I have no idea who Merros is. There are several bullshit OCs in the Suda like Makaria (who has unfortunately entered popular fan discussion as "one of Hades and Persephone's 3 kids")
When I first read that I was like “why tf isn’t he on the list of Perseus’s kids?” Then realized bc he’s only mentioned in a single medieval source and was like oh that’s why. Maybe it was a spelling error and the child was actually Mestor.

Kleos
You probably haven't heard off this story unless you're my best friend
But, anyways! Experience the very short prologue through the eyes of Charlie!:
You woke up with a terrible headache and found out that you're in an omniscient world with your best friend Morgan, you're both tasked to finish the book Kleos, by reading it or becoming one with it (post-plot power levels if you will for now)
The plot's fun and all, but let's get to the post plot power levels
Charlie is the Futaba Sakura of the team, using his computer, he'll be able to map out anything, not only that, he can always bash someone's head using his trusty violin, he's an off field guy
Morgan's the poison specialist, while her poison could kill a grown healthy adult male, she's definitely not made for close or long-term combat, so with the help of her hat pins covered in a healthy dose of her poison, she'll just support from the sidelines by throwing them like throwing knives
Artemis, the incarnation of the goddess of the moon, the adopted daughter of the most powerful magician ever (aka Joyce Solomon) and also the team's debuffer, with the help of her weaponized tarot cards, just give her a minute to remember what spell she'll need and she'll deliver
Kore, the kind and motherly healer who also just so happens to be the queen of the underworld's incarnation and direct descendant of the god of thunder, with such a resume it'll just be better for you to surrender before she pulls out the bow
Ambrose, the direct descendant of Thanatos and also incarnation of the god (it's weird, I know), the cold yet sweet dps of the party, pay attention or he might behead you with his scythe
Last but never least is Ignatius, the most closest regular mortal except he's blessed by the god of the ocean while representing every mortal hero (I love my op characters), with the help of his pistols (judgment of smash style), he'll take anyone down
Now, I clearly have a thing for op heroes

Andromeda
Andromeda is a princess in Greek mythology. She is the daughter of Cepheus, the king of Aethiopia (Ethiopia), and his wife, Cassiopeia. The most famous myth associated with Andromeda is the story of her rescue by the Greek hero Perseus, who saved her from being sacrificed to a sea monster. She married Perseus, and they had several children together.
Andromeda is also one of the best-known and recognised star constellations, which also contains the Andromeda Galaxy, the largest galaxy closest to the Milky Way.
Family
Andromeda is the daughter of Cassiopeia and Cepheus, the king of Aethiopia. However, some sources mention that Cepheus was the king of Joppa (in modern-day Israel). After Perseus rescued Andromeda, they got married, and together they had seven sons and two daughters, including Perses (the legendary founder of Persia, from whom all Persian kings are descended), Helios, Alcaios, Mestor, Electryon, Sthenelos, Cynurus, Autochthe, and Gorgophone.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 you had invited bi-han over for the day, to teach him how to bake some of your most iconic pasteries. bi-han had no idea what the first few ingderents of making a asic cake was. so teaching him was going to be a bit of a challnege.
𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 "okay pre -heat the oven to 520 degreees please?" you asked. bi-han nodded, turning up the oven heat. so far, bi-han thought he could master this like he cpuld master the powers of cryomancing. "okay, get a big bowl in the cabinet right there. I'lll get the flour and sugar."
𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 bi-han reached the top cabinet and pulled out a huge metal bowl. "okay what nnow, add the sugar and flour?" he demanded, almost excitied to start baking. you giggled as you rest your hand on his chest. "no, no not yet darling. we have to get some milk and butter."
𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 bi-han seemed confused but went with it anyways. you were the master of baking not him. it's been a hwile since some had to teach him something so simple. "okay pour the flour in here, then the sugar. add only 4 table spoon of brown sugar. I'll crack the eggs as you do that."
𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 ha! easy! bo-han rippe dopen the bag of flour and dumped it carelessly into the bowl. "bi-han wait no!" but it was too late. you were covered in white flour as bi-han's face and front clothing were covered in it. you groaned as you loook at the mess in front of you.
𓆩
𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 once more bi-han embarrased himself in front of a pretty girl and upset her. "I-I'm sorry..." he uttered looking like a sad puppy as he dropped the now empty flour bag. "It's okay, we all make mistakes and it's your first time baking. we'll clean it up afterwards okay?"
𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 bi-han couldn't describe the feeling he was feeling. your gentle and soft voice was so heart warming to him. whenever his father or his master's try to train him and he slips up they'd usually punishs him with more vigor training. but you, and your charm was a nice change of pace.
𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 after the flour disater, you showed him the cooper that sat next to him as you took his hand and guided it into the bag of sugar. "one by one.." you whispered in his ears. you smiled at bi-han now handing him the eggs yoks. "okay now carefully drop them in there. bi-han gnerly let them plop into the mixture. you went behind him and pour in the milk.
𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 "would you like to mix the bowl bi-han?" you questioned extending the bowl and large spoon to him. bi-han slowly took the bowl but was confused on what to do from there. "confused?" you asked him. "uhm.."
𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 "okay here let me help you.." you placed your hand under the bowl anshifted it into the correct spot, moved his hand to place the spoon into the right position. "okay and..." you moved bi-han's hand slowly mixing it togther. you let og of bi-han watching being mestorized by his work. "there you go!" you chucled.
𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 after setting it in the oven and few hours of cleaningup, yo took out the cookies filled with sugar and joy. You dusted some powder sugar on the cookies and handed on to bi-han. he took a bite and proud of his creations, albe it with he help of you. "is it good?" bi-han could only nod as he stuffed his face with the pasteries. you took you hand and whipped the crumbs off his cheek and replaced it with a kiss.
𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 it was the end of the day by the time you reached bi-han's home. you ebter the room holding the bag of treats you and bi-han made s he held your hand tight in the other. you found tomas and kuai liang talked with their mother. bi-han's mother noticed you and her son's presences. the two boys ran up to you first.
𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 "hi! have you brought more cookies?" tomas asked with excitiment. you giggled as bi-han nudged him. "Yes of course. me and your brother made them. you bent down and handed one to tomas as he giggled and ran off to hide between his mother's legs.
𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 "(reader)! it's so lovely to meet you again! I heard you and bi-han made some cookies for tomas and I!" she greeted with glee. Kuai liang went up to his brother as the ladies were talking and leaned on bi-han. "what kuai?" he groaned. "sooo..." kuai lian looked at him with a smug face. "is that your girl?" he asked. "kua liang mind your own bussniess. how about YOU get a girlfriend and stop ebing jealous!"
𓆩
𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 kuai liang grumbled as he pushed his brother off him. " I can't even tease you with getting all grumpy!" he pouted. bi-han laughed as he rufffled kuai liang's hair. "oh bi-han!" his mother called out. "you're covered in dough and flour? do you know how long this will take to get out?!" his mother scorned and lectured as you giggled at his adorbale poutinng face.

More worldbuilding talk for my Greek myth ficverse, because I feel like it!
I try as much as I can to lean into the Myceanean era instead of later Archaic/Classical/etc Greece. Obviously this isn't simple lol because first of all we don't know much in detail about how things worked in the palaces/palace economies. It also means I discount how certain things are portrayed in the actual epics or tragedies - anything that implies a more democratic setup gets ignored. No, whatever the hell "the people" wants don't actually matter, in general!
In general I think it vaguely works for the peers of kings and princes (like in the war councils of the Iliad) to have some sort of say on each other, because it seems that in the Mycenaean era the king had a group of elites around him, aside from regional administrative positions under him.
I've tried to lean into the palace economies for some small background things! Partially this has meant references to whole workgroups of (slave) women in the fic about Iphis when she's given to Patroklos. She's a slave on Skyros working with a group of other women processing wool, for example.
I borrow bits and pieces, especially for how Hittite royalty worked, for Troy; in Ganymede's generation, his brothers held their father's two main/most important military/administrative roles, and if Ganymede hadn't been taken (and Assarakos later ended up as an independent ruler of Dardanos), he and Assarakos would've held these positions for Ilus. (The roles were generally held by brothers to the king, see.) By the Trojan war, since both Priam and his brothers are so old, Hektor isn't just the heir, but he holds the most important of these positions and I'd probably say Deiphobos (instead of one of their uncles) hold the other - Mestor probably had Deiphobos' position before he died. How Hittite royalty work is also why I've characterized the Trojan royal family as I have; Hecuba is Priam's first rank wife, and one of the other named ones (Lykaon's mother) is a second rank wife - the children of these two are eligible for the throne. Everyone else are children of concubines and not eligible for the throne, but can and are still given various positions of influence.
And all this means I basically ignore anything in what we know of Classical/etc Sparta. My mythic era Sparta is no different from the rest of mythical Achaea - at best they're a bit more known for being very good warriors, but that's it. None of the thing with Spartiates or the "bad" food or the way children were being brought up applies. It also means I ignore the whole (Spartiate) ~women in Sparta were educated the same as the men and they're so cool and strong and have better rights~ because it starts to just look weird to me at some point when we consider that this is about a very small section of the women in Sparta. So Helen and her sisters/cousins aren't any different from other elite women around Achaea.
I have obviously still ended up borrowing some things from later eras because there's no way not to do that. Often it's been religious festivals/events, to fill out the cultural details, even if there's no way these weren't established until much later. I do sometimes try to refer to/extrapolate from mentions of Mycenaean (or Hittite, where relevant) religious festivals. The Spreading of the Bed/Couch was referred to in This Pleased the Heart of Aphrodite, and there's one festival that might be a forerunner to Anthesteria's festival of the dead associations, that I've used in Adonis' fic (he gets to go up and meet Demeter during that time when he's still little, because it's easier to hide such things when the barrier between the mortal world and the Underworld is thinner).

Giuseppe Cesari (IT, 1568 - 1640)
also called Cavaliere D'Arpino
Perseus Rescuing Andromeda, 1593–94. Oil on lapis lazuli 20.2 × 15.6 × 0.7 cm. St Louis Art Museum
Ἀνδρομέδα, Androméda, is the daughter of Cepheus, king of Ethiopia, and his wife, Cassiopeia. When Cassiopeia commits Hybris and boasts that she (or Andromeda) is more beautiful than the Nereids, Poseidon sends the sea monster Cetus as punishment. Chaining Andromeda to a rock as sacrifice is what will appease Poseidon (said the oracle). Perseus returning from his quest to decapitate Medusa, petrified Cetus and brought the princess back to Greece as his queen... [therefore interracial mix]
The mythographer Apollodorus states that Perseus and Andromeda have six sons: Perses, Alcaeus, Heleus, Mestor, Sthenelus, Electryon, and a daughter, Gorgophone. Their descendants rule Mycenae from Electryon down to Eurystheus, after whom Atreus attains the kingdom. The Greek hero Heracles is also a descendant, as his mother Alcmene is the daughter of Electryon.
Poseidon punished Cassiopeia placing her as a constellation (that resembles a chair) chained (in reference of Andromeda's ordeal).
Andromeda's myth has been popular since classical antiquity and is considered the forerunner to the "princess and dragon" motif. From the Renaissance, interest revived in the original story, typically as derived from Ovid's Metamorphoses.

Doctor Who: The Twin Dilemma
Season Twenty One ✨ 1984 ✨
Doctor: 6th
Story Length: 4 Episodes
Companions: Peri
Main Setting: Titan III and Jaconda, 2310
Main Enemy: Mestor
Creatures: Gastropods, Jacondans
My Personal Rating: 6/10
Tumblr media
The Doctor has regenerated and all is not well. Confused, angry and acting strangely, the new Doctor decides to become a hermit, taking his concerned companion Peri to a desolate asteroid where he plans to live for several centuries. Source

The Doctor has a cat pin <3
Okay so my favourite ever is the big after the Doctor regenerates and goes through his wardrobe trying new clothes on.
I didn't like that Peri was being mean about the Doctor changing. I enjoyed this story enough though, it was fun and easy to watch. I liked the Gastropods.
(Please don't take these too seriously, I am not a real life reviewer, just someone who likes the show)

We asked Mestor the Slug Lord about his plan.
It’s just a scrap of paper with “Big sluggy eggs all across the universe.” written on it.
That’s literally it!
He wouldn’t elaborate.
No I can’t ask him because he’s DEAD!!!!!!

Then Priam called his sons and scolded them -- Helenus, Paris, noble Agathon, Pammon, Antiphonus, strong-voiced Polites, Deiphobus, HIppothous, and Dios. The old man bitterly reproached all nine, and gave them orders.
"Get to work for me, bad children! You are an embarrassment. If only you had died instead of Hector, all of you, dead beside those quick Greek ships! A curse has ruined me. In spacious Troy I was the father of magnificent sons, and now, I tell you, none of them survive -- Troilus who loved his horses, godlike Mestor, and Hector. Among men, he was a god. He was not like the son of some mere mortal, but of a god. Those sons were killed by Ares, and only trash is left -- you tricksters, dancers, superb at tapping rhythms with your feet, thieves of your neighbors' lambs and baby goats.

Out of all of Perseus’s 9 children only two weren’t directly stated to also be children of Andromeda, but no other mother is mentioned either. It could just be bc very few sources talk about them.
Autochthe’s existence is only mentioned by one author, Tzetzes (a Byzantine and therefore VERY late source) in a couple of his writings. She is mentioned as the daughter of Perseus, no mother mentioned. She’s also the wife of Aegeus (Theseus’s father) and had several unnamed daughters by him. Considering that none of the writings referencing her center Autochthe but rather the genealogy of the figures around her, it isn’t unlikely she was Andromeda’s daughter and that we just don’t have any surviving source directly stating her as such. But she could just be a “medieval OC” like Merros who I don’t really consider legitimate bc he’s likely just misspelled Mestor, I want Andromeda to have more than one daughter ok? Let me keep her.
Cynurus’s existence is mentioned exactly once, ONCE, in Pausanias Description of Greece (a more legit source than Tzetzes), where he led colonists from Argos to Cynuria. That’s it. It’s likely he’s also Andromeda’s son and it’s just that no source explicitly stated so survives.
Idk why I felt the need to talk about this, it’s just that I (as well as y’all) were always impressed by Perseus being one of the few ancient heroes to never cheat, but I wanted to be extra sure so I looked it up instead of just passing it around without thinking.

Children listed from Aren’s lives and in order of birth. 5 trueborn children, 2 adopted, and 5 illegitimate children born of his wife and claimed as his own. Only two souls of his many children survive: @konstcntin & @nikolaigray
Aren’s Children
Aren lived to a very old age and was able to see his children grow up until one was killed in the destruction of Eden and the other outlived him.
Euphranor: son of Erish, born Druid
Eldest son of Aren and Erish, born a druid. Lost his mother in late childhood and was raised by his father and the people of the village that he served. Followed in his father’s footsteps by helping humanity and druid alike, traveling around the world in his first life. Outlived his father. Reincarnated many times and now his soul rests in the Isle of the Blessed.
Elpidius: son of Erish, made Druid
Youngest son of Aren and Erish, born human and made druid by his Archdruid father after the death of his mother. Lost his mother in late childhood and was raised by his father and the people of the village that he served. Was eventually killed in the destruction of Eden in his first life. Reincarnated many times, including at one point as the druid Merlin which became his last life. His soul now rests in the Isle of the Blessed.
Meniates’ Child
Meniates was able to raise his adopted daughter from age 5 up to age 21 before her death.
Ilanna: daughter of unknown, Witch (Adopted)
Young witch, orphaned, living off the streets and found trying to steal from a nobleman in Egypt. Taken in by Meniates and raised as his own daughter. At 21 years old she got killed by a man that she had denied.
Perseus’ Children
Perseus was able to raise his children and loved each one equally up until his untimely death at 41 years old.
Electryon: son of Andromeda, Human
Eldest son of Perseus and heir to the Mycenean throne, ruling as king after his father’s death until his own death. Married, had many children and was eventually killed. Became a cubi demon.
Gorgophone: daughter of Andromeda
TBD. :)
Perses: son of Andromeda, Human (Illegitimate, Claimed)
Biological son of a sailor and friend of Andromeda. In an agreement of alliance and diplomacy with Cossaei, Prince Perses was sent to live with the family of his future wife, the daughter of Cossaeian leaders, at 17 years old. He eventually helped bring about the Persian people.
Sthenelus: son of Andromeda, Human (Illegitimate, Claimed)
Biological son of a Mycenaean royal guard. Triplet. Became King of Mycenae after Electryon’s death and built a new palace in Tiryns. Was eventually killed by Hyllus, son of Heracles and Deianira.
Alcaeus: son of Andromeda, Human (Illegitimate, Claimed)
Biological son of a Mycenaean royal guard. Triplet. Handled many political and financial affairs in Mycenaea. Married his wife and had three children, a son and two daughters before he was killed by political adversaries.
Cynurus: son of Andromeda, Human (Illegitimate, Claimed)
Biological son of a Mycenaean royal guard. Triplet. Died unexpectedly in his early infancy due to unknown congenital issues. Never made it past 7 months old.
Heleus: son of Andromeda, born Druid
The only son of Perseus to be born a druid. The product of Perseus and Andromeda attempting to salvage their relationship and grieving their lost child together. Lived an honest, humble life before he was cursed to become a tree in his last life. Eventually broke the curse.
Autochthe: daughter of Andromeda, made Druid (Illegitimate, Claimed)
Biological daughter of a childhood friend of Andromeda, and her true love. Died in childhood due to a slow illness. However, was turned into a druid before she died by her Archdruid father. Has stopped reincarnating and her soul rests in the Isle of the Blessed.
Mestor: son of unknown, made Druid (Adopted)
Orphaned noble child from a war and taken in by the royal family. Was turned into a druid by his adopted father at request. Had an illegitimate daughter. Lived a simple life as an artist and eventually married a man he loved, another druid. Has since stopped reincarnating and so his soul rests in the Isle of the Blessed.

THE HUGE ATLANTIS META THAT WAS A LONG TIME COMING
part 1 of god knows but i am a fool ( part 2 / part 3 )
oof bc idk if i can just post my metas whenever, i’m going to try to at least give a bit of a rundown of things about atlantis which honestly is probably me mashing a bunch of different myths together because i can’t keep things straight, but these will be around in portrayal.
from critias:
“and [poseidon] named them all ; the eldest, who was the first king, he named atlas, and after him the whole island and the ocean were called atlantic. to his twin brother, who was born after him, and obtained as his lot the extremity of the island towards the pillars of heracles, facing the country which is now called the region of gades in that part of the world, he gave the name which in the hellenic language is eumelus, in the language of the country which is named after him, gadeirus. of the second pair of twins he called one ampheres, and the other evaemon. to the elder of the third pair of twins he gave the name mneseus, and autochthon to the one who followed him. of the fourth pair of twins he called the elder elasippus, and the youngermestor. and of the fifth pair he gave to the elder the name ofazaes, and to the younger that of diaprepes. all these andtheir descendants for many generations were the inhabitants and rulers of divers islands in the open sea ; […] ”
recap. poseidon has a ton of kids with cleito, she gave him like 5 pairs of twins. in order from oldest to youngest, it seems that if i’m following this correctly: atlas, eumelus ( gadeirus ), ampheres, evaemon, mneseus, autochthon, elsasippus, mestor, azaes, diaprepes. if it wasn’t clear … which it probably wasn’t because wow is critias wordy, atlas is named the main king of atlantis.
there were many special laws affecting the several kings inscribed about the temples, but the most important was the following : they were not to take up arms against one another, and they were all to come to the rescue if any one in any of their cities attempted to overthrow the royal house; like their ancestors, they were to deliberate in common about war and other matters, GIVING THE SUPREMACY TO THE DESCENDANTS OF ATLAS. and the king was not to have the power of life and death over any of his kinsmen unless he had the assent of the majority of the ten.
so, atlas’ descendants are the main royal line and the king can’t play god with his people unless he consults the other kings. THE MAIN POINT OF THIS IS DARDANOS COMES FROM ATLAS’ LINE, he does in fact have many cousins. on this note, i’ll write about this whole family thing in a different post.
evidently, atlantis was also “an island greater in extent than libya and asia, and when afterwards sunk by an earthquake, became an impassable barrier of mud to voyagers sailing from hence to any part of the ocean” this is also from critias so uhhhh. ok well thats pretty big so uhhh idk what to say about that one but i mean sure it seems big enough in the show but i’ll do estimates later … the city was built in concentric circles tho so hey that’s at least kept in the show but my brain also always goes to minas tirith but in the ocean bc i have No Self Control™ …
HERE’S A KICKER THO
“now atlas had a numerous and honourable family, and they retained the kingdom, the eldest son handing it on to his eldest for many generations; and they had such an amount of wealth as was never before possessed by kings and potentates […] they were furnished with everything which they needed, both in the city and country. for because of the greatness of their empire many things were brought to them from foreign countries, and the island itself provided most of what was needed by them for the uses of life. in the first place, they dug out of the earth whatever was to be found there, solid as well as fusile.
they also dug out what is now only a name and was then something more than a name, ORICHALCUM. it was dug out of the earth in many parts of the island, and was more precious in those days than anything except gold.”
so atlantis had natural resources as well as imports and had this one (1) miracle substance called orichalcum which is in fact exactly what the oreichalkos in yugioh is based off of, but that’s probably pretty obvious now. i’m pretty sure that it is in the jp yugioh where he says ‘oreichalkos can become anything, cloth, wood, stone,’ he even mentions food ?? i think well uhh yeah this is what gives atlantis its huge advantages but it also is clearly a source of corruption. back in the day, gold was like the Most Important Thing™ which may not be the case now but imagine an island filled with a substance that is worth second only to gold, tell me the people living on that island wouldn’t get possessive and greedy about it.
“the entire circuit of the wall, which went round the outermost zone, they covered with a coating of brass, and the circuit of the next wall they coated with tin, and the third, which encompassed the citadel, flashed with the red light of orichalcum.”
i mean heck they COVERED THEIR CITY IN IT my god. also idk why but translating from what is seen on the cards in show… and whatnot oreichalkos is also a type of brass so thats redundant i guess it’s just … brass and magic brass idk, at this point just going through material from timaeus and critias is exhausting but anyway yes. i’ll continue this thing in part 2 which will also address more of this and how it actually ties in with my portrayal.
