~ mello is someone who enjoys being in control during sex. so when you moan that in this pathetic, trembling voice, pleading with tears pricking the corners of your eyes for him to keep going, it's really such a rush for him. the brief moment of surprise at the unexpected title is quickly swept away by the surge of pride, almost arrogant in its nature. you've fully surrendered yourself to him; your pleasure is in his hands; you've acknowledged his power over your body. he'll probably get rougher in the moment, and later on in future intimate encounters he'll outright make you say it, denying you any release until you do, over and over and over.

near

~ although near does usually prefer it when you both are equals during sex, he can't help the swell of satisfaction in his heart when you call him that. after all, he has an ego like every other man on this list, and near gets something out of being at least somewhat in control, even in your sexual encounters where he does normally prefer not for anyone to be dominant. it's not like he needs to hear you say it every time, but near certainly doesn't mind when you do. besides, it means you like what he's doing and he's making you feel good, which is what he wants most.

-Really shouldn't be involved with you and lives a life way too busy and dangerous to commit to a serious relationship, but can't ignore the chemistry you two have.

-Is weirdly vague about what he does for a living (because he's in the mob) but you're smart enough to figure out early on that it's less than legal, and eventually it becomes an open secret.

-Repeatedly bootycalls you, spends the night, and then disappears for days or weeks. Partially because he's in the mob, partially because he panics every time he starts to feel himself developing serious feelings for you.

-Likes to buy you gifts (especially to apologize for disappearing again) and has even gotten you matching couple's accessories despite his insistence that what you two have is casual. Just don't ask where he got the money for that bracelet from Tiffany's (cough drug ring cough).

-Slowly opens up to you a little about his past as he starts to trust you - losing his parents, growing up in an orphanage, the pressure to be the best in an institution full of brilliant children, and you slowly start to understand why Mello is the way he is.

-Shows rare glimpses of uncharacteristic vulnerability that make you realize he gives way more of a shit than he acts like he does (both about you and in general).

-Let the L word slip one time when you two were having drunk sex. He hoped you wouldn't remember (you did).

-Gets unexpectedly affectionate and cuddly in the afterglow of sex for a few minutes until he comes to his senses and remembers he's not supposed to get too attached to you....even though he definitely is.

-Hesitates the first time you touch his burn scars when you're lying in bed together. He'll never say it out loud, but he's insecure about them. No one else has ever touched them before, but he doesn't pull away. Over time, he actually begins to like it - that you don't hesitate to touch his scars and don't treat them like they're off-putting or repulsive.

-Feels really shitty for hurting you whenever he disappears and knows you deserve better, tells you you deserve better, but can't seem to stop coming back to you no matter how hard he tries because you might be the only uncorrupted thing in his life and one of the only people he's ever felt safe letting his guard down around.

The first time he ‘dies’ he wakes up on the morning of and figures it’s just some weird dream he had, but everything is going the way his dream did? Eventually he figures it out after he ‘dies’ again and thinks oh let me try it this way and dies again. He keeps trying different ways to get a different, a better, outcome. He drives different routes, he omits the smoke gun, he uses the smoke gun more, he drives through the guards, he’s faster, more risky, just determined not to die this time. Then he does it! He’s not sure what happened this time but somehow he lives. He phones Mello thinking that it’s going well on his end because he never had contact with him when he was getting chased, but for some reason Mello doesn’t answer his call. He hears on the radio that Mello and Kiyomi Tadaka are dead, they died in a fire. Matt is just like wtf at this point because that wasn’t supposed to happen. It’ll be okay because when he goes to sleep the next time he opens his eyes, the day will just start over. He’ll just think of a new plan to save himself AND Mello, it’ll be fine, he saved himself right? Why couldn’t he save Mello as well? Matt falls asleep and when he opens his eyes he’s not laying down in that crappy apartment he hated so much. He wakes up in his car, where he fell asleep last night, checks his phone and sees it’s a new day. A brand new day and he’s alive, but Mello is dead and he can’t go back and change the outcome this time.

Do you think in the N2 Squad, Jamil will just randomly get a burst of confidence and flirt with Leona and Vil, just for them to turn it around on him and he then gets so flustered he enters Caterpillar Mode™️ (pulls his hood over his face) for a solid hour?

I kept this one in my asks for a long time coz, while I thought it was a good ask and wanted to draw something for it, I am also plagued with the terrible curse of being both aromantic and autistic and struggling a lot with the very concept of ~*flirting*~

So first, gonna thank @aria-faye and @the-fab-fox for their insights and having the patience to explain to me the big strokes of flirting.

And now, I'm gonna quote aria-faye word for word cause he explained Jamil's flirting perfectly well in my opinion :

"I feel like Jamil is just... bad at flirting. He can tease and joke and all that, but when he's doing it with the intention of flirtation, i feel like he stumbles. His version of intentional flirting would probably be just... being overly straightforward. Saying what he's thinking for once."

"I feel like Jamil isn't very charismatic when it comes to flirting, so he isn't saying it [compliments] in any sort of way. Just pointing out a fact, which, to him, is flirting. Because it's not something he'd normally say aloud."

"Here's the thing: I think if they played the flirting game, and if Jamil said something intentionally over-the-top, teasing flirtatious, they [Leona and Vil] would match his energy and do it right back. It might surprise him at first, but if he's the one initiating, he wouldn't do it unless he knew exactly what he was doing. Flirting for real is kind of fake. A teasing dance you do to get to a more intimate set of behaviors. And Jamil is great at this kind of thing. There are a thousand ways to make him blushy if he's not initiating. But if he's initiating, that implies a level of confidence, so the options for making him blushy circles right back around to honesty."

"Leona and Vil flirt by antagonising each other, so it might take them a second to realize that whenever Jamil drops an Honesty Bomb on them like this and speaks plainly, he's flirting. But once they know, Jamil will never know peace again, because they turn it right back on him and compliment him honestly until he's curled up and hiding in his hood and begging them to stop."

I draw a scene from the fanfiction "A boy who lacked manners", in which Near falls asleep after talking on phone for 4 hours with Mello.

I especially love how the author wrote about Near here (the lucky bastard). This is how I imagine Near's room would look like if he was a highschool student.

I wanted to give up a lot of times when drawing this picture for several reasons. I am glad I've finally get it done.
