Dungeon Meshi: The RPG

#Dungeon Meshi #laios touden #marcille donato #chilchuck tims #senshi #animation #game dev diary #Please give a huge hand to my coding partner #who labored for over two weeks to figure out how to implement reaction animation for the battle icons.#You may also notice that I updated the battle portraits from my previous post! New and (mostly) improved!#The death screens were not changed because I didn't think they'd get used for this video.#But Chilchuck getting one-shotted and leaving due to this being outside of his pay? Accidental comedy gold.#The full sprite (I didn't realize the bottom third would be hidden) says: “NOT PAID FOR THIS”#And yeah he's smoking. He gets a smoke break as part of his contract. Let a guy have his vices. He's teetering on a divorce.#Dungeon Meshi would be a fun rpg in theory but it would need to have immersive mechanics like cooking and foraging.#And hunger and fatigue and other status effects.#A slightly more lighthearted fear and hunger sort of game.#But that is for some other fan to do. This is just a fun tech demo for us to learn RPG maker!#So...with this mini-project concluded #we now have a foundation we can pass over to our actual game!#Next game dev post will be some game assets (probably busts and battle icons for the main party)#And after that! Most likely some more sprite sheets (I have made a few more since my first attempt)#Thank you for everyone who has been rooting us on since I started talking about this project. It means a ton B'*)

Annexed Voidspace, an AU of Skyblock Kingdoms, where I put the kingdoms into Skyblock Kingdoms.

I'm keeping the environment, decidedly this is the realm of the Skylocked Isles, a series of islands usually known for being isolated and desolate, though recently a small sector more inhabitable islands has been discovered.

An agreement drafted by Dark Oak kingdom, after the return of their prince, states that each kingdom shall claim an island where the terrain is most similar to that of their homeland. Each kingdom would send 2 representatives, and each kingdom would act under their crown, but behave as a relatively separate land, even if only due to the communication barrier.

An environment so empty, so vast and quiet, drenched in magic to the extent it is. Though each kingdom may have their own reasons for throwing their hat in the ring, some things are inevitable, and others, inescapable.

To start, I shall turn to Jungle Kingdom. One prince all too excited to explore, though unaware of the true dangers of the abyss below, the other prince, all too aware and hoping that taking to the skies will allow him to flee what threatens to hold him captive.

[Guys you have no idea how much I enjoy worldbuilding. I've done worldbuilding for minecraft based things so much that I have an established concept for how things work, including gods, magic, armor, villagers, respawn, inventories, etc. etc. etc. Skyblock functions in such a unique manner that I'm gonna go nuts with the worldbuilding on this one.]

ive seen you make a thousand posts about testament and mildly admired their gender from afar but somehow it’s the post u made about the succubi that made me a bit like Oh okay i see now. i didn’t know they were cool like that (bigender ) (siblings or like one being cleaved in two halves or something Sorry im reading about it now)

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay :) its not actually explained why theres 2 succubi now, they used to have just the 1. But i Choose to believe in succubus mitosis cuz its funny. They switch between calling each other dear brother/sister in testament’s intros so theres some kind of connection there. Also the original succubus was so cutesy too btw

#i guess its just kind of mechanically necessary… 1 succubus turns into the crow and the other forms the blade on their scythe #cuz testament is less insane and doesnt cut off their arms n shit to get blood #they offer to Give their blood to 1 of the succubi in a voice line so i guess thats what their contract entails #? so i assume they give blood to the succubi and it gets loaned back to them when they fight. thats much healthier. good work testament #sorry i love testament and all their funny friends so dearly.#bring back the ones theyve lost… WHERES THE CENTIPEDE. i have a horrible habit in tf2 and its that i refuse to leave dead casual servers. (like at the end of a match, when everyone requeues and theres like 4 people left) as long as theres one other person i will stay and mess around with them for hours .

#there was this one guy i played with until like 3am... across like 5 or 6 different maps. the server revived and died like 3 separate times #he insisted on mge-ing me as scout and his mechanical skills were WAY better than mine but it was so fun #another person i helped with their jungle inferno contracts.. by the end i didnt fight back and they were basically farming kills off me lol #they finished their contract tho!!#tf2 #my post

i want to defend blue team's strat bc i feel like people are (validly) annoyed by how hard to counter it was (i really think tubbo would have claimed them even if etoiles and roier hadn't glitched bc he was so well positioned [tho we'll never know weep 😭]) but if you're annoyed, congrats! that's how blue team's felt the past 2 days lol while ~technically~ they could counter by defending spawn like etoiles and roier tried to they a) don't have that many players online at that time naturally (etoiles and tubbo having to be on a 4-5am is not healthy even if possible) and b) it's VERY easy—even without doing tubbo's log strat—to have one person run in spawn and claim them all in <2 secs in the last 10 minutes and have the countdown make it impossible to counterclaim. like REALLY easy. and if they've already claimed the contracts, there is literally nothing they can do but watch the other team win which is VERY frustrating. so it's purposefully irritating/dirty strategy that protests the late login being so op. i'm pretty sure tubbo complained on day 2 that the game rewards waiting until the last 15 minutes to claim rewards unless they balanced it better. blue then lost to the same balancing issue two days in a row. and only tomorrow, on day 5 is it getting fixed. that's the slowest any balancing issue has been implemented so far!! (the % changes daily to fit the gameplay, they gave more detail on the points breakdown the day after blue asked, they added the spawn safe zone today WHILE bad was spawnkilling) blue team simply took the late login strat to its logical extreme, and i think that it really highlights why the game is changing to avoid this outcome!! but blue suffered for like 3 days from this unfairness so i, personally, think it's well-deserved for them to use it to their advantage on the last day it's possible!!

ur post about queerbaiting and the dismissal of people in fandom to critical analysis is so incredibly true thank you. i feel like marcille's writing in the anime has been super misogynistic a lot of the time and every time i bring this up all anyone wants to say is "well maybe this isn't for you! and you shouldn't watch the show!" like. i don't think this is about taste lmao, i am analyzing the text in front of me and coming to conclusions about the craft of it.

It is so so frustrating!!!!

It's like being at a restaurant and being served a bunch of delicious appetizers, but then one of the bread appetizers is literally just a plate of crumbs; and then when you're like, "Hey, uhh, why are we being served literal crumbs?", a bunch of the other folks eating at the restaurant are like,

"WELL HOW ABOUT YOU JUST DON'T EAT HERE THEN??!? YOU MUST NOT BE THAT HUNGRY, SO JUST FIND ANOTHER RESTAURANT AND DON'T EAT WITH US!!"

And maybe they say it politely, but "Aw, sorry, maybe this restaurant just isn't for you 💖" is just trading out an aggressive dismissive tone for a patronizing dismissive tone. It's the same message.

And it's like! I was honestly happy to move on from the crumbs once my complaint was acknowledged because the meal overall is still delicious, but then all these folks got SUPER WEIRD AND DEFENSIVE ABOUT IT, so now I find myself double-checking all the other dishes -- and, actually, you know what those eggs DO look a Iittle misogynistic undercooked!!!!

i feel really sad. just squashed under the heavy weight of sadness

#it's the way that no matter what i still can't see any happy endings for myself...#it's one of those days when i just want to disappear forever and none of my coping mechanisms are working #i know part of the reason is that i have to return to the extremely literally trauma triggering job on tuesday #i'm going to try to get transfered to a new (again) location to finish out my 'contract' plus i do like the skills i learn at my job #if they won't transfer me i will have to quit and i've never quit a job before #there's other things going on too though. idk. just hate that my life's turned out like this #but from what i've seen with my particular combination of mental issues #i've been punching above my weight almost my whole life #i hope this isn't the limit #brain stuff

#i was having trouble feeling excited about it bc my immediately subsequent job was to field emails from people with technical questions #but in fact. it's good to have a contract #~$85/yr dental insurance! a vision plan that is only worth it in glasses-purchasing years but at least is worth it then‚ and exists now!#if you get trapped in University HR Department Harassment Investigation Hell for more than 6 months you can just go straight to arbitration #if you're working with chronic hazard exposure they have to give you regular hazard-specific preventive care!#every J1/F1 worker just gets $1200! because immigration is fucking miserable!#there is now a review process meant to prevent people from getting fired because they 'failed their prelims' in cases where that is #overtly a fig leaf for either 'advisor got bored of your project' or 'you are a woman in a mechanical engineering lab'#and while that one's not grievable for complicated reasons we DO get to put grad workers on the review board.#anyway. um. i think i did an okay job at my negotiations job‚ overall. is my main thought here #box opener
