ok so HI. hi. my old tutorial pisses me off so i will make a new one

i made a guy whose sole purpose is to be shaded so dont worry he likes it. and his name. his name will be mr. Boob. mr boob does not have to be blue

theres probably way better explanations of how to do it but unfortunately trying to "emulate" shading does ask you to somewhat understand ur character in a 3d way. like what would the 2d shape be if you "sliced" it? mr boob is made of so many circles. his tail also does a kind of weird perspective foreshortening thing because its pointing at you. is this being conveyed

you obviuously dont have to draw a horrendous grid on your characters skin to do this . BUT it helps you put down (or at least envision) the lines of the form shading :

dont worry about cast shadows or the shading color because this is FORM SHADOW time only. think about what surfaces of the character are obviously facing away from the light source and put down the "separation line" of the shading based on that. thr most important thing is that youre trying to separate light from dark

im going to pick the first one for cast shadows bc it will be the most obvious to me

ok so. his ears and snout are blocking other surfaces of his body from the light, which means a shadow is cast!!!! bam. i saw someone describe cast shadows as what the light's pov "can't see." his entire body is putting down a cast shadow on the ground too

im impatient so i blended the form shadows now. its usually the easiest to just NOT blend cast shadows as a way of conveying that they are still cast shadows. but you can still blend them if you want to show "distance" between the obstruction and the surface its blocking. but its just a way of saying form and cast shadows should not be treated the same even if their softness coincides

im going to lump reflection and ambient light together because theyre like. similar. reflections dont just happen in mirrors

since the sky is blue, making the ambient lighting, i tinged mr. boobs existing shadow to be a bit blue. (*this is kind of important because it can help you decide a shading color, which should USUALLY be based on the environment) (unless your character is just in the transparent void then it doesnt matter)

since the ground is pink, i made pink light bounce off of him. pointed and labelled. i dont rlly know how to go more in depth than that

contact shadows are literally shadows formed from direct-touching contact. very little light can reach in there, even from how reflections disperse, which means youre free to use the darkest color available (black). in this case mr. boob is making contact with the floor. because he is sitting on the floor.

i touched him up a bit and wow!!!!!!!!!! look at mr. boob!!! he is so beautifully sculpted.

and one more thing

thats right. i made mr boob PINK. hes fucking ruined now. just kidding i would never say that to him

what im trying to convey here (its the easiest with really light colors) is a transitional color. this can also show subsurface scattering depending on how you use it which is fun to look at. the mistake i made on my last tutorial was "Just pick a warm saturated color!" which is really wrong in examples like Blue mr boob. because it would be weird to use a warm color to transition from blue to blue.

if you have a character that isn't bright enough then obviously the shadows wont be as visible. its BEST to bring more attention to highlights and reflections to reveal the form a bit. they play the biggest role with darker colors

JOSEPH

Joseph has gotten used to handling situations that are overwhelming. He’s grown to be more quiet overtime, but let’s be honest here, it’s still Joseph. He’s going to worry. When you begin to look uncomfortable, he’s going to ask what’s up. Don’t lie to him, he can tell something is wrong, the man is a father, and he learned the tell tale signs of discomfort with his own little family. 

When he asks and you don’t respond immediately, he’s going to pause and pull you aside to make sure you heard him. 

“Y/N, are you alright?”

“…”

“Are you feeling unwell? Sick?”

You shrug

“Okay, let’s sit down.” He puts his hand on your arm and you flinch at the contact, which makes the overstimulation flare. When you yank your arm away from him, he’s going to be suspicious that maybe there’s a much bigger issue at play but he’s going to lead you away from the crowd and get you to sit.

“Can you tell me what’s the matter?”

A panic attack seizes in your throat and he can see it, “Can you talk to me?”

Your palms sweat and shake your head with shame.

“Okay, well, can you point to anything that you need?”

You shake your head again, closing your eyes, trying to avoid the harsh light.

“Okay…” Joseph tries to problem solve, “Can you point to what is bothering you?”

You manage to your ears

“Your ears hurt?”

You shake your head

“Is something in your ear?”

You shake your head again, this time covering your ears.

“It’s too loud.” He realizes. He thinks for a moment. “Hold on.”

You notice he pulls something from his pocket, earbuds. Connected to them is a Walkman, he unplugs them and holds the cord out to you, “you can put them in, it’s not much, but they’ll make it a bit quieter until I can find some earplugs.”

It’s a few minutes before Joseph comes back and puts a pair of earplugs beside you and a pair of headphones, “Use either. They’re the highest quality, so don’t worry.”

JOTARO

Jotaro can’t lose it. He’s got too much riding on him. If things go sideways, he would never forgive himself for the consequences, that is if he made it out alive. Because of this, Jotaro isn’t very in touch with his own emotions and prefers to keep them tamped down and if not in danger, he might actively ignore some signs of a sensory overload. He just doesn’t have the mental capacity to deal with it. Don’t mistake this for a lack of empathy or effort, he’s just way out of his depth here. That being said, if things really escalate, he might snap at you, thinking he can get you to act ‘reasonable’ if you take notice of how you’re feeling and pull yourself out of it on your own.

“Hey, quit muttering! It’s damn annoying.”

When you cover your ears and whimper, he feels something in his chest ache. 

He made it worse. He gets up from his hotel bed, huffs and goes to sit a bit closer to you but not too close, he gets wanting personal space, “I didn’t think you’d be that sensitive.” He pulls his hat over his eyes.

When things stay quiet, and he doesn’t really know what to say, he might ask you if you need anything. He’s frustrated. He gets when the world is just too full of pointless talking and noise, but watching you suffer, well, it was a new perspective. Jotaro wants to understand, but now he doesn’t know if it’s even his business. He’d leave you alone, but stand users lurk around every corner, and he’d be damned if he was leaving you alone in this state.

Fuck. What do you even do in this kind of situation. People don’t really cry or breakdown in front of him, not unless they were babies. You weren’t a baby. But that was the closest thing he had to what was going on. Babies get upset if they’re overwhelmed and need a nap…

Jotaro drapes the sheets of the hotel bed over you and closes the curtains, “I’ll be on the patio.” He grabs a book. He doesn’t expect an answer. If you need him, you know where he’ll be. 

POLNAREFF

Polnareff is pretty clueless. He means well, promise, He just hasn’t been a person people look up to for guidance and support for a while. Polnareff is a funny and flirty guy a lot of the time. He understands sorrow and grief, but he also knows when he should distance himself from things if they get in the way of the objective. Well, he’s better at it now. He’s been on a long journey of suffering to get closure because of his sister’s death. This all means he’s all too familiar with personal meltdowns, but not somebody else’s. Polnareff will first start picking up on your sensory overstimulation when you start to lag behind everybody else.

“Hey, Y/N, pick up the pace. You’re going to still be in Aswan by the time we’re in Cairo.”

You didn’t reply. He notices this and hangs back while the rest of the crusaders keep moving but will slow a bit so they don’t get out of eyesight. They tell Polnareff to be quick, because they need to keep moving. 

“You’re going a bit slow, mon ami.” He remarks

You hide your face.

“Oh? Too hot? I get it, I’ve been wearing this rag. I found it at a market. When we get to Luxor, maybe you should get one for yourself.” He points at the cooling towel on his head and shoulders. You don’t respond and just try to stay quiet and breathe.

“Man, you aren’t this quiet most of the time. I mean, you talk a fair amount, but you’re acting like a recluse.” He says without much understanding.

Your shoulders haunch with shame. He doesn’t get it.

“Maybe you’re hungry, or thirsty.” He guesses, “Mr. Joestar has a canteen, but you’ll have to pick up the pace to get it.”

Still, no sign you’d even heard him.

“Y/N, are you even listening to me?”

It was then he noticed you shaking, “Hey, Y/N, are you hurt?” When you don’t say anything, but shake your head, he yells out to the group, “Hold up! Y/N might be hurt!”

You bury your face in your hands, his yelling setting you off even more. This becomes a back and forth movement to counter the overstimulation. He notices the rocking and checks you for injuries, “Where is it? Who was it? Was this the work of an enemy stand?”

You shake your head vigorously. 

“What?” His concerned look mixes with confusion, “I don’t get it, what’s going on then?”

Your hands shake as you crouch down and try to hide. 

“Polnareff, what’s going on back there?” You can hear Joseph’s gruff voice.

Avdol ends up coming and looking you over, “Stress.” He says plainly, “Or something along those lines.”

“Stress? Stress can manifest like this?” Polnareff asks

Avdol nodded, “It can even overwhelm the senses.”

“Okay, which senses are bothering you?” The silver haired man asks.

You clench your eyes closed and point to them and your ears. “Sound and sight.” He says, “What about touch? 

Your answer is a hand moving side to side, ‘a bit’. 

“What if we stopped for an hour or so, just find a place that’s cool and quiet?” He asks.

You nodded. “Okay, can you stand?” He asks. You sign back ‘a bit’ again.

He nods, “Can I take your arm and lead you?” 

You nod.

“Alright, we’re going to take care of you, Y/N, don’t you worry.” He says gently.

AVDOL

Avdol picks up on this SO fast. This man is a reader, not just the book type, but he reads people as a living. He might even notice something is off before you do. Like the amount of people bustling about, the crowds and the people who accidentally bump into you. He’ll talk to Joseph and you and advise a quieter route. Unfortunately, this is the fastest way to get through. A detour would cost the group precious time. Avdol will instead hang at the back of the group with you and ask you what you need. Avdol is also much faster in places like markets because he’s grown up around them. In this case, if he’s sure you’ll be okay for a few minutes, he’ll haggle and find you something that might help.

“Where’s Avdol gone off to?” Polnareff asks Joseph

“He’s picking up a few necessities.” Joseph replies, he’ll meet back up with us in a few minutes, if he doesn’t we’ll assume he’s in danger and move quickly to a quieter location in case there’s a stand user in this crowd. I don’t want civilians involved in anything harmful.” He says gruffly

You walked behind Jotaro, his tall stature making people stare and move around him, maybe in respect or trepidation. You got bumped into less this way. “I’m back, Mr. Joestar.” Avdol seamlessly weaves his way back to the front of the group.

“Welcome back. Y/N is in the back behind Jotaro, maybe he’s good at blocking out the sun.” He grins playfully

Avdol nods in good humour and squeezes onto the back of the group. He walks beside you, giving you a foot of room on one side to ensure nobody brushes against you when you’re already overwhelmed. He holds out a small box, inside there are wax earplugs. And in one of his deep pockets he produces a beaded bracelet, “These are to cancel the noise, and if you need to keep your hands moving, you can rotate the beads in your hand.” You take the gift and look at him with surprise. “I don’t mind.” He says with a smile, “I can see that you’re struggling. We need to build each other up on this journey, so if there’s anything else you’re in need of, just communicate in anyway you find comfortable.” Your smile of gratitude is all he needs. He’ll hang back with you for as long as you need it. 

KAKYOIN

Does this guy get neurodivergence or what? Kakyoin spent a lot of time alone. He didn’t have a lot of friends growing up. He learned to communicate in lots of ways. Verbal wasn’t always his strong suit anyway. If there is anybody who understands isolating one’s self because you are different, it’s him. Jotaro isolates, not because he’s entirely socially awkward, it’s also because he just doesn’t want to. Kakyoin wants people to know who he is, more than that, he knows being a bit different comes with its own experiences and self-honed skills. He’s going to pick up on you retreating back into yourself in the beginning, not as fast as Avdol. He’s not a people reader after all, that being said, he is a people watcher. For years, Kakyoin watched people from afar, this helped him understand other people’s friendships and relationships. He’s also learned a lot. When you’re on your own, you don’t exactly get distracted by other people asking you to join them in things. So he’s read quite a bit, even on neurodivergence. He can spot the overload in a few minutes and get into action. He gets up from the seat on the train he’s in and sits next to you.

“Are you okay, Y/N?”

No answer. “Is it stress, or maybe are you just overwhelmed?”

You looked up at him, not expecting him to understand.

“Overwhelmed?”

You nod and stare at the ground.

“Is there anything I can do?” 

You have a moment to think, but you’ve gone nonverbal at this point, and realize you can’t really act out what you need because it’s a bit complex.

“Hmm…” Kakyoin thinks for a monent and then pulls out a notepad from his uniform

You look at him quizzically. 

“I’m a student, I always have this on me to take notes.”

You smile up at him.

“Here.” He hands it to you, along with a pen.

You jot some things down.

“Too bright, too many sounds, chairs bad texture.” 

“Yeah, I bet there’s years worth of dust in these.” He chuckles, “I have a scarf, maybe we can put that around your eyes? Or your ears like earmuffs?” 

You nod and jot something else down, “Is the scarf soft?”

“Yes, it is. My mom bought it for me when we travelled to Egypt the first time.” He smiles and goes to get the scarf. 

He comes back and sits next to you, “If you need anything else, write it down for me, and I’ll be happy to get it.” He relaxes in the seat next to you, “Promise.”

Hi hello. I've been wondering something about the ending of this week's episode of The Sign and since you did that analysis on the lighting in the P&T sex scenes, I was wondering if I could pick your brain about it. The ending scene felt a bit sudden and while I can get behind the thought that they are both acting on emotions and not really thinking about things, I can't help but wonder. Is there either a scene missing, like we're not getting the full picture? Or is it even fully real? Since, and here's the lighting part that made me wonder, we only see a bokeh-ish effect on the scene (not even as full bokeh as earlier scenes though) but not Tharns bright pinkish colors. Idk, I might be wayyy off base and the scene has just a bokeh-ish effect bc the scene is driven by Phaya or bc of something else entirely, but I needed the thought out of my head. Hope you don't mind!

Thanks for reaching out! My interpretation of the final scene with Phaya coming to see Tharn and them two fucking is real, for a few reasons a) now that Phaya and Tharn can actually fuck whenever they want to, they dont need to be imaginging it and b) if it were a dream I do not think we would have seen Phaya looking as corpse-like as he did when he knocked on the door. We have had moments of reality where we have only had Phaya's bokeh effect in a real physical intimacy situation (goodnight kiss in Nong Khai) and moments where we have only had Tharn's coloring effect in real physical intimacy situations (bathroom).

Now, personally, when handled well I love a good sex as affirmation moment, and would have loved Phaya and Tharn having sex as a way for Phaya to affirm to Tharn that he is alive and that he is staying by his side. I would posit the reason that we only get Phaya's bokeh effect here is because he has become enlightened about Wansa and Tharn and so his emotions are the ones spilling out, his need to pleasure Tharn is the primary emotion. I would also be comfortable saying that Tharn ran with it because he has had a series of incredibly emotionally disastrous days where he was really not sure if Phaya was going to live or die and having Phaya here and physical with him he would naturally melt right in to the sexual intimacy with Phaya as well. And I do think that is what they ultimately were going for here. However, I think we missed out on a lot of strong emotions and clarity from this moment because of editing issues.

From my perspective, The Sign has been suffering from a storyboarding and editing issue for weeks now and so I think the confusion about whether or not this was real, is a very valid question to have. I especially think the confusion around this scene because of its suddenness is incredibly understandable and for me stems primarily from weak editing and writing around the scene. I can't know what they have and have not filmed, I can't know what they did or did not cut, but I know there is often a ridiculously large amount of content that is made and that must be trimmed down to fit inside a reasonable episode length. It is totally possible that they filmed a longer scene and trimmed it down, it is totally possible that this was the intended pathway from the beginning. Either way, Episode 9 was one of the more legible and cohesive episode we've had in weeks, but confusion still lingers because The Sign continues to miss the mark on maintaining the most coherent narrative possible.

TL;DR I think the scene is real and the uncertainty stems from poor editing.

so i havent really be keeping up with the TOTA Takeover (i was watching doctor who all day everyday) BUT i will do this last one.

i think the show is wonderful. it discusses mental illnesses without making it the entire plot or entire personality of characters. it displays it realistically and doesnt romanticise (by this i mean they didnt just show positive things or ignore it completely) or... obsess over it, i suppose. it wasnt completely focused on the characters "flaws" or illness. while they were mentioned, they actually still made the characters relatable and realistic, as opposed to (imo) Heartstopper, which felt to me like it fetished queer people, but thats a discussion for another day.

it was nice for a change in media, because its not often that you get media from the perspective of someone outside of the mental hospital willingly going inside because they genuinely enjoy being there and the people there. thats one of the reasons i love Eddie, he isnt afraid of what people will say about his new job, or if he is, its not stopping him even though (im pretty sure?) he doesnt get paid for it. hes a kind and lovable protagonist and it was interesting to have his side and opinions on things.

the side characters (i suppose thats what they are) are easy to fall in love with because they have so much depth and are genuinely interesting as a whole. it had, i think, important representation of Rosalie's OCD. it was important representation because it doesnt seem like we get a lot of OCD in media anymore (not that we ever really did, at least not in the things ive watched). i personally dont know much about the disorder but the representation still felt... correct, i suppose, to someone who has little to no knowledge, which is still a good sign because it means it was easy to understand and, yes, still seemed realistic. it was easy to feel bad for Rosalie because of her story and because she was treated and written as a real person.

have you ever watched something and thought, "this character is a bit cardboard-esque"? doesnt it make it tricky to actually feel bad for the character in question? its difficult to sympathise or empathise with someone who is uninteresting or unrealistically written. like in the Twilight movies, for an example. its difficult to feel bad for Bella because shes a kind of basic protagonist. she has simple wants and has simple struggles. whereas in TOTA, the characters have different wants than is usually displayed. like Campbell for example. he wants to be a radio show host and whats stopping him? his struggle to find a place that wants to take him and, i would say, his fathers disapproval. while Campbell isnt openly warm with his father, its still difficult for Campbell to ignore him because its his dad, the man who was there, but not necessarily there for him, all his life. its still difficult to get over someone whos supposed to love and support you telling you that you wont be able to do something.

Campbell is another example of a well written character. it was easy for me to love him, and not just because he was played by DT. he was a funny character without just being comedic relief. his bipolar disorder was displayed well according to me, someone with again, little to no knowledge in the subject. it was nice to have a character who has specific wants that are different from other characters in other medias. he was interesting because he was, say it with me, written as a real person. Campbell was easy to love because he was written and played like someone i would personally want to be friends with. hes funny, caring, friendly, unique, and protective. he sort of immediately likes Eddie and is friendly and talkative with the older man. he doesnt hold back and doesnt bite his tongue when he wants to say something.

TOTA was silly and light hearted while still bringing up important subjects that i dont think a lot of media is willing to bring up. i think, unfortunately, it might have been before its time. i think if it was made recently or in recent years, a lot more people would watch it and talk about it. i think its a beautiful show that, while not laying too heavily on it, discusses mental illness in a positive way. it doesnt act like the characters disorders are flaws, it treats it as something the characters have that might make them unsatisfactory to other people but not like it is unsatisfactory and i think it was lovely.

overall, i thoroughly enjoyed watching TOTA. it was different from most things i watch but not in a way where i was reluctant to watch more and only liked it at the end. i thought the ending was brilliant, even if it wasnt a massive everyone-got-their-way sort of ending. it was honestly nice to have media that had only two characters that i can think of getting what they want. TOTA had some sad parts that were so well written i cried. and if something bad happened to a character (haha... ha... hm), i cared about the character and was upset because they were well written and i loved them.

i know i used the words "well written" and "realistic" so many times, but the main things that struck me about TOTA were those two things. while i love sci fi and fantasy, its nice to have a show that felt real, like it actually happened. i loved the characters and the plot. the writing was superb. its an amazing show that more people should watch.

I'm curious, in one of your posts you said the way you classpect is very personal, what do you do? What questions do you ask?

In putting my thoughts down to answer your ask, I ended up making a breakthrough in how I classpect.

Previously, the methods I used ended up being quite personal, (which all previous parties involved with my classpecting shenanigans were alright with, since they are my friends whom I've known for a long time,) but I cannot ask for such familiarity from strangers online and I would expect many are not willing to share such personal things with a stranger online either. (On top of that, I am not a therapist, and I am certainly not being paid to listen to a stranger's trauma. Apologies, but no.)

Now, however, I can gauge what a person's classpect might likely be with the authentic answers to six questions, no invasive methods needed. Thank you, truly, for sending this ask.

The process I previously used required personal introspection from the person involved to be shared with me. The process I use now still requires personal introspection, but it is not required to be shared with me; only through the authentic answers to these questions.

It is, essentially, an interrogation with yourself. If the answers are shared with me, I can only point you in the directions I noticed within your answers. It will ultimately be you who decides what fits the most.

As well, you may have noticed I am using the word "authentic" instead of "honest". When analyzing the answers to these questions, I did not just take the answers into account; I also took the way the answer was phrased into account, such as certain words used over others, and how they interpreted what the question was asking within their answers. Even the attitude of the person answering and how they treated the questions with the tone of their answers was something I took into account. It is all a tell of aspect and class; that is why the answers must be authentic. Otherwise, it may obscure the true results.

(One notable example, when testing these questions with a less familiar group chat, a Knight of Void (Actively Skilled with Secrets), whose inverse is Rogue of Light (Passive Giver of Knowledge), sent me essay long paragraph answers to each question asked. Most others sent me one to two word answers and/or one to two sentences.)

Before I get into the questions, here are some notes about aspects and classes I've noticed when classpecting.

Due to the nature of classes, aspect can be obscured or otherwise hard to tell. Those of the active classes (direct relationship with aspect) find it easier to pin down an aspect and class, and those of the passive classes (indirect relationship with aspect) find it more difficult to pin down both an aspect and a class. However, the way classes interact with each other can actually help pin down one's aspect.

Like aspects, each class has its own inverse class as well. These inverse classes, when paired with their aspects, make for an inverse classpect. This inverse classpect is arguably extremely crucial, and it is an angle I've taken for a different perspective when classpecting, as it can provide startlingly meaningful insight. Understanding the push and pull between not only aspects and inverse aspects, but also between classes and inverse classes, has proven to be the most accurate way I've found to determine a classpect.

As a Seer of Heart (Passive Study of Identity), my inverse is Witch of Mind (Actively Embodies Logic). The way I approach this blog and classpecting as a whole is from a very logical standpoint. On the surface level, one wouldn't classify me as a Heart player, but from the angle of an inverse Witch of Mind, it makes more sense. (also, i dont usually type the way i do on this blog when im with my friends, it is literally only when im seriously trying to study something. buuut i do tend to actively think rationally when faced with A Challenge (typically a social one,,,), so that counts towards it i think. being a system/plural probably has something more to do with that. idk.)

I would advise, if you're having trouble pinning down an aspect for yourself, to narrow it down to aspect-pairs instead of just a single aspect; which inverse of your potential aspects fits you the most? Light-Void, Heart-Mind, Time-Space, Blood-Breath, Life-Doom, Rage-Hope. Eliminating your choices down to two potential aspects instead of one, especially out of a pool of twelve, will typically reap better results. (Unfortunately, this may not work for Sylphs, Maids, Princes, and Bards. Those of those four classes will have to account for their love and hatred/fear of their aspect and its inverse.)

Time for a rant on a beautiful au I found, I have escaped containment and none can stop me

@asleepyy's amazing Oopsie!Omens comic currently has me in a chokehold (in a good way) so now imma write a mini essay overanalyzing characterization and story points :] (go read it if you haven't it's right here)

The story they've crafted is incredible, and the view shift is a fascinating perspective. I recommend yall read it if you get the chance.

I just wanna go off about the potential endings that this entire story prompts. (This is WAAAAY far away in the comic, considering where they are in the plot currently, but this is about the end of S2 of the actual show, so beware spoilers)

If it goes according to how the show did, the Metatron is going to offer to return them both to Heaven, as well as restore Azazel's angelic form.

But my question now is, who is he going to ask? Many of the conversations had between characters, between the show and this comic, have been almost interchangeable between Azazel and Jophiel.

If he asks Jophiel, the answer is likely going to be 'I think the fuck not, don't ever talk to me again'.

By this point he's well aware of their manipulative tactics, and there's no way he would ever force himself or Azazel to go back to that.

But if that happened, I don't think Azazel would confess when Jophiel returns to the bookshop. Theyre too careful, too reserved. They like things as they are, and any thoughts to change that is awfully frightening. I don't think Aziraphale would have ever brought himself to confess first either, in the show. That's just not his style.

Conversely, (and in my opinion far more likely to happen,)

If he asks Azazel, and offers to restore their Angelic status and accept them back to Heaven (likely under the guise that some errors were found in paperwork or something, and that their good nature qualifies them to return), the situation becomes a bit more sensitive.

First of all, if that happened I'd be absolutely convinced that it was a trap,

And second, more importantly, Azazel loves God. They love Heaven. They still believe in kindness and goodness and wish for nothing more than a peaceful existence. If they had an opportunity to go back to that, I've no doubt they'd want to accept it, provided Jophiel came along.

"He said he could appoint me to be an angel. We could go back to Heaven and... and everything, like the old times. Only, even nicer."

Azazel has always been loyal to Heaven above all, it seems. They still believe in hope and love and all the things angels are meant to be. Of course they would jump at the chance to return to a place where they believe theyre cared about.

And it'd make Jophiel's refusal hurt that much worse. It would make Azazel's pleading that much more painful to bear. Because we know that heaven isn't as good as they want it to be. Jophiel knows it too. Azazel isn't naiive, theyre simply too kind for their own good. They look for the good in places where there's hardly any to be found. They always have.

"Well, obviously you said no to Hell, they're the bad guys. But Heaven... Well, it's the side of truth, of light, of good."

"When Heaven ends life here on Earth, it'll be just as dead as if Hell ended it.

Tell me you said no."

Jophiel would be pleading, begging Azazel to open their eyes, to see things as they are, and understand that Heaven isn't going to be what they want. It's still going to be cruel and cold and unforgiving, just like it was when they were Cast Out.

"Jophiel, come back! To Heaven! Work with me! We can be together! Angels...doing good!"

Isn't that what they always wanted? Theyve been burned (literally) by them, more times than can be counted, yet they still turn to God. They still retain Faith in the ones who abandoned them, truly trapped in this manipulative, abusive relationship.

"I dont think you understand what I'm offering you."

"I think I understand a whole lot better than you do."

And in the end...after the Kiss, at least if it's aligned with some of the other parallels in the comic, Azazel's last words to the angel will be

"...Forgive me."

(Not to mention, like i said before it's probably a trap, since it's been made clear that Heaven isn't a fan of Azazel anyway, if they go with them, Jophiel probably needs to come to their rescue afterward)

BUT THEN THERES ANOTHER POINT

Many theories are suggesting that, unseen to us, Metatron also threatened Crowley's soul, which is why Aziraphale was so desperate to have Crowley listen.

If we went with that direction,

Jophiel would be shocked when the Metatron says so. He would be afraid. He wouldn't know what to do. There wouldn't be much of another option, and he would be completely powerless to stop it from happening. In his mind he'd have no choice but to accept, and he'd likely be forced to submission in Heaven, unable to reveal the truth to Azazel, lest they be destroyed. The restored angel would be thrilled and so happy to be close to God again, and has no idea what kind of danger they're in, all riding on Jophiel's silence.

Azazel would be terrified. Jophiel was the first and likely only character to ever treat them like an equal. The idea of losing him would likely destroy them from the inside. They'd be more desperate than ever to have Jophiel join them, wanting to protect him like they've always tried to. Also, if this were the case they're likely wise to heaven's true intentions by now.

I dunno about you but I'm quite excited for my soul to be utterly s h a t t e r e d when that part happens

As a nodal, I want to agree and disagree about "draining" yang people. They do come to us first usually, they see that we don't show interest even when we like them (at least ketu ruled moons) and they simply stop giving a fuck. I think its possible that in some cases we drain them, but I also feel like they are expecting us to show a lot of interest and as someone else said, nodals are used to be gatekeepers (moon people too) of stuff, including feelings. We dont have light to give anyway. I find that we can drain solars as much as they can overwhelm nodals. I always hear nodals complaining about solar people overwhelming them with their energy. So at one point i feel like it's mutual, they may feel like nodals drain them but we feel like they are too much? Idk if that makes sense to other nodals reading this. I know a few solars who I really love and all but I try to stay away because I know if I get into a convo with them they will either start asking a bunch of questions or they will start talking about themselves to the point I will be exhausted. Especially uttara ashadhas, I find all of them to be too intense for me, although i had and still have great friendships with them. when Krittikas are angry for example, I just stand there and dont have any idea of what to do. I find it so hard to give a fuck about things so I dont understand why they're angry and they end up making me tired when they keep talking about the same frustrations over and over.

My Response to Watcher's Apology

Yesterday, Watcher released an apology video regarding their decision to move all their content to a new streaming service which most people cant afford even at 6 dollars a month. And personally speaking, I was pretty satisfied with it. I couldnt see them scrapping the streaming service idea entirely because its definetly too late in the game to do that, but they comprise on certian, like having episodes come out on Watcher the service, releasing onto Youtube much later, and having Patreon backers use the service for free (which I didnt know was not a thing for Patreon backers initially which is kind of alarming). I'd say overall, they did a good job with their apology. At least in my opinion. Im pretty sure others might look at it differently or maybe Im probably for forgiving people for who do bad things and thus more likely to be at the receiving end of a toxic friendship/relationship in the future......

I will say though, this whole situation has made going to back their old content (from Watcher and Buzzfeed) a lot more awkward. Its one of those things where a creator you like does something bad and watching content made before they did the bad thing wrong, and you cant separate the art from the artist because you liked their content for them mostly. Its kind of like when I rewatched old Achievement Hunter stuff right when the Ryan Haywood drama happened. Granted, what Watcher did was far tamer than that scenario. But its still bad, and portrays the guys in a negative light. Some people I've seen who've covered this, from Sensative Society to Jacksfilms (who released a parody of their apology literally within a couple of hours of the upload which I wont ever find not funny) have portrayed them as greedy for this move, and as someone who could view this from the perspective of an outsider, I can understand that. But like I had mentioned in my original post, I sympathized with why they felt like Youtube wasnt for them, but (like I said) this was the worst solution to that quandary they could've made. Speaking of commentators, I've also been avoiding that type of content just because how negatively effected by this whole drama. The fact this happened right around the time I was on a Buzzfeed Unsolved binge didn't help. This whole thing has made me so upset that I've just been avoiding sort of content revolving Watcher or Buzzfeed Unsolved period. I dont really know what else to say here, this whole thing sucks and I wish it never happened.

However, I think this is a feeling that will change, as time goes by and people move on from this drama. I think that Watcher will be able to bounce after this whole thing dies down, especially because this is not as bad as Ryan Bergara diddling a kid or Shane Madej........idk awakening into his demon form or something. But, I think this will be something that will haunt them going forward pretty much since the bad things you do online will stay online......forever

One of my friends and players just brought something up to me that I think is a discussion that should be had and that is:

Should white people make ocs that are poc in ttrpgs

She sent me two ticktocks here and here where two poc talk about how it makes them uncomfortable when white people play as poc in ttrpgs and she was freaking out because her oc from the last 3-4 years in our campaign is mix raced. My friend is also mix raced but white passing and she was afraid she was offending people.

So, I just wanna give my perspective from observing this same discussion in other writing communities - because it is essentially the same discussion of whether or not white people can write poc in novels, video game, movies, etc because it all comes down to aesthetic appropriation.

Now, if any poc would like to add their own thoughts and experiences with this please do, your voices are much more important than mine - a white person - so I'm going to put my thoughts under a cut. I'm basically going to talk about my own observations within the fantasy genre as a whole when it comes to ethnicity and race and the patterns I've seen and how that translates into the ttrpg medium. Cheers :D

So, the main problem I've seen brought up when white people try to be inclusive by adding poc in their stories is that their inclusion stops at aesthetics. A poc is still written with the mindset of a white person. Changing the ethnicity of a character changes nothing about them and - many times - their ethnicity isn't even clear. They are south Asian but of which country? Which region? South Asians are an incredibly diverse ethnic group just like Afrians or Central/South Americans. If you can swap the ethnicity of a character without changing anything about them, then you aren't actually making good representation, you are doing the bare minimum of preventing an all white cast. It's 2023, we should hold ourselves and each other to higher standards.

Now, when it comes to fantasy stories, there is a bit of a problem. The worlds within fantasy settings become so much smaller because humans often share the setting with nonhumans such as elves, dwarves, gnomes, etc. This means humans are often turned into a european monolith - or something very close to it - while other real world ethnicities are shoved onto fantasy lineages (often times still flavors of european).

I dont think I need to point out why this is a problem. Humans continue using the aesthetics of nonwhite ethnicities but completely divorced of their culture and context. This is the definition of appropriation. I can think of dozens of fantasy stories from various mediums where there would be no change if a poc was white because their ethnicity has no impact on their characterization - as seen with various video game characters who's skin becomes lighter and lighter through every installment or has dark skinned concept art and a light skinned final product.

You want your fantasy setting to be a mixing pot of cultures and ethnicities? Ok, look at the US and how all of these different cultures remain intact even after generations. Yes, there is a level of assimilation but even fourth gen Mexican immigrants are still influenced their culture. Mix raced people have their own unique struggles and cultural experiences. Every country in the world has their own unique mixing pot of cultures and ethnicities. No country is a monolith as that would require committing cultural and/or ethnic genocide to everyone who does not fit the predestined mold.

A setting can have a mixing pot of cultures without racism or prejudice. You can have a human civilization that isn't a monolith. Don't be afraid to research different cultures to represent them with respect. Not only will it make your setting feel more immersive, it will give you a deeper understanding and respect for people irl.

It's always boggled my mind when people say irl race doesn't matter in fantasy then immediately turn around with fantasy racism like... seriously? The beauty of humanity is how diverse our cultures are and yet you'd rather dismiss this beauty over using the violence of prejudice and racism as cheap conflict in your story.

If you actually want to be inclusive in your fantasy stories, do research. Talk to poc of the ethnicity you are trying to represent.

If you are a player wanting to make an oc that is a different ethnicity than you - consider why? Does the character's physical appearance actually matter to their story? Are you willing to put in the work to represent this character's culture and respect the irl culture and people you are drawing from? Is this even your story to tell? If your answer to any of these questions is no, then maybe you should rethink some things.

I don't have the answer on whether or not white people should be allowed to make their oc a person of color but I think this question is indicative of a much larger problem within the fantasy genre of aesthetic appropriation and surface level representation of poc. I don't have any answers - other than put more effort into representing different ethnicities and cultures which its whole own can of worms- but its a conversation that should be had.

I would love to hear other people's thoughts and feel free to correct me or add your own experiences with this. I want to learn so I can write better representation in my stories and understand different perspectives better. Cheers :D

yeah that makes sense and is very well put tbh. i think its admittedly very hard for me to think about this rationally because of the effects these things have when done irl and the fact that everyone ive known to indulge these fantasies in private either wants to or attempts to do it in real life. out of curiosity, and related to the topic, how do you feel about fetish art depicting these things posted publicly. i.e lolicon art or incest fic. and do you think the people who dont want to play thought police but still criticize or shame people for drawing these things in a fetishistic light are hypocritical or does putting it into the public as a piece of art open it to that inherently?

i dont like the existence of that kind of art, and do not want to be exposed to it, but if it involves no real life children/animals/other living things that didn’t/can’t consent to sex or involvement in the portrayal thereof, then morally i cannot argue for it to be restricted further than being properly tagged with content warnings to keep people who don’t want to, or should not be exposed to it from stumbling on it because it’s out in the open with no warnings. i do think it’s a bit hypocritical to criticise this art’s very existence and being shared while claiming to be against thought crime and to support autonomy, and i think it reflects badly on a person regardless of whether they claim these beliefs or not for someone to criticise this art when it a) is properly tagged to be easily filtered out so that children and anyone else who wishes not to be exposed to it will not see it, and b) every real, living party involved in making it was an adult human being who consented to be involved without coercion/intoxication. i understand why that perspective is so prevalent, though, but i do not agree. like i said, i base my ideology on autonomy and harm reduction—the only reason i would want to infringe on someone’s autonomy is to stop them from harming another living thing via action.

I have an intimate awareness of time even without a clock

As far as we can tell paradox space is still out there but is functionally unreachable at the current moment due to technological restraints

Okay but for real, even putting aside the fact that I innately refuse to believe "I found a way to fix the game" stories, especially with the addendum of "the game fixed itself mysteriously", I do have to interrogate the intention behind sending this ask. It can't help anyone because it happened randomly, it double-can't help me because I am not even in a position to receive random twists of fate. And ending it off with the random pitiable "I wish I could help you"? Every so often some guy will troll around by claiming they beat the game, say everyone else has a "skill issue" or is "not seeing the bigger picture which is why you're stuck there", and then starts making crass comments about how we're stuck standing in a circle and providing genetic material to a frog while they're going to spend the rest of their immortal life in their new universe being fed grapes and receiving blowjobs from their followers (and then they get banned), and I have to say, at least the troll posts are funny.

Even if this is true and you are now free from the game >assuming that a new SBURB session can't or won't be initiated in this new world, I cannot really help you acclimate to living a new life in a normal world, nor can I direct you to a resource that can do the same, because nobody has experienced this. The closest you'll get is guys with absurdly long (we're talking around three years) pre-Sessions, and even then they know the game is about to begin on some level, even if they don't know when, and that dread kind of characterizes the entire text. So enjoy that I guess.
