رات دن گردِش میں ہے سات آسماں

Round the clock, the seven skies keep revolving;

ہورہے گا کچھ نہ کچھ گھبرائیں کیا؟

Something or other is bound to happen, why be anxious?

koi virani si virani hai, dasht ko dekh ke ghar yaad aaya

Today my mom was singing Mirza Ghalib's most famous ghazal, "yeh na thi humari qismat" (This was not our destiny). I said her "Let me record " and she replied "I won't let you record. I know you'll post it on your Tumblr and your friends will laugh at my voice." 😆After a lot of persuasion she finally agreed. Please ignore my strange voice, I have cold.😅

ye na thi humaari qismat ke wisaal-e-yaar hota agar aur jeete rehte yahi intezaar hota.

It was not my destiny that there would be a union with my beloved. If I had lived further on, there would have been this same waiting.

ye kaha ki dosti hai ke bane hain dost naaseh koi chaarasaaz  hota, koi ghamgusaar hota

What kind of friendship is this, where the friends have now become advisors. If only there were some healer, if only there was some sympathizer.

And When Faiz said Phir dekhe hain wo hijr ke tapte hue din bhi jab dil o jaan mei fagaa'n bhool gyi hai

Jo tere apne honge vo laut aayenge kisi roz.

Folks 😭 my boyfriend just sent me three poems by Ghalib that he wrote himself in Urdu and it’s just too cute to see him make an effort to communicate with me. He always finds new ways to communicate and convey his feelings and honestly I am just too lucky to have him. I don’t think I could have ever had someone who adores me the way he does he’s just perfect ❤️

Remembering Mirza Ghalib on his death anniversary

Ishrat-e-qatra hai dariya mein fana ho jaana

Dard ka had se guzarna hai dawa ho jaana

When Mirza Ghalib said :

“Na kar apne dard-e-dil ko

shayari mai tabdil,

Loog aur toot jaate hai har alfaz ko

apni dastan samajh kar”

Shayari ek aisi chiz hai, Jo khushi aur gham donon ko bayan kar sakti hai..To agar tum khush ho to shayari likho, Aur agar tum ghamgin ho to chup raho...Kyunki chup hi sabse badi shayari hai...
