2. Which G3 character (new or rebooted) is your favorite?

omg number one is definitely frankie! them being canonically nonbinary and sapphic is SO important to me as a nonbinary lesbian! they are also just silly and fun !!!<-- i also just relate to them a lot in general. i also really love cleo in this gen i think shes so funny, also twyla is super cute and canonically autistic which is fucking awesome!

5. Is there a line or idea for a line that you'd like to see in a G3 release?

ough this is a hard one!! i'd actually love to see more interactive stuff, like the ghoul's alive dolls or playsets like lagoona's hydration station or astranova's floating doll!!! OR THE CREATE A MONSTER DOLLS!!!!!! especially since this gen is doing more with the doll's body types, having a doll you could customize would be so so cool. even if it was a preexisting character doll that had like color changing hair or you could color on them or something!!

14. You have been given the chance to design the G3 version of one G1-introduced character. Who do you choose?

another hard one!! i would love to see cupid come back honestly!! sorry i just took like an hour to draw this:

i think g3 would be good to explore the fact that she was adopted by cupid and was born a bone elemental, and explore how her powers of love with the bow work!! she'd obviously still have her radio show, maybe it would be like a podcast/ she'd focus in music or something!! and it could be interesting if while shes invested in everyones love life, she could be aromantic or just not interested in something like that for herself!!

this design is kind of all over the place (mostly the clothes!!!) but i tried to mix eah and monster high. i do like the idea that her wings are both bone AND feathered and that u can see her bones through her skin:) and she would def come with a radio and bow and arrow. she'd probably have a box of valentines chocolate too ! i dont know!! but yeah heres a rushed take ^^''

Scream Street x Monster High crossover dream I had:

Ok so basically Clawdeen and Draculaura were in the Scream Street school, and were friends with Luke, Resus and Cleo. They were at school and then were heading home, however Luke's house is surrounded by the Creepy Creeper (s1,e10).

So the whole thing is a mess, the entire town is in danger, yada yada. They go to some town supervisor(? wich I think was the MH banshee teacher, and she's like "oh yeah, lemme notify that problem to get it fixed", but then the creepy creeper gets to her house too and traps her and Resus, while everyone else escapes.

Now I don't remember much after this, but basically to save everyone Draculaura has to kiss a girl (don't question it) she has a crush on. And it's recriprocrate and it was actually really cute omg.

Ok so, in this version of Scream Street, the mayor is not Otto, but some really tall lady (still a normie and still pretty much anti-monster). She has a daugther named Claudia, (wich I guess would be Dixon's replacement, tho she's fully human), who is rarely allowed to leave her house and must not make contact with the "freaks", however she is secretly (not really) in love with Draculaura. Basically Romeo and Juliet.

So, they go to her house, she's in her room on the second floor, looking outside the window and smiles when she sees Draculaura. Luke, Cleo and Clawdeen do something (?) to help her get out of her room and put her on ground level, so they can get together. It's all really fun and cute and akward and drac's like "oh... hehe look's like we gotta... uh... if that's okay with you of course" while claudia's all flustered and happy.

Anyways, while they're having this cute moment Resus and some other neighbours are probably dying, so they kiss and that makes the creepy creeper go away (guess it was homophobic, idk). They help Claudia get back to her room before the mayor discovers she's gone and then I woke up, crying because of how cute it all was.

y2k fashion and 2000 fashion in general is overrated, not that I dislike it but hate how these people on tiktok/twt put down more "modern"/"older" fashion styles in place of this weird idea they have of what fashion in the 2000 looked like...

Since this Is mostly an OBM blog... I understand why people give Thirteen a scene aesthetic but I don't really think she would wear that 🥲 she gives me more 2010 alt "grunge" tumblr fashion... It looks cute of course! and you can HC whatever you want, but I disagree when people put the scene/"emo" tag on her

hi!! i like to cosplay mh characters and i have a question for the black community. i love clawdeen and would love to cosplay her but i’m white and all of the clawdeen cosplayers i’ve seen have been black so i just want to make sure that it’d be okay for me to make a cosplay for her. i wanna say yes since people from all cultures and races cosplay characters from other cultures and races but i just wanna be 1000% sure.

i obviously wouldnt darken my skin or anything cause thats messed up but i might get a wig that looks somewhat similar to clawdeen’s hair since my hair is currently dyed. i wouldnt get a wig that looks like an afro or box braids or anything, i’m just thinking i’d get one that looks similar to my own hair or maybe slightly curlier like my sister’s (my natural hair is brown and wavy/curly (2c maybe 3a) and my sister is a ginger and has tighter curls (maybe 3c?)) and i just wanna make sure that it would be okay :)

i dont know if this will influence anyone’s opinion but i thought i’d include it; i would be doing both g1 and g3 cosplays of clawdeen like i’ve done for lala and frankie

i wanted to make a list with tips for those who have recently discovered monster high and love the dolls and wanna partake in the hobby in starting a collection 🖤

for starters: i wanna say you do not need to watch the show / media attached to it if you don’t want to or don’t have the time. you can still enjoy the dolls cuz at the end of the day, they’re dolls and you can do whatever you want with them :3 they’re for play so create your own lore and enjoy it however you please 🖤 also, if the show wasn’t for you, that doesn’t make you less of a fan. you can still enjoy the dolls and hobby 🖤

also: MONSTER HIGH IS FOR EVERYONE !! it doesn’t matter if you’re male, female, nonbinary, straight or queer, you can partake in this hobby !!

to start, find the dolls / characters that interest you most

whether you want to collect only dolls of one character or multiple of any and every character, it’s up to you to decide :3 it’s okay. there’s no right or wrong way of collecting. narrowing down the dolls you like best helps to get started. you wanna be sure your first doll(s) is special and really speaks to you 🖤

if you like several dolls and are undecided on certain ones, feel free to wait it out and see how you feel about them in a few days, a week, a month or however long you need

sometimes it’s best to wait and contemplate so you don’t end up regretting a purchase. of course if you do, or loved the doll at first but then changed your mind, it’s okay. you can always sell the doll later. you might be holding onto someone’s grail there !!

if you find you like a doll that has been available for a while but can’t decide between that one and a newer doll, go for the older one (this is specifically for G3 since that’s what we currently have widely available)

dolls have a shelf life of about a year. eventually lines start being phased out (currently SS3 is slowly being phased out) and we have no idea how much they’ll go for in the resell market (see SS1 and SS2 draculaura)

if you wanna collect G1 dolls, check out ebay, mercari, facebook marketplace and your local thrift stores. you never know what you may find and sometimes there’s good deals !!

when it comes to G1 dolls, you have to play the long game and have LOTS of patience. many of these dolls go for hundreds and that’s not okay imo. you don’t have to dump these amounts of money on them, especially since bills and other necessities gotta get covered first !! again, patience is key !! eventually you’ll score your grails

speaking of secondhand market, be careful and make sure you read the descriptions and ask questions. don’t be afraid to do so

unfortunately there have been a surge of scammers flooding the MH community. these are easy to spot. they will either use someone else’s photos for the listing, have zero reviews or refuse to answer questions and provide more pictures. sometimes it’s a combination of all. also know they’re not entirely honest about the condition of the dolls. some will not say they’re a smoke friendly home. please ask questions !! also, request them to add a photo with their username written on a paper to add to the listing to further verify they do in fact have the doll

do not purchase from scalpers

i know, kind of contradictory to say check the secondhand market and then say do not buy from scalpers. of course, it’s your money and you can do what you please with it, but if you can, try not to buy from them. it’s the reason they keep bulk buying the entire stock leaving fans without a chance at grabbing a doll they love and why they keep pricing what they price. if people stop buying from them, they’ll have no choice, but to lower their prices cuz no one is buying them and they don’t wanna sit with a stock of dolls they obviously do not want. so if you can help it, try not to buy from them. as stated before, it’s about patience and good deals do show up. also, wait from buying collector dolls on the aftermarket. the hype needs to first die down before they are lowered in price (happened with bride of chucky, creature from the black lagoon and addams family skullectors)

watch out when shopping online from walmart or / and amazon. sometimes other sellers will list a doll (G3) for an inflated price while they’re currently available in major retailers

you do not need every single doll

only buy the dolls you love. i know it can be devastating to love a doll and see everyone hating it, but don’t let that deter you !! with everyone sharing their personal collections and mattel pumping out dolls so frequently, it can be overwhelming and think you must have every doll. that’s simply not true. don’t feel bad for missing out on collector drops you weren’t fully in love with. and if you don’t really love a doll, it’s okay to opt out if you feel it’s the best choice. it’s also okay to purchase and sell later if you truly didn’t like the doll after receiving it

check for sales

i’m not sure about other countries but in the US, retailers will have sales and many dolls end up on sale. amazon does this too. check frequently. you never know when a doll you want may be on sale !!

check the community (get involved if you feel comfy enough to do so)

i encourage to check reddit, instagram, twitter and other forms of social media to keep up with doll news and leaks. it’s also a great place to make friends, ask questions and help each other out when drops happen. if you make good friends with someone, we can also use each other as proxy services if we live in different countries and grab each other certain exclusive dolls we have no access to :3 some dolls / lines don’t make it to certain countries

it’s okay to take breaks

mattel pumps out dolls frequently and the market can be so saturated, it’s overwhelming. it’s completely fine to feel that way and to take breaks when needed🖤

collections are personal and there’s no right or wrong way of doing it. whether you’re an in-box or out-of-box collector, the most important thing is to HAVE FUN !!

I found myself questioning, do kids even like MH gen 3? Because, I mean, the only people loving it that I've seen are "I spend most of my time talking about minorities in kid's cartoons on twitblr" types. Like... do kids actually LOVE it? Do they obsess over the characters? Do they want to look like them? Are they even invested in the world? Who is this for?

Anon, I would agree with you if not for the fact that the editing on the G3 Monster High series is so FUCKING obnoxious that it was clearly made for TikTok preteens in mind.

So while the main ones who are appreciating the ethnicity swaps are people who look at representation first and quality third, there are some kids who do enjoy the show.

Hey ghouls! As MH Rarepair Month creeps closer and closer, here are some rules, guidelines, and everything you need to know for this event!

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, comments, or concerns that may not be addressed under the cut!

What is Monster High Rarepair Month?

This event is dedicated to super rare romantic pairings from all generations of Monster High. The 'spirit' (pun intended) of this event has its roots in crackshipping, any ship that has less than 10 works on AO3 is permitted. (see the fandoms tagged for g1, g2, g3, the g3 movies, and general 'toys' fandom tags to see if your pairing is eligible)

Monster High Rarepair Month will run during the entirety of September, with prompts being delegated on a week-by-week basis.

How do I participate?

Just create something about an ultra-rare pair! Whether it’s fanart, fanfic, edits, headcanons, meta, poetry, analysis, gifs (gifsets if you’re feeling fancy) - anything and everything you can think of is welcome! Following the prompts is encouraged, but if you’re really inspired by something outside of the prompt list or want to combine them in any way, that’s cool too! (PS - if you have a really niche crack pairing you've been waiting to show off, this is your time to shine!)

Please use the tag #mhrarepairmonth in your works as it will be tracked! You can also mention this tumblr, mhrarepairmonth, in your submissions if you want to be extra sure it gets reblogged!

Feel free to add your work to our AO3 collection! It's by no means required, but it's fun to have everything all in one spot.

All submissions will be reblogged to this blog by the end of each week. Late submissions are also permitted, whether it's by a week or even longer! :)

What pairings count?

As mentioned above, ships should not exceed more than 10 works in the above MH AO3 fandom tags. We’re counting counterparts from each generation as separate characters, so if there’s a ship with >10 ships but they’re marked under the Monster High (Toys) fandom tag, take a closer look and see if the pairing from whatever generation you want to create for is eligible! Some exceptions to our >10 fic limit may apply, see this post for more information.

Polyships/OT3s/OT4s+ are allowed, provided they also follow this rule. Get creative - maybe you'll even create an entirely new relationship tag in the process? :)

Since this is a ship-focused event, your work should be focused on a romantic pairing; even if the characters aren't explicitly dating, they should hold a romantic interest in one another. Incestuous pairings and selfshipping will not be included in this event.

Are crossovers allowed?

Unfortunately, crossovers from fandoms outside of Monster High won't be permitted (sorry EAH we love you 💔) Feel free to cross over the various generations of MH characters, though! As long as your pairing follows the rest of the rules, go crazy!

Other Rules

1. Follow general fandom etiquette; The principles of being kind and respectful of others’ works and don’t like, don’t read apply (for the latter, where applicable). Ship/character bashing will not be tolerated, and most importantly: tag your work properly!

2. Works that have been plagiarized or generated using generative AI will be excluded from this event.

3. NSFW works will be allowed - non-con/dub-con and adult/child relationships will not be permitted. Please be sure you follow Tumblr’s guidelines regarding explicit content. Worst case scenario, you can post your submission elsewhere and just link it here so it can be shared :)

4. Whitewashing, racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, sexism and any other forms of bigotry will not be tolerated. However, works that explore these themes (i.e, internalized homophobia) will be accepted, provided they are tagged with the appropriate warnings.

5. Have fun! Rarepair month is supposed be a fun and silly event to explore or create really rare pairings.

Words can't really describe how disappointed and equally angry and disgusted I am by this collab. Not only did this collab come out of nowhere and literally NO ONE asked for it to happen but it's just a glaring reminder that Mattel is now viewing G1 Monster High  through a cash cow lense and is milking money out of exclusively G1 fans because they know the G1 generation are all grown up and have adult money to spend so why not churn out G1 dolls with a bigger price tag more each time? and so they give us this mediocre soulless collab that does not capture the spirit of Monster High in anyway. Meanwhile the MH fans that were willing to shell out $5 dollars for the oh so special Fang Club that was supposed to have exclusive dolls and was good for the whole year? well the year is almost over and we only got ONE doll just one and the year is almost over nevermind that the membership didn't help anyone get ahead on other Mattel Creations MH drops despite them promising members get first access to things not yet made available to the public.

Now onto the collaboration dolls themselves this collab features four brand new characters which I think could have been executed so much better and this was not the line to launch them in. For one the dolls to me all look like some odd variation of Frankie at first glance because of them all having the same green skin tone but then when you look at them closely they all look like reused molds of Lagoona, Frankie, Rochelle, and Bloodgood but now they're green. I think if these are a new set of ghoulebrities going to be implemented in MH they should have introduced them in G3 but I'm pretty sure these are just throw away characters made for the collab which begs the question why didn't they use already established characters with an interest in fashion?! I don't think a brand like MH should be making cash grab collabs with fashion brands but if they did I think they should have chosen different characters that represent the MH brand.

This fashion collab NEEDED Clawdeen Wolf considering she is the aspiring fashion designer ffs this would have meant everything to her character to represent MH and if they had to have a "new" show stopping character to hype this collab this was their chance to debut a Moanatella Ghostier doll aka the unrivaled fashion designer of Scaris and for the other two dolls I would probably pick Garrot du Roque (yes a boy doll) and Rochelle Goyle. I'm mostly just so so angry because this collab just spells doom to me for the future of G1 MH's dolls or content because it's clear Mattel only cares about money and milking fans with nostalgia bait and half assed projects with the Monster High label slapped on them and not about making creations under the MH name that are actually made with passion and that fans will love.

I'm curious: do you like thrifting older dolls?

Oh this is such a fun question! Thank you for dropping into my little ask box🥰

The non answer is yes and no. I've never been one to do the "traditional" route of thrifting, online shopping is my passion... but buying dolls secondhand yes absolutely(just depends how much a stickler you define thrifting😅)

The more indepth answer that I will build from is: it definitely depends on the character.

Tbh the whole buckets/bins hauls that I see people having probably wouldn't appeal to me. But a more calculated focus of looking for specific dolls and lines(usually being sold online) is my route. There are definitely g1 frankie and cleo dolls and some toralei and ghoulia and a few other dolls that I am keeping my eyes out for.

Characters like venus and nefera who I wholeheartedly prefer and connect more with their g3 versions there is probably not a g1 doll of them that I would care enough about to have taking up space on my shelves. Just like g1 drac just doesn't appeal to me because I adore g3 drac and her design so much.

Just hoping to see g3 continue to expand on characters and maybe give drac a break(doubtful)

I must water my special interest in a certain way so to speak lol.

I do want to get into customizing and making ooak dolls so we'll see where that brings me.

I never had MH dolls growing up but core g3 Frankie was the first doll I bought going into doll collecting as an adult. I just love the doll designs and they are so funny in the show
