SUMMARY: The king was being an annoying arse, as per usual. Merlin had pulled a prank on said prat, which was more usual than either Gaius or Arthur would've liked. He escaped to the castle's library, hiding away until a cursed fairytale fell on his head, which was not so usual. Oh, and Lancelot might have been raised by fairies.

MERCELOT/MERLANCE LINE ANALYSIS

"Your destinies were Entwined/Intertwined (not much difference)" -> Canon statement from Gaius

Meaning: When two people get entwined, they see every aspect of each other. Which makes sense because Lancelot and Merlin knew EVERYTHING about each other. They saw each other's true selves and loved each other regardless.

"Bregdan Anweald"

Meaning : "Bregdan Anweald" is equivalent to "to make more powerful" or "to draw power". Lancelot's is Merlin's POWER! He is the one that encourages Merlin to be more confident and himself. He is the one who found out about Merlin and accepted him without question (even if he could have gained Uther's trust by outing him). He is Merlin's pillar/support/source for solace. And these are things that give Merlin strength/power.

"Your secret is safe with me" -> Canon statement from Lancelot

Meaning: Lancelot wanted to be a knight of Camelot. That was his ambition. Once he found out about Merlin's magic, he could have told Uther and be a full knight, since Uther would appreciate a knight against magic. But he CHOOSES NOT TO! He chooses Merlin OVER pleasing the king! Let's also not forget that this is Season 1. Merlin and Lancelot knew each other for about a week, yet Lancelot chooses to keep Merlin's magic a secret. This is the start of a true friendship.

"Lancelot needed you and you needed Lancelot" -> Canon statement from Gaius

Meaning: They needed each other. Lancelot became a Knight/fulfilled his dream thanks to Merlin and Merlin could be himself with Lancelot. Also, had Lancelot lived in season 5, Merlin wouldn't have been so paranoid and magic would have been legalized earlier. And more trouble would have been solved.

3 ships: I have A LOT, how do you expect me to choose? Well, one per fandom, i guess. As of now I'm obsessed with the ineffable husbands (good omens); bingqiu (svsss) is my all time favorite, and i've been thinking a lot about mercelot lately (bbc merlin). Honorary mention to damen and laurent from captive prince.

first ever ship: eh, i think that was tulio and miguel from The Road to El Dorado. I loooved them when I was growing up. But my actual first ship as a teenager was (sighs) jacobella.

last song: Warrior of the Mind, caleb hyles and annapantsu's version

last movie: Fright Night (2011). Obsessed with David Tennant's Peter Vincent. This was the video that compelled me to see the movie.

currently reading: good omens fanfiction 😆

currently watching: i'm in that face where i'm watching a bunch of stuff simultaneously. i'm occasionally watching lucifer, watched the first ep of the one piece live action, rewatching good omens ad infinitum, watched half a season of outlander last week, and also finishing s3 and starting on s4 of the handmaid's tale. watched an episode of torchwood to know what was it about, too. as for anime, i watched the first episodes of Undead Girl Murder Farce and AI no Idenshi.

1. “There’s a Mystery at Large (and the Story Should Be Beautiful)”

The scene he had just witnessed made Gwaine happy for his friends, but he would have preferred it if snogging was the only reason for Merlin and Lancelot sneaking off together.

2. “The Light upon My Map Comes from the Very Sun”

‘I just think that this is bigger than us,’ Lancelot said quietly. ‘It’s not about doing them a favour; it’s about protecting Camelot. And isn’t that more important than anything?’

3. “Hold Me Close, Sway Me More”

‘Happy 1555th, Merlin.’

‘You’ve made it so. And we still have…’ he squinted at the clock, ‘3 hours and 17 minutes. Any ideas?’

4. “When They Open Their Eyes and Realise”

‘That one,’ the imp pointed to the knight, ‘walked through the Veil for that one,’ he nodded at Emrys, ‘but because they had unfinished business, the universe went out of balance.’

5. “When No One Else Can Understand Me”

I’m never just Merlin. I’m not hiding who I am anymore, and yet still no one sees me. Not like you did.

6. “And It’s Me You Need to Show How Deep Is Your Love”

‘What?’ Lancelot stopped and craned his neck to frown at him. ‘How is carrying you on my back making an entrance?’

‘Well, maybe it wouldn’t be if you were wearing a shirt.’

7. “I Could Stay Awake Just to Hear You Breathing”

He was convinced they were indeed safe for the night and knew that he should take the opportunity to rest, but he couldn’t, not while Merlin was still teetering on the brink between life and death.
