Sign Ups Are OPEN for this year's 'Finish that Fic, Merlin! (2024/2025)

Another year has passed with you being completely unable to finish those darn WIPs in your folder. Fear not! 'Finish that Fic, Merlin!' is once again here to w(h)ip your arse into shape so you can finally clear your conscience! (and you WIP-folder)

The fest will run from November 1st 2024 till March 31st 2025!

If you've never heard of 'Finish that Fic, Merlin!' before, the short answer is that it is, like the same suggests, a fest to help you finish your WIPS. All those fics you've started but for whatever reason never finished. Maybe life got in the way, maybe you just didn't have the motivation, and without a deadline, it's easier to just do other things instead. Well, now's the time to sign up for this fest, so you can finally finish!

Before you sign up, however, please be sure to read 'How This Fest Works' and the 'FAQs' for the long answer on what 'Finish that Fic, Merlin!' is. I know it sounds weird, but there's some rules to follow, and more importantly, an explanation on how you can get a prize for your hard work! After you've done that, you can sign up here via Livejournal or here via Google Forms.

If you need some cheerleading, you can head over to Discord to join The Tavern(18+) server where I've been graciously allowed to host a channel for this fest. Please note that while The Tavern server is for 18+, if you're under 18, you can still participate in 'Finish that Fic, Merlin!' you just can't be part of that particular Discord server. Fortunately, there are other Merlin servers for people of all ages to help you with your writing. You can even find me in some of them :D

✨merlin rewatch 2023✨

okay, with the way ive planned it, we can get the whole thing done right before the start of @merthurweek2023 !!!

here’s the deal: one episode every five days, unless it’s a two parter, then it’s both episodes within those five days. under the cut is the schedule i made. you can save them if you want to♥️

you can watch with the schedule, you can join for a few random weeks, you can pick and choose which episodes you want to watch or make a creation for—all up to you!!

(you can join my discord server, too, if you want to watch when others do & we can talk about it)

Summer slathers over them, thick like honey and just as sweet. The heat makes Gwen languid and slow, more prone to affection than usual.

Her head is pillowed on Arthur’s belly, her body perpendicular to his. Merlin usually lays on her own stomach with his legs paralleling Arthur’s. The three of them are a mix-match of human building blocks. Just the thought makes the corner of her mouth twitch up.

Feb 22: Platonic Day | Let’s throw amatonormativity out of the window. We’re breaking the notion that romantic love is the highest form of love and showing people the beauty of non-romantic bonds, whether it’s a familial relationship, friendship, QPR or something else entirely!

Feb 23: Aplatonic Day | Who said love or attraction is necessary for happiness, an essential part of being human or an important factor in experiencing life? There are so many things that make life beautiful besides love and attraction. This day is dedicated to aplatonics, loveless aromantics, and people who don’t feel different tertiary attractions, or any of them at all!

With the way the weather has been all wrong this year, it's hard to believe it's almost November and time for a new round of 'Finish that Fic, Merlin!' Alas, the calender doesn't lie, which means it's once more time to dig out those old WIPs you've conveniently forgotten about and start working on them again.

The fest will run from November 1st 2023 to March 31st 2024!

If you're new to this fest, be sure to head over to 'How This Fest Works' and the 'FAQs' before signing up right here on Livejournal or here with Google Forms.

There's no cheerleader/beta reader sign up this year, as no people use it. Instead you can join the Discord server The Tavern(+18) where there's going to be a special channel for this fest, where you can get help to get those plasted words down.

MerlinMemoryMonth is a prompt-based Merlin BBC fest that remembers and celebrates Merlin by offering prompt days during one month and reblogging all the posts that will be created for the prompts. This is where you come in: Create and post!

You are welcome to gif, write, edit, knit, arrange, draw, craft, vid, head canon, manip, sew - you come up with it, we reblog it.

The fest is intended to be an easy-going and hopefully joy-bringing event. No sign-ups, no assignments - just simply post when it suits you. Contributions will be accepted until June 5th 2019.

We have only 2 rules really: You mustn’t post before the respective prompt day (GMT time zone, London time) and please be polite. Yet to be honest we don’t know Merlin fandom any other way so we are pretty sure this won’t be an issue :)

We politely ask you to create new content for this month, but if you have a certain idea how to pimp-up or alter a specific earlier creation of yours, we will accept these as well. Just please do not take anything another creator has done unless you have their explicit permission to do so.

All ratings, all Merlin characters, all pairings go. Please add warnings and triggers to your posts if necessary.

Feel free to interpret the prompts as openly as you like - the prompts are just ideas to get you rolling and the most important thing is for you to have fun, and remember Merlin.

THE TRIUMVIRATE: CHAPTER 3

Summary: (3/3) Post-3x10 Queen of Hearts. When Arthur asks Merlin to talk to Gwen on his behalf, Merlin’s whole world changes for the better. | written for day one (royalty + angst) of @merlinfests's mergwenthur month

Lunch with Gwen is as normal as ever. Even the kiss—and more—doesn’t deter either of them from teasing each other and talking about the latest castle gossip. Merlin’s grateful. He doesn’t want to lose this familiarity. Arthur too, but somehow Merlin knows that Arthur’s going to be the same as ever.

Gwen grants him a soft kiss on the cheek before he leaves. He’s bouncing on the balls of his feet again, unable to untangle the emotions in his chest. Merlin is torn between wanting to push Gwen up against the wall and feel her body against his again, or running to give Arthur her message.

In the end, it’s Gwen that pushes him out.
