You make her deceive your friends; you make her follow where they cannot know; you make her help you into this contraption; you make her feed this thing into you despite the fact that you both have been warned extensively of the risks. You make her watch you crumble and splinter and shatter and fracture and burst and implode. You make her watch you die, over and over and over and over, for a minute in agonizing bullet time.

You make her do all these things, because when she tries to back out, when she tries to not be the one who let you do this—how could you do this—

you tell her, "YOU PROMISED."

Because if there's one thing you know, it's that the fey do not break a promise.

My work for 2023 mini bang for the fic Dirk Gently's Holistic Adventuring Party by @7crowsinadress. I just fell in with love their ideas, fantasy AU has always been my soft-spot, I guess was very lucky to get paired with them XD This was really fun to draw as well!

So excited to be posting the first of two works for the @dghdabigbang minibang! Getting to work with @rustystars was a blast, and while life got in the way a little, I'm very pleased with what we are able to share with y'all!

Rusty's writing was incredibly evocative to me, and I just couldn't help myself but animate a gif to go along with the wonderful "o sweet rot"!

(this post is a bit long sorry it’s early and i’m kinda pissed off)

the problem with me is that i become wholly enthralled and obsessed with a piece of media that has no fandom whatsoever. anywhere. over here it’s all aesthetic bookblogger posts or just nothing at all and on AO3 there would be like 10 fics per fandom

i’m just kinda annoyed because i went to go see if there was a fandom for song of the last kingdom and there was nothing

and i am specifically talking about YA books but this also applies to certain musicals that just. they have no fandom. and i can’t single-handedly start them.

Some prime Dad Halt moments I need to give a shout-out to:

The fact that one of the things he coached Will on in preparation for his first Gathering was people skills. He made sure the boy was equipped to fit in and make friends among the other Rangers!

When he goes on the mission with Alyss in the second book and he's internally going "I'm NOT going to let her make friends with me I'm NOT going to be cheered up I'm NOT >:(" and then the second she shows a HINT of self-doubt he jumps out of his shell to start reassuring her she's qualified for her job.

Ending a conversation with Horace with "Now come inside before you get soaked" because it's about to rain.

I've already yelled about this BUT spending the trip through Gallica making Will a new bow AND bringing him a cloak AND a knife.

Literally starting his morning in Arrida by A) dropping a fun fact about coffee and B) asking how everyone slept.

Also in Arrida: The fact that Will and Gilan's desert camo cloaks were handed to him before leaving and he packed them in HIS bag until they were needed instead of passing them on.

This is low-hanging fruit but: Absolutely refusing to admit that he knows the name of Will's instrument, just so he can keep calling it the wrong thing for YEARS. The most Dad Behavior imaginable.

Shoutout to everyone who likes Hush because that little motherfucker is TERRIBLE 😭😭

Spoilers for the newest vid under the cut

I already didn’t entirely like hush because of just the basic human concepts he struggles to get and doesn’t really spend a lot of time getting because he’s very deaf set on the only thing that’s clearly been explained to him (Helping CloseKnit succeed) but knowing that he’s basically Avior’s INCREDIBLY non consensual child is. Not fun.

Like obviously this is to say nothing of the writing on Erik’s part, it’s fucking Fantastic and that’s not what this post is about we don’t do that here- this is solely abt Hush’s character and being.

Because literally none of this is His Fault but his existence is inherently a constant reminder of the things that happen to Avior that he has No Choice in and what makes it worse is that Hush furthers this by following the commands of Elatum and Minarah, leaving Avior’s only two choices to be to let Hush do as he is told to or be destroyed.

Nah fuck all this, post scrapped, Hush is okay I just need to KILL Elatum and Minarah so Hush, Starlight, and Avior can be happy
