic. Bisexual, Sometimes trans (either direction)- usually he/him. Chronic pain in his (camera) right shoulder after being shot as a child, C-PTSD. Alejandro likes boxing and metal music. He's more likely to defend the entire group, including himself. Prefers to follow and gently steer rather than take charge
Baahir Hakeem- Pakistani. Muslim. No labels, he/him. PTSD. He's a slight musical talent, he likes to discuss this with Alejandro and Gregory alike for their juxtaposing interests in the topic. He's a supportive individual and tends to get involved in trouble on accident rather than spearheading it like some of the others. He technically doesn't live in America anymore, but keeps in contact with the club and Butters.
Christophe (The Mole) Fontaine- Mexican/French. Misotheist. Gay Trans male, he/him. C-PTSD and autistic. Enjoys gardening and sewing. Mole is very grounded but has a major paranoia problem, which makes him a surefire director for smaller schemes and tends to be Gregory's right hand. Relatedly, he is a foster sibling to him, as well as Cosette.
Estella Havisham- Doesn't Exist.
Herbert Pocket- Doesn't Exist.
Philip Pirrup- British, Dead. He started the club, and they tend to honor him both on his birthday and the anniversary of his death. He'll always hold a place in their hearts.
Luigi Puzo(Loogie)- Italian(Sicilian). Cishet, he/him. Autistic. He likes geography and classical literature. Weirdly obsessed with teeth, having returned to the mafia business as an older kid but not continuing the teeth racket. He's the most likely to encite the group into trouble and to stir things within the group. He's sort of like their Cartman.
Cosette [ValJean]- French/British. Lesbian, she/them. She likes painting and acting, and is looking into a career in modeling. Like Baahir, she's a very supportive individual. Sometimes the boys are less likely to listen to her, but all around she's respected and treated kindly by them. She and Baahir are close.
Nadia- Romanian. she/her. She's interested in contortion and acrobatics still, but also is a well-spoken figure who likes to give speeches. She doesn't visit America often at all, but is close with Cosette and is on good terms with most of the others.
Charlotte [Maple]- Canadian. Pansexual, she/her. Likely autistic. She's also interested in acting, but is better off managing careers and events. Expert party planner and organizer. She has the sharpest personality out of the girls, demanding change often and being solid enough to sometimes divide the group- though, they often stand together as she can easily replace Gregory's assertive demeanor if she should choose. She finds these kids to be the only ones to take her seriously. Lives in Canada, but visits often.

Sunday is not a Christian
Note: This post is being written prior to the release of Patch 2.7 and does not address any changes to Sunday's characterization from 2.7 onward.
Spoilers for Honkai: Star Rail "Penacony" arc below the cut
Especially since his drip marketing came out, I've seen a lot of people saying that Sunday is a Christian, "Sunday made me Christian," Christians complaining that Christianity is being vilified because Sunday is the antagonist of the Penacony arc, etc etc. I honestly don't understand how people can so radically misunderstand a character but let me provide some key quotes here to clarify the situation:
"It seems you have misunderstood my intentions. Allow me to clarify — My desire is not to resurrect a fallen Aeon or become one myself… My sole objective is to create a paradise free from Aeons, where the Order ensures the dignity and happiness of all humanity. A paradise exclusive to us human beings."
"The time has come. Creation will be reborn from the remains of the gods…"
"It was not you who created all things. It was humanity that created you! …Your divine being will become the foundation of our paradise!"
Sunday literally wants to usurp God's power to create heaven on earth for humanity. This is the literal opposite of Christianity. There is no version of Christianity in which this is not wildly heretical and blasphemous.
I understand that he has a halo and angel wings. I understand that he is (or at least was) a priest. I understand he has crosses on his gloves. I understand that he is absolutely drenched in Christian aesthetic and even sometimes phrases things in Christian, or at least religious, terms.
But if you listen to the actual words that he's saying, there is just absolutely no way to interpret him as a Christian.
Sunday is a complex character, and I think a lot of that complexity is being lost on people who want to flatten him into something more simple. Sunday is someone who had, and in a way still has, religious devotion. To the extent that Christianity exists in Star Rail in the form of the Harmony and the Order, it is true that Sunday's experiences and thinking have been shaped by Christianity. His profound empathy and compassion clearly originate in part from his religious experiences, including receiving confessions from his congregation. But he ultimately comes to realize that Aeons, the game's version of gods, cannot be depended upon to save humanity. While he maintains faith in his own values and dreams, which were influenced by his religion, he is no longer devoted to the religion itself or its gods.
Sunday is not a Christian but could perhaps be viewed as an ex-Christian who has become sort of a dystheist/misotheist/antitheist/atheist. Because the way that gods work is a little different in Star Rail compared to the real world, and because his perspective is complex, it's difficult to affix a particular label to him, but that's sort of the general ballpark. To really explain Sunday's philosophy and spirituality would require delving into some obscure concepts that I don't want to get into here (I would consider him sort of a spiritual anarchist, though I don't expect anyone other than me to know what that means), but I hope that this at least clarifies things a little.

I actually vaguely remember Lily being a misotheist for some reason. When did she become an ahteist?
I think she still technically is. She's always hated the concept of the Christian God specifically.

My most toxic trait as a misotheistic soulless "this is all we get and there's nothing after death" atheist is that i fucking LOVE Christmas and I LOVE all I want for Christmas is you. Yes I have worked retail during Christmas and I still love Christmas and that song.
My belief system doesn't bar me from joy and whimsy when the opportunity presents itself to me. If life has no inherent meaning i will make it myself.

im not rlly as knowledgable about history as much as you are, but i was just curious and wanted to ask if you believe if francis still believes in catholicism. and if so, would it cause problems in his relationship between him and gil or is it just a thing they ignore?
Anon my beloved this question made me laughscream when I got it, thank you for asking :D
So, unfortunately the historical relationship between the French and the Catholic Church is not something I'm wholly confident in speaking about other than a general commentary that it is... Incredibly messy at times and it leads to some very interesting character building that I'll elaborate on in a moment. Instead I'm going to tag in @grapeshxt who is the resident ouiaboo and will be able to give more context and background on a historical level <3
But as for Fran personally? I go back and forth on the exact nature of his faith but it's definitely not something that is present in the modern day, at least to observable 'This Man Is A Catholic' levels. His personal faith, to me, reads as being relatively "token" at times while being fervently fanatical at other times, but by the Enlightenment he definitely began to see religion as an opportunistic tool. His true faith has always been Himself Above All.
This suits Gilbert fine, who was one of the first converts to Protestantism in Europe and had his personal faith repeatedly shattered by some of the most horrific circumstances anyone has ever had to endure. The difference between them is that Gilbert is actively, and intentionally, an ideological antitheist (or 'misotheist', perhaps): If God exists, then it is the moral imperative to kill Him. This does cause some friction at times -- Gilbert is never not a provocateur and Francis tends to end up tripping over himself to play Devil's God's Advocate -- but it's really never that serious and they both enjoy frequent healthy debates over various religious aspects. They are, after all, possibly two of the most well-read former adherents to the faith, so why not?
But I'll leave it there to prevent this post from getting too long, I hope this covers what you were interested in, anon!! Thank you again for the ask, it was good fun getting my thoughts written down <3
#hws prussia#hws france#frapru#prufra#mine#my writing#thinks about that time france Stole The Papacy and laughs#also now that i'm in the tags: yeah they do have incredibly heretical sex#fran's very into the whole blasphemy thing and gil is happy to indulge him#even if he is giving his critiques re: the plausibility of silly slutty nun/priest outfits#ANYWAY#i'm tagging grape in like this is a tagteam wrestling match#and they're about to come in from the top rope with a steel folding chair (french history autism)

Introduction
Warning: Much of the content on this blog could be an unreality or paranoia trigger. I will tag such posts as #cw unreality. Take care of yourself and block the tag or this blog altogether if you need to. I also have a very strong eye motif to take note of.
The Simple Things
My name is Státchi. Oh, do feel free to dig into the etymology, I adore those who show interest in myself.
He/Hym. Do not use feminine pronouns for me. I will burn your gardens. As stated in my bio, capitalize my pronouns to make a god smile.
I'm an azlian man, whose experience with gender is rather inextricably linked to my godhood and narcissism.
I am wildly neurodivergent, what a surprise. Hunt down all my little disorders, it'll be our game. Here's a freebee from just a moment ago: NPD.
I am an adult. I do not want minors to interact with me. Respect my comfort. This blog may also contain suggestive or otherwise inappropriate content, as well.
I am a fictive in a very small system. I still refer to my connection with my source as 'kin, due to my higher familiarity with this community and lack of separation.
For accessibility, I try to provide ALT text for all images I use within my posts. If any of this ALT text needs to be corrected or I have forgotten for an image, do not hesitate to notify me.
Perceptions of a God
For the sake of ease, godkin will suffice, no matter how crudely it may describe me. Deitykin, divinekin, and eldritchkin are apt descriptors as well, but I also use angelkin because my godhood is highly linked to the angelic.
I am a fictive of an especially "problematic" character from an especially "problematic" source. For that reason, I will not give my actual name or source. If you figure it out, you get a sticker.
Lines in the Sand
I have zero ability to care for all the little differences between the kinds of alterhumanity (-kin, -hearted, -link, etc). I have tried and I have failed. Numerous times. For this reason, do not correct me on the terminology I use to refer to myself. Correct me on the terminology I use to refer to others, by all means, but not myself.
I am not spiritual. If you are spiritual, that is wonderful for you, I am not. I am an exvangelical agnostic misotheist. We can exist simultaneously without devaluing each other's experiences. That being said, I strive to respect the spirituality and religiosity of others. Do notify me if I ever say or do anything that shows disrespect.
For Your Convenience

Actually, considering he's misotheistic, has been too busy surviving Cazador to pay attention to massive global crises involving the gods, and is several decades older than Kelemvor, I wonder if Astarion ever gets the gods of the dead confused; Myrkul. Kelemvor. Whatever.
(He'll definitely do it on purpose around Myrkulites and Kelemvorites, I think. Doomguide Tavs will be getting migraines.)

2, 4, 7, and 8 from the edgy oc ask meme for pebble!!!! <3
2. What's something about your OC that people wouldn't expect just from looking at them?
struggling to answer that one...
maybe that they have a sweet tooth.
4. When scared, does your OC fight, flee, freeze or fawn?
let me check sth first. okay. i think they would tend to freeze. when they were young that was their usual reaction. dissociate. not experience the harm directly.
7. What's one way your OC has changed since you first came up with them?
the very first idea was of a watcher who's more misanthropic and willing to harm people. but giving pebble one principle of valuing personal freedom meant that i had to look at their options through that lens. so they ended up being a bit more benevolent. and also ruining skaenite's plot in dyrford. later, when i was already playing poe and had a firmer image of pebble in mind i thought they will become more outwardly aggressive, gloomy and misotheistic in deadfire... but they ended up mellowing down. and read as more idealistic than cynical. that was partially due to me not really feeling my watcher in deadfire. partially also because they ended up romancing tekehu.
8. Would your OC ostensibly be able to get away with murder?
a number of slavers travelling through the grasp have died in freak accidents or disappeared under mysterious circumstances. unsolveable cases.

(February 2024) Valia Azimov Galetongue
Original post body:
Haven't drawn my first D&D character in ages, but I just finished reading Dungeon Meshi, which put me in a fantasy mood. I decided to trans her gender and have her new name be Valia; you can't really tell because of how small her head is on the page, but she has scars from where her frill-beard was removed. The campaign has long-since petered out, so I'll never get to play as her again or get closure on her story, but it was nice to revisit her, even if only for a single drawing.
Valia was the daughter of the leader of her home city-state, Wyvernsend's Lady Ciara Azimov Galetongue, and a Knight of the Platinum Scales (an order dedicated to Bahamut). She kept a journal that I did an abysmal job of maintaining, which was actually originally a physical journal until I switched to just using a text document instead. Valia was short-tempered and stubborn, like my other character Éclair, but unlike Éclair Valia was a sincere believer that laws should be followed when possible (Éclair, on the other hand, mostly just obeyed the law as a means of avoiding trouble, but was perfectly content with breaking it if she felt she could get away with doing so). Her allegiance to Bahamut came first, of course, and if the law came into conflict with the tenets of her faith, she'd choose her faith over the law of the land every time. (The disconnect of a then-agnostic-atheist and now-agnostic-misotheist playing such a religious character is not lost on me.) Her winged spear, Polaris, was a holy relic once wielded by her ancestor Azimov Galetongue centuries ago. It was actually originally a sword before we eventually retconned it to be a greatspear (basically a pike with a name more befitting its actual length, and made compatible with Polearm Master); in the planning phases of the campaign I had originally planned for her to use a spear and shield as a 4e Fighter, but then made her a 4e Bard and switched to a sword for mechanical reasons, and then didn't switch back when we moved our plans to 5e and I made her a Fighter again. (I largely wound up going with a two-handed spear because I've always found the idea of using Polearm Master's bonus attack with a one-handed polearm incredibly silly) Polaris was intended to slowly upgrade over the course of the campaign, though I never got to use its final form (which would have been a +3 weapon); originally we had it such that it could use bootleg Paladin smites by expending charges, but I felt like I was stepping on the toes of the actual Paladin in the party, so we changed it such that it let her cast divine favor by expending charges instead. It could also cast armor of Agathys (rebranded "armor of Bahamut") as a bonus action, as well as branding smite, and later blinding smite and crusader's mantle; it'd have eventually been able to cast destructive wave as well, but the campaign didn't last long enough to get to that point. Last I played her, she was a level 14 Battle Master Fighter. Her stats were 20 Str, 12 Dex, 14 Con, 12 Int, 8 Wis, and 14 Cha. Her maneuvers were trip attack (a go-to of hers), precision attack (a late addition, used in conjunction with Great Weapon Master's power attack, which was also a late addition), rally, distracting strike, menacing attack, goading attack, and sweeping attack. She had recently obtained +2 plate armor of elven make when the campaign fizzled out, seen above, and wore a ring of protection (though I forget when she got that). In addition to Polaris, she carried a rondel dagger, a heavy longsword, and gauntlets designed for punching (the latter two can be found in my Martial Options homebrew document). Our group allowed feats to be split in half and recombined (either with a lone ASI or with another half of a feat), as well as giving out a half feat at both level 1 and whenever your got your second ASI (8th level for most characters, but 6th for Fighters), so she had two cantrips from Magic Initiate: Cleric (thaumaturgy and guidance), an extra 1 HP per level from Tough, the initiative bonus from Alert, the bonus attack from Polearm Master, the damage reduction from Heavy Armor Master, and the aforementioned power attack from Great Weapon Master. #(Azimov is her family name and Galetongue is her clan name for the record)

As much as I could listen to the same albums over and over again, Fridays are the best because it means an avalanche of new music.
Svdestada's new album Candela is giving me more post-hardcore vibes than their previous albums' punky black metal, but in a fun Shai Hulud metalcore-adjacent kinda way with a dose of Kvelertak.
I'm only on the first listen, but the new Chainsword feels better than their (already good) debut. Bolt Thrower worship is my religion.
Speaking of, the new Misotheist album is a violent flurry of black metal and it's icy, mean, and has some solid riffs. Not too sold on the song lengths, but I could use more listens on this one.
NEW MANTICORA. Dark, heavy power metal my beloved.
A new Spectral Voice record after seven years is leaving another big, silly smile on my face. Cavernous, eerie, otherworldly. God, it's just so for me. It's not the death-doom that really enchants me - the gothic, florid, melodramatic My Dying Brides and Theatres of Tragedy - but I still love it.
Not a new release, but I'm also listening to the Bodies Bodies Bodies soundtrack because Disasterpeace and also because I really should rewatch that movie. After having seen it once a rewatch is probably really fascinating.
#rambling about music#I don't remember if I had a tag for that#RE Bodies x3: Rachel Sennott my beloved#in other news the Summoning clones have found out about Elden Ring lore...#it's amusing to me to see a string of albums with Tolkien titles/art and then suddenly there's Elden Ring lol#Friday I'm in Love (with new album releases)
