Vexation

Opal was annoyed. She was irritated. She was cross. She was irked. She was downright vexed. The only problem was… she couldn’t quite remember what for. Was it because of her breakfast? After all, her typical morning meal of honey-sweetened dates had been so rudely interrupted by that idiot, Sool, who had seen it fit to ruin her meal by appearing before her to grovel over something or other. Or perhaps he had come to demand something of her? It was no matter in the end - she had simply resolved the issue by having him executed, as was her custom. It was a fitting punishment for both the inept and the overzealous, as far as the cherubic beauty was concerned. So… no. It wasn’t at breakfast. 

Perhaps, then, it was because of something one of her idiot servants, Mervall and Descant, had done. They were such bumbling buffoons, it was a wonder she kept them on at all really. Wait, no - it wasn’t a wonder at all, really. She kept them around because they were identical twins, which were unheard of amongst her people. And because, whenever the simpletons managed to shut their mouths and do as they were told… they were fair eye candy.

Opal’s confusion was only managing to make her frustration even worse. She was so fixated on it, she couldn’t think about anything else. She couldn’t think about her sophisticated schemes, her dreadful designs, or even her pioneering ploys. No, she was positively stuck; utterly unable to get her mind off of the… whatever it was that had utterly derailed her mood and her day. 

It was becoming a terrible bore by now. Why, she would give her left arm just to know what it was! Well… not her left arm. But she would certainly be willing to give away one of the brothers’ arms for it. Perhaps even one from each. A right and a left, just to keep things balanced. Why, when she was running this place she might require an arm from every citizen, just to…

And then she finally remembered what it was that had her in such a foul mood. What it was that had her so utterly vexed. It was that her very plans to become that ruler she was imagining had been utterly derailed – for the time being at least - by the public order of her own execution. It was all very dramatic, this execution; after all, she’d only murdered the Pharaoh. It was going to happen anyway on her assent to power… it wasn’t her fault he had interrupted her breakfast.

In spite of herself - in spite of the terrified wails of Mervall and Descant as the Medjai dragged them away, in spite of the suspicious crate of carnivorous scarab beetles hissing and rattling furiously nearby, in spite of the men currently binding her in linen and preparing to bury her alive with a “terrible curse” to torture her soul for all eternity and blah blah blah… the Priestess found herself smiling.

These idiots and their curses. They could imprison her all they wanted - no one put chains on the High Priestess of Osiris, on the mistress of the Book of Life itself. They could perform the Hom-Dai a thousand times… she would be back. And she would have her revenge.

Seven Deadly Sinday

Colorful tails swished through the salty seawater, both forms darting away from the shore and into safer, deeper, open waters. Humans were as stubborn as ever, fishers and hunters stationed at the shore and in their boats, searching for the catches of the day, otherwise known as Vale and Chris. Nearly ensnared in nets and shot at with harpoons, it was vital for the two of them to move as fast as they could, swimming as if their lives depended on it! And it did!

While stubborn, as previously mentioned, they were opportunistic, listening in on any advantage they could. Those stories of sea monsters held truth to them, and so humans hunted for anything that looked like their target. Large fins, colorful designs, "humans" diving under fishing boats and following schools of fish and pods of dolphins, sirens singing forgotten songs. They knew just what to look for, and Vale had worried that Chris had gotten too close to the shore, too close to humans who did not wish them well.

"I'm sorry!" They shouted, swerving between reefs and rocks to obscure themself from and prying eyes and vessels that may have followed the speeding duo. "I just...bad experiences with fishers and hunters! I get scared anytime I see you anywhere near the boats, I'm sorry! Listen we can...we can talk when we get to safety, okay? Humans aren't that bright when it comes to findin' us, so I was scared they spotted you or somethin'!"

H and M for the fanfic game!

First of all, those are my god damn initals.

How would you describe your style?

Well, I'm incapable of being serious for more than a chapter or two so my fics aren't usually as deep and analytical as I want them to be because I just can't write at that level yet.

It also changes depending on what I've read, I'm reading the Odyssey and have to stop myself from writing Escapees of the Dementors like that which is fun.

So I suppose it's very flexible, focusing more on the narrative then the descriptions and things like that.

Got any premises on the back burner that you'd care to share?

Oh, I'd love to.

Okay so we have the Statue Au, which I want to write so badly but I need to figure out how to write children, because Valkyrie is eight. I also have the Fae AU and remember how I said I can't stay serious? Yea, also on the backburner.

Then there's, Medium and Shapeshifter Valkyrie which focuses on how Valkyrie can't process death due to always having ghosts around her and her identity because she can't remember what she looks like respectively.

There's Serpduggery which is only in the back because of lack of solid foundation right now and the same goes for the third fic in my Time-Travel series because Valkyrie has a thing with her magic which is happening.

There's also a Spy x Family crossover one-shot I'm writing but that's taking a hot second, the Wing AU as well. The first fic is partly out but I've hit a wall over there. Vampire and Fantasy Valkyrie because those focus on Valkyrie's morals and how her enemies treat her better than her friends.

There's of course, the Forbidden Au, with Valkyrie being Vile's right hand. She's an archer in that Au btw. There's the one where Valkyrie accidentally kills the wrong Skulduggery, ValSkul Swap, not sure if you've heard of that one and Grieving Cain and I'm so glad I called it that now we know what Winter's last name is.

Baby Snatch Au is partly written, Eldritch Valkyrie, Fake Reality, MerVal is half written but idk if I'll ever post that, I have a Gravity Falls one and a Fnaf one.

And I'm partly writing all of them.
