to my fellow lds/Mormon/ex Mormon/limbo-Mormon friends, please, for the love of all things holy, listen to Native people.
I cannot iterate this enough: the Book of Mormon will not teach you about Native people or Native history. Period.
only actively seeking Native people and their art, work, culture, etc then listening to it and interacting as you are allowed to will do that.
it is so so important to acknowledge that the BoM will teach you about Mormon faith and cosmology, it will teach you about Joseph Smith and the religious and moral questions he was asking, it will teach you life lessons like any religious text will. It will not teach you any sort of comprehensive or accurate information about Native people and their lives.
Find out whose land you’re on. Enroll in a beginners language class if you can. Support Native businesses. Go to Native events that are open to non-Native people. Promote Native voices. Educate yourself. Stand up with Native people when they want and need support.
I have a lot of love for Mormonism. It’s the religion I grew up in and I still am fascinated by the cosmology and doctrine. I think it has a lot to give, and I am not saying this to shit on Mormons.
I’m saying this because the sooner people acknowledge the racist foundations of this religion the sooner they can hold both the good and bad in their hands and try to promote the good. Imo, we cannot fully love a religion until we acknowledge its faults and actively work to stop them from causing more damage. Hold the contradictions close to you and acknowledge their existence. Don’t look away from them. Please.
As far as I know there isn’t a single religion in the world that is perfect, that has never incorporated racism into its doctrine, and that has the ability to define another group of people better than they can define themselves.
so please, listen to Native people.

I wonder what Garp's reaction was when he first saw Sabo's bounty poster. Did he recognize Sabo? I mean he doesn't look that different than he did as a child, he's just taller with longer hair and has a cool scar now but his outfit is literally almost exactly the same as when he was a kid.
Anyone who knew Sabo as a child could look at adult Sabo and think 'Yeah that's definitely the same person.'
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So like, did Garp realize Sabo wasn't actually dead when he saw his bounty poster?? When did that happen? Was it before Dressrosa when Sabo came back? What if Garp knew that Sabo wasn't actually dead years before Luffy did and Garp just never told him? I do like to imagine Garp looking through the wanted posters of all of the Revs (to keep tabs on who his son is spending time with) and coming across Sabo's and sitting there so confused like... "I thought he was dead. Didn't he get blown up a kid?? Did he fake his fucking death as a 10-year-old??? Did Dragon leave me his own child just to go adopt his son's brother wtf????" Like he has to pull out an old picture of Sabo as a child to compare to the poster and then sits there questioning his existence.
On the flip side though, what if Garp saw the poster and just didn't recognize Sabo at all? I think that would also be kinda funny.

Something is making my brain itch about this father-daughter (assuming that’s their relationship) and the lack of second parent and the beagle.
Tumblr media
There is also the conundrum of the check shirt! Check shirts usually mean impending danger for the wearer and so it has me wondering if whatever happens to this man will be foreshadowing something happening to Eddie?!
But there is also something about this still that is giving me a throw back to Eddie’s introduction to 911 and the 118 - that they’re going to somehow parallel Buck becoming part of Eddie and Chris’s family - something around Buck introducing Eddie to Carla so that he could get Chris what he needed and build a life and a family in LA.
There’s something about the idea that the show might make this parallel at the moment Eddie is leaving the 118 - to really drive it home what Eddie is leaving by moving to Texas - because it would hit hard for both Eddie and Buck - highlighting that they’ve both built their family together at the moment it’s seemingly going to be torn apart.
But in juxtaposition to this, there’s also something about the idea of the beagle metaphorically representing Buck or Bucks abandonment issues more specifically.
Buck rescuing the beagle from a shelter because it has seemingly been abandoned by its family in the same way Buck feels abandoned by his own family throughout his life. Buck getting attached to the beagle is a metaphor for Buck clinging to his abandonment issues because they’re safe because they’re what he knows - what he’s loved with all his life (so being abandoned by Eddie (and Chris) is fine because that’s what happens to him).
Only for him to find out the beagle actually does have a family who miss and love it and they get to be reunited - Buck can make that happen.
So reuniting dog and family is also symbolic of Buck saving himself - letting go of his abandonment issues - and by doing that - by rescuing himself - he can be reunited with his family - Eddie and Chris will come back to him - come back for him.

I don't know if this is as interesting as I think it is, but what shenanigans would ensue if Albert and Jordan randomly switched bodies for a day? This can be whatever time in their relationship you think would be the most interesting/funny. Would they be able to succesfully mimic each other without causing suspicion?

Can somebody explain to me like I’m 5 why tf didn’t Feyre at least try to shapeshift into her Illyrian form when she was literally on death’s doorstep during labour?
We get that vague explanation at the beginning of the book about the shapeshifting and using of magic possibly not being good for the baby. But when both her and Rhys are about to die, shouldn’t you at least try it? What is the worst that can happen? they’ll die? well they are about to anyway, so why not try it, at least?
And also side note: How did Cassian survived getting gutted, but fae women die during c-sections?!

Tetris Fanart.
I've been playing tetris while listening to horror podcasts. and yeah
#text#art#eyestrain#cw eystrain#bright colors#cw bright colors#tetris#nintendo#god i dont know what to tag this with. i dont wanna tag it with the podcasts themselves cuz that feels disingenuous. swagever#i actually started this piece a while ago. ok yeah looking at the date that was almost 3 weeks ago wow#but i finally decided to bring it back and finish it#ive been getting back into digital art and its been really nice. its nice having finished pieces.#ive been trying to get weirder with my art. like this piece was weirdly 'personal' in a sense#its been my unique experience listening to these pieces of media. the game in the bg is jsut as important to my experience as the art itsel#the looming sense of dread these podcasts give fit weirdly well with the high tension of some of these games of tetris#i wanted to have that sorta weird ominous vibe to it. have even the pieces feel loud and threatening.#and the gameplay being Past the ds itself is something i thought could be neat#ykno the tetris effect? where you play a bunch and then after you see the shapes everywhere;you play it in your mind?#that was part of what i wanted to channel there. but also like; how your attention works with this stuff#i might be looking straight at the ds but my attention is elsewhere; my brain is in another world#the game is still inescapable tho. tetris effect whatever. these stories stick in my brain just as much.#its all given me some. very very annoyingn anxiety. but i have to go back to them. like a moth to a flame etc. hince the moth climbing out#but uh yeah. that set up was my life for a few weeks whenever i had free time.#the main podcast this is about was magnus btw <- not typing full name so im not on the tag#and uh.#objectum#yeah i think. i think yeah.

Okay, review time!! If you are one of the oddballs who thinks you cant be critical of something you love I suggest you stop reading now before I ruffle your feathers. Iron flame, second in the empyrean series. I am gonna start with what I was not a fan of and then go into the shit I adored.
1) what in the actual fuck was the pacing of this book?? I can tell you what, it was non existent. There was none. Where I thought there was a lot of filler in the last book there was none in this one. We got snap shots of conversations and then *boom* more plot flew at you. The timeline of this book greatly suffered for it i think bc we end only a couple weeks, if that, after threshing, which happens sometimes in October. This book was actually so wild with times.
2) while it was a spectacular cliff hanger, xaden becoming venin pisses me off. Especially if Rebecca yarros isnt going to have him tell violet. Like if that small tid bit of a conversation we got wasnt him telling vi that he was venin then the entire romantic conflict of this book was rendered pointless and their going to be having the same fucking fight for the rest of the series and at rhat point I give up.
3) I understand that the revolution is trying to take down basgaith and make the world better or whatever the fuck but can someone actually formulate a real plan for me?? Because I feel like their mission is just, giving violet and xaden something to be pissed at each other about.
4) the entirety of cats character. I get that she was set up as a spin on the typical jealous ex. Like having her be bitter about xaden picking violet over her but OH WAIT it wasnt actually about the man it was about the crown, oohh not like other girls. Im a writer too I see the point. I dont care. I think it was trashy. If you wanted her to be a bitter spiteful ex then have her be a bitter spiteful ex, the whole crown thing was shallow.
OKAY haters your time is up now onto the shit that made my heart hurt with joy and sadness
1) xadens arc in this book. I really liked that he went from "transparency is never gonna happen" to losing his fucking mind over violet and giving her everything. I love feral men and he qualifies. I think his arc was really well done and i liked it.
2) I appericiate that violet stuck to her guns for this book. She wouldnt let xaden off without a fight and I loved that. She made him bow and scrape and I was eating it up. It was spectacular.
3) the throne room scene. Violet on the throne. "Im making a temporary point not a lasting vow of maschocism" xaden being feral.
4) that gets its own point actually, just xaden being completely feral this entire book healed a part of my soul.
5) andarna's little speech at the end where she was like "I waited for you violet" made me ugly cry. That was just so hopelessly good I loved it. Andarna in general heals my heart but that part was just *chefs kiss*
6) tarin being completely and utterly ready to eat people this entire book. Just, at every turn "I want lunch their pissing me off " was spectacular
7) every scene their squad was in. Rihannon, violet, sawyer and ridoc are my roman empire. Their bond is so amazing. The fact that they launched a rescue mission for violet. Rihannon being ready to kill xaden at every turn. Ridoc being so platonically and adorably in love with violet. Just- augh happy cries happy cries. I love it all. Their so special tbh.
8) I love xaden actually, just, the whole book every scene hes in lives in my brain.
9) I liked that we saw a small bit of violet being feral this book too. I hope that we get more of that in future books. I want more of violet losing her fucking mind. Hot, badass women covered in blood
10) Liam. Fucking Liam. When violet was kidnapped and Liam was there. Now, do I logically understand that he was a hallucination, yes, do i care?? No. He was a gift from Maleck I will be hearing no critiques on that. It was so fucking sweet and amazing. I love violet and Liam and Liam being dead so horribly breaks my heart. I loved Liam. Liams death lives rent free in my skull.

I’m not usually opposed to hcs but this “Ares used dark quick thought to help Odysseus in 600 strike” and other divine intervention theories are getting OUT OF HAND ITS THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE (TLDR at the end)
To start, Vengeance saga hit as hard as it did because Odysseus is all alone. Just listen to the intro of dangerous, the pause where the crew should’ve sung in response like in Full Speed Ahead. Because of all the choices he’s made, he’s fully alone now, and this is the first time he’s ever had to fight without his crew. Charybdis being a mortal facing up against a huge unsurvivable monster AND WINNING is what makes it so POWERFUL, and same goes with GITW/ 600 Strike. It’s the most impactful as a 1v1, Odysseus facing the cause of all his grief throughout the musical, he himself delivering every blow onto Poseidon on behalf of his dead crew. It’s CATHARTIC for him, and for us as the audience, because it’s a perfect ending to what Poseidon started in Ruthlessness when he taught Odysseus to be ruthless.
Dark Quick Thought also just kinda. Cheapens his character development. Dark quick thought inherently causes rage according to Jorge, basically making them more ruthless. If we relegate the reason Odysseus was so enraged and ruthless in straight up torturing Poseidon to Ares’ Dark Quick Thought, that just makes all the build up of Odysseus learning to use ruthlessness and to be a monster worthless. Dark QT isn’t why he’s acting so cold and ruthless; it’s all that he’s endured, forcing him to transform into a monster that disregards all morals just to get home, just to survive. It was Odysseus’ own decision to become a monster, like he literally said “I’m gonna use ruthlessness” in the song Dangerous, not because of any Dark QT influence. The fact that all his rage is coming only from himself, from his grief and exhaustion, and not Dark QT makes this moment all the more haunting.
The fact that this is the climax of his transformation is, and I’m not joking when I say this, illustrated by the line “next to my wife”. The whole musical “sleeplessness” (lol) has always been an indicator of guilt. E.g. “until it is said I cannot rest” “I no longer dream only nightmares of those who died” “I could sleep at night” etc. Even in LiP he was still haunted by guilt, since he’s trapped in Ogygia it feels like all he’s sacrificed has been completely worthless — he killed his whole crew for nothing. His response to Poseidon asking him how he’d sleep at night was “next to my wife”, showing he’s truly “thrown his guilt away” all to get home to see his wife — the only thing he cares about now.
Last thing, the gods just don’t like directly interfering in each others business. Hermes gave Odysseus a windbag and advice but that was it, hes still on his own at the end of the day. There’s a reason for why Athena didn’t ask Zeus to tell Poseidon to chill, why Hermes didn’t directly beat Zeus up for Odysseus. That helps make God Games MORE IMPACTFUL, because here are the gods, stubborn and set in their ways against directly helping mortals, and here’s Athena going through the trouble to request divine intervention ANYWAY, all for her friend. It makes no sense for any other god to randomly come and help Odysseus when they don’t even know the man.
I have no problem with people having fun imagining what would happen if the gods had helped Odysseus fight Poseidon, I’m just really frustrated bc I see so many people say this is “what actually happened” or “what should’ve happened” instead of being a fun hypothetical. There is no proof at all that any other gods came to help Odysseus in 600 Strike; the red eyes in the animatic is literally just symbolic and acts as contrast to Poseidon’s blue glowing gills on his shirt during the darkened torture scene.
TLDR: Direct divine intervention in 600 strike makes Odysseus’ isolation less impactful, cheapens his transformation into a ruthless monster and is just not realistic for the gods to do since they don’t interfere with each others business much.

Cole!Trip’s anger is different from every other Trip’s anger. I think of it like a blue flame. It’s not as huge and consistent as other Trips’ anger is, which I think of as an orange flame. His Trip’s anger is quieter and more hidden behind a trained facade, but when you get too close or he gets too caught up and consumed by it, it’s hotter and more dangerous. But he works to keep it under wraps. Instead of immeditaly going to violence, he tries to shut down instead. Like in JFT when Marcia gets up and goes to Cherry, he shoves his hands into his pockets and maybe balls them into fists cause he feels the anger coming but he knows it’s best to just shut down. But then suddenly Paul is yelling and Cherry is denying and blaming them instead of the kid who stabbed Bob and it’s like gas is being thrown into what is normally his small and hot flame. Suddenly it’s like it’s exploding. It becomes a huge and blazing fire that consumes and burns everything in its path.

"why would you ship mizu and taigen together they're sooooo toxic ugh taigen is AWFUL and mizu should be with ME instead!!!"
of course they're toxic they're both deranged and terrible and that's why they're perfect for each other.
cuz like omg you think mizu would treat you well? mizu would abandon you. look at how she left ringo multiple times. ringo who treats her so well and is nothing but patient and caring and loyal. if you are insecure she will laugh at you because she has no social tact. look at how mikio said "it's a stupid dream" talking about his ambitions of regaining his honour and mizu straight up chuckles and tells him he's right because it IS a stupid dream. and at this point their relationship was cordial and she was even warming up to him!
like. arguably, taigen would be a better romantic partner (per the ideals of his time and culture of course), or at least he would be on paper. cuz i mean as a husband, as he is now, i think he'd be awful. but i'm talking about if you and him were dating or courting or just seeing each other romantically, he would be good to you. like we saw how he behaved with akemi and he was nothing but sweet and gentle. the very reason akemi wanted to marry him so bad was because she KNOWS without a doubt that he respects women and would treat her well. "oh but he cheated on her with the prostitutes while celebrating his engagement!" yeah but per the norms of the time and place, it was not considered cheating and akemi (as well as any wife or romantic partner of that period) would not have minded or even cared.
and yes taigen IS an asshole and he IS obnoxious but come on. so is mizu, if she is allowed to act like herself around you. mizu will tease you and mock you and challenge you and even poke at your insecurities (see:her goading mikio on even though he clearly did not view her teasing as light-hearted banter and took it all very personally). she would tell you to your face if she thinks you're being annoying (see:mizu rolling her eyes and telling akemi to straight up just "shut up" when she'd believed mizu had killed taigen).
mizu is not merely a hot and talented badass with a sword and the insane hyperfocus on her desire for revenge which literally drives her to withstand like, extreme amounts of damage and survive it. mizu is also flawed and the show does a good job at showcasing this, and showing us that she's not merely a victim but also a multilayered person. we see throughout that mizu is blunt and sarcastic and prideful.
oh what's that? oh right, very similar to taigen, who is also hot and talented with a sword and with insane hyperfocus on his desire to duel mizu and regain his honour. taigen who is also flawed (though, arguably, more so) as he is blunt and sarcastic and prideful.
the only thing that sets mizu and taigen apart is the fact that taigen is a man and is not mixed race, which thus affects their positions in society and how people perceive them. these are external factors. taigen being a boy who is not blue-eyed allowed him to easily mingle with the other kids in the village, all of whom were similarly fed the same prejudiced values which led them to gang up against mizu and bully her.
but take all that away. strip them down to the bare essentials. suddenly it's like they are the same person copy and pasted.
and that's what makes them even more interesting. yes absolutely they would be toxic. whatever souls are made of, mizu's and taigen's are the same (derogatory). and we literally see them fight all the time!!!! but the thing is they are both deranged when it comes to this.
do you get me. they both literally get turned on by sparring. mizu's whole spar with mikio was her way of flirting. just look at how she smirked at him and said "unsheathe it" like it's clear that this is an innuendo of not just unsheathing his weapon but also what's in his pants. then during the chopsticks fight with taigen in the snow, despite mizu literally being injured and taigen trying to attack her, mizu gets attracted to him. meanwhile taigen got a boner after wrestling with her in the forge.
taigen goes around saying he wants to kill mizu to regain his honour but he still literally risks life and limb for her constantly. mizu gives ringo stomach ulcers by going around flinging herself into near-death situations 24/7. she ups and leaves her beloved swordfather with barely a goodbye twice to pursue her batshit far-fetched quest for revenge (against people she doesn't even KNOW btw because she literally starts off with practically No Leads and not even knowing the NAMES of the white men who are her maybe-fathers).
these bitches are crazy and you know what good for them. that shit needs to be contained and quarantined though and that's why in that sense they would be good together.
i want to put them both in a jar and shake it very hard and see what happens. personally i think they will argue and insult each other while working perfectly in sync with each other to break out of the jar and then proceed to kill me and make out sloppy style over my dead body while they're both covered in blood.
like that's it that's the dynamic. send post.
