Yugoslavian design at it’s best

TOPER brand became most famous in the 1980s, when they began to produce sport fashion for Olympic teams from Yugoslavia, Germany, Austria, Greece, Argentina, Hungary, Bolgaria…which took part at the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo 1984. The story about one of the best known and most successful Slovenian Textile companies began in the period after the Second World War. The name Toper is derived from the Slovenian abbreviations for a factory of clothing (Tovarna perila), which was a popular way of naming companies at the time. The first Toper yarn factory dates to 1945. At first Toper produced only nylon shirts under its name. The number of sales amounted to around almost 6 million shirts per year, which is quite impressive. At that time only white shirts were being worn, which were sold under the Toper logo Golden Crown. TOPER became most famous in the 1980s, when they began to produce sport fashion for Olympic teams from Yugoslavia, Germany, Austria, Greece, Argentina, Hungary, Bolgaria...which took part at the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo 1984. Take me to Saturnus, baby!

Fundusmundus presents vivid vibrant vintage tin try made in Yugoslavia by Saturnus company. Saturnus brand was founded in 1921 in Yugoslavia. The first Saturnus tin boxes were already more than simply primary packaging for diverse food, cosmetic, chemical and other products. Their diverse shapes and lively graphical image directly addressed the consumer. Form and other visible characteristics were important with kitchen products as well as toys, additional products and bicycle equipment. Several dozen Yugoslavian Oskars for packaging prove that Saturnus dedicated a lot of attention to packaging design.
