Here’s the entire chat that was released today. The only message that’s been reported to be redacted is one from Ratcliffe that named his POC (point of contact) as the CIA’s Chief of Staff, her name was withheld on request from the CIA as traditionally active duty CIA officers/officials are not named to protect their identities as they may go undercover in the future. That makes sense, at least. This is damning. Everything about this should have only been in highside communications/SCIFs.
For reference: the message that Hegseth sent at 11:44 ET was about 30-45 mins before the fighter pilots even launched, and about 2 hours before any bombs dropped. If this information had gotten out, the Houthis could have moved locations in time, and could have shot down the planes. Also, the messages were set to disappear in 4 weeks. That’s illegal (as much as that matters anymore).
Put aside moral objections to the bombing and topic being discussed, objectively this is an incredibly dangerous, stupid and ludicrous breach of protocol that we only found out about because of Mike Waltz adding Goldberg, regardless of how that happened. How many other times did this occur that we don’t know about? Steven Witkoff, Trump’s Special Envoy to the Middle East who was in the chat, was literally in the KREMLIN when he was added to the chat on March 13 or 14. Waltz is the one taking responsibility right now, and while Trump has indicated that he’s not going to Fire Waltz as of the moment, it’s important to note that Waltz is one of the most pro-Ukraine officials in the Trump admin, and he’s been seen as disloyal and a weak link before this by other members of the Trump admin as he formerly advised Dick Cheney on counterterrorism, and anyone linked to Cheney (since he voted for Harris and everything with Liz Cheney) is currently viewed with suspicion by the GOP. It would be politically advantageous for the admin to have Waltz to take the fall and be pushed out, losing a voice more critical to Russia. I am not defending him, Cheney, or any of the GOP/Trump admin here. However, I think it would be foolish to not at least consider the far-reaching ramifications of this and how it may impact more going forward outside the current discussions in the media.
Also: if people are seriously undermining the story here because Goldberg’s a Zionist, boy I don’t know how to tell you that this is why Harris lost and the reason we’re here in the first place. This is such an important story and getting caught up in morality policing of everything is obfuscating the major issues here. We have to be realistic.
I’m not a political science major. I study epidemiology and history. But I’ve been studying geopolitics and US politics since I was 8, reading the news and staying on top of current events since then. I’m no expert, but I do have a pretty good grasp of these things and the larger context.
This is possibly the most insane national security story in the last 50 years. Includes a massive text chain between senior members of the Trump admin gaming out foreign policy and war plans on Signal, and they accidentally added a reporter to the group chat.

I think the punishment for discussing war plans on an unsecured messaging app should be eternal banishment to the shadow realm inside of Hillary Clinton's private email server.

Unqualified and irresponsible.
No one should trust anything they say. No ally should share anything with these criminals.
Hegseth tried to deny it happened in an abuser/rapists style denial and ad hominem attack.
The lying is 100% reflexive.

Trump National Security Advisor Mike Waltz immediately resumed bashing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after being asked if Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is really “ready for peace” on Fox News Monday.
Waltz began the conversation by lamenting the “ridiculous and unacceptable” Oval Office brawl between President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Zelensky last week and the fact that Zelensky is allegedly “not ready to talk peace at all.”
“I think President Zelensky truly did his country a real disservice by not having a positive outcome Friday,” said Waltz.
Anchor Bill Hemmer then recounted the European reaction to Friday’s blowup, noting that the the leaders of France, the U.K., and the European Union all expressed their support for both a ceasefire and long-term security guarantees for the Ukrainians, and that Zelensky had articulated his gratitude for the support of the West in his country’s war effort.

"If Kamala wins, only death and destruction await because she is the candidate of endless wars,” declaimed Donald Trump at a rally in Michigan, on the Friday before the election. “I am the candidate of peace.” In a typically ridiculous rhetorical flourish, Trump added: “I am peace.” Nevertheless, despite the ridiculousness, the president-elect in recent weeks succeeded in connecting with plenty of of anti-war voters tired of the United States’ “forever wars”. He went to Dearborn, the “capital” of Arab America, attacked Kamala Harris for campaigning with the pro-war Cheneys, and came away with an endorsement from a local imam who called him the “peace” candidate. In fact, I have lost count of the number of leftists who have told me in recent months: “Trump didn’t start any new wars.” Sorry, what? Trump spent his four years in the White House escalating every single conflict that he inherited from Barack Obama. Many have forgotten that Trump bombed the Assad government in Syria twice; dropped the “mother of all bombs” on Afghanistan; illegally assassinated Iranian general Qasem Soleimani on Iraqi soil; armed Saudi Arabia’s genocide in Yemen; and made John Bolton his national security adviser. Few are even aware that Trump launched more drone strikes in his first two years in office than Obama, dubbed “the drone president”, did across eight years in office. But this time, we were told, it would be different. This time Trump meant it. No more war! No more neocons! Some took heart from Trump’s very public rejection of arch-hawks Mike Pompeo and Nikki Haley. Others signal-boosted efforts by RFK Jr, Don Jr and Tucker Carlson to block neoconservative figures from joining the new Trump-Vance administration. “I’m on it,” bragged Trump’s eldest failson. [...] But this is the Trump playbook: run as a dove, govern as a hawk. It’s what he did in 2016 and again this year. Attack neocons; get elected; hire neocons. So “Donald the dove”, as Maureen Dowd of the New York Times once put it? If only. Whether it is on domestic policy or foreign policy, Trump remains a conman. Don’t take my word for it. Take his new secretary of state’s.
Mehdi Hasan for The Guardian on Donald Trump's deceitful lie that he is "anti-war" (11.13.2024).
Mehdi Hasan wrote an opinion piece in The Guardian debunking the nonsensical “Donald The Dove” crap that falsely pitches Donald Trump as “anti-war”, when in reality, he is as pro-war as it gets.

It’s important we not lose sight of the fact that the most powerful government officials on the planet talk like a bunch of game forum incels in private.

The way I truly have nothing to say about the fact that a journalist from The Atlantic was accidentally added to a top-secret war-planning group chat on an unsecured texting app run by the same people who brought you "but her emails." I'm so fucking tired.
