the funniest part about Love Never Dies is the implications it has for the canon of the ALW Phantom of the Opera. because what do you mean Raoul turned into an alcoholic gambler, lost all of his money, found out Gustave wasn't his son, watched Meg shoot Christine, and STILL had the funds and energy to go back to the Paris Opera House to purchase that silly monkey like 12 years later.

hello! I've requested from you before because I'm just obsessed with the way you write for Erik... so I'm on my knees as I come to you with another ask...

what do you think would happen if Erik had a partner who (usually pretty level-headed and composed) randomly asks him about his past during a calm evening together, only to start crying when he's done explaining? how would he react if she says that she wishes she could have been there to at least make him feel even a little less alone?

maybe he's just composing as usual when she asks and he's completely taken aback by her reaction because no one has every seemed to care about him so deeply?

I adore his character and he just needs some love.... <3 thank you for all your beautiful writing, they always make my day!!

The candlelight flickered over the aged sheet music, casting restless shadows across the grand piano where Erik sat, his gloved hands poised over the keys. The night was quiet, save for the distant lapping of the lake against the shore of his underground world. You sat nearby, curled in a chair, watching him in comfortable silence.

It had been an evening of rare peace—no operatic disasters, no intrusive thoughts of the outside world. Just the two of you, wrapped in the stillness. It was in that moment of quietude that the thought slipped past your lips before you could stop it.

“Erik,” you murmured, voice soft but certain, “will you tell me about your past?”

His fingers stilled over the ivory keys. He did not look at you, but you saw the tension creep into his shoulders, the way his breath slowed and measured itself before he spoke.

“There is nothing in it worth telling,” he replied at first, though you both knew that wasn’t true. You didn’t push. You never did. That was why, after a pause, he began to speak.

And so, he told you.

Of a mother who never looked at him, whose rejection was colder than the iron bars of the cage he was forced into. Of the jeers and the cruel hands of men who saw him as less than human, as something to be displayed. Of loneliness so deep and vast that even his music, the only thing he had, could not fill it.

He spoke evenly, factually, as if reciting a dull history lesson rather than his own suffering.

You had expected the pain in his words, the darkness of it. What you had not expected was the way it hit you.

Your throat closed. Your chest ached. And before you could stop yourself, hot tears welled in your eyes and spilled over.

Erik had turned back to the piano, but when the first quiet sob broke from your throat, his head snapped up. His golden eyes, sharp and piercing even in the dim candlelight, widened in alarm. He had seen many reactions to his story—fear, disgust, cold pity—but never this.

Never tears shed for him.

He rose from the bench as if unsure what to do, hands twitching at his sides. “Why are you crying?” he asked, his voice thin, bewildered. “Did I say something to upset you?”

You shook your head, wiping at your face. “No, I just—” Your voice broke, and you took a shaky breath. “I wish I had been there. I wish I could have done something. Just—anything to make you feel even a little less alone.”

His breath hitched, as if you had struck him with your words. He took a step back, his entire body rigid with something unnameable. No one had ever said such a thing to him. No one had ever wished to be by his side in his suffering.

“I—” he started, but his voice failed him. He pressed a hand over his mouth, as if physically stopping whatever might come next. His other hand clutched at his coat, fingers curling into the fabric as if to ground himself. “You…you are crying for me?”

You nodded, sniffling. “Of course, I am.”

The silence stretched between you, thick with something fragile. Erik did not move for a long time, but his eyes never left you. There was something wounded in them, something raw, as though your sorrow had stripped away his carefully constructed walls.

And then, hesitantly—so hesitantly—he moved closer, sinking to his knees before you. A gloved hand reached out, hovering near your cheek, uncertain. You leaned into it, and he exhaled shakily, as if that small gesture had undone him completely.

“I do not deserve your tears,” he whispered. “No one ever has.”

“That’s not for you to decide.” You reached up, placing your hand over his. “You are not alone anymore, Erik.”

He stared at you, wide-eyed and trembling, as if he couldn’t quite believe what he was hearing. And then, with an exhale that sounded dangerously close to a sob, he pressed his forehead against your lap, his fingers curling into your dress.

You ran your fingers through his hair, soft and slow. He let you.

For the first time in his life, Erik did not feel alone.

he sits you down later that day and asks questions and he’s not outwardly supportive but also not outwardly bad? he just doesn’t really care

occasionally you’ll just find random masc clothes in your room or laundry after that

he’s not. the greatest but he definitely tries his best with the pronouns and gets livid if someone messes them up, even by accident

(only he’s allowed to mix them up and he apologizes and uses the correct ones after)

outwardly more supportive than dracula, already kind of gets it and doesn’t ask as many questions unless he feels they’re necessary

he’s like “wait here” after a couple of moments and comes back a bit later holding some of his old clothes he doesn’t wear anymore and lets you keep them

he’s another one who would kind of struggle with the pronouns but for the most part he gets the hang of it pretty quickly

if he or someone else uses the wrong pronouns he’s very polite with correcting himself or someone else

wouldn’t yell but would definitely have a TALK with anyone who still uses she/her

he’d be very fascinated and have a lot of questions

he’s kind of asking them repeatedly but it’s just because he wants to understand. it’s also because he’s like entranced and wants to know more

also he’s a surgeon. he could give you free top/bottom surgery but also maybe you shouldn’t trust him that much considering his earlier experiments

for some reason his brain is used to it instantly and he always uses the correct masc pronouns for you and it someone uses the wrong ones he emphasizes the pronoun until they get it

overall he could genuinely care less, the concept of ftm had him interested and that’s the only thing he cared about (getting information)

would probably like. tailor some of your clothes himself or pay someone to do it so they’re more masculine presenting or would straight up just get you new ones

he’s cares less than everyone else. realistically he’d misgender you and then go on like nothing happened but the next time he uses a pronoun it’s likely masculine. he kind of just accidentally switches between them

he’s trying (he’s not)

he doesn’t treat you any different because he hates everyone equally, so he’ll still torment you and then drag you off to go rob a stand or something

he doesn’t have the best memory for the right pronoun, but he’s not transphobic. he just doesn’t care

would also let you borrow a lot of his clothes and gives you money to buy new ones, but will not be getting you them himself (unless he asked madame giry) because he does not leave that cellar

over all very supportive!! is actually very sweet about the whole thing (considering if you trust him enough to come out as ftm ur probably close w him)
