back in 2022, I did a fun lil drawing based off an ask that @naffeclipse got regarding Sleuth Jester's Eclipse taking In Deep Dream's Y/N, and getting the angry mer in return. and I still get notes on that piece today! so as a lil gesture of love to the fandom that still passes around art they enjoy - the clash of the Eclipses, over 2 years later

Sleuth Jesters and In Deep Dreams are both written by Naff, with mafia Eclipse stemming from @/sunnys-aesthetic's Detective AU.

A Lucky Charm

Sailors tend to be superstitious, and sailors of the stars are no different. It’s tradition to bring a good luck charm with them when they go on a long voyage for safety. 

Unfortunately, that means me.

Orca Eclipse from @naffeclipse Apex Polarity!

This one was a long time coming and definitely something I meant to do earlier, but here we go now! I am not okay for this man - I adore him WAY too much. If you all haven't checked the story out yet (and this marvelous beast of a mer) I implore you to! It's wonderfully written, and the characterization is a masterpiece.

Thanks for sharing such a wonderful story, Naff! This man lives on in my heart in ways that shouldn't be.

because of my exams i'm getting a little burnout but i still wanted to post these along with all the doodles i made of them ewe

also some infos:

they are based on fancy goldfishes (the chonky ones), betta fishes and plecos respectively, but they are still their own species so they aren't really biologically accurate to those species lol

so like, Moon and Eclipse are the only ones with teeth, Sun has something similar to a beak, and a radula in there.

sun isn't the smartest one but its ok, he's a sweetheart and always does his best

moon bites everything new he finds as a first instinct

this included eclipse, but the guy is a little weird and didn't really minded it, instead he decided biting was a goof form of greeting and now bites for fun

moon didn't noticed Eclipse was there until he went to check on sun thru their tank tube and got jumpscared by the pleco instead

Eclipse has ringed eyes because his irises are light colored, so his pupils are more visible

he also has a hooked tongue, he needs that to scape algaes off of things, and his jaw can open quite far to make the typical cleaner fish face

the little 'whiskers' on his face are actually little fins, he can wiggle them if he wants

Mers and Death au! pt2.

For some context: Both Female and Male mermaids can have kids, it's just easier for Females to get pregnant then it is for Males to. So hypothetically if Sun and Moon did want to have kids they could.

Eclipse and Astro got really lucky when they mated for the first time and ended up having Sun. Granted they both are now convinced that if they ever mate again their gonna end up having another kid, which they don't want, but they don't live with other adult mermaids so no one can tell them otherwise. lol- And Lucifer ain't telling them cuz they just laughed their ass off when they found out about that. [Lucifer used to do research on mermaids a couple years back before they decided to pursue surfing instead.]

Also Mermaids live in pods similar to Orcas [just not as crazy as orcas] And they tend to separate when they want to find a mate. Both Female and Male mermaids have a specific mating call for Male and Females. So if the mermaid prefers males over females they can call for specifically male mates or if they prefer females over males they can call specifically for female mates. It's all up to their preference!

Most mermaids will court each other for a couple months, around 4-6 months before mating. Than they'll mate, and if it's a male & female, the Female will carry the egg for about 4 months before laying it and leaving it with the male before leaving a couple weeks after laying the egg. If it's two males or two females they'll probably mate once or twice more before separating to go back to their pods.

It's not uncommon for mates to join the other mate's pod to raise their young together, but it's more common for the mates to part ways and find different mates when they want to mate again. Astro and Eclipse weren't in pods when they met so they decided to start their own pod when they figured out they were gonna have a pup* [*baby mermaid]

Most mermaids when they start their own pods tend to adopt in abandoned pups and eggs. When Eclipse and Astro started their pod they had planned to have just the three of them in it, But Sun had other plans. When he was a child he would go explore the coral reef where Eclipse and Astro had made their home and bring back a pup or egg he found. He still does this to this day, just not as often.

That's actually how he met Moon, He found him while exploring and decided to befriend him. Sun didn't bring Moon back with him bc Moon still smelled of his parents [who had died just shortly before Sun met Moon. But Sun didn't know that yet.] And after a couple years [young teenagers] they decided they would be each other's mate. So Sun brought Moon back with him to introduce to his parents! Eclipse welcomed Moon with open arms, and was very excited when he found out they were mates. Astro was a bit skeptic of Moon at first but ended up excepting him into the pod as their son-in-law when he noticed how happy he made Sun.

@naffeclipse since you started talking about Orca!Eclipse with his little siren babies I have not been able to get this out of my head. Orca Siren Eclipse shows off his little baby Sun and Moon sirens to my Mer Sun and Moon and their little half-mer baby Eclipse.

I imagine both y/ns very apprehensive somewhere out of frame. WtTK!y/n at least would NOT be thrilled about her baby getting dangled in front of Orca!Eclipse like a snack
