introducing: the crystalverse

TO BEGIN WITH: i don't describe myself as being in the dantdm fandom, or actually ANY fandom. i just really really really really like certain things and one of them is an old minecraft series i fixated on in 2014 and am still fixating on in 2024… autism

i've been working on this for a few years but because of my own anxiety and lack of skill this is the first time i've decided to really get out there and show my biggest passion project

the crystalverse is named after the graphic novel 'trayaurus and the enchanted crystal' that i wrote an alternate version of and then it kind of spiraled into its own extended au

takes place in the old lab, dan has brown hair, basically the same as the mod showcase/custom mod adventures before 2016

this universe's dan and trayaurus are in a relationship, dan is bisexual, trayaurus is asexual biromantic

the events of the graphic novel happen in the old lab, undecided if they're going to move

grim, craig the mailman, trayaurus' mother (named aurora) all canon with varying differences

there are some other youtubers, such as the ones dan was with in mcsm, but they're "old friends" he had to move away from them and the only person he really knows anymore is trayaurus

denton is also in the au until he isn't >:3 not trayaurus' brother

borderline forgotten character gets upgraded to main cast! denton's assistant/robot decoy? fin the elf (spelt as finn) was forced to work for him and was the subject of an "experiment" (read: physical, mental, verbal abuse) until he becomes dan and trayaurus' friend and lives near the lab.

finn has a pet black cat called dusty, friends with grim

in the second part of the au there's a b plot with finn's estranged parents. will go into more detail

dan is trans ftm and the black sheep of a rich family, part of why he moved to the middle of nowhere. his last name is everton instead of middleton

all the protagonists are autistic, dan and trayaurus have anxiety, finn has undiagnosed ptsd

I like live streams but I wish they were not the main form of mcyt content. Or at least not starting to become that. Like it....really is not a sustainable way to do every single smp you ever make. A lot of people don't have time to catch streams and barely have time to watch vods as well (and most people only watch 1-5 streamers. Imagine watching MORE.) LIFE SERIES is a challenge for me and lots of others to get through, let alone several 2-7 hour long livestreams.

Plus some people are gonna stop watching because they're only there for the lore and they'd rather save time than skim through several streams just to find it yk? After a certain point condensing them down into 15-30 (maybe 40) minute videos and making lore summaries is a necessity or your gonna lose viewers. (ESPECIALLY if you have a large cast meaning more characters to impact each other and the plot)

Idk I follow a lot of streamers and there's like...less than 10 who I have ever/would sit through a full stream from them, lore happening or not.

Detective Gamers AU

A sort-of Modern AU where the characters play Minecraft (or at least an RPG Minecraft-like game) and go through the same angst and hurt/comfort, but in a video game (they’re mostly fine in the real world). It’s a much more slice-of-life, fluffy AU compared to the other AUs where the majority of the angst and drama comes from the video games. The gaming stories will be based on/inspired by the various SMPs on YouTube, mainly Hermitcraft and Realms SMP.

A little bit of facts you guys should know based on the AU:

Yuma and Makoto are biologically twins in this AU

The world isn’t the real world and is still based on the game world

There is no Great Global Mystery or overarching storylines

The Detectives are still detectives (they just game on the side)

Shinigami exists as Yuma’s and Makoto’s older sister

Animation Vs Oregon Trail Info

(2024 edit: as of now, i unfortunately don't have time to make AVOT, nor the skills to make it yet, and the project i originally needed it for is no longer required, so unfortunately i won't be making AVOT as of now, but i still wanted to keep the posts up)

"What is Animation Vs Oregon Trail?"

Animation vs Oregon Trail, otherwise known as AVOT for short, is a fan made animation in progress, of the series "Animation Vs" by Alan Becker

This animation is being done entirely by me, for what started from a school project initially !

"What will AVOT be about?"

I don't want AVOT being a boring educational video, so I plan on implementing a storyline, whilst also still technically remaining educational (similar to how Animation Vs Math & Animation Vs Physics are)

In terms of storyline, I don't want to spoil it as much before the video is released, but from the image above, you can probablyy make a good assumption of how the video will start off

"Will AVOT be similar to Alan Becker's original videos?"

I am going to try my best to replicate the animation style of Alan Becker's animations, I have only started teaching myself animation in July, so I can't make any certain promises, but I guarantee you I will try my best :)

(and if it wasn't obvious, I'll credit Alan Becker in the video for the characters and for AVOT being heavily inspired by the series!!)

"When will AVOT be published/finished?"

As of right now, I don't have a set release date, as its still heavily in progress, and I also have irl responsibilities that I have to focus on as well ! My best estimate would probably be sometime in 2025 or late 2024, depending on how much im able to work on it !
