This week's spotlight is on Beth Fuller and her comic Witching Hour. Beth is an illustrator and concept artist from Dublin, Ireland. She’s considering putting down the stylus pen and heading off into the wilderness to live as a hermit, but likes hot showers and horror films just enough to keep her in civilisation. For now, anyway. "Witching Hour��is about a young girl sent on a mysterious journey by her father. Two pale trees with intertwined branches form a strange gate at the edge of 12-year-old Esio’s town, and beyond it lies an old, ruined land. Over their pints, as dusk falls, the villagers say it’s where lost things - and people - eventually end up. She’s got sandwiches, an apple, plasters, a bottle of Tipperary Kidz water and a Horrible Histories book in her rucksack and she’s heading off into the unknown, with only a talisman to guide her. There’s no telling who she might meet along the way."

"That’s the initial rundown, anyway. Speaking more subjectively, I wanted to create a setting where two totally different characters - as different from each other as you can get - are forced to work together and end up changing each other’s lives. I really do think you can get on and find common ground with almost anyone, in the right circumstances."

Witching Hour took several years to incubate. "I’d been working on a comic slowly and haltingly since I was 18. There are pages kept deep, deep in my computer with old, badly drawn versions of Esio in a radically different setting, but it never really made sense as a story. I don’t think I made it past page three! Still, the fantasy atmosphere and character of Esio stuck with me over the years. Plus I really like to mix the dull, routine and mundane aspects of everyday life with things that are otherworldly and strange."

"Eventually we had a visual narrative module as part of my degree, and while recalling my old comic pages (I was mulling over it in the shower, which is where I think many of us do our most important thinking) an idea came to me that would form the basis of Witching Hour. Adding this to the embers of my previous project gave me more than enough fuel to sit down and start drawing.

"I have plenty of ideas for what I want to get up to next. I’ll work on a tarot set, keep working on freelance concept art and illustrations, design some tattoos, maybe try my hand at another comic at some stage. As always, feel free to get in touch and let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see from me!"

Beth draws inspiration from many sources: "The landscapes of south-west Ireland. Horror films, foreign language films, fantasy films, anything animated. The writing of Michelle Paver, Neil Gaiman and Ursula LeGuin.

"For me, though, it’s primarily the work of other illustrators that has inspired me the most, and it’s often only through seeing and evaluating lots of different brilliant styles that you can start to discern your own tastes. As a child, the obligatory Ghibli film catalogue. Then the work of Chris Riddell, Max Prentis and Ian McQue were enough inspiration to foster an interest in art school. I went, studied Illustration at DJCAD, and discovered Jake Wyatt, Celia Lowenthal, Juliette Brocal, Linnea Sterte, Jack T. Cole, Evan Cagle, Alphonse Mucha and (of course) Moebius. Seeing their work is like taking the creative spark and making it into a deodorant flamethrower."

Beth's work often centres around fantastical worlds and sweeping landscapes. "I think somehow you always come back to what you know. Sometimes you don’t even notice you have a fascination with something until you start to create and it keeps returning.

"My family and I spent a lot of time around Irish coastlines growing up, especially during the warmer months. Kerry, in the south-west, has mountains that turn brown in winter, then when summer comes are carpeted with a haze of purple heather, not unlike the hills of Scotland. There are crumbling ringforts and monastic ruins on isolated hilltops. I could be in the most beautiful place in the world but still miss the coconut scent of Kerry gorse. The fantasy aspect is fun to play with, and it adds a nice sense of mystery, but fundamentally I think the landscapes I draw are an attempt to capture, and return to, the shores I kicked about on as a kid."

For aspiring comic creators, Beth has this advice: "This is a common one, but I think it’s still worth saying: if you have a story, get it down. You don’t need to consider yourself a comic artist to make a comic. You also don’t need to wait around for the right time, or enough expertise - nobody is going to give you a nametag with ‘comic artist’ on it. If you can draw, and you need to say something, just start drawing boxes and see where it goes. Also, ‘Necropolis’ by Jake Wyatt is really good."

Hmm, Charmed conspiracy theories: the little girl in the flash forward is a cousin, not Mel, and Henry Jr. is adopted specifically bc Wyatt and Chris are the ~only Warren born boys~ for whatever reason. (I hate this one if it's not obvious)

On the flipside, I've seen the idea that Piper was pregnant with Mel during season 8.

I've also seen the Evil Enchantress is an ancestor of the Warren line, which is kinda random lol.

A personal one of mine is that in the unchanged future, Wyatt managed to kill the Cleaners somehow. (Also that the Grand Design got massively fucked up somewhere.) (I also think that Wyatt imprisoned the Angel of Death to stop spirits from moving onto the other side, but that's not a conspiracy theory as much as a headcanon I find interesting. It's also why no one was able to summon spirits, because they were unable to cross over, and why none of them knew what had actually happened with Wyatt as a baby.)

My favorite conspiracy theory, which is another one of my own original ones, is concerning the nature of prophesied witches. It always seemed odd how prophecies are structured in the show, so I think that instead of prophecies being a "hey, this person is gonna do this," it's actually a warning to all of the magical community, regardless of side, that a being capable of breaking the Grand Design is coming. The other half of the theory is obviously that prophesied witches have the power to defy the Grand Design (Phoebe saving Miles, despite him supposed to die, the sisters' stopping Death in s8, forcing the Angel of Destiny to bargain with them instead of just telling the sisters too bad; Wyatt exposing magic (again previous theory) and being virtually unstoppable; Billie and Christy vanquishing an unkillable demon), which is why they're both coveted and feared.

i've definitely seen the Charmed Sons theory before (tho admittedly not with the henry jr twist) and i gotta say..... don't love it. i mean like a large part of this show is about the power of women and yes a lot of it is like pop girlboss women can kick ass feminism which is definitely still a shallow form but to respond to that by simply having men take up the mantle is just....... it's not for me. i love wyatt i love chris but i really do not want the face of the next generation of charmed to be ✨Men✨ you know that's not what the show is about for me. adding the henry jr is adopted ergo wyatt and chris are the only biological men in the entire warren line idk just feels weird!! i like henry being adopted bc i don't think paige is a Let's Have Three Kids kind of gal so i like how she wasn't even really trying for one kid but still ended up with three lol i love the henry jr origin story esp regarding the name where victor's like whoa hey you have another kid and henry's like yeah meet henry jr [joking] and then it became Not A Joke. but idk putting emphasis on the biological sex and especially implying that wyatt and chris are special rare anomalies we should focus on and celebrate... pass. it just feels so old school coded. it feels like the fandom equivalent of those gender reveal parties where the confetti is all pink and the parents are visibly upset about it. idk it's just not for me.

on the flip side i'm personally very pro piper was pregnant with melinda in season 8 i mean hell it was leo's sexiest season who wouldn't wanna ride on that sunkissed mechanic and also. i kinda wish they had confirmed it just so we wouldn't have to deal with the Charmed Sons conspiracy theorists lol. just go watch supernatural. or witches of east end. there are sooooo many shows about two special brothers one with blond hair one with brown who are at odds with each other and also are prophesized and also so important. watch witches of east end! that one's just a genuine recommendation. i think any charmed lover could get into that show and dash + killian are soooo wyatt and chris coded it's like not even funny like is anyone else seeing this. streaming on hulu.

i also like the evil enchantress is a distant relative of the warrens / distant ancestor like clearly she did so many Crimes her powers were stripped from future lives as well yada yada yada it's also just nice to give paige another canonical tie to the bloodline bc i like having her there she Is a warren

as for wyatt + the dark future i think him killing the cleaners would make a lot of sense i also like the concept of him imprisoning the angel of death (if i'm getting really weird with it it could make some killer problematic yaoi. yaio. i don't know how to spell that word i'm sorry. m/m. 👍) i think the dark future is really a free for all when it comes to headcanons bc clearly the future we saw is So Severed from the present canon like clearly to get there Shit Had To Get Weird. i also really like the concept of wyatt being So Powerful that he can fully disrupt the natural cycle. it's like when yen lo did that in enter the demon s4 and the transitional space looked so evil and once he was gone it healed back to it's true state.... wyatt blocking death so strongly that that Wrongness that Distortion bleeds out of the transitional realms into waking life..... yum!

i also really like the conspiracy theory around prophecies because honestly the way the show views them is murky at best because the concept of prophecies and free will are kind of inherently at odds. either It Is Written and You Will defeat the source, lose your sister/your husband/etc etc or Free Will Exists and everything is entirely Your Choice. which is why i felt utopia was a bad arc because why is free will so import for girls whose destiny has been prewritten centuries before they were even born you know? like you were always gonna end up Here where's the free will in that. so i do like the version of just some people just being able to bilk fate operate within their own rules Especially if they don't fully realize they can do that. like with the phoebe/miles thing. that was definitely an unintentional move that had major unforeseen consequences that Clearly is not a thing most people can do

OKAY NO I NEED TO RANT ABOUT THIS PIPER FERTILITY THING

It is SO great that it was a plot beat to begin with. This is a woman who had spent the last four years getting constantly battered and bruised and magical healing couldn't fix everything. It's totally feasible that she could have irreparable damage to her abdomen and by extension her uterus!!! It's also a great way to explain why the Warren line isn't that big (we don't meet a single magical cousin or anything lol) - because the Warren women just can't physically conceive many children.

BUT. But. But with how little importance it actually had in the end, what was the point? Iirc, Piper finds out she may have difficulty conceiving in what, 4x21? After Phoebe already lost her baby? And then at the end of 4x22 the Angel of Death reveals she's pregnant anyway. It had literally NO plot relevance. There was no proper discussion between Piper and Leo about it. It was not brought up again ever. 4x22 has ONE line about Piper not being able to get pregnant because of being a witch and that's it. And in the end it's still yay I get to be a witch AND have a baby. WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE???

Honestly this arc could have been SO good. Introduce it a few episodes earlier! Have it coincide with Phoebe's wedding. Piper is devastated by this news but she ignores it and puts on a happy face for Phoebe, but now she's gone off to be Queen of the Underworld and what's this??? Now she's back but she's still pregnant with the Source's spawn!!! Her little jiu-jitsu sister got pregnant after five minutes but Piper has been trying for months and still nothing.

That line in 4x22 would have had so much more weight. Like it was still meaningful but if we got to actually follow Piper's journey facing infertility up to that?? And her decision to remain a witch could be combined with the acceptance that she doesn't need to have her own children to care for the young witches of the future (see: Tyler)

And then we get the revelation at the end of the season: Piper's pregnant! It's a miracle baby thanks to a millennia old prophecy that is to be fulfilled: the twice-blessed child (though they don't know that yet).

There's way more I could complain about actually. The fact her abdominal scarring was not brought up once during her pregnancy. How Phoebe and Paige never once questioned how Chris was around when it was hard enough for Piper to conceive Wyatt... like I know Holly gave the writers little choice with Piper's second pregnancy but still!

Rant over I think I just have too many Thoughts.

At the moment Chris was at Magic School trying to find a spell to get him and Cassie back while she was at the manor setting up baby stuff for when baby Chris comes home. When Paige comes back she tells Cassie about checking things so she could go with Chris.

"What are you thinking? What are you seeing?" Chris asks as Cassie walk over to him and Leo.

"I don't know or see shit still. I think it's because it's getting close to me being born. I hope." She tells him.

"I'm sure that's why." He kiss the top of her head before going to draw a large triquetra symbol with chalk on the wall.

"I wonder how different the future's gonna be, how much different my life is gonna be." Chris steps back, "You know the parts I wasn't told." He looks at her.

"Well, it seems good from what Cassie hints at. I just want you, both of you, to get home safely. Now remember, if anything seems different, we have another vial of this to get back right away." Leo gives him a potion.

"You worry too much, you know that? I'll be fine." Chris tells him.

"I'm your father. It's my job to worry. Now listen, when you get back there, you gotta take it easy on Wyatt, okay? You can't hold a grudge." Leo tells him.

"Hey, as long as he's not Ruler of All Evil, I'm cool." Chris makes Cassie laugh, "And doesn't still have a thing for Cassie."

"I'm serious. He's gonna be different. Good. He's not gonna remember he wasn't. So if you really want to change the future, you gotta start with a clean slate." Leo tells him.

"Okay. Okay, I get it. How about you? Are you starting with a clean slate?" Chris asks about him and Piper.

"It's complicated. I'm an Elder. I made a commitment."

"So? It's not like you haven't broken the rules before. I'm living proof of that. Chris tells him.

"Yeah. We'll see. Listen, we have enough of this stuff if you want to try a dry run before everybody gets here. What do you think?"

"Yeah. Let's do it." They tell him but it didn't work confusing Leo then he leaves them.

"You okay?" Chris looks at Cassie.

"I have this feeling that things aren't going as planned. What if someone is still after Wyatt? I've been suspicious of Gideon lately." She tells.

"Gideon? No. I'm sure it's nothing still."

Later when it was time to go Piper didn't know Leo was going with the two till they get to where they needed to be. "Sorry. I just wanted to go over the spell one more time, make a few tweaks." Gideon walks in.

"Tweaks? Let me see that." Piper takes the spell from Gideon's hands as Phoebe and Paige orb in.

"Finally. Where have you two been?" Chris asks them.

"Sorry. We were a little, uh held up." Paige tells him.

"But we're here now, so let's get this show on the road, you know? The clock's a-tickin'. Tick-tock, tick-tock." Phoebe says.

"Since when are you in such a hurry to say goodbye?" Piper asks confused.

"Well, since something happened with the thing, and the thing, with the thing. There's a warrant out for Chris's arrest." She explains.

"Yeah. I tried to get Darryl to bury it, but he's not on our side anymore." Paige says.

"Oh, this is bad. If I leave and they can't find me. They're gonna come after you." Chris tells them.

"It's okay. We've been through worse. We'll get through this. We'll figure it out. And if you get back to the future and we're in jail, you just have to bust us out." Phoebe smiles, "You just go back to that beautiful, peaceful world that you helped create." She and Chris hug, "I'm really gonna miss you."

"I'll miss you too." He tell her.

"Aw. Here comes the huggin' part." Paige gives him a hug then Chris hugs Piper.

"Thank you for coming here. I love you." She tells him.

"I love you so much, mom."

"Cassie get you butt over here." Phoebe snaps her fingers so she goes to give her a hug. "I can't wait to meet baby you and enjoy your destine future." She lets go of Cassie so Paige hugs her.

"Come here baby." Piper smiles with her arms open so Cassie gives her a big hug, "I can't wait to watch you and help raise my daughter in law. I'm happy you're part of the family." Piper kisses her cheek.

"Love you." Cassie walks over to Chris and Leo.

"In this place and in this hour, we call upon the ancient power, open the door through time and space." The portal opens. "Create a path to another place." The three go through.

They walk through the portal and see the Evil Charmed Ones and Evil Gideon standing in front of them, "Where are we?" Chris asks holding Cassie's hand.

"I have no idea." Leo tells him. "Follow me." Leo orbs so they orb with him to the bridge.

"Again, where are we?" Chris asks Leo.

"A parallel universe to ours. The complete opposite. Our good is evil and our evil is good. I've seen a snippet of it before when I see things." Cassie explains to him.

"Oh, great."

"Maybe Darryl can help us." Leo suggests so they orb and well things didn't go well making them orb away. "You said opposite so..." Leo thinks. "I know where to go." Leo orbs so they follow him.

"Barbas?" Chris say's surprised.

"Best bet." Leo tells him.

"I know the truth of all your hopes because I can feel your greatest hope inside here, the hope that one day to return home. Oh, and of course, your presence here gives me great hope, the hope that someplace there really is a different kind of world, a world where the greater good, the, uh, the goodness of the heart prevails." He walks past them, putting a hand on Leo's shoulder.

"Is he for real?" Chris asks.

"He must be. Demon of Fear in our world must be the Demon of Hope here. Question is, do you have enough power to send us back?" Leo asks him.

"Oh, alas, no, I do not, not if you were brought here by the Power of Three. But, however, hope springs eternal, so I may be able to persuade the sisters of my world to help us simply by relying on their greatest hope, the hope to reunite with your counterparts, and then, maybe." He waves his hand over Chris' face, "You will be able to return to your time before it's too late as you hope." He begins to touch Chris, but he slaps his hand away.

"Whoa. Don't touch me."

Paige and Phoebe orb in, "Oh, thank god."

"Quickly, orb away. I will deal with them. I've done it before." Good Barbas tells the three.

"No, it's okay. They're the good ones." Leo tells him till the bad ones show up.

The four bicker about not trusting each other while the others just stand there. When they start to fight they take cover since they all think alike. "We don't have time for this. I gotta get back to Piper. We gotta get you home." Leo says.

"When Gideon said something can go wrong with the portal, I don't think he knew how wrong." Chris says.

"You said Gideon?"

"Yeah, he did why?" Cassie asks good Barbas.

"Because just maybe he did know how wrong it could go." He tells them making Cassie know her feeling was bad.

"I knew it! I told you my feeling." She smacks Chris's arm.

Good Barbas tells them Gideon is desperately hoping to eliminate Wyatt, "We have to go get Piper." Paige tells them as they stop fighting.

"And Wyatt"

They end up at the manor in to save little evil Wyatt, the four girls help make a portal back to and they go through. "There's my brave little guy. Quick, the portal's closing. We gotta get their men back through." Leo picks up Wyatt.

"I'll get 'em." Chris orbs out.

Cassie helps the girls grab stuff to head to the hospital and outside was completely different and too nice. "Hey, there! How're you doing?" A worker asks.

"Yoo-hoo! Yoo-hoo, ladies! Yoo-hoo! I've been waiting for you."

"Mrs. Noble. Hi. I was just coming out to move the car." Phoebe tells her.

"Oh, I know. You're a busy, busy, busy girl!"

"Yeah, see, it's our sister Piper. She's in labor, and we're all a little crazy." Paige explains.

The Patrol Officer and some neighbors come up to them. "And I won't park there again, I promise." Phoebe says.

"That's right. I know you won't." A patrol officer takes out his gun and shoots Phoebe. She falls back and Paige catches her. "Wrongs must be righted."

"What the hell!" Cassie shouts while Paige yells for help.

"Have a super day!" Mrs. Noble smiles.

"Are you fucking crazy?" Cassie takes a step forward and the officer shoots her in the stomach as well. She looks down and places her hand over it, "Paige..."

"Someone, help! Please, someone?! Leo?!" She yells so he comes out to help carry Phoebe inside while Cassie stubbles in.

"What's wrong? What's taking so long? Cassie is shot too and looks like hell." Paige looks at her.

"Thanks." Cassie groans.

"Okay, so I just sent our evil twins through the portal, although." Chris comes down and sees Leo healing Phoebe, "What happened?" He asks as Phoebe wakes up and gasps.

"Thank god. Now heal Cassie." Paige says so Leo goes over to her but nothing happens.

"Cassie." Chris holds her hand as she rest her head back. "Why isn't she healing, dad?"

"I don't know. It's not working." Leo keeps trying so Cassie pushes his hands away from her.

"It's not working." She tells him.

"Cas," Leo looks at her.

"Go to Piper. She needs you more." She forces a smile through the pain.

"Will someone please tell me what the hell is going on here?" Chris asks loud.

"The neighborhood patrol shot her point blank and nobody so much as blinked an eye. Then Cassie too." Paige says.

"What? Why?"

"Because by getting us all to the evil world, Gideon screwed up the balance, messed up with the grand design." Leo explains.

"Well, if you ask me, the grand design is pretty messed up in the first place." Paige tells them.

"Wait, so are you saying because of what he did, our world is bad now, too?" Phoebe asks.

"No, on the contrary. It's good. Too good. Where every little infraction is a capital offense and everyone just accepts it. That's why no one care they were shot. Phoebe was nothing someone and Cassie cussed." Leo says.

"Oh, so we're starring in a little movie called "Pleasantville"?"

"Okay, how come we weren't affected?" Chris asks.

"Because we must have been crossing over when the shift occurred." Leo explains.

"Well, that must mean Gideon's not affected, either." Paige brings up.

"No, he wouldn't be because he's an Elder."

"How do we know he's not using the situation to his advantage, you know, come after Wyatt again?" Chris asks.

"Because I'm going to find him first." Leo tells him.

"No, you can't hurt him, Leo, not until he shifts the balance back, and you know he knows how to do that." Phoebe tells him.

"Oh, my god. We totally forgot about Piper. We have to get to the hospital." Paige remembers.

"Who's going to watch Wyatt?" Leo asks.

"I will. Look, I didn't come all the way from the future just to lose him now, all right? Plus Cassie can't do anything bleeding out." Chris speaks up.

"They should take her to the hospital." Leo looks at her, "I can't heal you."

"I'm not going out there again. If you can't heal me then this is supposed to happen. Just go." Cassie says with her eyes closed.

"Be careful and don't move around to much. You're gonna be okay." Phoebe tells her and her and Paige leave.

"Cas," Chris says her name.

"Don't worry about me." She tells him.

"You're dying and you're telling me not to worry about you?" He raises his voice.

"We came back for Wyatt and you will go scry in the attic so we can keep Wyatt safe. If I die it doesn't matter because I'm still going to be born." She tells him so he goes upstairs while she keep in eye on Wyatt.

Leo orbs in and comes over trying to heal her again but nothing still happens making him annoyed, "Chris is in the attic scrying." She lets him know so he takes Wyatt with him while she leans back closing my eyes.

After some time Cassie hear Paige coming downstairs, "Seeing you for the first time, burping you, picking out a name?"

"I already have a name." Chris tells her.

"Oh, gosh. You do, don't you?" She gasps, "Well, now would be the perfect time to change." She tells him.

"They're under a spell." Leo puts Wyatt in the playpen.

"Oh, great. Perfect timing." Cassie give a thumbs up.

"Okay. We need to snap them out of this fast." Chris tells Leo.

"Piper must have cast a spell. She's the only one who could do this to them." Leo tells him.

"Why would she do that? She wouldn't unless..." Cassie speak up.

"Gideon wanted her to, to distract them like he did before, so he can go after Wyatt." Leo adds.

The girls laugh at Gideon wanting to kill Wyatt and they look at Cassie on the way to the door as the bell rings, "You did something bad didn't you? Guess you learn your lesson." Paige smiles.

Cassie looks at Leo as Chris tries to go stop them, "Rude." Darryl shows up saying he needed to take Chris so Chris telekinetically throws Darryl out the door.

"I was thinkin' if Gideon did get to Piper, maybe he left a trail I could follow." Leo says so he leaves.

Cassie starts to cough a little which brings up blood making Chris rush over, "Don't you dare leave me." He puts pressure on her wound making her cry out in pain.

"I'll see you soon." She gives him a smile.

"No, we leave together in a different way not like this. Please." Chris tears up.

"I love you." She closes her eyes and feels the tears run down her cheeks as her breathing slows down to a stop.

it's interesting how they repeat a few times in the first season that magic is passed to women in the family--i wonder if that was a deliberate retcon or what, because obviously wyatt and chris have magic, and we do meet other male witches early, like the psychokinetic they save later on in the first season who got his powers from his mom and presumably would be able to have witch kids himself.

I love the community aspect of fic writing so if you take the time to leave me a comment, I love to engage. I especially love it when commenters ask questions and look for discussion.

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? probably one of the old Prequel Star Wars Fics I wrote way back in the day.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Right now, it's a tie between You're the Lighting of the Blaze and Bright Star

8. Do you get hate on fics? Not on my fics directly but I have gotten some rancid hate in my inbox re: Abby (And then that escalated to telling me to end myself so). This is why I now have anons turned off. Sorry guys.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I do write smut! I'm not sure what it means by 'what kind'? I've done a few solo smut-shots, and Maiden will have a few explicit scenes when this arc is completed. I'm definitely someone who loves Plot with a side of Porn, and as long as the smut flows well and isn't overly repetitive, I'm here for it.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I have written a crossover! I had a mini-series of Whedon-verse/Supernatural called It Must Be Tuesday back on LiveJournal. Sam and Dean meet River Tam in a bar and the apocalypse happen. Dean and Buffy hooked up. I was acutally very proud of that LOL

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not stolen but I did have some concepts lifted from a Once Upon a Time fic

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Not that I'm aware of!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes! Soulmates Never Die was co-written with a friend at the time (we've lost touch since then), and then when I was in the Charmed fandom, I adopted out an abandoned fic of mine and was the beta/co-writer on a big future Fic series with Wyatt, Chris, and Chris' friends. Those were some fantastic stories.

14. What’s your all-time favourite ship? Oh man. I really love me Jacelaena and Helaemond still has a soft place in my heart (but the trajectory of a lot of the fics has just been... a turn off). Harry/Luna will always be warm and fuzzy for me (I used to be the ship captain back in the Fiction Alley days). Buffy/Angel was my first real Fandom OTP.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? Hmmm... I don't have anything right now that fits that. I did have Isabelle Martin's Life is Totally Over which was a Derek/Lydia future Kid fic that I was actually enjoying but the fandom was such an utter turn off by that point.

16. What are your writing strengths? God fuck if I know. I think I'm really good at tying things together/call backs and really emphasizing those themes. I like to think I'm thoughtful at cause/effect of character action and consequences. 

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I feel like my descriptions are lacking and I get lost in the weeds. I struggle with finding the stakes in a story. Conflict is difficult. 

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? me crying with dote on doing some appropriately translated high valyrian for Maiden instead of just copy/pasting from one of the online translators. Only very, very, VERY few people will know that they're grammatically correct and honoring the original development of HV, but it was important to ME.

19. First fandom you wrote for? Star Wars back in the late 90s.

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written? Maiden obviously holds my heart and soul, and it's always going to be everything for me, but I'm actually incredibly proud of Fight For Me (If It's Not Too Late). It was a two parter, and I wrote it in the span of a week? Maybe two weeks? and it was the last thing I wrote for a very long time.

Pairing: Wyatt Halliwell ? Sebastian Johnston (half-manticore baby)

Trudging through the empty cavern, Wyatt kept glancing over to Sebastian uncertainly. His expression was uncharacteristically steely, normal jovial mood absent. Prior to their run-in with the demon, Wyatt had been the same way, intent on finding his siblings and cousins. He still was focused on finding them, but felt his attention split as they walked between worry for them and replaying the demon's words.

"Poor demon," she cooed, dodging the potion Wyatt threw. Darting into Sebastian's face, she smiled maliciously as she said, "Blonde of hair, fair of face, never will-"

She slammed into the wall as Wyatt snarled wordlessly, trying to get to Sebastian's side as the half-manticore shook off the daze that her spell had left them with. Sebastian opened his mouth, eyes narrowed, but the demon beat them to it.

Throwing her head back to let her hair fall back, she grinned as she threw out both hands. Half a second too late, Wyatt was caught in the blast as she telekinetically threw everything in her past. He lost sight of Sebastian as the demon's workstation flipped and-

Oh, wow, the Underworld really had tall caverns actually. Wheezing for breath for a minute, Wyatt heard the demon start her little rhyme over again absently as he tried to convince his lungs to take in a breath. That was good, because she wouldn't recite her weird... prophecy? spell? whatever over a corpse. Probably. You never could tell with demons.

Also there was no way that Sebastian, who came right behind Chris and Penny as the most likely Warren kid to fight demons by themselves - despite not even being, y'know, a Warren - was killed by one telekinetic blast. Chris did worse, and didn't that thought send a pang of worry about his younger brother through his chest.

Or, actually, that might be that one of the potions on the demon's workspace was apparently acidic in nature, and Wyatt's hand was burning a little now. Fuck.

Bracing himself, Wyatt sucked in a breath and pushed the table back and sat up. The demon was on top of Sebastian, one hand cupping his face as she finished her rhyme, "-of the Charmed One's embrace. Unrequited love is such a pain, little demon, let me spare you of it."

"Get away from hIM," Wyatt roared, throwing hands out, magic distorting his voice in the last minute. At his shout, both Sebastian and the demon's heads snapped over to look at him. Sebastian's eyes went wide, and he bucked his hips enough to startle the demon. Just as the energy blast was about to engulf them, Sebastian shimmered away, unfortunately taking the demon with him. The blast slammed into the wall, destroying the entire shelf of potions lining it.

Wyatt felt more than heard Sebastian reappear, spinning on his heel just as Sebastian came into view. Sending the demon sprawling onto the ground, Sebastian rolled to one side, scrambling onto his feet as the demon rose with a screech.

"Wyatt!" Sebastian pointed at the remains of the demon's knife collection scattered on the ground opposite of them, and Wyatt didn't hesitate. As the demon raised her arms, Wyatt threw out his arm and the demon's destroyed armory went flying at her.

"Well, that seems like karma," Sebastian commented, breathless, as the two watched the demon burst into flames. Seeing as the entire debacle started when the demon sent her own armory at them, Wyatt couldn't help but agree.

Blonde of hair. Fair of face. Something about a Charmed One. Unrequited love. Years of looks between family members and gently teasing comments that Wyatt never quite got.

Sebastian had been one of Wyatt's best friends since he was a baby. Whenever Sebastian spent time with someone, they were almost always guaranteed a fun time that they needed. Beyond just genuine joy, Sebastian would always have his friends' backs. He was Chris and Penny's most consistent backup in a demon fight. He was the person that Melinda would call when she wanted a friend to party with or play video games against. He was the person that would go after Parker when she got a too desperate need to prove herself as a witch. Even if they hadn't been friends themselves, Sebastian's love and care for Wyatt's family would have more then earned Wyatt's love. Despite his heritage, Sebastian was a compassionate person who loved deeply, and he was one of Wyatt's best friends.

But as the pit continued forming in his stomach, Wyatt knew that he didn't love him as more than a friend.

There was no guarantee that the demon had been telling the truth. But Sebastian's expression had been painfully exposed.

Demons were cruel, and it would be so characteristic of a demon to throw that in Sebastian's face right in front of the person he loved.

The thought kept taunting Wyatt, and he knew he needed to resolve it somehow. They were still tracking his siblings and cousins, and whoever managed to subdue multiple Warrens was sure to be dangerous. Being distracted was dangerous, but Wyatt couldn't bring it up to Sebastian and risk hurting him right-

"Dude," Sebastian said, and Wyatt stopped his anxious tirade of thoughts as Sebastian snapped in front of his face.

Blinking, Wyatt looked between the fingers in front of his eyes to Sebastian's face. He was still tired, still worried, but there was a familiar look of bemusement in his eyes as he looked at Wyatt. One hand was on his bicep, a light grip keeping him still, as he dropped his other hand.

"You back with me?" Sebastian asked.

Wyatt nodded mutely.

"What's wrong?" he asked. "You spaced out for like. Five whole minutes. None of those demon's potions did anything to you, right?"

Wyatt shook his head. Sebastian opened his mouth to say something else, but Wyatt blurted out, "Blonde of hair, fair of face."

Sebastian's mouth snapped shut, as his gaze became unreadable. After a few moments of uncomfortable silence as Wyatt struggled to find words, Sebastian tilted his head and asked, "And? Is there a problem with that?"

His voice was guarded, but not hostile. Wyatt nearly tripped over his words as he frantically shook his head. "No! Just I don't know if-"

Sebastian's shoulders dropped an inch as his eyes softened. "Wyatt, I'm an adult. I don't need-"

"I'm sorry," Wyatt interrupted, guilt heavy in his stomach. He knew, logically at least, that he wasn't obligated to return feelings, but Wyatt never enjoyed hurting people, and to hurt one of his best friends was excruciating. "If I could, I would."

Wyatt winced at his words, because it wasn't as if Sebastian was unlovable, just that Wyatt didn't-

"No," Sebastian nearly snarled. Wyatt started, and Sebastian nearly looked as startled as Wyatt did. Still, he continued, "I don't need more than friendship, Wyatt. That's enough for me. As long as-"

You're happy, Wyatt mentally finished. Or you find someone. Some kind response that highlighted why Sebastian was great and why Wyatt felt awful.

"-she's happy and safe, I'll be okay."

Wait, what?

"But we need to get going to find them, because the longer we wait-" Sebastian was still talking as he turned to continue, but Wyatt was still stuck on the "she" part.

Had the demon actually... specified Wyatt? Thinking back, there was no actual guarantee that it had been Wyatt the demon was talking about. Blonde of hair, fair of face, and something about a Charmed One? Yes, that was Wyatt. It was also Melinda and Peyton. And sometimes Penny, but seeing as she was a lesbian and Sebastian knew that, Wyatt thought it safe to assume that Sebastian would have had plenty of time to get over it if it had been Penny.

Oh, boy.

Face burning, Wyatt interrupted, "She?"

Sebastian turned back around, voice fading as he took in whatever expression Wyatt had. They were both silent for a minute before Sebastian's lips quirked up. He couldn't control the grin as he asked, laughter in his voice, "Wyatt, did you think-"

"Blonde of hair, fair of face!" Wyatt protested immediately, feeling just a little stupid.

Sebastian outright began laughing as he finished, "Never will feel the daughter of a Charmed One embrace. Unless you have something to tell me, which I completely support-"

Wyatt pushed past Sebastian as he kept laughing, face burning but heart lighter than it was.

As he continued on his path, Wyatt heard Sebastian fall in step just behind him, still laughing. They still had demons to vanquish and family to save, but at least he wasn't responsible for breaking one of his best friend's heart.

Wait. Did that mean Sebastian liked his sister?

In film, if I had just gone into that, I don’t know how you get out of that in your own head. Because yeah, there is a leg up when you’re the son of actors. There just is. Agents are gonna want to take a meeting with you because you’re a good, hedged bet. That’s gonna happen. And there’s a bigger microscope on you, but all you have to do is come, perform, and be yourself. I learned how to be myself when I was playing hockey, so after I played hockey it was easier to be myself because I was like, “Well, if this doesn’t work my way, it’s not gonna work at all.” I have a wife [Meredith Hagner] where it wasn’t like that at all. Nobody in her family was an actor and she’s become a super successful actress completely on her own. I’m married to a person who, when she’d heard that they were filming One Tree Hill in North Carolina, drove six hours, printed out a resume, and stood outside the caution tape to get an extra part instead of just getting an audition, and she’s made a career for herself. It’s a very different path, no doubt, and a lot harder, no doubt. You realize the opportunity you have. And I always thought I could be pretty good at it, so why not?

I always put it in this context, for me: When I went to a Washington Capitals rookie camp when I was 17, I was a good goalie. I wasn’t going to get drafted at 17, but it was a good track and I was on the radar. I get invited to this rookie camp and all these great NHL-caliber players were there, and you had all these questions about whether you’re good enough to be there. You have all these self-doubts, like, “Wow, Alexander Ovechkin was drafted here.” There was a guy named Chris Bourque, who was the son of hockey legend Ray Bourque. Chris was about five-foot-eight, strong, unbelievably talented, but I noticed that when Chris walked into the locker room, he owned the locker room — and not in an arrogant way, just in a he’s-grown-up-in-this-locker-room way. He had no fear or self-doubt. Barry Bonds. Ken Griffey Jr. Patrick Mahomes. You can’t make this argument in sports because it’s all numbers-based, and that’s why I liked sports, but with Chris, I remember that I grew up seeing cameras everywhere, being on the lot. None of those things bothered me and it felt like home. It was second nature and all very familiar, so when I got in front of the camera, I didn’t have that anxiety. You’re gonna have a leg up in that process. Now, what you do with it from there is up to you.

melinda warren meeting all of the CO's children?

ooh okay this is tricky because if we're here like yippee we're wiccaning someone like yayyy this is chill or We Need The Origin Of Our Bloodline Here Stat. personally, i think for wyatt, maybe also chris, lil bit for melinda/pj/kat/tam but ehh. i think melinda warren is kind of like that really cool aunt. like she's only ever over for wiccanings so they only get to chat on special occasions idk maybe when the veil is thin on all hallow's eve the girls summon melinda to help teach them the olde ways or whatever so like. for wyatt at the very least melinda is always a welcome presence and a big hug, she's like the family member you look forward to catching up with at the gathering.

melinda and chris first meeting would actually go crazy if it was the dark future and it was something to do with the bloodline idk chris has to go back and melinda is overcome by how much he kind of is what she wants prudence to grow up to be a smart, capable witch, discreet, but not cowardly, no, so brave that you would risk everything to save the ones you love. and i think chris having piper died when he was still pretty young to get an ancestor's I Am Proud Of You And I'm So Glad Our Lineage Culminated In You would fully rewire his brain. he would come back a different man.

melindaH i think it would be super cute if she accidentally summoned melindaW without knowing and spent the day getthing close to this new girl who transferred in from community college in salem (wow! so cool!) blah blah blah and it's revealed at the end it's actually melinda warren!

cupitches would be the narrative where we confirm that Matthew The Warlock is indeed prudence's father and that is why the warren line has always had their flirtations with the dark side! we could in fact confirm that maybe matthew did love her but one of them broke some sacred rule some magical law causing a backfire on someone's spell or something and it reverted matthew to and Evil Warlock... he did it because melinda had a premonition of herself burning at the stake... so he did some ancient dangerous magic to make him stronger and protect his family... but it backfired and made him email. evil. i'm keeping that typo in there that is a true freudian slip. anyways maybe lessons we learn here maybe one of them learns you cannot protect your family by always going on offence (cough cough parker) maybe someone learns sometimes love is in fact not enough to save someone (pj) and maybe a third unnamed sister learns you can never truly outrun your destiny. (peyton.) anyways we can also retcon the three sisters melinda Specifically saw were pj parker and peyton lol. i don't think it would be received well but god it is tempting.

tamora i think i would send back in time and i would have her have to guard a twelve year old girl who she does not find out is melinda warren til the very end and throughout the episode like melinda's like wow i'm so glad i have to cool and capable powerful witch to help me bc otherwise i would sure die and the entire time tam's like fuck fuck ohmygodd fuck shit fuck aaaahhh!! anyways. helps tamora realize she is cool and capable.

henry jr i would like for her to meet in the present idk what they'd do together but it'd probably have to be a b or c plot because it would just wrap up too quickly they'd be way to capable together. could be a good episode where henry is really feeling disconnected from the family.

kat i might want to do past lives. idk who she'd be or how she would act with melinda. it might actually be funny if they kind of had beef. all of these have been to positive maybe it's time to get some haters up in here. maybe kat's avoidance issue clash with melinda's fiery fight for what's right energy? maybe vice versa. maybe kat wants to save a witch from burning but melinda knows she can't do it without risking exposure for all of them. maybe both...... kat has been known to run but her lover has been caught. melinda has seen the future and knows the only way for their coven (??) to survive or something is to not intervene. kat does tho (in a way no one realizes) (she soul swaps with her lovers so she can live on while kat burns).
