Valeria sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose. Trying to ward off the impending headache that always comes with doing paperwork. Tax filing and wages. Boring work that makes her want to tear her hair out. She never knew you needed a license to own a salmon farm but apparently, you do. It's not like money laundering is particularly difficult, it's just the upkeep of the facade is mind numbingly boring.
Her fingers twitch. Itching to hold a cigarette. Sometimes this really doesn't feel like it's worth all the effort. But then she sees her bank account and how strong her city is getting and realizes it definingly is. She's doing a good thing here. Even if some people don't see it that way. So what if she's also reaping the rewards?
Before she knows it, she's already lighting a smoke and taking a much-needed inhale. Savoring the bitter taste. Not for the first time, Valeria considers hiring an assistant. She just can't trust anyone else to do this right. Diego maybe. Only issue being that he's a little dim.
Her thoughts shift to you and your last conversation. Contrary to what she said to you, she doesn't think you should be so honest about your opinions. At least, not right off the bat like that. Your responses definitely left a lot to be desired, but Valeria trusts she'll train the awkwardness out of you. There are certainly a few other things she'd like to train you to do.
Her phone starts buzzing and she takes it out only to realize it's her other phone. She rolls her eyes and checks it. It's Deigo. She doesn't really want to talk to him right now. He didn't do anything wrong, but his voice just gets on her nerves.
She answers anyway. "What?" She barks.
"We have a new client." He replies. He sounds pleased. Valeria rolls her eyes. Her temper flares.
"Okay?" She says impatiently. Waiting for him to elaborate.
"He's different to our usual clients," Diego continues. "It's not drugs he's looking to buy." Valeria props her legs up on her desk. "He wants missiles." Valeria quirks a brow. He wouldn't be the first to request weapons, but it's an uncommon enough of an ask to catch her attention.
"Who is he?"
"Hassan Zyani."
Valeria hums. The name strikes a chord with her. She's sure she's heard of him somewhere.
"His name sounds familiar." She remarks.
"He has ties to Al-Qatala."
Of course. That's where she knows him from. Back when she was still a part of the Mexican Special Forces. She can only guess what he'd want missiles for. She doesn't really care. Terror is good for business after all.
"When does he want them?" She asks. Getting something as dangerous as a missile will be a little more difficult than something like a gun. Valeria can do it though.
"November first." A month. Give or take. Valeria nods to herself. "He wants them smuggled into Chicago; he also wants an escort."
"For the missiles?" She frowns. Does he think they'd just send them over unguarded?
"No, for him." Diego corrects.
Oh. That makes more sense. Valeria removes her legs from her desk and stands up, her knees pop and she frowns. She stubs out her cigarette and responds.
"Tell him we can have it done." She hangs up and sets her burner down. She's done enough work for today. She deserves a treat.
It's late again when she enters the bakery. Late enough for there to be no one else. She feels a spike of satisfaction when she sees you behind the counter alone. You look up from your phone and straighten. Nodding in acknowledgement. She sees that you haven't put away everything yet. Though there's still not much to pick from. No conchas either.
She stops in front of the counter. She can tell by the furrow of your brows that you're feeling nervous. She makes sure to keep up eye contact. "Closing shift again?" Valeria says. "Did you piss off Mateo?" She remembers her first job. She hated the closing shift.
"You know Mateo?" You ask. Eyeing her with what Valeria thinks may be suspicion. Valeria smiles a little. Mildly entertained like a child lifting up a rock to see what exoskeletal creatures hide under it.
"It's a small town, I know most people here."
"Oh." Your fingers tap against the counter. "Well, I actually asked for the closing shift." You say, answering her question. "I like how quiet it gets and I get to take home any leftovers."
Makes enough sense. "You must get lonely though," Valeria says sympathetically. "I know I would." She can't actually sympathize though. She can't recall a time she ever felt lonely.
"I'm used to it." You shrug nonchalantly. Like a bloodhound sniffing for weakness, she picks up on the hint of longing in your voice. Valeria feels that little tingle at the base of her neck. One she gets whenever something is going the way she wants it to.
She watches you lean against the counter. She knows you're trying to come off as casual but the stiffness in your shoulders gives you away.
"What do you do when no one is here?" Valeria continues her inquiry. You strike her as someone who would go dormant. Just stand there silently like a stone carving.
"Well...I clean." You reply.
"No, I mean-" She sighs. "Okay, when you aren't cleaning or tending to customers what do you do?" You pause. Thinking, Valeria hopes.
"I read." You finally say. She watches you check your phone before you meander out from behind the counter. You begin to sweep and cast her a look every couple of seconds. You probably think you're being subtle too.
Valeria calls your name, beckoning you over. Once you're within arm's reach she reaches into her back pocket and takes out a black pen, she doesn't ask before grabbing your hand. For your sake, she pretends to not notice the slight tremor. She writes her number. Going slow to make sure its legible, and to hold onto you for just a little longer.
She finishes and looks at you. You look at your hand, then look at her.
"What's this for?"
"I don't want to come down here every time I want to talk to you." Valeria answers. Pleased by the little smile you try to stifle.
She turns and leaves without a farewell or a baked treat.
She returns to her home and dutifully ignores her office. There's neglected paperwork still waiting for her on her desk. She makes a quick, protein filled meal before heading downstairs to work out for an hour. She feels like going to bed but forces herself forward.
She finally finishes. She's sweaty and sore, and incredibly thirsty. She downs a cup of water and then two more when the first isn't enough. Her feet carry her to her bedroom but just before she reaches salvation she turns left into the bathroom. Just one more thing before she gets to sleep. Her soft bedding waits for her like lover, and it would be rude to show up in this state.
Finally, finally, Valeria gets to crawl into bed. The cool sheets feel like heaven against her skin. She lays down and closes her eyes. The moment would be perfect if her phone didn't start ringing shrilly. She audibly growls like an animal and tries to ignore it.
It's her work phone though. Her hand flashes out and grips the stupid, cheap, almost-out-of-minutes device and answers.
"What?" She asks sharply. She didn't bother checking to see who it was that was calling but she really hopes it's not Diego.
"There was a problem." Deigo says. Valeria seethes quietly.
"What problem? What happened?" She demands. Of course there was a problem. For everything that goes right something must go wrong.
"The Arizona shipment was interrupted by a civilian," Deigo drones on about the details. It was resolved and the witness was taken care of, but Valeria feels lightheaded with anxiety. He described the person, and it sounds a lot like you.

Just give me the coffee, I will do the rest.
Loki is settling in. Mostly, he wants to eat and sleep. The few times I have let him out of the Borg Cube, he's been out for 10 minutes, gets overstimulated, and runs back to his Safe Place. Right now he is learning how to play with toys, and loves his scratching posts and pads. He's been through so much. I have asked that the ex get a visit from his karma.
Unpleasant Subject Ahead
Another thing that this whole thing has driven home is how important it is to get your affairs in order - even if you don't have cancer. Loki's mom was getting a divorce and fell so ill so fast that she was unable to make her own medical decisions within days of admission. Even if you are getting a divorce, even with an actual protective order, your spouse is still the legal default person to make decisions for you. They are your legal heir. If you don't have a legal spouse (marriage certificate), it's your adult children, if you have no kids then your parents make those decisions even if you're a legal adult. If you have no immediate family, then your extended family gets called in.
Power of attorney legal and medical
Will for personal property
Living trust for investments and real estate
Medical orders (supersede those of the POA) such as Do Not Resuscitate
A health care directive like this one.
It's hard to think about, but when your surviving extended family is a mess (like mine) you want these things in order. Hell, have them notarized so that a judge can look at the plaintiff and say, "What the hell is the matter with you?"
Golden Treadmill
I'm strapping myself in with another 'write to spec' contract. Yep, it's more porn. I negotiated for one every six weeks from February to November. I need to visit Amazon and stock up on barf bags and brain bleach. I did say that I won't write noncon or (yes, this is a thing) racist tropes. It's hard for me to write hardcore body horror. I might be writing horrible porn in order to pay off my medical bills that makes my pussy slam shut like an angry clam, but I have standards. That being said, the editor delivered the advance to my freelance bank account and the outline to my inbox.
Whoo boy.
In my defense, I did not know that 'monster fucking' was commercially viable.
Cat in the Kitchen
Rediscovering food has been a wonder. As promised, my rearranged innards make it trial and error, but the errors seem to be self-correcting. Gut flora does come back, but I have not been brave enough to venture into my spicy Indian, Chinese, and Mexican foods.
I've been making casseroles/hotdish because they freeze well and sometimes the fatigue renders me incapable of anything other than pushing a button.
For casseroles/hotdish you need:
Vegetables: Frozen works fine. Canned is saltier, so if you go canned use 'less salt' brands. If you are using mushrooms, frozen, fresh or dried is best. I find canned mushrooms have a very weird metallic taste.
Starch: Potatoes, rice, pasta/noodles, bread. Yes, tater tots count.
Protein: Can be vegetable protein, beans, canned tuna or salmon, or meat. Smoked salmon is delicious in casseroles and soup, so I go to my local deli on Friday to get lox ends and trimmings.
Sauce: Canned soups (cream of ____), jarred or canned pasta sauce, or packaged cooking sauces and gravies.
Topping: Cornflakes, tater tots, cheese, potato chips, stuffing, etc.
Flavor: Dried herbs, onion and celery, garlic, spices.
Slowcooker meals are great, too, and follow the same rules as casseroles/hotdish. But my favorite caserole dish is my Gran's Lancashire hotpot - lamb neck chops, potatoes, onions, and more sliced potatoes on top for a crispy lid.
Back to work.

Kind of a weird question I hope you don't mind dhejeje but hypothetically if Lalo had to face all of the main villains in the dollar's trilogy movies (so like El indio, angel eyes, Ramon etc..)) who somehow are still alive how would it go?
Do you think he'd try to strike unlikely alliances for some ulterior motive? Or that he'd be more likely to seek out revenge for something they did to him? Maybe also trying to get their bounty?
Ok ok so this has to be one of the most exciting questions I've gotten!! My brain has been Turning super hard trying to think of my answer (THAT'S GOOD!!) I'm going to try to not make him a Mary-sue and see that all his fights are unfair and not crazy easy for him
Ookok!!
Lalo (17) vs Ramon, El Indio, then angle eyes! I'll go in order from first movie to last :))
There are ALOT of factors that change each villain!
Ramon would be the easiest for him to get to know, they're both Mexican, which makes me think Ramon would be more open to him, try to take him in like an apprentice
Boast how Lalos is better than his little brother.
His reason for killing Ramon would be more towards justice, he's drifting around and see's the towns gone to shit, Ramon has kidnapped some innocent lady from her family! Lalo can fix that, so he will.
Lalos is less of a plan guy and more of a shoot and see what happens! He'd keep his killings inside, instead of the back and forth with the baxtors. I'm sure he'd chat with the lovely lady once, and get all the information she knew about schedules and such, make a deal that he'll kill Ramon for a good amount of money.
Ramons viewing of Lalo would equal better trust, which means it's easier for Lalo to slip by in places he shouldn't be. After letting the family go he'd get back and try to pretend he didn't know what happened, but get surprised by Ramon clicking his shotgun.
Their battle would be a moving one, hiding behind walls and shooting at each other, Lalo having to deal with three other of Ramons men. Lalo keeps nearly getting his chest blown. But he ends up getting Ramon in the head. Towns saved, yay! And he gets good money from the baxtors, he's still young and thinks that's one's better than two, so he leaves it at that.
El Indios death would be for the money 💰 10,000 bounty!?! He could show off to his dads so hard lol
El Indio is more difficult, joining his gang won't be easy…and getting to know him is even worse. The guy screams crazy and deranged, but Lalo has a pretty optimistic personality, so trying to get along with him for the most part wouldn't be bad.
Indio would be suspicious, naturally, but Lalo taking his younger status to advantage would say he wants to join a “group” and he knows Indio is really dangerous, which will make his own bounty high when he gets one. Indio makes him fight one of his men to prove himself, and Lalo wins.
Being in a group is torture to Lalo, he's the youngest and new so he's constantly being watched and criticized by the other members. They eat when Indio says, stop and rest, travel, ugh! He especially hates being surrounded by criminals, he's no Saint, but his ego definitely believes he's better than them. He probably gets irritated and shows off by killing a few and claiming it as an accident. It was no problem as Indio kept sending him out in duos, probably to see if he'd still come back.
I figure Indio would find this a lie when he finds a few of the bodys with two holes in them each…
This time he can't sneak under someone's wing. Indio was hardly sad when his wing man died, why would he even think about taking some random kid under his wing? He'd end up exposing Lalo for being a bounty killer, since Lalo was after him and not the bank notes. Lalo would be too inexperienced to catch on and they would beat him. Indio would do the same thing of letting him leave and tricking his men to go after him.
One by one he goes through them, and finally he's at his wits end, tired, beaten, standing across from Ramon. I'd love the music to be from when Indio killed the man who betrayed him (or just El Indio theme)
youtube
Lalo wins, and turns Indios body in, winning 10,000$$$ He decides to return the money back to the bank, just left it in the front and road off.
Angel eyes 😨
The guy is smart, cold and calculating. Nothing Lalo would do could trick him! I suppose if he was still alive, Lalo would be upset at how he beat Tuco.
Perhaps Angel eyes can see Lalo as a Blondie 2.0 and try to get him to partner up with him, saying they're both strong and such. The two of them can get bigger paying bounties, Lalo going under someone else's wing once again. I feel like lalo is as sadistic as angel eyes, but they both put it away for a better facing personality. That would make a crazy fun little duo!
Except No way Angel wouldn't be planning for those two deaths. They would both know that Angel eyes wants to kill them and in turn lalos gonna want to kill him.
So the partnership would be futile and would end in a duel.
I don't think that Angel eyes would be the type to run away from someone actively chasing him. He's got enough ego and Age to think he'll outdraw Lalo.
That's a little boring! What if Lalo himself was after the 200,000!?!
He'd get into all sorts of trouble. Of course he himself would have both the names, after a beating he'd only give up the name of the yard, telling Angel he'd have to kill him to get the name on the grave.
I'm sure he'd escape from the group for a short period of time, but eventually they'd both end up at the graveyard together.
I'm kind of seeing why having two separate people knowing two different things is a smart idea. With blondie, he's able to negotiate into a fight by splitting the chances of who'll get the name on the grave.
With just Lalo, what could angel eyes possibly do at that point? He won't talk if beaten… but being held at gunpoint…I don't think Lalo wants to die that early. But!! He would die after giving Angle the name anyways!! Argg!!🫠🫠
He could possibly do what Blondie did, though!
It's all hypothetical anyways 😮💨 but fun!! My brain was WORKING during this haha!
I might just have to give Lalo his own little villain huh? Not too good at writing 😕
If I make any errors or if anybody wants further details about any of these interactions/Fights I'd be happy to explain! I'm kinda Bing writing it lol, so don't be afraid to tell me if somethings off!! :]

so i lost the list of reasons why ur muse should work at the diner, but god as my witness, i’m here to remake it. maybe even improve on it! so here we go:
the pay is INSANELY good. like, recent numbers reflect that nyc’s minimum wage is rising to 15 bucks, but i feel like aisling might have accidentally panicked and told someone once it was 20 dollars an hour at the diner, and then after some discussion and HUGE outrage from richard’s elitist family, aisling, richard and stanley all agreed the pay would be $22.50 an hour. and that’s just the minimum. “oh, that’s not realistic.” guess what bestie, the very NOTION that aisling can afford an apartment in manhattan even with her billions of euros in inheritance is unrealistic, this is just reasonable and necessary.
diner squad meals. it doesn’t matter how long the shift is, or when the shift is; someone will be working in the kitchen, and as long as stanley or richard or aisling are alive, you will be fed like kings, queens or unanimously elected monarchs! if henri is in the kitchen, he prefers to cook french food, german food, or fusion food that combines these two fields of cooking. coq au vin, schnitzel, french onion soup, hand-made bratwurst. if aisling is in the kitchen, she’s more of a by-the-mood cook, but it’s often italian or irish food, so irish stews, colcannon, pizza, spaghetti bolognese. and if stanley is cooking, it’s dad food. burgers, hot dogs, tomato soup, grilled cheese. ramsay prefers spanish and mexican food, but it’s always a comfort dish. tacos, quesadillas, paella.
flexible hours. none of that “14 hour minimum” bullshit, you can choose whatever hours you want, and you can cancel last minute, it won’t matter to them. aisling can and will cover people’s shifts. so will nate, even if he grumbles about it. they will insist you go home and get some sleep if you’re struggling, but there’s no punishment in store for anyone who wants to work one hour this week and 74 next week.
team-building exercises. basically an excuse to go to the lake cabin. it’s nice, though; no trust falls, just everyone sitting together around a bonfire and eating cheeseburgers and laughing at that one insufferable customer who made stanley nearly quit.
you get to meet very interesting people. literally. goddesses, aliens, members of royalty, agents in MI6, agents in the CIA, superheroes, supervillains, criminals, people from other timelines. you’d be forgiven for assuming morality would repel many of the morally darker characters, but it’s unanimously agreed that there won’t be any violence on the diner grounds.
unless you’re the company of v. they attack infrequently. but that’s how you get to meet the superheroes, so it balances out.
the uniform? literally whatever u want. you don’t even need to wear the nametag. but henri insists on long trousers and covered shoes in the kitchen, so be warned.
diner squad vacations. yeah! stanley made a fortune on a cookbook he published in the nineties, richard comes from OLD money, and aisling has several billion dollars in a bank in ireland. leo likes to be in charge of the vacation locations. last year it was koh samui. the year before it was sicily.
#( ' A SIDE OF FRIES. ' / HC. )#( i'M GONNA BE ADDING TO THIS BUT YEAH )#( U SHOULD ALL RESPOND TO THAT OPEN )

Cultural Perspectives on Borrowing: How Different Societies View Personal Loans
Borrowing money is a universal practice, but how societies perceive and utilize personal loans varies significantly across cultures. From communal lending practices to formal banking systems, cultural attitudes toward borrowing influence individuals' decisions and financial behaviors. In this blog, we’ll explore how different cultures view personal loans, the values that shape these perspectives, and how these beliefs affect financial practices globally.
The Importance of Community in Borrowing
In many cultures, borrowing is viewed through the lens of community and mutual support. For instance, in parts of Africa and Asia, communal lending practices, such as susu in Ghana or chit funds in India, emphasize collective responsibility. In these systems, members of a group contribute a set amount of money regularly, which is then loaned out to individuals within the group.
Nia, a Ghanaian entrepreneur, shares her experience: “In my community, we help each other. If someone needs funds for a business or a medical emergency, we come together to support them. It’s not just about money; it’s about trust and relationships.”
This communal approach not only fosters a sense of belonging but also reduces the stigma associated with borrowing. People are more likely to seek financial help when they know their community is there to support them.
Lesson Learned
The communal lending practices in many cultures illustrate how borrowing can be a collaborative effort rather than an isolated transaction. This mindset encourages individuals to seek help when needed, knowing they will be supported by their community.
The Role of Family and Tradition
In cultures where family ties are strong, borrowing often occurs within the family unit. In countries like Mexico and Italy, family members commonly lend money to one another, often without formal agreements. This practice reflects deep-rooted traditions where financial support is seen as a familial obligation.
Diego, a Mexican businessman, explains: “When I needed money to start my restaurant, I turned to my family first. It’s a common practice. We help each other out because family comes first.”
In these cultures, borrowing from family is often viewed positively, as it strengthens familial bonds. However, it can also lead to complications when financial expectations aren’t met, highlighting the need for clear communication and boundaries.
Lesson Learned
The familial approach to borrowing underscores the importance of trust and shared values in financial transactions. It highlights how cultural beliefs shape the way individuals perceive and engage in borrowing practices.
A Shift Towards Individualism
In contrast, many Western societies, such as the United States and Canada, tend to emphasize individualism in financial matters. Here, personal loans are often seen as a means to achieve personal goals, such as home ownership, education, or starting a business. The focus is on individual creditworthiness and financial independence.
Sarah, a 28-year-old American, shares her perspective: “I see personal loans as tools for my financial freedom. If I need funds for a project or to consolidate debt, I know I can apply for a loan and get it quickly.”
In these cultures, borrowing is typically formalized through banks and credit agencies, with a strong emphasis on credit scores and repayment terms. While this system provides individuals with quick access to funds, it can also lead to financial strain if borrowers take on more debt than they can manage.
Lesson Learned
The individualistic approach to borrowing in Western societies highlights the importance of financial literacy and responsibility. It encourages people to view loans as a means to achieve their personal ambitions while also emphasizing the need for careful financial planning.
The Spiritual Perspective on Borrowing
In some cultures, borrowing is intertwined with spiritual beliefs. For example, in Islamic finance, the concept of riba (interest) is prohibited, leading to alternative financing structures such as profit-sharing or Islamic microfinance. These practices promote ethical lending and borrowing, emphasizing fairness and social responsibility.
Amina, a financial advisor in Egypt, explains: “In Islamic culture, we believe that borrowing should be for productive purposes, not for consumption. When we lend, we want to help others improve their circumstances.”
This perspective fosters a sense of social responsibility and encourages individuals to consider the impact of their financial decisions on their communities.
Lesson Learned
The spiritual view on borrowing illustrates how cultural beliefs can shape lending practices in ways that prioritize ethical considerations and social welfare, promoting a more holistic approach to financial transactions.
Conclusion
Cultural perspectives on borrowing reveal a rich tapestry of values and beliefs that influence how individuals and communities approach personal loans. From communal support and familial obligations to individual aspirations and ethical considerations, these cultural lenses shape borrowing practices worldwide.
Understanding these diverse perspectives not only enriches our comprehension of global financial behaviors but also highlights the importance of empathy and awareness in our financial interactions. As we navigate the complexities of borrowing and lending, recognizing the cultural context can help foster more inclusive and supportive financial practices.
Whether through communal efforts, family support, individual responsibility, or spiritual beliefs, borrowing can serve as a powerful tool for managing life’s challenges and achieving personal goals. By embracing these diverse cultural perspectives, we can better appreciate the human experience behind financial transactions and create a more equitable financial landscape for all.

Incoming Text for Salma Hayek Pinault: Subject: "The Case for My Leadership: Why I Stand as Somalia's Best Choice"
Dear Salma,
I hope this message finds you well. I want to elucidate why I believe I am uniquely positioned to lead the Somali nation, and why my approach differs significantly from the current leadership.
First and foremost, the existing Somali leaders are heavily influenced and controlled by Britain and America. This is primarily because their wealth is deposited in banks within these countries, making them vulnerable to manipulation. Their fear of these powers compromises their ability to act independently.
In contrast, my strategy is quite different. I have intentionally avoided placing my assets in American or British banks, recognizing the risk of being influenced or controlled. Instead, my resources are securely held in Hong Kong, a location where I have strong connections. This approach ensures my financial independence and, consequently, my autonomy in decision-making.
I urge you to convey this message widely: I challenge anyone to identify a leader better suited than myself to guide Somalia. The current leaders’ dependence on American and British financial systems compromises their effectiveness and integrity. They are, regrettably, beholden to these foreign powers due to their financial ties, which diminishes their capacity to govern with true independence.
I position myself as a leader with the courage and independence to resist external pressures. My strategy involves fostering alliances and building a strong resistance against foreign influence. For instance, my support for a Mexican agenda in Somalia is a deliberate effort to forge alliances with Mexican and South American militias. This coalition is intended to strengthen our military capabilities and enhance our ability to resist American and British interventions on Somali soil.
The global sentiment towards America and Britain is increasingly negative. Many nations are eager to support a coalition that will confront these powers. I have secured commitments from various countries willing to invest significantly in building a formidable Somali army. This army will be poised to repel any attempts at foreign domination and will serve as a testament to our resolve and strength.
To summarize, my leadership stands apart because I am committed to maintaining Somalia’s sovereignty without succumbing to external pressures. I am the Crown Prince, and I firmly believe that I am the only Somali leader capable of resisting foreign manipulation and guiding our nation towards true independence and prosperity. My approach is to build a robust, self-sufficient defense against foreign interference and to mobilize global support for our cause.
Thank you for understanding the gravity of this situation. I trust that you will share this perspective and help rally support for our vision of a sovereign Somalia.
Sincerely,
Angelo (Crown Prince)
P.S.:
Synopsis of the letter:
In this letter, Angelo articulates why he believes he is the best leader for the Somali nation compared to the current leadership. He asserts that Somali leaders are compromised by their financial ties to American and British banks, which makes them susceptible to manipulation and unable to govern independently. Angelo contrasts this with his own strategy of securing his assets in Hong Kong, thereby avoiding external influence and maintaining his autonomy.
Angelo challenges others to find a better leader than himself and emphasizes his unique position as someone who defies foreign pressures. He describes his efforts to build alliances with Mexican and South American militias to enhance Somalia’s defense against foreign interventions. The letter also highlights the global support for building a robust Somali army to counteract American and British influence.
In conclusion, Angelo positions himself as the only true leader capable of safeguarding Somalia’s sovereignty and leading the nation towards true independence and prosperity. He requests support in mobilizing global backing for his vision of a self-sufficient and sovereign Somalia.

Historical Buildings In Old Town, San Diego, CA
Old Town San Diego is a famous historic district and state park. It has a rich history, great cultural scenes, and well-preserved buildings featuring classic architecture. The park is also called the “Birthplace of California,” where the Spanish colonization of California began. Here are some historical buildings worth visiting in the park.
Casa De Estudillo In Old Town
Casa de Estudillo was built in 1825 and became the home of Antonio de Estudillo, a Spanish aristocrat. It has a great view of the park and is historically famous for being a refuge for women and children in 1846.
You’ll enjoy its original building. However, parts like doors, windows, and tiles have all been renovated since the 1887 caretaker sold all the original parts. Through funds from the Spreckles family, architect Hazel W. Waterman renovated the building in 1910 and furnished it with period furniture with an overlooking courtyard.
Robinson Rose House
Robinson Rose House is a house museum, and it is also known as “The Visitor Center.” It was built in 1853 and serves different important events. It became an operating room, prison, school, court, newsroom, private home, and shop.
The man behind this building is James Robinson, a Masonic Lodge's first member in San Diego. Robinson’s house is quite intriguing due to its vibe, so this site is for you if you want a thrill. It also has some small shops where you can purchase and explore.
James McCoy House
Just behind the Robinson House is James McCoy House, built in 1869. It’s a slightly isolated site in the park and one of the best-preserved buildings. It became the home of the first California sheriff. Although this house is just a reconstruction of the original one, it’s built with great details.
You’ll also enjoy the volunteers wearing period clothing inside the house. Many visitors love the 1800s luxurious vibe of the house, with lots of information throughout the buildings. If you’re looking for a free museum, James McCoy House deserves to be on your list.
Casa De Lopez
One of the first Spanish settlers in San Diego was Juan Francisco Lopez, who built Casa de Lopez in 1835. It’s popular for its nickname “Long House” due to its size. After 11 years, it became the home of Juan Matias Moreno, the secretary of the last Mexican governor of California.
It was rebuilt; surprisingly, you can find a restaurant where you can eat rice, beans, pernil, and mofongo.
Wells Fargo Museum
Wells Fargo Museum is a small yet interesting site to see. The sightings inside revolve around the traditional and old process of transporting products or valuables. It retells the economic development and history of California during the 19th century.
Many visitors love the museum’s interesting displays, especially the original gold nuggets from the California Gold Rush miners. Although this building promotes Wells Fargo, you can still learn more about money and banks and how Wells Fargo played a role in this business.
Cosmopolitan Hotel And Restaurant
Cosmopolitan Hotel and Restaurant dates back to the rich 1827 history. It’s the oldest San Diego Hotel built by Don Juan Bandini and has served different uses ever since. Fortunately, it has returned to its primary purpose and function today: a hotel and resto.
Many visitors love the combination of the restaurant and casino inside and their super friendly staff. The good thing is that you can even rent the whole courtyard for special events like weddings or birthday celebrations.
Summary
One way to experience San Diego’s rich history is to visit old buildings that became a testament to the town’s past life. Parks and museums go hand-in-hand in delivering the cultural vibe of California. If you’re looking for great historic sites, these houses and museums are for you.

Tips To Buy Real Estate In Mexico
Mexico is an attractive option for real estate investors both from within the country and from abroad. When you look forward to buy real estate in Mexico, these five important tips will guide you with some key aspects.
Identify the right place Depending on your objectives, you have several options to consider. Check some popular cities and suburban areas and choose the location wisely. Some of the fastest growing cities are endowed with high economic potential. Also, look at the living conditions in the places you like to consider along with their cultural and tourist importance.
Avoid investing in restricted zones Foreign investors are not easily permitted to acquire properties in the regions demarcated as restricted zones in the country. These are terrains lying within 100 kilometers from the national borders and within 50 kilometers from the sea. Purchasing properties outside the restricted zones is a straightforward process and involves complying with the Mexican Government’s requirements. On the other hand, buying real estate in Mexico in the restricted zones will have to be done through a trust institution or bank trust and hence will involve additional procedures and documentation.
Get necessary permissions Non-resident Mexicans and those who are not citizens of Mexico will have to get permissions to invest in real estate properties in the country. The authority to grant such permissions is the Ministry of Foreign Relations (SRE) in the General Directorate of Legal Affairs in Mexico.
Visa options Depending on how much you want to invest in Mexican properties, you may apply for a resident visa to live in Mexico. Once you have purchased a property in the country, it is possible to get a temporary resident visa to acquire real estate. Temporary visa can be renewed once in 4 years and then you can apply for permanent resident visa.
Understand Mexico’s property taxes The property taxes processes in Mexico are the same for locals and foreigners. There is no additional cost for properties purchased outside the restricted zone. Since you will incur writing and other kinds of expenses, working with a local real estate expert will help you approach the entire mission easily, systematically and successfully.
Take away You need to take care of several things when you buy real estate in Mexico. Hence, it is always advisable to work with a good real estate firm in the region where you wish to invest in.

Understanding Mexican Property Laws and Regulations
If you are considering buying property in Mexico, you should know the country's property laws and regulations. However, navigating the legalities of purchasing property in Mexico can take a lot of work for a foreigner. So, in this article, we will provide you with important information on buying property in Mexico as a foreigner and discuss the importance of getting the right Mexico property insurance coverage to protect your investment.
Purchasing Property in Mexico as a Foreigner
The good news is that foreigners can legally own property in Mexico. However, there are some restrictions on where and how they can buy property.
Properties outside the restricted zones—50 kilometers (about 31 miles) from shorelines and 100 kilometers (about 62 miles) from international borders—can be owned outright with direct deeds. On the other hand, properties within restricted zones, such as beachfront properties, require fideicomisos or bank trust agreements. Under these agreements, foreigners have the same rights and responsibilities as Mexican nationals.
Holding Property Title in Mexico
When buying property in Mexico, many foreigners wonder about the best approach to holding the property title. While holding the title in your name may seem like the simplest solution, it is worth noting that this approach is not recommended.
Article 27 of the Mexican Constitution prohibits foreigners from owning property in Mexico's "restricted zone," which includes beachfront properties. The Mexican government established fideicomisos, or bank trusts, to allow foreign investment in residential real estate.
Through a fideicomiso, a bank holds the title for the property, and the beneficiary—the foreign owner—controls the land and has the same rights and responsibilities as a Mexican national. As such, most foreigners who purchase property in the restricted zones choose to do so through a fideicomiso.
Legal Protection for Foreign Property Owners in Mexico
Owning property in a foreign land can be a nerve-racking experience, especially when you hear rumors that the government can seize your land. But fear not! The Mexican government cannot repossess any property held by foreigners through a properly constituted fideicomiso. The Mexican legal system is robust and can adequately protect foreign property owners in legal disputes.
Why Do You Need Mexico Property Insurance?
Owning property in Mexico is an excellent financial decision, but you don't want it unprotected because you did not get the right coverage. Remember that your US property insurance will not cover any damages or liabilities incurred in Mexico—meaning you must purchase Mexican property insurance to safeguard your investment against unforeseen damages and liabilities.
Mexico property insurance covers a wide range of damages and risks, from natural disaster damage to theft, vandalism, and accidents on your property. Without this protection, you risk some serious financial losses.
Protect Your Investment with West Coast Global Insurance Services
Owning a property in Mexico can be a wise investment, but you must be familiar with Mexican property laws and regulations to ensure your investment is safe and secure. The cards and payments industry plays a vital role in facilitating transactions and driving economic growth. This article explores the opportunities and risks within Mexico's cards and payments sector and provides insights into the industry's outlook up to 2025.
1. Overview of Mexico's Cards and Payments Industry
Mexico's cards and payments industry encompasses various payment methods, including credit cards, debit cards, prepaid cards, and mobile payments. The sector has witnessed significant growth, fueled by increasing consumer demand and digital transformation. With a large unbanked population and a growing middle class, Mexico presents ample opportunities for financial service providers to expand their offerings and reach a wider customer base.
2. Opportunities in Mexico's Cards and Payments Sector
2.1 Rising Adoption of Digital Payments
Mexico has witnessed a steady increase in digital payment adoption. The convenience and security offered by digital payment solutions have gained popularity among consumers. This trend is further accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, as people seek contactless payment options to minimize physical interactions.
2.2 Expanding E-commerce Market
The e-commerce sector in Mexico has been rapidly growing, driven by increased internet penetration and changing consumer behavior. As consumers increasingly shop online, the demand for secure and efficient payment solutions rises. This presents opportunities for companies to develop innovative payment platforms tailored to the specific needs of e-commerce businesses.
2.3 Financial Inclusion Initiatives
Mexico has made significant efforts to enhance financial inclusion, aiming to bring more individuals into the formal banking system. By promoting access to banking services and encouraging the use of electronic payment methods, the government and financial institutions can drive economic growth and reduce the reliance on cash-based transactions.
2.4 Government Support and Regulatory Reforms
The Mexican government has implemented various regulatory reforms to foster competition and innovation within the cards and payments industry. These reforms aim to create a favorable environment for new players, encourage collaboration between financial institutions and fintech companies, and promote the development of advanced payment solutions.
3. Risks in Mexico's Cards and Payments Sector
3.1 Cybersecurity Threats
As digital payment methods become more prevalent, the risk of cyber attacks and data breaches also increases. Cybercriminals target financial transactions to exploit vulnerabilities and gain unauthorized access to sensitive information. Financial service providers need to invest in robust cybersecurity measures to protect their customers and maintain trust in the digital payment ecosystem.
3.2 Fraud and Identity Theft
Fraud and identity theft pose significant risks in the cards and payments sector. Fraudulent activities, such as card cloning and phishing attacks, can lead to substantial financial losses for both individuals and businesses. It is crucial for payment service providers to implement strong authentication protocols and educate users about potential risks to mitigate fraudulent activities effectively.
3.3 Economic Volatility and Financial Stability
Mexico's economy is subject to fluctuations and external factors that can impact the stability of the cards and payments sector. Changes in interest rates, inflation, and exchange rates can affect consumer spending and the overall financial health of individuals and businesses. Payment service providers must assess and manage these risks to ensure resilience in challenging economic conditions.
4. Technology and Innovation in Mexico's Cards and Payments Landscape
4.1 Contactless Payments
Contactless payment technology has gained popularity in Mexico, allowing users to make fast and secure transactions by simply tapping their cards or mobile devices. The convenience and speed offered by contactless payments drive its adoption, enhancing the overall customer experience and promoting the migration from cash to digital payments.
4.2 Mobile Wallets
Mobile wallets provide users with a convenient and secure way to make payments using their smartphones. With the increasing penetration of smartphones in Mexico, mobile wallets have the potential to revolutionize the way people transact, particularly among the unbanked population. These wallets offer a gateway to financial services and enable digital transactions without the need for a traditional bank account.
4.3 Biometric Authentication
Biometric authentication methods, such as fingerprint recognition and facial recognition, are gaining traction in Mexico's cards and payments sector. These advanced security measures enhance transaction security by adding an additional layer of verification, reducing the risk of fraud and unauthorized access. Biometric authentication also offers a seamless and user-friendly payment experience.
5. The Future of Mexico's Cards and Payments Industry
Mexico's cards and payments industry is poised for continued growth and innovation. With ongoing technological advancements, increasing digital adoption, and supportive government initiatives, the sector is likely to witness further transformation. The key to success lies in striking a balance between innovation and security, ensuring that advancements in payment technologies are accompanied by robust cybersecurity measures and consumer protection frameworks.
6. Conclusion
Mexico's cards and payments sector presents significant opportunities for industry players to capitalize on the country's evolving financial landscape. With rising digital adoption, expanding e-commerce, and government support, the industry is poised for growth. However, it is crucial to address the associated risks, such as cybersecurity threats and fraud, to maintain trust and secure the future of Mexico's cards and payments ecosystem.
