I don't understand why people are mad about Francesca and Michaela. "deviates from the book" "oh she only falls in love w Michael after she's widowed" "john was the love of her life" Y'all should have seen sense SOONER. She deviated from the book version a longgg time ago and these people only complain the moment a lesbian storyline is introduced.
John might have been the love of her life in the BOOK BUT literally series Francesca is not actually in love with him. We can see her hesitation way before Michaela is introduced. That's why even Violet tries to object to it a few times. She has seen herself and her kids in love before - and Francesca just seemed to be "agreeable" with the marriage. There was no big excitement. (some might argue that's just the way some people are in love and while that's ok, she clearly goes into gay panic with michaela so no, I don't think Francesca is one of those people.)
She sees John, who reminds her so much of herself and finds herself being very fond of him. She knows why marriage is important in the ton and would rather marry John, a man she clearly adores, than some other guy she wouldn't like. She had seen her fair share of guys being creepy so she tries to do the wise thing and gets married to JOHN. She's not actually in love with him. Even she doesn't know that because she's never had romantic feelings much before. She loves him but it's not the same. It was never the same as the book. Grow up.

I'm really not trying wade into discourse when I don't know how deep it is, but some things I'm thinking I want us to consider when it comes to Francesca. They are things that I take for granted, as someone who's dissected my bisexuality to hell and back.
One person is capable of different types of love (romantic and sexual) for different people. Having one type of attraction for a new person does not automatically invalidate any feelings you genuinely had for an old person.
I will grant that Francesca is probably not the nuanced ace- or aro-spec rep a lot of us were hoping for. But as I've seen some people say, as a bi person, her story makes total sense.
I love John, and I believe that Francesca loves him. They've kissed like once, and for a lot of bi people, attraction to some people only builds the more physical intimacy you have with them. And then the same person could have someone that they're immediately physically attracted to, apropos of nothing but seeing them. (See: responsive vs. spontaneous desire).
Francesca might have fumbled over her words, but I don't think Michaela was a case of love at first sight. I think Francesca is bi, and her brain malfunctioned when she saw a cute girl. Checks out. John is a love that is formed from deep friendship, a genuine life partner and loving companion. Michaela has the makings of a love that is totally different from John, but one that is no more or less honest and real and true.
I'm not a book reader, but I have rewatched every Julia Cudney video about Bridgerton S1 many, many times. My understanding is that Francesca's story is unique among the books for proving that you can have multiple loves, and that every time you fall in love, it's going to feel at least a little different than it did the last time.
Francesca says herself that she's finding out who she is. She's questioning. So let's let her do that??
... Please?

Okay so after processing this (beautiful, amazing, drama-filled) bridgerton season i'v got to lay this out (spoilers ahead)
I'm talking about part 2 because everything in Part 1 was a set up for Part 2
So Dear Gentle Readers,
I loved this season so so much i could shout for all of Mayfair to hear !!!
firstly, the character development for the featheringtons, especially mama featherington was insane. The talk between her and pen about why she is the way she is had me crying fr. She was so proud of Pen for achieving something she didnt think was possible for women at the time..
Pen and Eloise made up in a way that felt so natural like deep down they still cared about each other and when eloise realised why pen did became LW she finally supported her
our boy Ben is finally bi ! And he is not the only one ! Frannie was already a bundle of nerves when she laid eyes in her like girl you got a husband now!
i expected eloise to be queer honestly because her story in the books doesnt really make sense to me..in the end she did marry like everyone else and gave birth like everyone else and gave up her dreams of changing the world..i really hope they give eloise a better story than that because she is such a complex character and they can achieve so much if they just do it right..here's hoping they do her character justice
i'm so happy they included introverted characters cause i really felt seen 😭 it's true when 2 introverts find each other they rogether try to do things out of their comfort zone because they know they have each others backs (maybe it's just me) but i truly loved them
and Kate omgg every time i see her she just gets more beautiful. she so intelligent and supportive and kind i can't- anthony couldn't have gotten more luckier i swear-
AND nicola. coughlan. just her. everything about her. she is THE most iconic person. she came, expressed her solidarity for palestine, represented the perfect breasts community, and left us all speechless. what a QUEEN
Netflix pulled this off really well, i had really low expectations after Part 1 but they redeemed themselves in Part 2...this is really my favorite season thus far
~ Yours truly Lady whistledown

My initial Bridgerton thoughts after spoiler scenes and before actually watching part 2 are only:
1. Bit worried about the fact that nothing is Polin related, even with the mirror scene coming.
2. Bi Benedict + threesome... I'm seated. With a drink.
3. Francesca's "Michael" becoming "Michaela" and being so gorgeous and outgoing and so the opposite of Francesca that it takes her breathe away...
Shoot it in my veins right now. If you don't I will die soon and haunt all of you until we see them live up to the frequency of Daphne and the duke's onscreen shenanigans.
LET THEM SCISSOR, DAMN IT. SHONDA I AM IN YOUR WALLS UNTIL THE APPROPRIATE AMOUNT OF SCISSORING IS DONE.

BRIDGERTON SEASON 3 SPOILERS
I am calling this RIGHT NOW. The way Francesca’s expression immediately fell after kissing Lord Kilmarton. The way she immediately went into a panic after meeting Lady Kilmarton, stumbling over her words, clearly flustered. We all thought it was Eloise but that…
That, my friends. That is a lesbian.

I hope the writers of Bridgerton know they have both a civic duty and the chance to do some of the funniest scenes ever by keeping the Colin / Michaela friendship as it was in the books
1) cause they will be funny (and make the haters mad)
2) cause they mean a lot to me
3) cause Colin actually having almost only female friends makes the most sense and should be canon
and 4) cause it gives the writers a nice chance to parallel Polin which - as I said in 1) - will be funny. Imagine having flirt coach Colin try to give Mic the same advice he gave Pen and then having to realise… wait … that’s shit advice that only works if you’re in love with your student OR constantly telling Mic she’s doing things wrong cause he’s comparing her to Pen and she’s (spoiler) not Pen OR imagine him absolutely deviating from said advice and when someone points it out him just shrugging like huh. Yeah. I see what I did there 💁
Anywho, basically their relationship means a lot to me and I do hope they keep it cause having a Bridgerton root for their relationship and help them would actually be so very important! (that’s actually the main reason shhhh)

I finished Bridgerton and while i adored second part of the season (my favorite episodes so far) I do have a problem with how they handled Francesca x Violet argument about love, because in the end it's what? Violet has been right all along and there's only one type of love? I don't want that to be true because it's simply not. They could still have Francesca x John x Michaela storyline but must they wrote it like that? Francesca has the same experience that her mother did and that's how we're supposed to know that's her true love? I don't like it, I don't believe it and I wish it was written better, because while I love all of the Bridgertons, Francesca and her storyline with John is the first one I saw myself in. So it's rather painful to see writers going 'haha jk, she was in fact wrong about love all this time'.
