One of my favorite fun historical through lines is that the original co-illustrator for Dick and Jane who also co-created the branding for Elmers Glue is also very likely the indirect but influential progenitor of a great majority of furry art and culture. and he doesn't even have a wikipedia page. The story is as follows:
A team of designers create Elsie the cow as the mascot of the Borden dairy company, later giving her a husband named Elmer in branding. Elsie was extraordinarily popular and was portrayed in tons of print advertising and even licensed media. The most well-remembered and beloved of these advertisements were done by a popularly unknown and uncredited illustrator named Keith Ward together with a great deal of other commercial illustrations
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Ward's early work in commercial illustration: children's books and advertising)
The scale of ward's contribution to Elsie and Elmer is somewhat murky, particularly since most credits go to the contributors with greater status at Borden. Personally, I see it as largely a collaboration between Ward and several unknown others under art director David William Reid.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Ward's work vs Reid's work)
Elsie eventually fell out of popular consciousness after rebranding, but Elmer lives on as the mascot of Elmer's glue, originally a subsidiary of Borden as glue could be produced as a byproduct of industrial dairy. Modern Elmer's glue is synthetic, but retains the iconic mascot and design.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Elmer's evolution from a more Ward-like design its current iteration)
Ward would later go on to illustrate for an American adaptation of Reynard the Fox by Harry J. Owens, again, miraculously uncredited on the cover. His name appears once, on the title page, and the lavish biography on the back of my copy fails to even mention the illustrations.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Ward's work for the Scandalous Adventures of Reynard the Fox)
These works are particularly notable as much later, Ken Anderson of Disney was working on conceptualizing a Disney adaptation of Reynard, which is a very interesting and messy story for another time. In short, he and his team drew many inspirations from many many places, but with Ward being relatively more known and respected in the industry and having worked on a Reynard book in a similar style to what Disney wanted, his work was one of the most influential on the development of the film. The Reynard part was eventually scrapped (those who are familiar with the story and character will not be surprised), but a lot of the designs and even layouts were reused for Robin Hood. If you've ever wondered why they made him a fox, that's why.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Bill Peet's and Ken Anderson's Reynards bear a striking resemblance to Ward's)
There's a lot more to the inspiration than just the designs, many plot points and layouts from Reynard, and their depictions by Ward, remain in Robin Hood (they unfortunately do not fit in this post). Its likely that finding such a clear starting point for their film in Ward's book had a hand in salvaging the Disney Reynard project and leading to the complete, although troubled, completion and release of Robin Hood.
And the rest is furstory! While there are certainly many other Disney animal features that have made their mark on the fandom, Robin Hood's influence is particularly notable for being the most popular of the most anthropomorphic animal-focused animations in contrast to the commercial underdogs of the Great Mouse Detective and many of Don Bluth's films, and more conventionally presented talking animals like those of the Aristocats and the Jungle Book. Isn't that interesting!

confusing rant about the mlb movie
okay so about the miraculous movie that’s apparently super high quality.
it still sucks. why? because other than cinematography, it doesn’t change what makes the current series bad.
i think the biggest factor for me is definitely how the character designs still have zero personality. and the film overall, while it looks bedazzling, just comes across as messy due to… unnecessary detail? there’s too much going on to the point it’s visually straining. so your eyes struggle to relax trying to take on everything. even watching the scenes make me feel physically giddy. below is an example, comparing with a shot from spider-man into the spiderverse
Tumblr media Tumblr media
imo, miraculous is *not at all* a show that benefits from cgi, and the 2d pre canon concept art further supports this. yet the movie doesn’t use the budget to its advantage to improve shape language and design, and continues with the boring barbie doll like characters. which i guess makes some sense because you can’t totally change the iconic design of someone, but couldn’t you at least make it more cartoonish?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
anyways, here’s how the movie suffers from “over details”. why it works in the first pic, is because miles is contrasted against a light background, with two cars around him that frames him into the focus of the scene. your eyes easily rest onto him.
on the other hand, many scenes from the movie are too bright, so naturally your eyes tend to gravitate towards those. except the lights are bright for no reason other than aesthetic and doesn’t serve to guide your eyes to the characters on screen. in the second pic, there’s too much colour everywhere, and in the third pic, the light seems to be the main focus, but it doesn’t cast a proper spotlight onto marinette and makes her blend into the background instead.
i could also elaborate on how the mediocre voice actors brings down the quality (ik they’re trying their best but).
hopefully stuff like this is gonna be improved upon? but then again i’m nitpicking.
i’m just bummed they didn’t really use 100mil well

10 Reasons Lila Rossi Is an Iconic Disney Villain
Many Disney Villains have become iconic over the years. Of course, these are mostly classic Disney Villains from animated movies. However, there's one character who has turned an entire Disney Channel series into something truly dark by season five. This article will talk about Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir's true villain, a girl named Lila Rossi. Disclaimer: this article contains spoilers!
1. Skilled Liar: The first thing viewers learn about Lila is how she's a chronic and compulsive liar. She'll lie about the simplest of things to creating elaborate and believable stories. Thus, Lila lies about anything and everything to everyone who crosses her path. What's worse, she's quite the actress as almost everyone believes her claims regardless of what she says.
Tumblr media
2. Skilled Manipulator: Being an actress and a liar makes it easy for Lila to manipulate people's words against them. Thus, she's also capable of manipulating any situation to her advantage. Lila is most notably known for gatekeeping, gaslighting and guilt tripping. Viewers see her do this with civilians and villains alike.
Tumblr media
3. Why lie?: No one knows why or what led Lila to start lying in the first place. The only thing viewers know is she actually enjoys doing it and has no remorse for her actions. There's a speculation where Lila feels lonely and neglected by her mother, Mrs. Rossi, because she's always working. However, she gains plenty of love and attention from other loved ones in her life.
Tumblr media
4. A True Villain: There have been several villains throughout the series. Although Gabriel Agreste/Hawk Moth is the main bad guy, he's quite wimpy and a bumbling mess in comparison to Lila. This girl isn't afraid to go the extra mile to get what she wants. In addition, Lila doesn't let her emotions get the best of her, thus she's hard to defeat.
Tumblr media
5. One Step Ahead: Lila is incredibly intelligent. She's organized and detailed in her plans. This means, Lila is always one step ahead. When one scheme fails, she has another one up her sleeve. Lila doesn't waste time sulking. Instead, she moves onto her next plan of action.
Tumblr media
6. Master of Disguise: The most horrifying thing about Lila is how she's a master of disguise. She's thorough in her looks as she'll change her hair, skin, eyes, clothes and eyebrows to become a completely different person. The only thing viewers know about Lila for certain by the end of season five is she has messy pixie cut styled brown hair and hazel-brown eyes. This is because she's seen removing one of her wigs and discarding it in the trash. Which means, Lila can't be wearing a bald-cap underneath her hair.
Tumblr media
7. Identity Unknown: Many people drastically change their appearance to become who they truly are. Individuals even change their name to suit themselves too. What makes these things acceptable in society is how said people stick to their new identities. However, Lila does this for deception. As such, in addition to frequently changing her looks, Lila also has many analias too. When she changes her appearance, Lila introduces herself as "Cerise". Meaning, no one knows what this girl truly looks like or what her true name is either.
Tumblr media
8. Multiple Lives: It's obvious to viewers Lila has multiple identities. But no one knows she has spread these identities far beyond herself. In fact, Lila is living multiple lives at the same time too. She has multiple different women in her life who she calls "Mother". It's unknown which of these women are the legal or biological mother. Or if any of the women are the biological mother at all. For all viewers know, Lila is an orphan who went to multiple adoption agencies. In which, she lied about her name and age to be adopted by multiple people on separate occasions. Otherwise, a woman or two could be her foster mother. This scenario is possible as there have been very few cases of this occurring in real life.
Tumblr media
9. More Privileges: Regardless, since Lila clearly has multiple mothers, it means she has different separate homes and bedrooms to herself. Living separately from each woman allows Lila to take advantage of their love, care and support. She lies to each of them and the trio easily believe the stories which explain why their "daughter" spends much time away from them in order for her to be with another one of her mothers instead.
Tumblr media
10. Young Monster: Despite everything, the most scary thing about Lila is how she's managed to achieve all of this at the age of fourteen. Technically, considering how perfected her skills are at such a young age, it's obvious Lila turned into a beast in human skin as a little girl. After all, no one knows how young she was when she planned to have multiple guardians in her life.
Tumblr media
What do you think? Is Lila Rossi a character worthy of becoming part of the famous Disney Villain line? If not, why? Please share with me!

Part 1 of redesign Miraculous Ladybug cause the concept is great, but show is trah and it could be done so much better . So we start with a casual outfitt for our main protagonist. Personaly I don't like the orginal for few reasons. . it's maybe iconic, but it could be so much more. Character desing shoud told us about a personality of a character or at least somethings about her before we can see her in action. In orginal desin i kinda can't say anything about Marinette. And just her simple, poor clotes...simple not allways means bad and i undersand that afer all in animation the character need to be simple rather to fast animate ( let's forget the fact that the animation is bad despide that). But i think it can be done....better. . At first I tried to stick aroud the original colors or concept but I just...couldn't. So sorry if its a really 'not like in show'. Since she is a fasion desiner i decide to go with a art core stuff. i also gave her a litte beret since you knoe it happend in french, and it kinda reminds me of art? . And yes i get rid of her ponitails. i don't like them, and I never will. Messy hair ( for me at least) shows that she might be a little clumsy or messy. I hope you don't hate me for that. . i hope you like it...i guess. Next I will propably do Ladybug etc, ect. have a great day. And sorry that you need hear all that stuff.

My sonic oc flick the racoon I'll keep updating him anyway here is his lore
Flick Robotnik (Hero Mode)
Imagine a guy who’s simultaneously the hero and the chaos generator of the group. That's Flick in his hero mode. He’s the type to throw a punch with one hand and check his reflection in a nearby puddle with the other. He’s tall, with messy blue hair that always looks like it took hours to perfect (even though he only spent 30 seconds styling it because "real heroes don't care about their hair, except he does"). His hair has that “femboy, but make it tough” vibe, and he’s convinced everyone’s secretly admiring it while he’s in the middle of saving the world. He wears these sleek combat boots that scream "I’m ready to kick butt," but in reality, they also scream "I bought them because they matched my mood board."
His outfit’s a mishmash of hero chic and “I’m still a rebel.” A high-tech bandolier slung across his chest, loaded with important things like smoke bombs, EMP grenades, and snacks—because saving the day works up an appetite. His most iconic weapon? The Egg Cannon, which he somehow manages to make look stylish, even though it's clearly meant to be evil. But hey, in his hands, it's all about good vibes (with a side of explosions).
Abilities? Oh, he’s got those too. Flick’s sniping skills are so precise, Sonic himself gives a casual “whoa” every time Flick nails a shot. His accuracy can be described as "miraculous"—like hitting a moving target with a toothpick from three miles away. But don’t get it twisted, Flick’s not just a distance fighter. He can get up close and personal, and when he does, it’s less “punching” and more “destroying every villain’s self-esteem.” His Kapow Flick form? Well, when he throws his gun, turns his arms into daggers, and slashes through enemies like a video game character on god mode, it’s the kind of chaotic mess that leaves people both terrified and strangely impressed.
As for his personality—imagine a mix of "I just saved your life, but do you think my hair looks good?" and "Oh, you’re in trouble? Too bad. Now hold on, let me adjust my boots." He’s a protector with a sarcastic streak, constantly throwing out jokes that make you question his sanity, but you’ll never doubt his loyalty. If his friends are in trouble, expect a Flick who’s ready to go full chaotic hero. And when the fight’s over? He’ll stand there, posing dramatically, pretending he doesn’t care that he's still dripping in sweat while asking if he looks “too shiny.”
But don’t expect him to get too serious. Flick's idea of a “serious conversation” is pretending to admire a bird while subtly checking his reflection in a nearby mirror. He’s a hero in his own way: messy, awkward, and always one awkward comment away from making everyone roll their eyes—but somehow, he always saves the day
