🌱MEDICINES OF BLUEBELLCLAN🥀
SNAKEROOT🐍
Snakeroot is a green, slender-leaved plant found in the woodlands during green-leaf. It can be scarce, so harvesting a bit once found is always good.
Anything growing above the ground is best left alone, as this plant can be a tad toxic. Medicine cats find most use with the roots-- when chewed, it can be applied to snakebites to help heal them. In very small dosages, the roots can also be eaten to help stimulate a poor appetite.
Too much of this plant can be deadly! Best leave dosage and handling to the medicine cats.
(I thought it would be cool to do entries on the medicine the clan uses, as the area they live in has very different flora to the original series! Please take the information with a grain of salt, obviously, haha. The information is based of off folk remedies and cursory research so it's not going to be super accurate to real life depending on how cool it sounds haha XD)

when I was young and my friends and I did warrior cats battle larping (which basically entailed us wrestling each other) I liked being the medicine cat. I like to memorize things. one time someone did actually get a scrape and needed a bandage and that was the height of my medicine career

one of the weird things about life expectancies in warrior cats stretching out as the series goes on is that lionblaze is 8 years old with adult grandchildren and showing no signs of age or even retiring, while yellowfang was depicted as old af when she died at the age of 8.
#warrior cats#yellowfang#lionblaze#in fairness i imagine being invincible for years when he was younger and unable to obtain serious injuries or illness#probably gave him a lifespan boost. but everyone else around him is living forever; thornclaw is fine even though his siblings retired#and they're all old enough to attend secondary school. cats like squirrelflight and whitewing don't seem to have stiffer limbs or grey fur.#i don't think they should have the same lifespan as a typical unmanaged feral colony (only 2 years!) but i think first arc cats#should really have all died of old age a while ago. second arc cats should be retired and starting to pass from old age. and cats from the#third and fourth arcs beginning to feel their age and the older ones retiring.#so a lifespan of about 8-10 years i think? with the odd outlier like mistystar. leaders should probably live another year or two anyhow#because of their extra lives. although normal age related complications would likely start to eat into them once they live for long enough.#(i mean. squirrelstar just go her nine lives. she's probably going to live longer than a cat like tallstar who got them at a younger age#even if she lands up with kidney failure or cancer they haven't been whittled away when she was young via other stuff. i think her living#long enough to take the junior cert is reasonable)#also i think medicine cats would live a bit longer because they don't have to hunt and fight all the time. although older med cats would be#more vulnerable to being killed by a disease outbreak. i think their apprentice would have to take on tasks like herb gathering and treatin#contagious illnesses.

(do you ever think about Sunwish not being able to save Morningbloom (The Guilt.) and then going on to help two queens kit safely in one season. Eye do. Both happened in Newleaf also. Injuries and illnesses included bc they're important for meds. ALSO in doing this realized Silverbelly is righteous like her mentor... Cute to me)
(PROMISE I WON'T ZERO IN ON SUNWISH FOREVER I just think she's SOOO fun and a little tragic to think about in her mystery. Becoming a medicine cat just because her clan needed one. Her conflict with Scorchstar. Her murder never being solved... GIVING GOLDENSTAR A LIFE FOR SELFLESSNESS!!! I forgot to put that on there but I AM going wild about it. Gay little standoffish meddie my beloved) (OH YEAH! :} Separate but Silver might've taken an interest in med cat stuff whenever she had fleas for a moon as a kit also which I think is really cute)
( - 🐈‍⬛)
(post-script: NOOOOO THE TRAGEDY.... <:'{ alas. DO ENJOY THE COLOURING STYLE)
HOLY SHIT THIS IS SO FUCKING COOL!!!!! YOU ARE MAKING ME FEEL THINGS ABOUT SNUWISH AUGHGHGHHGHG
some extra bits for you,,

also a fun fact is that she was a little bit in love with Goldenstar. It wasn't fully reciprocated, but you can see that he did like her back just a bit

also this. the knowledge is "you're a dickhead for murdering me wtf"

Snowbird Ann here: x_x I have Fennel growing in my front yard. That stuff...it tastes like black licorice and it's stringy like celery. But when it goes dormant, it leaves stalks that would be great building materials. Med cat/builders could get a fresh stalk, soak it in water to make it bendy and shape it into whatever. If I remember I'll go out and snap a picture of the dormant Fennel tomorrow.
Fennel is actually suuuuuuuuper useful for dozens of reasons. It's related to parsley and has been naturalized all over the world because humans find it so useful.
The cats could use it for:
-Funerals This herb can be STINKY. This could absolutely be one of the funeral herbs that elders rub onto the deceased, especially since it's non-toxic.
-Cooking It's full of fiber meaning it can be a good supplement even for cats, if not consumed in excess. It's also got potassium, manganese, calcium... They can't taste sweet but that licorice-y flavor would come across just fine. It's actually used in sausages a lot.
-Alcohol If your Warriors drink responsibly. And know how to distill. Mead made from honey would still be easier but fennel was used for health tonics in the middle ages... and then eventually got used to make absinthe.
-Insect repellent This one's actually huge because the OTHER big bad bug buster is mint... and all mint is toxic to cats. This is a really good non-toxic insect repellent for warriors next to lavender.
-"Toothpaste" Not like, a PASTE but, a sort of... sticky mouthwash poultice. Fennel's actually super good for oral health, eliminates bad breath, and fights plaque buildup; and remember, Our Friends Mint & Co is toxic to cats. You can make it into an oil and help a warrior with a gum problem. It's especially good at fighting streptococcus, which is one of the most common infectious bacteria in wild cats.
-General medicinal purposes Helping clean eye infections is just one medicinal use, fennel is useful for all sorts of ailments. It's anti-inflammatory, it's antibacterial (but not as good as honey), can help with digestion...
Historically it's also been associated with helping to treat colic in babies and estrogen-related issues like menopause and milk production, which is actually NOT proven with modern studies... but I think the idea is just cool enough to hand wave the science away, I would use it just to have an herb for colicky kits. It's weird that colic has never shown up in canonical kits before!
But...
Building use?
Probably not. You've noticed it's stringy-- that's actually where fennel gets its name. Fennel = Foenum = Latin for Hay. It's more like hay in consistency than twine and would be too soft to build with.
For strong material, you're just gonna want plain old wood. Twigs, branches, anywhere you can find fennel you're also going to find bushes or trees that'll make better beams.
For twine? Skip the fennel entirely with its short stalks and just get some tall grass. Or, if you've got long-haired cats, they can make yarn out of shed fur if they collect enough of it. Better yet, if you've got access to flax? Then you're REALLY cooking with fire, that bad boy can be made into fabric, rope, clothing... Don't even get me STARTED on industrial hemp, you could weave reality itself out of that popstar. Paper, clothes, canvas, shampoo, lamp oil, rope, bombs, you want it? It's YOURS my friend--
Anyway
TL;DR stick to the herbal uses for fennel. You're better letting dormant fennel re-grow because it's better in the paws of your medcats than your warriors.

List of Herbs & Uses ( + Other tools)
DO NOT USE THIS AS FACT. THIS IS FOR FAKE CATS. DO NOT USE THIS IN REAL LIFE. I AM SERIOUS.
CW; FOR MENTION OF SPIDERS, LEECHES, FLEAS AND WOUNDS
Psss shoutout to @bonefall ‘s herb guide. Helped me a lot + inaturalist thing. Really helped
Alder (Alnus glutinosa) Bark - Chewed to ease toothaches. Found along rivers, can also grow in swampy areas.
Burdock (Arctium minus) Root - The root is dug up, the soil is washed off, and then it is chewed into a pulp. Soothes and heals rat bites especially if they are infected. Can be used for other wounds, more commonly bite wounds. Helps to prevent infections or fight off infections. Prefers moist soil and full sun. Will tolerate most soils. Very dangerous to dig up, only trained Healers can do this.
Catmint (Nepeta x faassenii) - Used as a treatment for Greencough. It can also improve relaxation, which may reduce anxiety, restlessness, and nervousness. Found in Twolegs gardens. Thrives in areas with dry soil and is very tolerant of dryer conditions.
Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) - Used as a anticonvulsant herb for cats with epilepsy. MUST BE STEEPED IN WATER. The herb also has a side effect of drowsiness. IN LARGE DOSES IT CAN BE TOXIC! This is why it’s steeped in water. Grows basically anywhere but prefers sunny areas with free draining soil.
Chervil (Chaerophyllum temulum) - Chewed to extract the juice of the leaves for infected wounds or the root for bellyaches. Grows best in a cool, partly shaded spot.
Chew sticks - A small twig from a young willow or Silver Birth tree. First chew the end off. Once that is finished they ‘brush’ their teeth with the bristles, shifting it in their paws to cover the whole mouth.
Cobweb  -  A cobweb is fluffy and messy. They are made by a cobweb spider and it is used to stop or slow bleeding.
Comfrey ( Symphytum officinale ) -  Roots are chewed into a poultice and leaves are chewed into a pulp. Can help for broken bones, soothes wounds, burns and wrenched claws. Can be used to help with itching or for inflammation on stiff or wrenched joints. Also eases stiffness on wrenched shoulders when lined in a nest. IF USED TOO MUCH IT CAN BE TOXIC!!! Found in damp, grassy places.
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) - ...Just check this post out. TLDR; it has way too many uses. It grows in most but grows best in sunny sites with free draining soil. It does not like too much shade, and will struggle if the soil is prone to becoming waterlogged.
Feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium) - When eaten it reduces body temperature for cats with fever or chills. Helps with headaches. It also reduces all inflammation and swelling. Grows anywhere sunny, not too picky about soil types.
Flea Bath - ...Self explanatory
Herb Robert (Geranium robertianum) - When eaten it can help with grief. Grows anywhere sunny, not too picky about soil types. Can flourish in part shade.
Honey - Used for bacterial infection, especially eye bacterial infection.
Horehound (Lycopus europaeus) - Given to trans cats as a hormone suppressants. If they suddenly stop or overdose it can cause thyroid enlargement. Horehound can also be used to treat anxiety, heart palpitations, stopping bleeding, and respiratory illness. Grows best in full sun and sandy well-drained soil.
Leech (Hirudo medicinalis) - Used for joint pain.
Mint (Genus Mentha) - Used to cover a cat on a funeral if the body is particularly bad. Very toxic, don't use often.
Mullein (Verbascum thapsus) - Mainly used to treat Yellowcough. TOXIC IN LARGE DOSES. Found in well-lit, disturbed soils.
Salt - Insect repellant!
Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris) Pollen - Added to water and food to increase testosterone.
Splint - A strip of rigid material used for supporting and immobilizing a broken bone when it has been set.
Poppy seeds (Papaver somniferum) - Can help a cat sleep, soothe shock or distress, or ease pain. Not recommended for nursing queens. Flourishes in dry, warm climates.
Rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus) - Used as a hormone suppressant for cats going to female to male. Also used as a antifungal and used when cooking. It grows best in a sunny, sheltered spot, in well-drained soil.
Stinging Nettle (Urtica dioca) + Root  - First must be processed first. Used to treat burns and inflammation. The root can be taken by a transmasc warrior.
Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) - It is used to aid in anxiety and stress. Makes a cat more active. Used as a anticonvulsant herb. Side effect is it causes cats to perk up. Can be found anywhere with good drainage but it prefers sandy loam.
Web - A web is flat and neat. They are made by most spiders and it is used to stop or slow bleeding.
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) - When eaten it can induce vomiting. If more than a small amount is eaten it can cause death. Thrives best in sunny areas but will tolerate some shade. Doesn't tolerate constantly wet soil and prefers well-drained soil. Thrives in hot and dry conditions.

Lots of herbs are now gone
Almost all mint is toxic to cats btw
Sorry marigold lovers, but it doesn't grow naturally in the general area I'm basing this off of.
...Most of the herbs don't grow naturally in this general area.
Mostly in towns
Probably going to do a territory thing of Thunder Guild where I list plants, prey and stuff like that
I got rid of most herbs because they A; don't grow here or B; too toxic for kitties
Btw if you want to either dock species (curly dock or board leaved dock) could work but only in small doses

Okay, so in Hocus Pocus, Thackery Binx decided to spend his eternity as a cat guarding the black flame candle. But because of the way the candle works, he really only had to watch the Sanderson house on Halloween, yeah? And only Halloweens with full moons? So he could spend the rest of his time doing whatever as a cat, roaming around learning modern lingo and pranking people and whatever, right?
Here’s a concept: he wanders by a particular part of the woods and accidentally stumbles into the plot of a Warrior Cats book. And for some reason he just has to roll with it undercover. By the time he gets a chance to leave, he’s made friends and found a place to live where he doesn’t have to be in constant crushing isolation, so he decides to just stay. ‘Cause why not? He gets a clan name and role, and hides the fact that he can speak the language of whatever they call humans in those books (my Warrior Cats phase was quite a while ago, I don’t remember), and makes his excuses to leave every Halloween. Heck, maybe the truth does eventually get out, but whether they believe his story or not, they eventually accept his connection to humans because he gives them insight into the strange ways of those bipedal jerks.
It’s a super weird mashup of fandoms. I think it’s a really fun concept though. I quite enjoy imagining Binx’s reaction to first wandering into some hyper-dramatic battle over clan territory or something. Like, there’s these two cats pacing around each other, lashing out at each other threateningly with their claws and snarling, like “You can never defeat us, for we have the hearts of lions, and our strength is in our bond and devotion to our clan” “Ah, but you underestimate the power to be gained by surreptitious means, and you will fall before me, as weak in battle as in rule.” Meanwhile, Thackery’s just hiding in the bushes watching this super intense kitty cat standoff like Is this real??

idea from @downbadforpixels: soukoku as the TATTOO ARTIST X FLORIST trope (or more like the ada is the flower shop and the pm is the tattoo parlor)
NO BECAUSE IT ACTUALLY FITS?? dazai being a former tattoo artist before mysteriously abandoning his shifts for a month, only to reappear as a worker in the flower shop next door? his bandages hide the scars and tattoos that paint his skin, and the darkness in his eyes from dealing with shady customers is buried under the fake happiness as a florist
chuuya being the teenager that dazai dragged into working with him when they were younger, and has now become one of the tattoo artists that people often request due to his intricate and beautiful works. there seems to be some grudge between him and the cute florist next door... never mind, they were caught making out at the back of the flower shop. case closed.
OK BUT dazai would gift chuuya with flowers on special occasions, and chuuya would definitely give dazai more tattoos; whether they’re the ones made of ink or those that litter the skin on dazai’s neck is private information :)
