i have absolutely NO patience for anyone being shitty or judgmental or othering about addicts, not just because of my ethical principles and baseline compassion for other human beings, but because i have personal experience with how inseparable substance abuse is from mental illness and other kinds of inescapable suffering. i got high on cannabis and benzos all day long, 6 days a week for two years because i had severe treatment-resistant depression (aka i had tried EVERY legal treatment available without improvement). when i found a medication that made it go away almost entirely, i dropped down to maybe 3 times a month purely for fun and after my day's responsibilities are done, within days of starting to feel better. and now i feel like shit again and i've been getting high several times a week as literal self-medication. because, you know, i'm in horrible pain and it would be cruel and inhuman for someone to tell me i had to ignore the one tool i had access to that would reduce my suffering, just so i wouldn't be an ~addict~, which is of course the worse most disgusting worthless thing a person can be.
i know that there are many addictions that are more physically damaging and that people continue to crave physiologically even when they start recovering from the mental or physical pain that drove them to drugs in the first place. i am very, very fortunate that due to my life circumstances i have no access to meth or heroin or more dangerous stuff like that. but it is sure as hell a lot less difficult to resist even those cravings when the pain that they were used to alleviate is drastically reduced!!!
anyway this is all just me restating the rat town study that proved almost all drug addiction is caused by capitalism and/or trauma, and weakening capitalism and building rewarding caring societies eliminates substance abuse almost entirely. why the fuck would you scream at and shame people experiencing unspeakably terrible pain rather than the forces and people who caused/failed to treat that pain?

Hello 👋
Please take a moment to read my story.
I am Heba Al-Dahdouh. I currently live in the completely destroyed city of Gaza. Since the war on Gaza began on 7/1/2024, my family- my father Nasif, my mother Asmaa, and my siblings Khaled, Ahmad, Muhammad, and Malak-have been living in constant fear, crying, and suffering due to shrapnel, shells, and bullets.
Tumblr media
We have no food, no electricity, no cooking gas, no schools, no homes, no cleaning supplies, and no clothes. My school has been bombed, and my brother Khaled's university is now rubble, depriving us all of education. The war has forced us to live in displacement centers, which are just tents unsuitable for living, especially in winter.
Tumblr media
Every day we live death, terror, and panic a thousand times because of the ongoing bombardment of my city. The war has killed more than 50 of my relatives and neighbors. At the start of the war, we sought refuge at my aunt's house, but it too Imagine: we have survived imminent death more than 20 times and have been displaced among shelters more than 13 times. My siblings and I have suffered from many illnesses due to malnutrition, and we need medication continuously.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If we stay in Gaza, we might lose our lives. Recently, we have been seriously considering leaving Gaza for a safe place. However, travel costs are extremely high. We need over $50,000 to leave Gaza. Due to exorbitant prices, rampant unemployment, lack of security, the ongoing siege, and relentless bombardment, we have lost all our money. How can we live in such insecurity, with constant shelling and shrapnel flying above us? Dear compassionate friends around the world,
With your generous donations, even if small, you can save 7 people from imminent death, allowing us to start a life outside Gaza filled with love, peace, and hope.
With my warmest regards from the city of Gaza,
Heba Al-Dahdouh.

This post doesn’t have a thesis but, it’s an observation I have that cost-of-living does not go up linearly with improvements to life, it multiplies. Sometimes by huge amounts.
Like are you an adult living with your parents who aren’t charging rent? Maybe your costs are just food mostly. Would you like to move out? That’s reasonable. Except now the cost of living is rent (probably 2-4x what your monthly food cost was or more) and all the utilities.
Are you tired of renting and want to own a house? Thats reasonable. Except that costs an entire down payment, and now property tax and mortgage. And if your sink breaks the plumber’s visit is $150, and materials are $150 and cost of labor is $150. And that’s just the sink. If it’s something worse it can be several months’ worth of what used to be your rent budget spent instantly.
Do you own a house that’s a little dated and weathered and would like to do some renovations? That’s reasonable. The kitchen renovation is $30,000. The bathroom renovation is $20,000. Expect “unexpected” costs to build up along the way.
Do you own a house and want to start a family and give them the best life? Thats reasonable. College across 3 kids is going to be bare minimum $500,000. You’d hate to saddle them with all of that debt so you better start saving now. This saving needs to somehow come out of a budget which is now supporting 3 kids’ worth of food, clothes, daycare, school supplies, sports supplies, family vacations (if you’re lucky enough for those), dental work, braces, medical checkups—

Everything You Need to Know about Equipment Rental Jacksonville
When it comes to undertaking a construction project, landscaping endeavor, or any significant DIY task, having the right tools and equipment is non-negotiable. However, purchasing such equipment outright can be a costly affair, often unjustifiable for one-time or infrequent use. This is where equipment rental Jacksonville services come into the picture, offering a practical and cost-effective solution. In Jacksonville, equipment rental services have flourished, providing an array of options for both professionals and amateurs alike. This guide delves into the essentials of Jacksonville equipment rental, helping you navigate your options and make informed decisions.
Tumblr media
Understanding the Scope of Equipment Rental Jacksonville
Jacksonville equipment rental companies cater to a wide range of needs, from heavy construction machinery like excavators and backhoes to more specialized tools such as power washers and gardening equipment. These services are designed to meet the diverse requirements of various projects, ensuring you have access to the right tools at the right time.
Why Opt for Equipment Rental in Jacksonville?
1. Cost Efficiency: The primary advantage of choosing equipment rental Jacksonville is the significant cost savings. Instead of investing a large sum in purchasing equipment, you can rent it for a fraction of the price, especially for short-term projects.
2. Access to Modern Equipment: Rental companies regularly update their inventory with the latest models and technologies. This means you can access modern equipment that might be too expensive to buy.
Tumblr media
3. Maintenance and Storage: Owning equipment comes with the added responsibilities of maintenance and storage. Rentals relieve you of these burdens, as the rental company takes care of servicing and housing the equipment.
4. Flexibility: Jacksonville equipment rental services offer flexibility in terms of rental duration, allowing you to rent equipment for as long as you need without the commitment of ownership.
How to Choose the Right Jacksonville Equipment Rental Service
Inventory Variety: Look for a rental service that offers a wide range of equipment, ensuring you can find all the tools you need under one roof.
2. Quality and Maintenance: Ensure the rental company maintains its equipment well and that the tools are in good working condition before renting.
3. Rental Terms and Conditions: Read the rental agreement carefully. Pay attention to the rental period, costs, late fees, and the process for reporting any issues with the equipment.
4. Customer Service: Choose a company known for its excellent customer service, offering guidance in selecting the right equipment and providing support in case of any problems.
5. Pricing: Compare prices from different equipment rental Jacksonville services to ensure you’re getting a fair deal. However, don’t compromise on quality and reliability for a lower price.
Maximizing the Benefits of Equipment Rental in Jacksonville
To make the most out of your equipment rental Jacksonville experience, planning is key. Assess your project needs thoroughly and make a list of all the equipment you’ll require. Consider the project timeline to determine the rental duration. It’s also wise to reserve your equipment in advance, especially during peak seasons, to avoid last-minute availability issues.
Conclusion
Jacksonville equipment rental services offer a practical solution for accessing high-quality equipment without the hefty price tag of ownership. Whether you’re a professional contractor or a DIY enthusiast, these services provide the tools you need to complete your projects efficiently and effectively. By choosing the right rental service and planning your equipment needs carefully, you can ensure your projects run smoothly, keeping within budget and timelines.
Remember, the right equipment can make a significant difference in the quality and efficiency of your work, making equipment rental in Jacksonville an option worth considering for your next project.

The US military has completed its 500th flight airlifting over 50,000 tons of weapons and equipment to the Israeli army for its over ten-month onslaught against Palestinians in Gaza, the Israeli Defense Ministry announced on 26 August. In addition to the weapons and equipment airlifted to Israel since 7 October, Washington has sent Tel Aviv 107 shipments of military supplies by sea. A Defense Ministry statement said the shipments include “armored vehicles, munitions, ammunition, personal protection gear, and medical equipment, which are crucial for sustaining the IDF’s operational capabilities during the ongoing war.” The weapons shipments – that have enabled Israel to kill over 40,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and render Gaza uninhabitable – come as White House officials claim that US presidential candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris has been “working tirelessly” for a ceasefire agreement. Muhammad Shehada of EuroMed Human Rights reported on 25 August that, according to multiple senior officials in Doha who were directly involved in the Israel–Gaza ceasefire talks, “There are currently no negotiations, only a sham theatre play.”

Hey people on Tumblr, I have a question for you : do you contribute to your community ? Do you take the initiative to make things better for the people around you ?
I’ve brought up many times about Shahed Abumousa. She’s a 20 year old Palestinian who is studying dentistry and she is doing her best to survive a whole year of horror and violence. Since October last year, she has gone through the bombing of her house, the multiple displacements, the hunger and thirst, the shootings and diseases.
Despite it all, Shahed has dedicated her time, energy, and effort for everyone around her. She has volunteered as medical aid when hospitals were being destroyed one by one, distributed food with her family when she is starving, and taught children who couldn’t go to school in between her classes. Speaking of which, she continues with her education to achieve her degree while fundraising for her family of 7 people’s survival and supplies for her students. She is carrying a lot on her shoulders when she is only 20!
I am asking you once again:, what are you doing for your community? The truth is that most people are doing the bare minimum, if anything at all. So if you want to make a difference, please donate and share. Your contribution will not only help Shahed and her family survive, but it will also help give back to her community. So give what you can because she's stagnating at the halfway mark that she reached only recently after 7 months. She deserves all of our support.

It is difficult for me to ask for a little financial help from you But I will not let my innocent children go without a fight until my last breath
I was about to achieve my dream of becoming a teacher but the war destroyed all my dreams. Most schools in Gaza have been destroyed.💔💔
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unfortunately, our house was bombed and destroyed during the recent events,
Tumblr media
which caused us severe psychological and physical damage due to the catastrophic situation we are currently living in. We were forcibly displaced due to the heavy bombing from the north of Gaza to the south, where we have no shelter except a tent that does not protect us from the cold of winter or the heat of summer.
Tumblr media
We are now living in catastrophic conditions, in particular my child Riad who was born with a hole in his heart and also pulmonary valve stenosis. At the age of 6 months, he underwent open heart surgery.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, during his regular checkups after surgery, exactly 2 years ago, we noticed that problems had started to appear again.💔
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My child Riad often falls ill due to his weak immune system and the severe shortage of food, supplies and medical supplies that we suffer from, in addition to the high prices that make it difficult to meet our basic needs.
We don’t even have access to clean drinking water. The loss of our home has exacerbated our suffering, and our daily lives have become a constant struggle for survival.

My family and I thank you all from the bottom of our hearts! ❤️❤️‍

Help Family Raghad🙏🏻🍉
Hello everyone! My name is Raghad and I am from Gaza. I am currently in my third year of university at the Faculty of Dentistry in Egypt. Before the genocide, I relied on paying my tuition fee ($3000) from my father. Now, our home in the Gaza Strip in the Khan Younis area has been destroyed. Throughout the genocide, my dear father lost his job, which was our source of livelihood, and all of our financial resources became inaccessible.
Tumblr media
Currently, my mother’s family (my mother’s brothers and sisters and their children) and my father’s family (my father’s brothers and sisters and their children) are all in the Gaza Strip in an area called Al-Mawasi. All of them live in tents and are struggling everyday to survive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Living in Egypt has increasingly been difficult for me and my family. 5 months ago, my family (my mother @ranasadeq , father, three sisters and one brother) evacuated from Gaza and are struggling to pay our rent and daily expenses. My brother,@mahmoud-sd who is still studying high school online, needs $100 per month for his tuition. My three sisters, who are also in school, each require $100 per month for their tuition.
Tumblr media
Due to the harsh living conditions and the extremely high cost of living in Egypt, we must pay $150 per month for rent. Additionally, we face great difficulty in meeting our obligations, as my family’s monthly expenses are approximately $600, covering high prices for food, water, electricity, gas bills, and medical expenses for my grandmother.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, I need about $20,000 in total to cover me and my family’s Here are the details:
>>>FAMILY NEEDS<<<
*Housing and Daily Expenses*:
  - House rent: $150 per month
  - Monthly family expenses: $600 (includes high prices for food, water, electricity, and gas bills)
  - Medical expenses for grandmother
*Education*:
  - Brother’s high school tuition: $100 per month
  - Three sisters’ school tuition: $100 per month each
*Extended Family*:
  - Mother’s family and father’s family in Gaza (Al-Mawasi area) living in tents and struggling to survive
>>>EXPENSES FOR RAGHAD<<<
*University Tuition*:
  - Previous academic year: $3000
  - Current academic year: $3000
  - Total tuition fees: $6000
*Dental Supplies*:
  - Cost: $300
*Daily Living Expenses*:
  - Monthly expenses: $100
Everything we have in Gaza has been destroyed. I know that you have unconditional love for the people of Gaza and that you support us.
