Hi! 😊
Can I request a fluffy long oneshot with prompts: "Uh-m, S-scott? I'm not too s-sure about t-this one..", "Can I see?" and "Wow... you look... you look amazing." about Scott Pilgrim (Scott Pilgrim Take Off ) shy!female!reader are going to the swimsuit shopping at mall? How would Scott reacts to shy!female!reader trying on/modeling five swimsuits for him?
Hint: This swimsuit shopping idea was Ramona who gives a advice to her for catching Scott's attention. 😂
I really live for flustered Scott Pilgrim! 💕 Please??
Mayhem Market
[Scott Pilgrim x Shy!Female!Reader]
Synopsis: You thought trying on bathing suits would be terrifying. That changed, however, when you noticed his eyes.
WC: 1243
Category: Fluff
Sorry it took so long 😭🙏
『••✎••』
Bathing suit shopping is always something you dreaded doing. You didn't really like the attention that you got while out in public. The stares you would get as you walked through the store always made you feel nervous and self-conscious. And you weren’t very comfortable in a swimsuit at all, but since it was summer and you had promised Scott you would go to his band's beach party, you had to suck it up and try to find one you would feel comfortable wearing.
Ramona figured the occasion would be the perfect way to “bring you out of your shell" and practically forced you to make a bet. Pick five different swimsuits, model each one, and if you still hated shopping after, she would do your laundry for a month. If you enjoyed yourself, then she’d get free use of your awesome sound system. You accepted, though not without hesitation.
The catch, however, was that you had to try them on for Scott. And she didn’t tell you until the two of you were already in the store. Ramona made sure you didn’t bail (which she knew you would) by dragging you there herself. In her mind, Scott was going to be the judge.
And there you were, trying on your third swimsuit, which was a black and white striped tankini. You weren’t sure if you were actually going to get it, but the top fit well, and the bottom had a built-in skirt. You looked cute in it if nothing else.
A bit low-cut but still cute. To everyone else? Well, you could practically hear the future rumors. Possibly the few whistles you would receive.
Scott, on the other hand, would think you were adorable. He was kind of like that.
So, with that in mind, you took a deep breath and pushed open the curtain, walking out into the brightly lit fitting area. Upon seeing his eyes, your arms quickly rubbed at the exposed skin of your shoulders and upper chest, and you avoided his gaze, face burning.
"Uh… Scott? I’m… I’m not too sure about this one."
It was silent for a moment, and then he suddenly jumped to his feet, staring at you in disbelief.
"Wow. You look... you look amazing."
You finally looked at him, and for that one second in your life, everything just disappeared. Your mind wasn’t focused on someone else, or your fears, or any other thought in the world. It was focused on his eyes, the magical look he was giving you, the fact that the blush on his face matched yours and that his smile was so warm and genuine that it made you want to melt.
"I—really?” Your voice squeaked out. Pure excitement shot through you. You had never really been called beautiful or gorgeous by anyone. Not even Scott. Sure, he would occasionally tell you that you looked nice, but that was about it.
Scott was about as socially awkward as you were… probably why you two made such a good couple.
So hearing him say those words now was… unexpected, to say the least.
"Yeah! I mean it! You look so… wow," He spoke with a sigh, a daze falling over his eyes as he took in every detail.
You could feel your entire face heating up. Your heart started pounding. And for once, you were speechless.
“The other two were okay… but this one? You really rock this one, y'know." He was grinning from ear to ear as he approached you. You couldn’t stop staring into his eyes. He had an awed expression on his face, his eyes wide and his mouth slightly parted.
You had never seen him look at you like that before. It was such a nice feeling.
"Thank you," You managed to speak up, a smile on your face.
"You still got two more, right? If this one is any indication of how you'll look in the others, we're gonna have to keep the water cold at the beach because you are smoking hot… uh... in a good way... and—"
"Okay!" You spun on your heel, dragging the curtain closed. Enough was enough; you were so red it looked like your head was on fire. It took you a minute or so to cool off, but you finally calmed down enough to finish the final two.
The next one, you refused to show him. The bikini was way too revealing for you; it looked good, but… nope, nope. It would’ve drawn too much attention, almost to the point where Envy would be jealous.
Okay, maybe you’re over-exaggerating, but the thought of people staring at you like that made your stomach turn. That was definitely a no-go.
So you settled on showing him the final one. It was a one-piece suit with a halter top and a little bow at the hip. Much more conservative than the others.
"What about this one?"
Scott blinked as you came back out again and then transitioned to his thinking face. Oh God, please don’t let him say anything stupid, you prayed.
"I like the third one better.”
“Oh.”
“This is still good, but the third one was just perfect. Y'know? The stripes. The skirt. Just everything about it was …”
Revealing? Over-the-top? Attention-grabbing?
Scott shrugged, and his words faded. He smiled and gave you an awkward thumbs-up. He may be bad with words, but at least he was honest. Most guys would have said something flirty, but Scott would never do that. He didn't even know how.
That was fine. You liked the way he complimented you.
"Okay. Thanks, Scott." You said, turning to head back inside the dressing room.
"So, are you gonna get it?"
You paused. Were you?
Your options didn’t leave you with much. Buy it and lose… don’t and win? But then you’re stuck with the one at home. Which, in hindsight, didn't seem all that bad, except it was too comfortable and most likely would feel out of place at the beach party.
Or, you could buy it, suck it up, and go to the damn beach party.
"Scott… I- I don’t know. Maybe.."
"Come on. We'll have fun! I promise. Get it. You look great in it. Plus, anything you wear will be overshadowed by Envy’s bathing suit. You’ll fit in!
“Scott! That doesn’t make me… never mind." You shook your head, fearing for the result of an argument in the middle of a department store. You’d scold him in the car.
"Okay. I'll buy it. But if I get any weird looks or stares, I'm blaming you." You threatened though you couldn't hide the amusement in your voice. Scott tended to be the anchor in these situations. He always managed to cheer you up and keep you calm, even when you were ready to have a mental breakdown.
"Deal." Scott grinned, his hands shoved in his pockets as he watched you disappear behind the curtain. "I'll be waiting outside the door. I'm starving."
You could practically hear the smile in his voice. You had to resist the urge to laugh.
"Okay, thanks."
After a quick change back into your normal clothes, you grabbed the suit and headed out before immediately being met with Ramona
"Sooo?" She asked. You could practically hear the smile in her voice. She knew, and you despised her for it.
"I’m buying it." You sighed.
"I knew to stick around long enough, I'd hear those words. Pay up, Scott. She's a model now!"
"Oh, yeah." Scott pulled out his wallet, and you watched with wide eyes as Ramona took it.
She smiled, the usual one she wore whenever she had the upper hand.
"Hey! What happened to our deal!?" You questioned, crossing your arms.
"I never said I’d make only one bet with you. Decided to tag team."
"You two are jerks."
"We love you, too. Now hurry up and pay. Scott's hungry, and I want to hit the dyes before we go home."
You glared but headed towards the register regardless.
You had to admit, the whole situation had been fun. Not the whole part where Ramona got to use your stereo, but the fact that you could still see the look on Scott's face as he praised you.
He really thought you were pretty. Beautiful, as he put it. Maybe you could look past the other glaring eyes for the sake of seeing that expression on his face once more.
Besides, if Envy could handle a million stares, you can handle a few.
At least, you hoped.

I’m watching Scott Pilgrim. It’s been ok overall. I enjoyed the first two episodes very much.
Third kinda sucked. Fourth really sucked. That was Chris’ episode and I thought it was the worst one so far. He is in the series more than he is in the movie. His voice as Lucas Lee is still as good as in the movie, but his performance just isn’t as good opposite Mary Winstead (this could be a potential spoiler so I’ll caption below). His performance didn’t work the same way it did against Kieran Culkin and Michael Cera in the movie, so it fell flat for me. It was just really dull. His character in the Anime just doesn’t hit the same way as in the movie.
there’s two lines of dialogue from Chris that will be ironic humor for the fandom, lol, that I won’t ruin.
I liked Wallace, Young Neil, and Knives additional character expansion. Kim’s character expansion isn’t really hitting because her deadpan tone and facial expression doesn’t hit the same way in animation. Julie is ok too I guess. Brie Larson is freaking fantastic as Envy. She might be my favorite. Brandon Routh is also good with her. I think the character of Envy works for both animation and live-action
Potential Spoiler
_______________
I can’t stand Ramona Flowers. She’s manic pixie dream girl and she’s just dull to me. I don’t really care for Mary Winstead’s voice performance either. Scott’s a much better character and Michael Cera is much better voice actor/actor in general. I won’t expand why that makes me like the series less as I don’t want to ruin things.
_______________
I’m on episode 6 and this one is ok like episode 3. It is very different from the movie in case anyone is wondering.
Anyway, the fandom is really quiet. 1. Less fans in general 2. The fans that are remaining aren’t posting or creating as much content. 3. There wasn’t a press tour so not much to talk about Chris in general. 4. Literally all Chris has done lately is connected to AB (wedding articles, visiting Portugal) and not many fans care for her, so less talk, chatter, engagement, etc. 5. The series is funny at times but uneven for me over all. Hopefully it gets better!
Ramona very much is a creation of her time, 2004 (for the original comics series). That was the high tide time for the Manic Pixie Dream Girl. I'm so, so glad that trope died.
Thank you for your viewer review!

Review: I Saw the TV Glow (2024)
I Saw the TV Glow (2024)
Rated PG-13 for violent content, some sexual material, thematic elements and teen smoking
<Originally posted at https://kevinsreviewcatalogue.blogspot.com/2024/06/review-i-saw-tv-glow-2024.html>
Score: 4 out of 5
I Saw the TV Glow is a movie that's probably gonna stick with me for a while. Even as somebody who didn't necessarily have the queer lens that writer/director Jane Schoenbrun brought to the film, it still hit me like a sack of bricks, a fusion of nostalgia for the kids' and teen horror shows of the '90s, a deconstruction of that nostalgia and of our relationship with the media we love, a coming-of-age tale about not fitting in and living in a miserable world, and modern creepypasta and analog horror influences, all building to an ending where the anticlimactic note it wrapped up on wound up serving as a very grim and appropriate coda suggesting that nothing good will happen after. It's a film where I was able to put together the pieces of the story and figure out where it was headed after a certain point, but the journey was a lot more important than the destination here, serving up a moody, weird tale that felt like something pulled out of both my childhood and my adulthood in equal measure. If you're expecting a simple horror tale with big frights and easy answers, this will probably leave you scratching your head at the end, but if you want a movie with a smart and wrenching plot, compelling characters, and a hell of a sense of style that's quietly chilling without really being in-your-face scary, this is one you probably won't soon forget.
The film starts out in the late '90s in an anonymous middle-class suburb that, while it was never explicitly stated where it's supposed to be, I figured out was New Jersey right away even before the credits rolled and I saw that, sure enough, this was filmed in Verona and Cedar Grove, such was the familiarity of the scenery from my own childhood. Our protagonists Owen and Maddy are a pair of awkward teenagers who slowly bond over their shared fandom of The Pink Opaque, a kids' horror series that airs on the Young Adult Network (a fairly obvious pastiche of Nickelodeon) and is inspired by shows like Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The protagonists of The Pink Opaque, Isabel and Tara, are a pair of teenage girls who developed a psychic connection at summer camp that they use to fight various monsters, as well as an overarching villain named Mr. Melancholy. For Maddy, the show is an escape from her abusive home life, while for Owen, it's a guilty pleasure that he has to watch by way of Maddy taping it every Saturday night at 10:30 and giving him the tape the following week, as not only does it air past his bedtime but his father looks askance at it for being a "girly" show. Things start to get weird once the show is canceled on a cliffhanger at the end of its fifth season -- and shortly after, Maddy mysteriously disappears, leaving only a burning TV set in her backyard.
I can't say anything more about the plot without spoilers other than the broadest strokes. On the surface, a lot of the story that transpires here, that of a creepy kids' show that may be more than it seems, is reminiscent of Candle Cove, only drawing less of its inspiration from '70s local television than from '90s Nickelodeon, Fox Kids, and The WB. But while Candle Cove was a brisk, one-off campfire tale that you can probably read in five to ten minutes (which you should, by the way), this is something with a lot more on its mind. It's a film about a life wasted, one where the real horror is psychological and emotional as Owen realizes that he's trapped in a life he shouldn't be trapped in, and it would not have worked without Justice Smith's performance as the film's central dramatic anchor. From everything I've seen him in, Smith is a guy who specializes in playing awkward nerds like Jesse Eisenberg or Michael Cera, and here, he takes that in a distinctly Lynchian direction as somebody who can't shake the feeling that he's living a lie but is either unable or unwilling to say precisely what it is. After the first act, this becomes a film about a man who's spinning his wheels in life, and not even checking off the boxes expected of a man like him to be considered "successful" seems to solve it. He narrates the film at various points, and as it goes on, it becomes hard not to wonder if even he believes what he's saying. Watching him, I saw traces of myself living in Florida until last year, spinning my own wheels in either school, menial jobs, or just sitting at home doing nothing. He's somebody whose arc struck close to home, and I imagine that, even if one discounts the fairly overt "closeted trans person" metaphors his character is wrapped in, a lot of viewers will probably get bigger chills seeing themselves in him than they will from the sight of Mr. Melancholy. Brigette Lundy-Paine, meanwhile, plays Maddie as either the one person who understands what's going on or somebody who's let her devotion to an old TV show completely consume her and drive her to madness, and while I won't say what direction the film leans in, I will say that it was still a highly compelling performance that forced me to question everything I witnessed on screen.
And beyond just the events of the story, the biggest thing the film had me questioning was nostalgia. In many ways, this is a movie about our relationship with the past, especially the things we loved as children. In many ways, it can be ridiculous the attachment we have to childhood ephemera, holding up old shows, books, movies, and games as masterpieces of storytelling only to go back to them years later and realize that they do not hold up outside of our memories of better times. It fully gets the appeal of wanting to pretend otherwise, but it is also honest about the fact that a lot of stuff we adored as kids was pretty bad. There are several scenes in this movie that show us scenes from The Pink Opaque, and Schoenbrun faithfully recreated the low-budget, 4:3 standard-definition TV look of many of those shows -- warts and all, as Owen realizes later in the film when we see one of the cheesiest things I've ever seen passed off as children's entertainment. There are many ways to read the story here and how it plays out, but one thing at its core that is unmistakable is that nostalgia is a liar.
It doesn't hurt, either, that this is a beautiful film to watch. It may be about how the main reason we're nostalgic for the past is because they were simpler times when we had lower standards, but Schoenbrun still makes the late '90s and '00s look magical, even if it comes paired with a sort of bleakness in the atmosphere that never lets up. The constant feeling of overcast moodiness is not only visually gripping, it serves the film's themes remarkably well, creating the feeling that, even during the protagonists' wondrous childhoods, there's something lurking just out of frame that isn't right and is going to make their lives miserable. The monster design, much of it first seen on The Pink Opaque, was an odd mix of cheesy and genuinely creepy that not only served as a loving homage to the '90s kids'/teen horror shows that this movie was referencing, but still managed to work in the story, especially once shit gets real and those dumb-looking monsters suddenly become the scariest damn things your 12-year-old self ever watched. There aren't a lot of big jump scares here; rather, this is a movie powered by themes and performances, with Maddy's third-act speech in particular suddenly having me take another look at shows like Buffy and Angel that I grew up with in a completely different light. (Damn it, why did Lost have to be so mind-screwy and reality-fiddling that I could suddenly draw all manner of disquieting conclusions about it?)
The Bottom Line
I Saw the TV Glow isn't for everyone, but it's still a highly potent tale of nostalgia and growing up that wears its affection for its inspirations on its sleeve and has a very solid, engaging, and chilling core to it. Whether you're a child of the '90s and '00s, non-heteronormative, or simply in the mood for an offbeat teen horror movie, this is one to check out, and one I'll probably be thinking about for a long time.

Other fandoms I'm in that I don't have sideblogs for include: StarWars, Xbox360 games, Portal, Charlie Murder, Nirvana (and other bands), Sims 4, Fallout 4 (and other Bethesda games), JoJo's bizarre adventure, old marvel movies (not the shows), Spongebob (my first hyperfixation), Rick and Morty, Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, Michael Cera movies/ shows, Matthew Johnson movies (ntbts, the dirties, operation avalanche ect) and many other things (I'll add to the list when I think of more).
I make all kinds of art, I draw, write stories/poems/music, I play bass/guitar/ukulele/keyboard and I sing. You can find my main art account on Instagram (under the same name) and I also cosplay and post speedpaints (and make shitposts) on TikTok (also under the same name).
DNI (this list is gonna be longer than usual): Racists, Homophobes, Transphobes, Ablists, Bigots of any kind, pro ana/ ana blogs (get the fuck off my page istg.), pro MAP (pedos.). You get it.

-okay this isn’t important but i physically cannot whistle like i’ve tried for years and i can’t do it and it’s my greatest shame
fandom: marvel or harry potter please :3
join my nyc event!
in my opinion, you remind me of…
neville longbottom!
girl i’m sorry but the second i hit ‘i’m like michael cera’ i was like ‘damn this is neville’
also being awkward & nerdy is SO neville
i feel like he really only hung out with a few people, like he had his close group of friends and that was it
i can also see neville being super into marvel, esp spiderman
in conclusion, you are neville. neville is you.
