Lewis Hamilton on finding his personal styleâand why Pharrell is his style icon
At Mercedes-Benz Australia and Vogue Australia's dinner in celebration of the upcoming Melbourne Grand Prix, the seven-time world champion and driver spoke candidly about all things Formula 1 and fashion.
How does Lewis Hamilton spend a Thursday evening, the day before a race weekend? If tonight was something to go off of, the answer would be waxing lyrical about personal style and his style icons onstage at a dinner trackside. The seven-time world champion popped into the Mercedes AMG Lounge at Melbourne's Albert Park for a dinner hosted by Mercedes-Benz Australia and Vogue Australia in celebration of the Formula 1 Grand Prix, speaking on stage with teammate George Russell and Fox Sports commentator Hannah Hollis. And there was no better person to ask about style than Hamilton, a driver who has arguably pioneered the modern synergy between fashion and Formula 1. A race week brings plenty of speed and adrenaline, but also outfit after outfit from Hamilton, who often roams the paddock in labels like Bottega Veneta, Valentino, Dior and Rick Owens. How, then, Hollis wondered aloud before a seated audience, did he discover his own sense of personal style, and what would he recommend to someone else attempting to do the same? "I'm sure many of you look at your old photos and think, 'What the hell was that?'" Lewis laughed. "But what I've discovered is it's a real process, a real journey. Itâs just trying and being daring. I think I've tried so many different styles. I kind of describe my style as an evolution. It's whatever makes you feel great. The trick is about self-expression. None of us are the same as anyone else. We have our own unique tastes, but it's whatever makes you feel sexy! Embracing confidence." For Hamilton, style goes hand-in-hand with performance. "I grew up aspiring to be a Formula 1 driver. I wasn't thinking about my fashion sense on the journey," he continued. "I think a lot of drivers have gone through the same experience. Fashion is such an important way to express yourself, and you have got to feel good. If you're wearing something that you feel confident in, you walk in with a lot of extra inches in your stride and you know that's what you need when you walk into the paddock. When your fans have cameras on you and you've got your competitors around, you need to have that confidence, so I think fashion is actually really important. It's taken me a long time to get fashionable and a long time to actually convince the teams to change; I wasn't able to wear my own things. And then I started going to fashion shows. I really love the fashion shows because there's a very diverse audience; so many different people from different walks of life, all dressed in their own styles, with no apologies. So it's been a fun journey, and now all of these other drivers are starting to express themselves in their own way." On the topic of sartorial icons, Hamilton was quick to praise Naomi Campbell, cover star of Vogue Australia's most recent March 2024 issue. "Naomi is incredible. I met Naomi many, many times. In the first year [we met], 2007, she just immediately adopted me as a brother, so she's always been that big sis. But for me, when I was younger, I think I was heavily influenced by hip-hop, R&B and pop culture. I was always watching those videos when I got home. Pharrell, for me, was that style icon for me. I loved how he progressed from music into the fashion space when he was working with Chanel. And what heâs doing now, leading LV, is pretty incredible, so I look up to him for that."

model: Josh Heuston IG profile: @jheuston
Josh Heuston is a 27-year-old Sri Lankan-Australian model and actor who was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. Heuston graduated from Macquarie University in 2019, earning himself a double major with a Bachelor of Science in Biomolecular Science and a Bachelor of Commerce.
In Heartbreak High, Heuston plays the schoolâs quintessential popular guy, Dusty Reid. His character is described as âso gorgeous it hurtsâ, and is a bass player in an indie rock band who has slept with half the girls and a handful of boys at Hartley High school. However, underneath his attractive façade, Dusty is just as insecure as the rest of us.
In an interview with Daily Mail Australia, Heuston shared how it felt to film Heartbreak High after having left high school years ago.
âIt was like a flashback. It was nice though, the energy was good,â Heuston said. âI wasnât the popular kid in high school, like Dusty, I kind of hopped around groups.â
Aside from Heartbreak High, Heuston has previously worked as a bartender while studying at university, where he was then scouted to be a model. Soon after, Heuston turned to photography and became a content creator, where he posts mainly to Instagram and YouTube.
Throughout his modelling, he has worked on campaigns for major brands, including Fendi, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, David Jones and Burberry, to name a few. He has also sat front row at Tommy Hilfiger shows in Milan and Shanghai, even doing a meet and greet for the brand in Sydney. In 2018, he made his debut at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia to walk for the brand, Justin Cassin.
As for his acting career, he began by staring in a music video for Super Cruelâs âSicklacedâ, alongside Cartia Mallan in 2017, where he fell in love with acting. From there, he starred in Network 10âs Dive Club which made its way to Netflix, before he starred in a small, non-speaking role in Thor: Love and Thunder as a âZeus Pretty Boyâ. Following his role in Heartbreak High, heâs also had roles in the teen drama series More Than This and Bali 2002 on Stan.
Heuston doesnât give away much on his personal Instagram, so weâre not currently certain of his single status.
However, Heuston was last linked to Australian model and DJ Carla Martinez in January 2023.
Prior to that, fans were convinced that he had something going on with none other than Kendall Jenner. At the beginning of October 2022, Heuston posted a TikTok flaunting his business class plane seat.
And underneath, comments accumulated from fans of his, but one from none other than Kendall Jenner herself.
Just writing the word âSLAYYâ in the comments section, you wouldnât be at fault if you believed that this account was Jennerâs real one. But alas, the account that commented is not her, despite being verified, because the account has almost 500,000 followers while Jenner actually has closer to four million.
That said, he doesnât seem to share too much about his personal life online, other than his friendships and travels, so thereâs a chance he does have a partner and is merely keeping it on the down lowâand fair enough too.

Read the full article

Design duo Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales launched Romance Was Bornâs first book and their latest Resort 2019 collection, Opal Goddess, at an intimate salon-style presentation at Restaurant Hubert.
Guests were transported from Sydney as they descended down the diamond-pattered staircase and into the dimly lit, underground venue. Greeted at the restaurant entrance, re-imagined as an air-bridge, Etihad flight attendants in bespoke Romance Was Born printed silk neck scarves welcomed guests with champagne and traditional Arabic delicacies, providing a brief stop-over before the journey continued to the French-style bistro.
Guests entered the Theatre Royale landing space atop an auditorium of one hundred red leather seats, providing the perfect viewpoint to take-in the beguiling set which debuted the brandâs book Romance Was Born. The new release was stacked high on display for attendees to browse and enjoy before they were ushered into the 1930âs-style basement dining room to take their seats.
A short drag performance by Dame Gaynor Tension set the scene; serenading the crowd with a rendition of Judy Garlandâs âsomewhere over the rainbowâ, before fifteen ethereal art-deco goddesses snaked their way around tables, pausing to pose amongst the bar benches and cosy banquettes. The Opal Goddess resort collection, the brandâs first collaboration with iconic Australian artist Jenny Kee, includes prints from her renowned archive â rainbow opal designs and silk collages filled with almighty female icons, from Gaia to Aphrodite, exploring female divinity.
âOur mutual appreciation of each otherâsâ work led us to collaborate with our long-term friend Jenny Kee, and revisit some of her classic prints in a new way,â explains Luke Sales. Anna Plunkett adds, âWeâve always been interested in goddesses and Xanadu, and the inspiration and strength that they provide to women. Alongside the mysticism of opals, this spirit is at the core of the new collection.â
Renya Xydis, Wella Professionals ANZ â Creative Director comments âWorking with Romance Was Born is (much like the collection) a dream for me. Anna and Lukeâs creativity and openness towards design allows me to be experimental with the hair styling. We channelled âgoddessesâ across multiple looks, using a spectrum of EIMI styling products and of course, glitter. All of the glitter. Congratulations Romance on yet another incredible show.â
Upon exit, all guests received the book Romance Was Born as a gift; the 200 page tome shares the stories and artistic collaborations that have inspired the collections of the iconic Australian label and celebrates the first 10 years of their journey together.

Ginger & Smart Resort 2018
Iâmnot completely sure of this collection this year. Itâs really not something that Iâve come to expect of this. There were just so many colours and textures that I didnât know where to look. I felt that there were just too many to take in.
I would love to know what your thoughts are on this collection.
