well that was my BIG BRAIN moment.

starting around like the 19th century people would take the fabric used to make sacks for shipping dried goods like animal feed and flour, and turn that fabric into clothing

this originated in more rural communities but became more widespread during world war I and especially world war II with rationing and whatnot. basically when companies noticed people wearing their sacks they began printing patterns onto their sacks for this explicit purpose (cuz you know. marketing)

before arriving to Sodor, duncan worked in a factory. you know who else produces dried goods?? factories!!!

around the time he arrived to sodor was also when American rock and roll was really influencing British youth, particularly with the rise of teddy boys and then the rockers (which is from my understanding, greasers but British). So around the time Duncan was heading to Sodor there was already an air of rebellion among the UK's youth

I took particular inspiration from Rockabilly based on its noted influence on British popular culture, which from what I've seen, adopts some more flashy elements to their clothing in contrast to the traditional suit and dress. I was this close to making duncan wear a bowling shirt

the kerchief is also because of this hehe

so in a moment of genius/delusion, i thought. what if while working at the factory, duncan saw the trends of people using their feed sacks as clothing fabric, and stole a bag or two for himself so he could sew on a strip of the fabric onto his work shirts because he's, ya know, mr. rock n roll

yes i did all that just for a stripe of fabric on his chest i am VERY happy with this choice

How law initially sees mako

Doesn't necessarily fit into this category, but everyone who primarily draws either only men or only women finds drawing the other gender difficult. I might be nonbiney but like. humans are one of the least sexually dymorphic animals. You can literally just draw any human with any design and call them any gender. Thatse it.

There was a commission I drew where I chose dark forest green and bright red as the colors because in my opinion that's the most ominous color combination, but people interpreted it as christmas colors fhgsfjhgdsdjfg That was funy.

Trans people are not an ideology, they're a type of person. That's why you can't apply the same logic. It's like saying "autistic people are bigoted because there's autistic incels", it just doesn't make sense.

"being feminine" is absolute bullshit but I don't think everything related to femininity is inherently oppressive. There's men who like using makeup. I think the fact that it is expected of women to put on makeup and wear dresses and etc is oppressive, not makeup and dresses by themselves. Femininity isn't oppressive by itself, it's oppressive when it is enforced. I'd choose to not shave my legs if people didn't see me as dirty for it but I have long hair because I just like it like that, and one day I'll get bored and cut it off. I don't need anyone to save me from my long hair. I'd damn well appreciate it if people didn't give others shit for leg hair but I'm not going to say the concept of shaving is evil.

Most of the trans people I know don't strive to follow gender stereotypes (and some are not even binary trans so what gender stereotypes exactly? Honorary mention to fuck the nonbiney uwu trend). Passing is based on being seen as the corresponding gender and many trans people feel like gender stereotypes are a burden because without the complete "checklist" people won't take them seriously.

If you had a bad experience with transmeds that sucks a lot but they're not representatives of every trans person ever.
