Ive recently started reading DC comics, and I have finally gotten to Duke Thomas and I can’t help but think that it’s really funny that fanon Duke Thomas is “the normal one” and is really nice and kind of anxious all the time and shocked by how weird the rest of the batfam is, because in reality Duke Thomas is literally the Percy Jackson of the Batfamily.

He’s so crazy and is always up to insane bullshit. He gets into a fight at school and goes “I’ve been at this school for 2 weeks- I’m getting better at this! last time it took me 3 days to get suspended.”

He gets shot for the first time and his FIRST THOUGHT is “how baller is that?!” My babygirl has no self preservation and a thirst for violence.

Any attitude you give him is returned tenfold. Duke immediately agrees to fight Damian the first time he meets him. Damian starts giving him shit and Duke says “No wonder nobody likes you.” You could be the damn president and Duke would still clock your ass (he probably would anyway. Duke Thomas is a major Cop hater!! Based!!)

He very quickly and very EASILY clocks that Dick Grayson is agent 37 and identifies the rest of the batfamily’s identities from that.

As much as I enjoyed reading Wayne Family Adventures, it did irreparable damage to the fandom’s perception of Duke Thomas.

Also I’ve only really just started reading stuff with Duke, so I’m sure he will change and evolve as i read more comics but like. There is no way that this current Duke becomes whatever fanon Duke Thomas is.
