I have a really stupid, really absurd question…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is "Captain Knuckles" from Sonic Prime a really… really… odd, largely disconnected reference to "Captain K'nuckles" from The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack?
Please, don't hurt me too badly…

guys, guys-
omg.
so um, i was just searching up stuff about hyperthymia (chronic hypomania) because i was trying to write a character with bipolar and heard chronic mania was a thing, so i wanted to search for chronic hypomania, lol.
but then i got distracted by the endless question algorithm, and i see this...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
as a sonic fan, i am shocked. WDYM JIM CARREY HAS BORDERLINE?!?!! 😨😨😨😰😰😰 (not to offend anyone, borderline people are completely valid)
i mean... it actually lines up with his eggman persona's behavior (which is a new headcanon i never considered until now), but WHAT- 🤯🤯🤯🤯

Day 5: Alt Prompt: Lighting Strike
Tumblr media
Sonic doesn’t like having to go on missions to the SATAM Universe. The Tails there reminds him to much of his own. He always hesitates- and he’s always promptly punished with a harsh lighting strike.

The comparison between Mario and Luigi's misadventures in each of their games is literally the vibe I get from Sonic X Shadow Generations
Yes, but at least I get the difference there? Despite being in the same universe, Sonic and Shadow have vastly different characterizations, motives, and backstories. The character Sonic The Hedgehog was created to emulate the cool/xtreme vibe that was big in the early 90s, while Shadow was created in the early 2000s to capitalize on the dark/edgy aesthetic that was gaining popularity at that time. The huge tonal divergence between the two is perfectly logical.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Luigi was created as a palate swap of Mario for the sake of including second player. He and Mario are two silly little wahoo guys; twins who have lived with each other their entire lives, embarked on many of their adventures as a team, and see pretty much eye-to-eye in terms of morals and motivations.
Tumblr media
But while Mario's solo adventures involve bright, colorful, spacious worlds, Luigi– the more softspoken and anxious of the two– gets regularly thrown face-first into Hell.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's hilarious in a schadenfreude sort of way.

High and Unbroken
"It's gorgeous."
"Isn't it?"
In all the years that had passed, Sonic had always remained devoted and enthusiastic towards his trusty biplane, the Tornado. True, you could argue it was more Tails' property these days, given how often the fox was the designated driver in their neverending string of misadventures, and how frequently the young genius would make adjustments to it for whichever reasons that were relevant, yet despite this, he never stopped recognizing it as Sonic's plane first and foremost. Which, among other things, meant he had no qualms with his older friend taking it out for a ride. It was a nice day, after all, as opposed to a particularly rainy one. Though that never stopped the daring hedgehog before.
Then again, hayfever never stopped him before either... to an extent.
"I don't suppose this is the one you... stole?" Lutrudis mused playfully, having fully remembered when Sonic informed her of that specific detail, though her focus stayed on the subject matter. If Sonic's quills spiking up were any indication, he didn't expect her to bring it up again on her own. At least no one else was there to hear it out loud, she wasn't that careless.
"Er, yes, the very one!" Sonic laughed it off as he combed a hand through his quills. "I had to explore the world beyond my home somehow, right?"
"Hehe, right."
The Tornado stood proud, with the bright red coat of paint that it was forever known for, except for that brief period in which it was blue. Truth is, among the many other, more practical changes and improvements made over the span of time, the reason for the shift back to red was disappointingly mundane: they just liked it that way. Maybe it was a nostalgia thing.
That said, its current appearance did maintain several of the fox's considerably modern advancements and implements. The latest of which was especially novel: a second seat.
"This beauty's never let me down," the hedgehog put a soft hand on the side, as his eyes read the paint job. "It's stuck with me since the beginning, although it's been shot down a couple of times by Eggman... but it's never stayed down for long! It's always ready again in no time!"
"So it's just like you, then," Trudy smiled warmly, her hands raised and clasped to her chest. "Never down permanently."
Sonic gave her a quick glance, and didn't comment on her statement, though he did smirk to himself. Upon looking at the Tornado once more, he put one hand on his hip, and the fingers of his other hand began to tap idly against the vehicle.
"Fancy a go?"
Trudy paused at the suggestion, and appeared slightly flustered at first, before she shook her head with closed eyes as she swiftly realised what he was referring to, and fanned herself discreetly.
"Oh, heavens no. I'd be such a putrid pilot," she insisted gently, still fanning herself. "I've never had driving lessons of any sort, let alone with such a magnificent aircraft."
"Neither have I!"
"...Well, yes, but you're Sonic. You've got quite the knack for these things. I might not be as fortunate, and I couldn't bear to make a right old mess of something that you and Tails have worked hard on and for so long. It'd be more the Tornadon't in my hands, frankly." She crossed her arms, as if to subtly move past the joke she saw fit to unleash upon the world without its permission.
"How about a ride together, then? You deserve to touch the sky either way, right?"
Trudy's arms immediately uncrossed, and she put one finger to her mouth. She wasn't fully certain if that was a good idea either, as she wouldn't know what kind of passenger she would be until it was potentially too late. Not to mention her, shall we say, complicated internal structure when compared to the average brightly colored anthropomorphic. By this point though, she had taken up several of Sonic's eccentric offers already, and her belief in him only continued to grow. He hadn't betrayed her so far, and she knew deep in her heart that he wouldn't start now.
"A...alright."
---
"So have you been on a plane before?"
"No."
"Have you been high up at all before?"
"No."
"Do you get motion sickness?"
"...Are you sure you won't regret this?"
"I'll take that as a maybe."
They had fastened their seatbelts, and Sonic did a quick double check to make sure everything was in order. Trudy's hands were instinctively gripping the sides tightly, as if to brace herself for whatever may ensue. Though she made sure not to grip too tightly so as to cause any scratches or dents; evidently, even in a state of quasi-anxiety, the consideration of her friend never escaped her mind.
"Nervous?" He didn't even need to look at her. He could tell purely through his own intuition.
"A little," she muttered shyly. "No offense to you, mind."
"None taken," he assured, and briefly looked back at her with a friendly gaze. "I won't loop around upside down or anything, if that's what you're worried about. We'll go as comfortably as you want it. And heck, if you're having second thoughts altogether, by all means, I won't force you to-"
"No." She put a mildly shaky hand on Sonic's shoulder. His assurance seemed to put her at more ease. "I trust you."
He paused momentarily, and he rested on that response intently. He hoped she hadn't said that solely for his sake, at the expense of how she really felt about this new experience, one that was bound to be daunting to someone who had only recently began the adventuring lifestyle, in contrast to his own history of nothing but that.
As he looked into her eyes however, he could see that they shined brightly in his direction. Despite her obvious fear, she yearned for this. You couldn't fake something like that. Once he was certain of her sincerity, he gradually returned his gaze to the controls, and confidently cracked his knuckles.
"Well, if you're sure, then... hold on."
It didn't take long before the engines began roaring to life, which were predictably very loud. Trudy wasn't quite sure on how her hearing remained unaffected, but she blessed her luck all the same. After some impressive exhaust, the Tornado finally elevated itself off the ground, ever so carefully, ever so gracefully... then, without warning, Sonic wasted no time in shooting their way straight towards the air, with a grin on his face.
"Oh-!" This had clearly caught poor Trudy off guard, and her ponytail flew right in front of her face, which she subsequently blew aside with her mouth.
"My bad, you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm okay... Whew..." As she gathered herself, the glimpse of the land below soon overwhelmed her. "Oh my... my goodness..."
In a matter of seconds, they had already reached the clouds. Sonic simply kept going, fueled by his love for going above and beyond. Trudy, meanwhile, soon focused intensely on the sky that she had never seen this close up before. As was standard procedure in a place as extraordinary as Viridonia, its appearance was not as straightforward as a simple sunny affair. The view above - and from the sides - was a soft blue mixed with a touch of pink, which in turn made the clouds appear mildly light purple when seen from afar. The young horse had seen many skies like this before, and she adored them, but to be this close to one was surely something else. Her eyes fixated on it, mesmerized without restraint.
As if to test his friend's limit, Sonic began drifting left and right between various clouds. He started off slow, but - Sonic being who he is - the pace quickly caught up. With no complaints to be heard, he kept right at it, quicker with each example. It was like a rollercoaster for Trudy, one that she wasn't sure if she should really be on, but couldn't deny that she was glad to be on nonetheless. After that, Sonic switched to circling the sky entirely, going clockwise repeatedly around a sizable circumference, all the while rising and lowering at select moments. Trudy couldn't help but stick out her arms during this, and let out a tender giggle as her gloved hands felt the swift breeze. They could spot the mighty sea below, which of course had the signature turquoise gleam that it was known for having around these parts. The hedgehog pondered to himself if there was anyone down below who could see them in turn, possibly wondering what on earth they were doing up here. With these moves, hopefully they wouldn't be mistaken for Heavy Gunner's helicopter.
"Pretty awesome, eh?" he quipped, with another toothy grin on his face. He had always loved the sky too, that hadn't changed since his early days.
"Awesome? This is... this is outstanding! It's amazing!" Trudy couldn't help but let out a grin of her own. She put a hand to her cheek, and bit her lip. Her eyes kept darting between different sections of the vivid air. "I know this must be low level for your standards, but it's just... I feel so alive!"
"Feels great, right? That's the spirit! Now, how about we try... this!"
Promptly, the Tornado took a sharp nosedive to the ground, as if to conveniently compliment the pre-established rollercoaster analogy. Trudy closed her eyes tightly, yet she did not scream, for she knew Sonic would not crash. Instead, with a bit of a stutter at first, she let out a cheer, one so bold for such a demure lady, and this did not let up even as the plane flew back up, having narrowly avoided the waters at the most dramatic moment.
"Whoooo! Ha ha haaaa!"
"I think you're enjoying this more than me!" Sonic laughed, and kept smiling to himself. He always got catharsis out of lifting his friends' spirits, it was one of the greatest feelings in the world. Not because he considers it his obligation: rather, like every other personal decision ever made by the Blue Blur, he simply wants to. That's always how it's been with him. He wants to beat up giant robots, so he'll do it, and that's that. He wants to help innocents, so he'll do it, and that's that. And he wants to make sure his friends are happy, and in a better place... so he'll do it. And that's that.
Sometimes, it can be complicated. Like freeing them from the shackles of their abuser. Or assuring them that they'll see an old friend again someday when there's no way for sure to be certain. Other times, it's as simple as letting them see the world with their own eyes. This is what living is all about, letting others be happy alongside you. Eggman could never understand that, not with his 300 IQ.
"Sonic?"
He blinked. He had gotten so caught up in his thoughts that he almost forgot where he was and what he was doing, though thankfully, this did surprisingly little to cripple his piloting... or else they wouldn't have been here for much longer. As their flight calmed down a little, he turned his head slightly. Trudy was still glancing at the sky, completely content.
"Yeah?"
"Was this what your first flight was like?"
He gave the sky another look, and squinted a little. Maybe it was the colour. Maybe it was the weather. Whatever it was, there was something about it that made him appreciate that the more things change, the more they really do stay the same.
"Yeah," he replied fondly. "I guess it was. 'Course, no matter how many times I've been up in the clouds, the thrill never goes away. Nothing ever gets old when you're this hedgehog, heh heh."
"...Sonic?"
"Hmm?"
"Thanks."
The hedgehog's ear flickered in surprise. "Oh, for this?"
"This and... you." Her face didn't move, but her eyesight ever so slightly shifted coyly in his direction. "Moreso you."
His quills tensed up again, though not enough to harm Trudy. He rubbed his reddening cheek with one hand, and considered himself extremely lucky that Tails wasn't here to see it. He'd never hear the end of it.
"My pleasure," he chuckled bashfully.

Note
so why do you like Scourge the Hedgehog? What got you interested in him?
Yo my first ask!!!! Thank you so much for asking me a question, and to anybody else, I'll always be happy to respond to questions you may have about me or my oc's. Anyways, this is gonna be kinda long. ^^'
Long Explanation: So I've always liked Scourge design wise, ever since I was pretty little. Maybe about seven was when I saw him for the first time? I used to mistake him for Manic, but eventually learned the difference. When I learnt he was an Evil Counterpart of Sonic, I was hooked on him. I've always been a fan of AU's, and the concept has been something I loved to write for a very long time. Since I was young, I didn't understand his character, and wrote him in a dumb way when I was younger. Usually as a generic bad boy antagonist in Sonic High School AU's and stuff...
Tumblr media
Later on during 2019, I was bored and decided to read more of the Archie Comics. That's when I learnt his backstory, and I became HOOKED on his universe, and the other Anti Counterparts. I began doing research, and I ended up starting a Gacha Life Shorts Show called The Misadventures Of Moebius on Tik Tok. It's still currently going, and I genuinely have fun writing it. It's mostly just me expanding on Anti Mobius, since the Archie Comics came to an end, and we never got to see many things from the universe. Many of the early episodes are inaccurate to my thoughts on most of the characters nowadays, and how they act. But to be fair, it's my first ever series, and I was only about 12 when I began making it for the first time. And at that point, I didn't even finish reading Archie like a dummy. I basically wanted to make silly shorts with some goofy characters I liked.
Tumblr media
AUGH SO CRINGE AUGHHH. TmT
I appreciate his cool design, and the many writing opportunities he holds. It's easy to see Scourge as all evil, and write him as a cool villain. This is because of his cocky and rebellious demeanor. But it's also just as easy to see him as a misunderstood and not all evil character, which is how I personally see him. I think the idea of him and his father would've been cool to see more of, since obviously Scourge's home life effected the way he turned out growing up. And that if he's with the right people, he could've been just like Sonic! Kind of like an inverse on what he says to Sonic during one of their battles. In other people's AU's he's still a bad guy, but in my own I redeemed him. The nuanced way that people can see his character is a reason why I love him so much!
Tumblr media
Plus, I like how he isn't super crazy like other Archie Sonic Villain's. Sometimes he's just kind of a dickbag, and I always enjoy someone who can be threatening, but also silly. I don't love everything about his character of course, he has some things that I try to forget about with his writing. But that's basically the case for every single character I like from anything ever. XD
Tumblr media
I love this little shit so much. XD
TLDR:I've liked the green goober for a while now, but only since 2019 have I been more public about my love for this dummy. I love the idea of his universe, I like the many paths writers can take his character, and I just think his personality is really fun.
If you're interested, bellow is a work in progress on my Headcannon/AU Scourge that I use in my TMOM Episodes and videos! I hope to draw him, and the other cannon cast more often. And maybe interacting with my Anti Counterparts I made, or original characters from his universe I've built up for five years now. But I'm starting out by just making him a ref page. My next post will hopefully be him, or my next video. ^w^
Tumblr media
I'm making this design for a video! And also just for fun! I can't wait to share the final with ya'll! X3
