Hey Arcana fandom, it's been a while 👋 I found an old series of sketches from last year and cleaned them up a bit because I thought they were funny ✨ It's sort of a follow up to [this post].

Oh, to live in a world where Julian can be as sassy as he wants to Lucio with no consequences 💖 (Transcript below the cut, in case my handwriting is illegible).

Panel 1: Lucio: Jules, it's such a tragedy! Lucio: He walks by every day, but it's like I'm invisible! He doesn't even wave "hello" like all the other little landfolk (T_T)

Panel 2: Julian: (staring contemptuously at the arm Lucio has thrown over his shoulder) ...Who?

Lucio: You know--the blue one. The assistant from in Noddy's lab. Lucio: It's not like I'm not impressive. Anyone would notice me, right? (;n;)

Panel 3: Julian: Oh, by the Seven--you mean Velle? They're the one who's got you like this?

Lucio: Wh--You know them?

Julian: (gleefully) Yes. And I hate to break it to you, but you're barking up the entirely wrong tree. See, they prefer partners who possess the ability to breathe air.

Panel 4: Julian: (swims away)

Lucio: (dejected) Rude.

Nadia as a Mermaid

They say that mermaids only make their presence known when their hair matches the colour of the bodies of water they reside in. Many mermaids bear hair the colour of ink, visible only when it's late at night. Few mermaids come with hair suitable for a bright day but a few do exist.

You have never seen the water turn purple before.

Nor have you ever seen a mermaid like her before.

Her eyes match her hair, that deep royal purple that seems so atypical of the water to become, and yet here you stand. And there she sits. A clawed hand emerges from the water, her mouth still buried below it's waves, maintaining that thin illusion of humanity did she want to take you below with her? To drown you and eat you whole? Or did she want to make a deal.

Thin as a needle, an object daintily held between her poised fingers catches the dying light of the sun, gleaming silver for a moment, and drawing your attention to the proffered gift. Opals and pearls drip down in chains from the tail of one end, the other looking piercingly sharp. It's a hairpin you think for a fleeting moment.

It's a wand you realize, a moment later.

It's faint but the details are there. Mana trails along the slim wand and delicate obsidian and opal fills. The details carved into the handle. It is a hefty, powerful weapon clearly suited to water based spells. A detriment to any mer who would be on the receiving end of your wand. And yet she offers it to you. A hefty gift.

One that would bear a hefty cost.

You open your hand, but don't move to accept the gift quite yet, asking silently instead for the conditions of her present.

And from the waters, the regal mermaid rises sharp teeth on full display as she parts plush lips, twisted into a severe frown.

"Bring me the head of the man with the poison beetle heart," the words come out in a violent hiss, almost sing-song, almost spat.

She presses the wand, the weapon into your open hand, before she turns, sparing you only a momentary lingering glance before she dives back down and disappears into the current.

It takes only a light spell to realize the strength of the dainty little thing. You wonder on your way home, who exactly that beetle hearted man would be, but your question does not linger long, as you catch the remains of a parade celebrating the arrival of the beloved count Lucio.

A red beetle-like jewel sits on his chest, pinned right atop his heart. And as he glances your way, waving to your section of the crowd, you can already feel the wand begin to burn.

기억 -

나에게 이 단어 너무 재미있당~ 한국어를 배우기 시작했을 때 '기억'라는 단어 계속 계속 잊었다 ㅋㅋㅋ 하지만 이제는 '기억'에 관한 기억한다! 어쨌든 나도 내 꿈을 기억하는 것을 매우 좋아한다! 꿈이 우리에게 너무 많은 도움이 되다.

아, 잠시만요! 어젯밤에는 마침내 아무 생각 없이 한국어로 뭐라고 했다… 진짜 멋졌��ㅋㅋ 이것을 말하고 싶었당~

la mémoire - toutes mes photos sont des mémoires mais ces trois içi un petit peu plus. dans la premiére il y'a moi-même quand j'étais petite et dans un hotel à la mer. on était en vacances en toscana. j'ai pris la duxiéme photo quand j'avais une vertèbre fracturée en 2012: tenir l'appareil photo était très difficile, je n'avais pas force.

el recuerdo - para tomar la última foto unos años atrás necesitaba ayuda pero nadie tuvo tiempo. cuando mi abuela lo supo, ella me ayudó inmediatamente. no le gustaba mucho haber foto tomadas de ella pero cuando le dije que solo había fotografiado unos dedos me dijo rápido que sí. ahora que ella se fue, esa foto es un muy lindo recuerdo por mi.

L'arte è una caramella allo Spazio Teatro No'hma (Milano) il 6 & 7 marzo 

L'applaudita stagione "In Viaggio" dello Spazio Teatro No'hma (Milano) prosegue la sua articolata proposta artistica con lo spettacolo L'arte è una caramella che andrà in scena mercoledì 6 e giovedì 7 marzo alle ore 21.

In tema con il titolo della stagione 2023/2024, lo spettacolo propone un coinvolgente viaggio nella storia dell'arte che parte da Monna Lisa per arrivare ai giorni nostri.

Il titolo è stato ispirato da un mucchio di caramelle esposto in un museo d'arte contemporanea. 

"Non capendo mi sono domandato: perché un mucchio di caramelle è un'opera d'arte? Per scoprirlo ho cominciato un lungo viaggio attraverso la storia dell'arte. Lo spettacolo è il riassunto di quel viaggio" - spiega Carlo Vanoni, ancora una volta nella duplice veste di autore e di attore "atipico", come è solito definirsi. 

Vanoni, chitarrista, storico dell'arte, dottore in sociologia dei mass media e in conservazione dei Beni culturali, torna così sul palcoscenico di via Orcagna dopo il successo dello spettacolo Ratamacue, Storia di arte per voce e batteria, che lo scorso marzo per la stagione Tutti insieme possiamo lo ha visto in scena con il musicista Phil Mer.

Il racconto che dà vita a L'arte è una caramella ha inizio da capolavori come l'Olympia di Edourd Manet e l'Autoritratto di Vincent Van Gogh. Carlo Vanoni alterna e mescola linguaggi, accosta Raffaello a Lucio Fontana, Leonardo da Vinci a Andy Warhol, ricorrendo all'aiuto di strumenti musicali e oggetti: una tastiera per accompagnare il pubblico nella pittura astratta di Kandinsky; la chitarra elettrica quando sullo schermo appare un dipinto di Jackson Pollock; un carillon per Picasso e un orinatorio per Duchamp e gli artisti concettuali.

"Abbiamo voluto di nuovo con noi Carlo Vanoni per la sua capacità di accompagnare con sensibilità, ironia  e intelligenza il pubblico attraverso correnti e movimenti artistici differenti. Il risultato è una lezione-monologo senza retorica, divertente, ricca di sorprese, che offre stimoli e strumenti per scoprire e amare i capolavori e i grandi protagonisti della storia dell'arte" – spiega Livia Pomodoro Presidente dello Spazio Teatro No'hma Teresa Pomodoro.

Dentro “Al di là delle stelle”, troviamo sei tracce, cinque cover e un brano originale della cantautrice pugliese. È una sessione di registrazione live, senza possibilità di correzioni. Crudo e semplice, voce e chitarra, con errori annessi e solo qualche sovraincisione concessa.

Questo nuovo lavoro di Rita Zingariello nasce dalla voglia di catturare un momento di creatività, sostenuto dal piacere di interpretare in chiave minimale alcune canzoni note e meno note della musica italiana e internazionale. Troviamo infatti tra i brani di Lucio Dalla e Pino Daniele la famosissima “Fragile”, brano della superstar inglese Sting o la canzone in lingua portoghese di Patrizia Laquidara “Noite Luar”. La title track invece è un brano della stessa Zingariello, contenuto nella sua versione originale nell’album d’esordio “Frammenti simili” (2014).

Sei brani che anticipano dunque il nuovo album di inediti di Rita Zingariello, previsto per la primavera 2024.

6. Stella di mare - È tempo di delicatezza e passione. È tempo di osservare chi ti dorme accanto e scoprire che è esattamente lì che sognavi di stare. Tra la terra e il cielo.

Rita Zingariello è di origini pugliesi. Esordisce nel 2008 con “È alba”, un ep di cinque canzoni. Tra il 2012 e il 2016 ottiene molti riconoscimenti in premi a valenza nazionale: Frequenze Mediterranee, Festival della Canzone Friulana, Voci per la libertà per Amnesty International, UP, Festival dell’Alta Murgia, Red Bull Tour.

Il suo primo album è “Possibili percorsi”, prodotto dal polistrumentista trentino Phil Mer. Dopo aver aperto concerti di Gino Paoli, Paola Turci, Mario Venuti, PFM e molti altri, collabora con Mogol per uno spettacolo incentrato sulle canzoni del grande autore.

Nella primavera del 2018 pubblica “Il canto dell’ape”, secondo album che riceve una serie di riconoscimenti: riceve menzioni al Premio InediTo, al Premio Pigro per Ivan Graziani, al Premio Peppino Impastato ed è inoltre vincitrice assoluta della prima edizione del Premio Pascoli, musicando “Patria” del poeta romagnolo. Il disco viene accolto molto positivamente da pubblico e critica. Nel 2019 realizza un progetto ambizioso: un doppio album, distribuito su supporto USB, in cui raccoglie trenta cover arrangiate con gusto e interpretate con originalità, dal titolo “I giganti e la bambina – canzoni a richiesta”, un lavoro finalizzato alla raccolta fondi per il progetto “Respira bellezza” della Fondazione Francesca Divella, che offre assistenza psicologica ai pazienti oncologici.

Tra il 2019 e il 2020 è stata impegnata in un tour teatrale in tutta Italia, dedicato a questo ultimo lavoro discografico (Sanremo, Bari, Roma, Bisceglie, Reggio Calabria).

Durante la pandemia è notata dal critico musicale Michele Neri che la invita a partecipare alla trasmissione televisiva “Settenote” di Gigi Marzullo su Rai1 con la canzone “Risalire”.

Il 26 gennaio 2024 esce il singolo “Al di là delle stelle”, primo estratto dell’ep che porta lo stesso titolo in uscita il 30 gennaio.

Il nuovo album di inediti è atteso per la primavera del 2024.

Tomó como sede el antiguo Hospital General de Madrid, gran edificio neoclásico del siglo xviii situado en la zona de Atocha, cerca de la estación homónima de tren y de la Estación del Arte de Metro. Este hospital fue diseñado inicialmente por José de Hermosilla y continuado posteriormente por Francesco Sabatini, y actualmente se le conoce como edificio Sabatini en honor a este arquitecto italiano. El museo como tal fue inaugurado en 1992, si bien el edificio ya había albergado exposiciones temporales en años previos. En septiembre de 2005 se ampliaron las instalaciones de la institución con la apertura del edificio Nouvel en el inicio de la Ronda de Atocha.

El Reina Sofía es el vértice sur del conocido como Triángulo del Arte de Madrid, que incluye a otros dos célebres museos: el Prado y el Thyssen-Bornemisza. Forma parte del denominado Paisaje de la Luz, paisaje cultural declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad el 25 de julio de 2021.

 En la colección permanente del museo destaca un núcleo de obras de grandes artistas españoles del siglo xx, especialmente Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí y Joan Miró, representados ampliamente y con algunas de sus mejores obras. Son muy relevantes también las colecciones de arte surrealista (con obras de Francis Picabia, René Magritte, Óscar Domínguez o Yves Tanguy, además de los ya citados Miró y Dalí), del cubismo (que a la colección Picasso añade nombres como Juan Gris, María Blanchard, Georges Braque, Robert Delaunay, Fernand Léger o Albert Gleizes), y la presencia de artistas de la Nueva Figuración, como Francis Bacon o Antonio Saura.

 Junto a estos autores hay muchos otros de diversas tendencias tan destacados como Lucio Fontana, Yves Klein, Diego Rivera, Alexander Calder, Roberto Matta, Mark Rothko, Antonio López García, Antoni Tàpies, Miquel Barceló o Sam Francis.

 El Museo Reina Sofía cuenta con excelentes colecciones de Juan Gris, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí y Joan Miró, cuatro artistas españoles que se encuentran entre los más importantes del siglo xx y cuyos trabajos constituyen el gran puntal del museo.

 El repertorio del madrileño Juan Gris es singularmente rico, a pesar de haber tenido que ser reunido en su totalidad en las últimas décadas, ya que su primera obra no se incorporó a las colecciones nacionales españolas hasta fecha muy tardía. Fue La guitare devant la mer (La guitarra ante el mar), comprada en 1977 para el MEAC.​ Sin embargo en la actualidad el fondo del autor incluye ya diecinueve pinturas,​ entre las que figuran algunos de sus mejores trabajos, como La bouteille d'anis (La botella de anís) (1914), Portrait de Madame Josette Gris (Retrato de Madame Josette Gris) (1916) o la citada La guitarra ante el mar (1925).

 La representación de Picasso en el museo se centra en los años 30, ya que aunque la colección del artista se ha reforzado gradualmente con varias adquisiciones, la presencia de trabajos de otros periodos sigue siendo limitada. La obra más temprana de este artista que conserva el Reina Sofía es la Mujer en azul, de 1901, perteneciente a la denominada «Etapa azul».​ Le siguen dos pinturas del Cubismo analítico (El frutero, 1910, y Los pájaros muertos, 1912), otras surrealistas, varias de su estilo expresionista de la década de 1930 y las hay también de sus últimos años (tres grandes lienzos sobre el tema El pintor y la modelo, de 1963). La colección consta de un total de 292 obras, que incluyen 29 pinturas,​ y cuatro de sus principales esculturas: Tête de femme (Fernande) (Cabeza de mujer [Fernande]), considerada la primera escultura cubista,​ Femme au jardin (Mujer en el jardín), La femme au vase (La dama oferente) y L'homme au mouton (El hombre del cordero), además de dibujos y estampas. Entre estas últimas destacan Sueño y mentira de Franco y La Minotauromaquia. Sin embargo, no cuenta con ninguna representación de su importante labor en el campo de la cerámica.

Junto con Gris, Picasso y Dalí, sobresale el fondo de Joan Miró. Inicialmente estuvo integrado casi en su totalidad por las obras entregadas en 1985 en dación como pago del impuesto de sucesiones por su viuda, Pilar Juncosa, y el resto de sus herederos: 24 pinturas y 203 grabados. ​ Casi todas las pinturas estaban datadas entre los años 50 y 1983, pero posteriormente, mediante compras, fueron ingresando también trabajos de su primera época, en torno a los años 20. De las numerosas obras de este artista que conserva el museo, entre las que figuran cincuenta y cinco pinturas, ​ destacan La casa de la palmera (1918), Femme et chien devant la lune (Mujer y perro delante de la luna) (1936), o Le sourire des ailes flamboyantes (La sonrisa de alas flameantes) (1953). En el patio central se exhibe una de sus esculturas, Oiseau lunaire (Pájaro lunar) (1966).

Dario Argento och Italiens gula film

Ljudet från baren blir mer och mer avlägset när den blinda mannen leds ut av sin hund genom den tysta gatan. Goblins olycksbådande toner börjar sakta spelas upp under scenen. Torget står avskalat från detaljer förutom två pjäser till byggnader, likt en teaterscen. Något skrämmer hunden. Skuggor flyter över fasaderna och mannen skriker ”who’s there!”. Musiken byts till frenetiskt trummande med klagande rop som från en ritual. Plötsligt hoppar hunden upp och biter sönder mannens hals.

Vi befinner oss under 70-talet. En turbulent tid av osäkerhet, vilket bidrog till en del mörkare teman på den silvriga duken. Det var dessutom skräckens årtionde.

Scenen ovan är en beskrivning av Dario Argentos film Suspiria. Hans kändaste verk från 1977. Personligen är Deep Red (Profundo Russo) en favorit – även en inspiration till Halloween av John Carpenter.

Sanningen bakom Deep Red gömmer sig i väggarna...

Argento själv föddes 1940 och hans pappa var filmproducent. Han var en av författarna bakom spaghettiwesternfilmen Harmonica – En Hämnare av Sergio Leone. 1970 kom regidebuten – Bird with the Crystal Plummage. Och början på hans karriär var i gång som en av italiens största skräckregissörer, inom subgenren giallo.

Giallo betyder gul och härstammar från deckar/skräck kiosklitteraturer med gula omslag. Grunden är ett mordmysterium. Oftast med en mörkare tvist i sitt utförande – mordsvittnet som är instängd mellan två glasväggar i Plummage. Sedan är giallo ofta en genre som inte är rädd att provocera - pedofili och barnmord i Dont Torture a Duckling. Det visuella och konstnärliga är en av nyckelkomponenterna till att bli en minnesvärd giallo. Blood and Black Lace har ett nästan sagolikt vackert hus med glänsande färger under den regniga stormen i filmens öppningsscen.

Men visst är det lustigt att jag presenterar scenen ur Suspiria i ett inlägg om just giallo? Suspiria räknas inte som en giallo för den har riktigt övernaturliga element. I stället tillhör den som första film i en serie han gjorde som kallas Mother of Tears, om tre häxor som påverkar världen i olika sätt. En annan Argento klassiker är Phenomena, en av Jennifer Connollys första filmer. Hon bär övernaturliga förmågor att tala med insikter. Men mördaren är en vanlig, svinig människa med försmak för att använda spjut. Personligen räknar jag den till genren giallo för fokuset är inte det övernaturliga elementet, som fallet är i Suspiria.

Suspiria - en mörk saga

Argento är en av de mest lyckade kreatörer inom just giallo, tillsammans med Mario Bava, hans son Lamberto Bava, Lucio Fulci och Sergio Martino. Det går inte att nämna Dario utan att även nämna hans dotter, som minst sagt haft en beskymmersam relation till sin far. Asia Argento säger i en artikel från ScreenDaily:

“I don’t know. I forgot. It’s too long ago. He stopped being a father when I was nine. Then he just became the director.”

Hon medverkar däremot i Dark Glasses, Dario Argentos senaste film.

Personligen tror jag Argento var lite svår att umgås med.

Det är tydligt att Dario Argento tyvärr tappat sin ikoniska stämpel. Hans rykte på den senare tiden har inte varit det bästa. Fast vad kan man förvänta sig av en 82 åring? Är ni nyfikna på att se honom som skådespelare kan ni se Climax av Gaspar Noe från 2018.
