so i work at a dog boarding kennel, and i’ve actually met a handful of rare (in the US, anyway) breeds there—this past weekend, i got to meet a segugio italiano for the first time?? a real-life vasco boarded with us. i was so stoked.

he made me laugh because he was actually pretty sighthound-ish in temperament? so imagine a sunny golden boy with an adorable floppy face, but always super cautious and making the greyhound 😳 face. it was like a vaschete body swap had happened right in front of me.

(which is also funny considering that the ibizan hounds i’ve met have all been very outgoing and energetic lol)

Ohhh that's so cool! Segugios are rare here as well, I think I've only ever met one (1) individual. He was way smaller and lighter looking than you'd expect, and I totally get what you mean by sighthound temperament, he seemed very polite and restrained for a scenthound.

The fact that this page made me nearly tear up speaks of the level of character writing of Berserk

Farnese went from sadistically enjoying making people under herself suffer to feel a shred of power in her life, to panicking and rushing to protect the most vulnerable person that could be entrusted in her care, not for herself but because Casca needs to be cared for. And you get to see the evolution, what makes her question herself and the root of her beliefs, the guilt and sense of worthlessness that she carries with her and desperately wants to overcome.

What a wonderful character :)
