ok so HI. hi. my old tutorial pisses me off so i will make a new one

i made a guy whose sole purpose is to be shaded so dont worry he likes it. and his name. his name will be mr. Boob. mr boob does not have to be blue

theres probably way better explanations of how to do it but unfortunately trying to "emulate" shading does ask you to somewhat understand ur character in a 3d way. like what would the 2d shape be if you "sliced" it? mr boob is made of so many circles. his tail also does a kind of weird perspective foreshortening thing because its pointing at you. is this being conveyed

you obviuously dont have to draw a horrendous grid on your characters skin to do this . BUT it helps you put down (or at least envision) the lines of the form shading :

dont worry about cast shadows or the shading color because this is FORM SHADOW time only. think about what surfaces of the character are obviously facing away from the light source and put down the "separation line" of the shading based on that. thr most important thing is that youre trying to separate light from dark

im going to pick the first one for cast shadows bc it will be the most obvious to me

ok so. his ears and snout are blocking other surfaces of his body from the light, which means a shadow is cast!!!! bam. i saw someone describe cast shadows as what the light's pov "can't see." his entire body is putting down a cast shadow on the ground too

im impatient so i blended the form shadows now. its usually the easiest to just NOT blend cast shadows as a way of conveying that they are still cast shadows. but you can still blend them if you want to show "distance" between the obstruction and the surface its blocking. but its just a way of saying form and cast shadows should not be treated the same even if their softness coincides

im going to lump reflection and ambient light together because theyre like. similar. reflections dont just happen in mirrors

since the sky is blue, making the ambient lighting, i tinged mr. boobs existing shadow to be a bit blue. (*this is kind of important because it can help you decide a shading color, which should USUALLY be based on the environment) (unless your character is just in the transparent void then it doesnt matter)

since the ground is pink, i made pink light bounce off of him. pointed and labelled. i dont rlly know how to go more in depth than that

contact shadows are literally shadows formed from direct-touching contact. very little light can reach in there, even from how reflections disperse, which means youre free to use the darkest color available (black). in this case mr. boob is making contact with the floor. because he is sitting on the floor.

i touched him up a bit and wow!!!!!!!!!! look at mr. boob!!! he is so beautifully sculpted.

and one more thing

thats right. i made mr boob PINK. hes fucking ruined now. just kidding i would never say that to him

what im trying to convey here (its the easiest with really light colors) is a transitional color. this can also show subsurface scattering depending on how you use it which is fun to look at. the mistake i made on my last tutorial was "Just pick a warm saturated color!" which is really wrong in examples like Blue mr boob. because it would be weird to use a warm color to transition from blue to blue.

if you have a character that isn't bright enough then obviously the shadows wont be as visible. its BEST to bring more attention to highlights and reflections to reveal the form a bit. they play the biggest role with darker colors

thats all i can think of. fun things to look up:

structuralization + contour lines + foreshortening etc. 3d lingo

form shadows

cast shadows

ambient light

contact shadows

subsurface scattering

im also just speaking out of my ass otherwise. i didnt look up any of these terms until the end now im inferring and hoping i got them right

for day 2 of sonic pride week organized by @sonicpridecorner i went with the hedgehog himself. didnt really have to think much abt the choice - as soon as i read "inspired" my mind went "sonic is an inspiration"

[i got a bit talkative about my relationship with sonic and being aroace so im leaving that under the cut]

i really love aroace sonic headcanon as an aroace person myself - i know a lot of people like to ship him and i dont mind seeing him in ships that much, but aroace reading became my favorite as soon as i rejoined the fandom

a lot of media i consumed when i was younger was heavy on crushes, dating, etc. even the first time i was in sonic fandom, archie focused on romance and the fandom just loved shipping. i remember that i shipped some popular ships not really because i liked them but just to not feel left out, even if i wasnt as active in fandom spaces

dont get me wrong, i do like shipping and romance, it just.. depends on characters. so in hindsight, having a character like sonic - who i know clearly see as an aroace - its kinda obvious why i was never as into sonamy as i tried to be. as im older, having characters who can just exist without a need of romantic relationship, hits different

when i first found out im ace, i didnt mind. i never cared for sex, so whatever. i kinda knew back then that im on aromantic spectrum too, but it was hard to accept. when i could no longer deny it i grieved. because i stil craved romance. the love everyone thought was so special. i cried, felt awful and.. moved on. it took time but i felt better with the label

rejoing sonic fandom - older, better at reading into stuff and understanding english - i got a fresher perspective on sonic. i still recognized him as the character i liked, but with that newfound understanding of his character, i gained a stronger appriciation of him. i could relate a bit more, sorta. with the aroace reading, i saw him in a new light - maybe even as an aspiration. someone who can enjoy themselves to the fullest without romantic love. someone who can appriciate platonic love

because god knows i still sometimes feel awful knowing that ill likely never fall in love. but a character i admire doesnt. a character i admire doesnt even spare a thought for romance. so maybe i can too, one day

i hope that makes sense. i always related more to tails as a kid - i still do, but sonic was still a big inspiration to me when i was 11 and older. and ig that is one of the ways he inspires me all these years later - to be proud in who i am, to just let myself be

Hii, I saw your latest post and your art style is so pretty?? What?? I have a question though. How do you do the paint one? Or rendering in general. Like genuinely, I have a problem with rendering and I can't seem to quite understand it on my own. Do you just start with flat colors? Do you do lineart or colors right after the sketch? Is the "lineart" just added later? Painted over? Erased to give thinner and thicker lines?? I'm really curious!!

hi! im not the best painter tbh! though i do have a background in painting but ill try my best to explain

diff artists have different approaches to how they paint but generally yes, you would start out with big shapes first and then go into the details - work big picture first. like, if you squint and the drawing makes sense in terms of value and colour and shape, youre on the right path.

i can kinda show this with a warmup in-class speedpaint exercise we did a couple weeks ago where we were tasked with painting an eye in about 30 minutes (i was late and only had 20 lol)

luckily ive got the layers for this. i start of with a base layer, kind of like a underpaint layer since that's how i personally learned to paint traditionally. i did have a sketch before laying down this base layer under it but i ended up using it for final rendering details lol

after that i started laying down the big blocks of colour. i wasn't necessarily aiming for complete colour accuracy here, i just wanted to match the value. i chose a pink underlayer to influence my colour choices because the underlayer will peak through the blocks of colour i paint over it

and then (forgive me if this seems like "draw the rest of the owl" in terms of progression) but this is where i started going in with finer detail. i did the rest of the render on the sketch layer i had so you can see some of the lines from the sketch here

here's the layers completely seperate from each other

even for the flat colour version of my character, i had an underpaint layer! i used yellow and orange since i wanted her colours to be warm and used a semi-opaque brush to put her colours in rather than using a completely opaque brush

when i wanted to do the painted version, i put the lineart on multiply and reduced the opacity and brushed in some some quick shadows on seperate layer on hard light mode to give me a good base to start painting with

and then i did all the rendering and details on a new layer ontop of everything. i keep the lineart light so i can paint over it easily and also colour pick from it when i want a more distinct line to seperate certain shapes. i unfortunately dont know how to explain this part because a lot of this is intuitive to me and i'm still learning. but you gotta make use of different types of "edges" in painting, and you would generally have more contrast in the focal point of your painting than in other places to draw the eye to that point. i suggest researching the use of edges in painting if you really wanna learn more - because im a terrible teacher haha

for fun here's what the rendering layer for this one looks like on its own and the finished thing for comparison

there's other things you need to learn too, like bounce light, atmospheric perspective, ambient occlusion... and colour theory is always important! i could go on for a long time. there's a lot of pieces to the puzzle and it may seem overwhelming but there's tons of resources online and it will all become second nature to you as you keep practicing

HOW TO DETACH FROM YOUR CR?

Hi, so to start, this is my way of doing this, and in my personal experience, being too attached to this reality is what mainly holds me back. I care too much about my experience in here, and I act like this is the dominant reality when it's not. I used to act like this was the "real" reality, and my perspective for other realities was like they're not real. But the truth is that there's no such thing as the "main" or "real" reality. Other realities are as real as this one. So, the first step in detaching should be comprehending and claiming this as the truth. I don't wanna keep this long so let's get into steps:

1-NPC Mode

۶ৎ Start thinking of this reality like it's a simulation. Think of other people like they're npcs, and everyone is sticking by their scripts. Be aware, and if you're not act like you are. When you're feeling a strong emotion, like sadness or fear, don't let it get over you, remind yourself that this reality isn't temporary and it doesn't hold any power over you. You can always choose your reality. And now don't get me wrong of course, it's normal that you get affected by the things happening here, but don't forget that at the end of the day, you control your emotions, don't let your emotions rule you.

2- Reality Check

۶ৎ During the day do reality checks at least every hour or so. Ask yourself questions like "Is this real or am I dreaming?", "This feels wrong. I already shifted". Convince yourself that you already shifted and the reality is just catching up. Change how you react to things. When something happens just stop and think "This doesn't matter i already left this reality." Don't forget this isn't about convincing yourself it's about convincing your brain and subconscious.

3- Memory Glitch

۶ৎ When you wake up don't move immediately. Close your eyes and just exist for a second. When you first wake up for a few seconds you're still in that in-between state so use this to your advantage. Take a few deep breaths and repeat affirmations. Claim that you're pure consciousness and nothing holds you back. You decide what reality you're in.

4- Mirror Dissociation

۶ৎ When you're in your room alone look at yourself in the mirror. Keep staring at your reflection until it starts slightly "off" and believe me it will. Tell yourself "This is not my actual body. This is just a borrowed vessel that I need to take care of while I'm in this reality" Don't forget you're pure void. Your body is not you what makes you, you is your consciousness. Imagine your reflection is glitching with your DR self. See them and if you dont make yourself believe you're seeing them.

5- Candle Method

۶ৎ Take a candle. Every candle color has a different meaning. I usually use white since it symbolizes things like peace, inner calm and spirituality. First write your DR self a letter and put it under the candle then light your candle and feel it's energy, put your hands above it and feel you're connectiong to your DR self. Repeat affirmations and imagine your candle as it's a portal connecting you and your dr self.

Flames has meaning; strong movements usually means strong energy present, still flame means your energy is aligned, sudden flickering usually stands for doubts or energy shifting.

You can also ask yes/no questions to your candle and use it as a pendulum.

Before you blow your candle repeat and affirmation and pour the wax in cold water, let it cool and look at the shape. They all have meanings. If you don't understand what a shape or symbol means you can use Google or an AI tool to analyze it.

So it was all for today. These are things that I do and I believe it actually helps me. Also I guess I went a bit off-topic in some places so sorry for that. Take care, happy shifting:))

I cant get john walker and his controversial younger girlfriend out of my head. She's of legal age, of course (21)... its just weird if you look at it from an outside perspective. But once you see the love they have for one another, it makes it better. (Just don't tell them the relationship started because you were both horny and drunk and let your aching desires take hold that one night)

Like he'd be so sweet and gentle with her, constantly bringing her presents, always planning the dates, sending her reassuring texts after not texting back (hes the kinda person to reply in his head and not actually text back). He remembers things about her. Like her favorite drink, the fridge will often be stocked with it. He knows on rainy days you dont want to do anything, so when it starts raining he cancels all plans for them both. He tries to teach her football, getting a little to into it and accidentally pushes her to hard. He's apologizing the rest of the week. Making it up to you anyway he can, even after you told him it was fine. he gets you flowers once a week on a random day, just because you said you liked receiving flowers once. He will carry you around, even if you dont ask. He'll just scoop you up and hold you, kissing your cheek and shoulders until you giggle and squirm out of his grip. Your feet hurt, well thats fine he'll carry you and your shoes. He reads all the books you tell him you like, all the movies, listens to your favorite songs, all so he can understand what your talking about and share your excitement. He won't get social media though, no matter how much you want him to get tiktok so you can send him stupid videos you reference all the time.

He's so soft in and out of the bedroom... but he does like to play into the age thing a bit more than he'd care to admit. He cant help it, seeing you beneath him, red and sweaty as he pounds into you. Your whimpers and whines as you get close. It drives him mad. Your so small compared to him, breakable, and it excites him. Normally he goes slow, talking you through it everytime, holding your hand as he slowly inches deeper into you. Telling you how tight you are, how full hes gonna make his baby girl. He likes to whisper sweet nothings into you ear as he slowly fucks you, deep and hard. Not fast, but very deep, and hard enough to feel him bruising your cervix.

Buuuut sometimes he likes to me mean, to be rough. With your permission and safe words in place he goes crazy. Like a complete switch from his normal sweet self. hihi not a creature au ask sorry but do u have any tips to improving art skills? /gen, second question how did u get into digital art?

dont be sorry the asks are for anything really

my biggest tip is pretty boring and has been said a billion times probably but you u fortunately need to do the boring basics. you can go anywhere you want from there and its gonna be much easier. ex. - drawing alot of boring 3d shapes in dofferent types of perspective. boom now you can draw backgrounds. drawing from models in realism  (live ones are better but photos are great too). boom now you have the skill and knowledge on how the human body works and can play around with it to develop ur own art style. greyscale form practice (like shading cubes or drapery or still life). boom u understand how light and shadow works. the hardest thing really (imo) is learning colour. me personally, traditional painting (acrylic, oil, guache, tempera) helped the most (again ALOT of still life). but learning colour theory, or just fucking around with whatever colour medium you like until it looks good is also very helpful. so again basics are really important.

next thing is, use resources. theres so many free  art resources out there and theyre very helpful. my personal fav lately are quickposes and david finch on youtube. use refs, if needed take ur own.

also mindset stuff like being okay with making "bad" drawings. shitty sketches, wierd colour xombinations, wonky perspective. making art is not abt not making mistakes, but abt making them and learning from them cuz if u dont try ull never get it right, even if its bad at first. also always go from overall to detail. make 5 minute sketches, that forces u to focus on form and translatinf the overall idea more than hyperfocusing on detail. and ofc alot of consistent practice. draw every day, whether its a 5 min aketch or something more polished. (im gonna attach some of my oractice sketches so u get the idea of what im talking abt cuz i feel like im not the best at explainin)

as for digital art, i was first drawing on a regular ass samsung tablet with a pen wrapped in tin foil (it makes it work like a stylus fun fact) on ibis paint which is free and honestly it was great. on thing is if ur starting digital get some free simple program cuz if u try to start with something thats "industry standard" its just making ur life harder cuz on top of learning how to draw oj a tablet, you have to learn the software, and u dont need that when u start. i got my actual drawing tablwt after like two years and i was working in krita (also free and really good). now i work in csp and its amazing but theres alot going on and it is pricey (but well  worth it imo) digital is easier in alot of ways but i still recommand learning traditionally

sorry for the shitty photo quality im bad at posting traditional art. but thats what im talking abt these are like 10-15 min each, focusing on form and the overall and not going into much detail

JOSEPH

Joseph has gotten used to handling situations that are overwhelming. He’s grown to be more quiet overtime, but let’s be honest here, it’s still Joseph. He’s going to worry. When you begin to look uncomfortable, he’s going to ask what’s up. Don’t lie to him, he can tell something is wrong, the man is a father, and he learned the tell tale signs of discomfort with his own little family. 

When he asks and you don’t respond immediately, he’s going to pause and pull you aside to make sure you heard him. 

“Y/N, are you alright?”

“…”

“Are you feeling unwell? Sick?”

You shrug

“Okay, let’s sit down.” He puts his hand on your arm and you flinch at the contact, which makes the overstimulation flare. When you yank your arm away from him, he’s going to be suspicious that maybe there’s a much bigger issue at play but he’s going to lead you away from the crowd and get you to sit.

“Can you tell me what’s the matter?”

A panic attack seizes in your throat and he can see it, “Can you talk to me?”

Your palms sweat and shake your head with shame.

“Okay, well, can you point to anything that you need?”

You shake your head again, closing your eyes, trying to avoid the harsh light.

“Okay…” Joseph tries to problem solve, “Can you point to what is bothering you?”

You manage to your ears

“Your ears hurt?”

You shake your head

“Is something in your ear?”

You shake your head again, this time covering your ears.

“It’s too loud.” He realizes. He thinks for a moment. “Hold on.”

You notice he pulls something from his pocket, earbuds. Connected to them is a Walkman, he unplugs them and holds the cord out to you, “you can put them in, it’s not much, but they’ll make it a bit quieter until I can find some earplugs.”

It’s a few minutes before Joseph comes back and puts a pair of earplugs beside you and a pair of headphones, “Use either. They’re the highest quality, so don’t worry.”

JOTARO

Jotaro can’t lose it. He’s got too much riding on him. If things go sideways, he would never forgive himself for the consequences, that is if he made it out alive. Because of this, Jotaro isn’t very in touch with his own emotions and prefers to keep them tamped down and if not in danger, he might actively ignore some signs of a sensory overload. He just doesn’t have the mental capacity to deal with it. Don’t mistake this for a lack of empathy or effort, he’s just way out of his depth here. That being said, if things really escalate, he might snap at you, thinking he can get you to act ‘reasonable’ if you take notice of how you’re feeling and pull yourself out of it on your own.

“Hey, quit muttering! It’s damn annoying.”

When you cover your ears and whimper, he feels something in his chest ache. 

He made it worse. He gets up from his hotel bed, huffs and goes to sit a bit closer to you but not too close, he gets wanting personal space, “I didn’t think you’d be that sensitive.” He pulls his hat over his eyes.

When things stay quiet, and he doesn’t really know what to say, he might ask you if you need anything. He’s frustrated. He gets when the world is just too full of pointless talking and noise, but watching you suffer, well, it was a new perspective. Jotaro wants to understand, but now he doesn’t know if it’s even his business. He’d leave you alone, but stand users lurk around every corner, and he’d be damned if he was leaving you alone in this state.

Fuck. What do you even do in this kind of situation. People don’t really cry or breakdown in front of him, not unless they were babies. You weren’t a baby. But that was the closest thing he had to what was going on. Babies get upset if they’re overwhelmed and need a nap…

Jotaro drapes the sheets of the hotel bed over you and closes the curtains, “I’ll be on the patio.” He grabs a book. He doesn’t expect an answer. If you need him, you know where he’ll be. 

POLNAREFF

Polnareff is pretty clueless. He means well, promise, He just hasn’t been a person people look up to for guidance and support for a while. Polnareff is a funny and flirty guy a lot of the time. He understands sorrow and grief, but he also knows when he should distance himself from things if they get in the way of the objective. Well, he’s better at it now. He’s been on a long journey of suffering to get closure because of his sister’s death. This all means he’s all too familiar with personal meltdowns, but not somebody else’s. Polnareff will first start picking up on your sensory overstimulation when you start to lag behind everybody else.

“Hey, Y/N, pick up the pace. You’re going to still be in Aswan by the time we’re in Cairo.”

You didn’t reply. He notices this and hangs back while the rest of the crusaders keep moving but will slow a bit so they don’t get out of eyesight. They tell Polnareff to be quick, because they need to keep moving. 

“You’re going a bit slow, mon ami.” He remarks

You hide your face.

“Oh? Too hot? I get it, I’ve been wearing this rag. I found it at a market. When we get to Luxor, maybe you should get one for yourself.” He points at the cooling towel on his head and shoulders. You don’t respond and just try to stay quiet and breathe.

“Man, you aren’t this quiet most of the time. I mean, you talk a fair amount, but you’re acting like a recluse.” He says without much understanding.

Your shoulders haunch with shame. He doesn’t get it.

“Maybe you’re hungry, or thirsty.” He guesses, “Mr. Joestar has a canteen, but you’ll have to pick up the pace to get it.”

Still, no sign you’d even heard him.

“Y/N, are you even listening to me?”

It was then he noticed you shaking, “Hey, Y/N, are you hurt?” When you don’t say anything, but shake your head, he yells out to the group, “Hold up! Y/N might be hurt!”

You bury your face in your hands, his yelling setting you off even more. This becomes a back and forth movement to counter the overstimulation. He notices the rocking and checks you for injuries, “Where is it? Who was it? Was this the work of an enemy stand?”

You shake your head vigorously. 

“What?” His concerned look mixes with confusion, “I don’t get it, what’s going on then?”

Your hands shake as you crouch down and try to hide. 

“Polnareff, what’s going on back there?” You can hear Joseph’s gruff voice.

Avdol ends up coming and looking you over, “Stress.” He says plainly, “Or something along those lines.”

“Stress? Stress can manifest like this?” Polnareff asks

Avdol nodded, “It can even overwhelm the senses.”

“Okay, which senses are bothering you?” The silver haired man asks.

You clench your eyes closed and point to them and your ears. “Sound and sight.” He says, “What about touch? 

Your answer is a hand moving side to side, ‘a bit’. 

“What if we stopped for an hour or so, just find a place that’s cool and quiet?” He asks.

You nodded. “Okay, can you stand?” He asks. You sign back ‘a bit’ again.

He nods, “Can I take your arm and lead you?” 

You nod.

“Alright, we’re going to take care of you, Y/N, don’t you worry.” He says gently.

AVDOL

Avdol picks up on this SO fast. This man is a reader, not just the book type, but he reads people as a living. He might even notice something is off before you do. Like the amount of people bustling about, the crowds and the people who accidentally bump into you. He’ll talk to Joseph and you and advise a quieter route. Unfortunately, this is the fastest way to get through. A detour would cost the group precious time. Avdol will instead hang at the back of the group with you and ask you what you need. Avdol is also much faster in places like markets because he’s grown up around them. In this case, if he’s sure you’ll be okay for a few minutes, he’ll haggle and find you something that might help.

“Where’s Avdol gone off to?” Polnareff asks Joseph

“He’s picking up a few necessities.” Joseph replies, he’ll meet back up with us in a few minutes, if he doesn’t we’ll assume he’s in danger and move quickly to a quieter location in case there’s a stand user in this crowd. I don’t want civilians involved in anything harmful.” He says gruffly

Avdol nods in good humour and squeezes onto the back of the group. He walks beside you, giving you a foot of room on one side to ensure nobody brushes against you when you’re already overwhelmed. And in one of his deep pockets he produces a beaded bracelet, “These are to cancel the noise, and if you need to keep your hands moving, you can rotate the beads in your hand.” You take the gift and look at him with surprise. “I don’t mind.” He says with a smile, “I can see that you’re struggling. We need to build each other up on this journey, so if there’s anything else you’re in need of, just communicate in anyway you find comfortable.” Your smile of gratitude is all he needs. He’ll hang back with you for as long as you need it. 

KAKYOIN

Does this guy get neurodivergence or what? Kakyoin spent a lot of time alone. He didn’t have a lot of friends growing up. He learned to communicate in lots of ways. Verbal wasn’t always his strong suit anyway. If there is anybody who understands isolating one’s self because you are different, it’s him. Jotaro isolates, not because he’s entirely socially awkward, it’s also because he just doesn’t want to. Kakyoin wants people to know who he is, more than that, he knows being a bit different comes with its own experiences and self-honed skills. He’s going to pick up on you retreating back into yourself in the beginning, not as fast as Avdol. He’s not a people reader after all, that being said, he is a people watcher. For years, Kakyoin watched people from afar, this helped him understand other people’s friendships and relationships. He’s also learned a lot. When you’re on your own, you don’t exactly get distracted by other people asking you to join them in things. So he’s read quite a bit, even on neurodivergence. He can spot the overload in a few minutes and get into action. He gets up from the seat on the train he’s in and sits next to you.

“Are you okay, Y/N?”

No answer. “Is it stress, or maybe are you just overwhelmed?”

You looked up at him, not expecting him to understand.

“Overwhelmed?”

You nod and stare at the ground.

“Is there anything I can do?” 

You have a moment to think, but you’ve gone nonverbal at this point, and realize you can’t really act out what you need because it’s a bit complex.

“Yeah, I bet there’s years worth of dust in these.” He chuckles, “I have a scarf, maybe we can put that around your eyes? Or your ears like earmuffs?” 

You nod and jot something else down, “Is the scarf soft?”

“Yes, it is. My mom bought it for me when we travelled to Egypt the first time.” He smiles and goes to get the scarf. 

He comes back and sits next to you, “If you need anything else, write it down for me, and I’ll be happy to get it.” He relaxes in the seat next to you, “Promise.”

He took out the tower in the warden backstory, With his own body falling through it after teleport in here in my story, and Mark not knowin anythin, not bein able to DO anythin he was suppose to be able to do, and at a ripe ol 68 yr old is the standard story of a dense ol man takin his new lesson on learnin and changin with whats around him. He aint happy, and Antoine, Evka,Harding,Varric, and the most recent Neve and soon Lucanis are the ones stuck with this ol man stuck in a mind set that makes no sense cause their world makes no sense to the ol man. NOT TO MENTION him bein told and find out ether now or later when Emmrich joins that in Dragon age, what we’d split in different race groups completely in dnd as Fey, fiend, and undead, are actually all in same category here just different stages or whatever also is somethin he will not be able to comprehend well. ASPECT ASSOCIATIONS, HEART

TODAYS ASPECT IS THE ONE OF HEART AND SOUL. THE ASPECT, THE TOPIC, THE CONCEPT OF HEART!!!

though before i get into my ideas on heart i should probably explain what this series of posts and mindmap is about. its a conceptual map, expanding and describing every part of an aspect by relating it to multiple ideas or how its a direct synonym or phrase of the aspect, like to put your heart and soul into something or to have a heart/ soul. these phrases or saying describe something about the idea of heart that isnt just having the literal organ called a heart, heart in those contexts meaning emotion or passion or soul.

the mind map can help show WHY someone would consider heart to relate to roleplay or introspection, without me just having to trust them on it. i would like to see their reasoning or how they got to that idea, and i assume some others would like this too which is why i made this sort of simplified mind map. no concept here has a sentence or paragraph explaining it, but through connections and associations you can figure out how something is connected, and if you disagree with one area of the reasoning, like you disagree that heart is about identity, then youll might have a better chance at understanding WHY you dont thin heart relates to role play. if you question why identities would relate to roles, you can possibly talk with another about it, leave a comment below or even search up online the synonyms or associations with identities and roles.

this mind map should give shape to the mental connections we make in our heads, and allow us to explain or share why we think certain ideas fit to an aspect, like how chaos would relate to rage and what ideas or reasons its connected to (chaos could connect to rage because it is something someone who hates on stuff can cause, or maybe it can be connected to rage due to how madness and instability is seen AS chaos). AND IF THIS IS DONE WELL WE CAN EVEN SEE WHAT POSSIBLE REASONS OR IDEAS ANDREW HUSSIE COULD HAVE ASSOCIATED WITH THE ASPECTS, like finding out why luck would relate to light. we basically rediscover the systems meanings and associations from the ground up

since i want this mind map to show how everyone mentally associates ideas to an aspect I WOULD LIKE EVERYONES COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS TO HELP EXPAND THIS MIND MAP OF ASSOCIATIONS. whether you send it to my discord tnttime1, my tumblr, my reddit or in the comments below

what i find most interesting about the concepts connecting to heart is the "subjective experience" and how it lead to solipsism which is the philosophical idea of only you yourself existing for certain, which can give ideas on your persepctive being the only one, the only real one, the most important one. its an idea i havent thought about but seeing how it relates to yourself and can give focus to yourself as the only persepctive you know matters. i wonder how such a person or character would be, and if being so self focused can somehow not be destructive or isolating.

also when making the connections to the idea of heart i actually noticed how the topic was so internal, i didnt find much to heart that you can describe objects with unless it relates to a person. i would like to find a perspective of heart without needing a person though that maybe asking for something contradictory to heart. the best thing ive found to that so far is theater, specifically the roleplaying and emotion filled part of theater

oh and one more comment, i assume many who read this assume you need to align with the topics to be considered heart bound, but you can also connect or relate to it in an other way. someone who hates love, identity, romance and expression would still have the topic of heart but would be described as a hater of heart, or i guess in classpecting terms, possibly someone who wants to destroy heart or remove love, identity, romance and expression. another way to possibly relate to a topic, maybe you help others find their identity or love or help others experience romance. im not sure of all the ways to interact with topics, though maybe thats more a class thing. let me know what you think about this

It IS magical in the sense that it doesn't work like actual bleach, but that's basically what it is. He just has to rub it on his hair until the brown disappears and then wash it off and he's good. He DOES still need toner, or it will be Yellow, but he doesn't have to worry about bleaching his hair off or sit around for a half hour. He DOES have an ungodly amount of it in his bag, and he buys more whenever they're in his era alsjhlkhfl. At THIS point the others all know (Wind was the only one War had fooled). He does attempt to bleach his eyebrows but like. His natural color is DARK brown. The hairs on his arms are dark brown, he shaves frequently to avoid the, in his opinion, 'atrocious combo of dark facial hair while blond'. Modern AU War ALSO dyes his hair, he too has naturally very dark brown hair. And both of them straighten it too

Twi no, but Sky a few times a year dyes his red. He doesn't bleach it, he just has Legend put red dye on his naturally dark hair, and it leaves him with a cool dark red that can still professionally look somewhat brown but in the light is very clearly red. They have not helped War, they offered once and they learned their lesson because War can get a lil snappy if things dont follow his routine

He does! Regular War and my Modern AU War both have portuguese (or the hyrulian equivalent of it) as a native language. They also both know a bit of spanish from having spanish speaking friends, but my regular War knows significantly more languages than Modern AU War

Twi: Initially he thought he was cold and distant and he wasn't a fan of how he'd just disappear into the woods, then he came to respect him as a fighter and thought he was just a bit fucking weird, but as they got close and he started to respect him War came to think VERY highly of him. He's the closest to War in age, and War really appreciates that he feels like he can lean on Twi

Sky: Sky has such an aura about him that any magic user (and sometimes even those who aren't sensitive to magic) can feel, and Warriors did NOT trust him at first. He didn't like that Sky felt DANGEROUS but was so calm and happy seeming. He very quickly came to understand that Sky wakes up every day and CHOOSES kindness, and he's come to respect him as a fighter, a medic, a fellow knight, and he loves him like a brother

Hyrule: He thought he was skittish and weird, which is true, but after getting to know him War has a great respect for his ability to heal and respects how powerful the kid is

Legend: He still thinks he's a snarky asshole, but now he thinks that way with love. He admires that Legend is true to himself and doesn't people please, because Warriors CAN'T be like that. He trusts Legend's experience

Wild: It was like a slap to the face, seeing this kid and realizing how similar they were. And it drives him MAD that Wild is so reckless. He really really cares about him, but he's learning that Wild is not somebody he can control, Wild doesn't need a fellow soldier, Wild needs a friend. He needs a buddy, he needs love

Four: Immediately thought he was the smartest one in the room, has yet to be proven wrong. He admires Four's dedication to the blade, and he's careful with his own weapons out of respect for all Four does to sharpen their blades for them

Wind is weird because War knew Tune first, and Tune was to baby War what Twi is to him now: a peer, someone to confide in, a trusted friend and brother. It's weird to him, seeing Wind and knowing who he becomes, but he's proud of the kid and he loves him a lot

Time is.... complicated. When War first met Mask he was in a weird place mentally, but he took that kid in, legally adopted him, and cared for him for three years. He can't describe in words what his relationship with Mask is because while yeah thats so clearly his baby brother, part of his brain considers Mask his kid. Seeing Time all grown up and finding out he's doing well and has a WIFE was somethin' else for War. He'd never felt so proud in his entire life. He can recognize that Time is a grown man now who doesn't need his protection, but Warriors is still always at his bad side. He's always right behind Time watching his blind side, he always keeps an eye on him in battle, he will never stop watching over him. He offers his advice when Time asks for it, and respects his decisions, but Time is and always will be his little brother

5. Thats a tie between him and War because yeah, Sky's meds make him exhausted a lot of the time, but War will run around until he crashes and then he'll crash HARD. BOTH of them have fallen asleep on people (mostly Twi, or Athena/Sun)

6. It depends on how Sky is feeling right before his post seizure nap. If he's a bit overstimulated, War will keep the cats out on purpose, but for the most part the cats are allowed to roam free when all the boys are home so unless a door is shut intentionally to keep them out, they'll be there

So I've been thinking about something for a while. It's not revolutionary, but I'm dying to talk about it, and you seem to be okay discussing these things.

I recently read Kevin's book (the best biography I've ever read) and one thing that really hit me was how much empathy Kevin has for people around him. He seems very emotional intelligent. I knew he was very reflected and thoughtful from his interviews and so on, but I was still blown away by how much grace and acceptance he extends to everyone.

When people discuss his book they often talk about his relationship with his father Jan, and how he both understands and looks up to his dad for following his dream. But at the same time talks about some of the struggles he had growing up with a single teen mom, with no money (like him eating a whole block of cheese as a teen got him grounded, coz it was too expensive to just eat as a snack), and then his dad would show up in a Ferrari, making her feel very inadequate and he still feels how unfair that was to her. The descriptions are very balanced and I feel like he really tries to understand and see it from all sides. It did change some of my perspectives on Jan though.

Him talking about the Hulk incident is also interesting, coz he is mostly confused over why Nico took it so personally. He has talked about the incident at length multiple times so it doesn't really take much space in the book. But he does admit that the racing move was dirty. For him the whole thing was blown out of proportions afterwards and the got tired of talking about it. He saw people make t-shirt and banners with it, that he thinks was to tease Nico, and he just thinks it got to be too much. Which makes me wonder if seeing his words used by others to hurt Nico has something to do with why he got sick of it, or if he just got annoyed that the words shaped a narrative about him that he didn't like. He has an interesting analogy where he compares racing to boxing, saying: when you are in the ring you try to win and might break each others noses, but afterwards it's over and you can hug and be good. That's how he sees racing and he doesn't think Nico is the only one taking things too personal in the paddock.

I've seen Kevin be presented in different ways in the media, but it's usually as this tough guy that doesn't take any bullshit. And while that might be true, I also feel like his more gentle and generous side is often neglected or ignored by the press. Maybe it's the format of the interviews, language barrier or something, because listening to the radios he is very quick to forgive mistakes and even calm his engineer down. In the book he gets to convey a lot of more complex emotions and it makes me believe that he understands a lot more of the emotional needs and wants of the people around him than people might think.

don't apologize this was very interesting. I wish there was an English translation so we wouldn't have to rely on twitter thread translations or blurbs like this. definitely agree that kevin being emotionally intelligent and aware isn't news, but I can also appreciate the extra insight like you said. and I think I've seen multiple people talk about it before but his experiences growing up definitely seem to be reflected in how much of a family man he is.

Im glad that I was able to inspire you to change your mind!!! I used to not think much of Splatoon 2's story, too, until the autism in my brain whispered, "Callie Cuttlefish...."

(I'm about to get ranty in this post, so get ready.... if you wanna move along and don't wanna see someone get upset over a squid woman then by all means do so!)

I think the main reasons as to why the story of Splatoon 2 gets misinterpreted a lot is because in media circles, people will use the words "brainwashing" and "hypnosis" interchangeably and they genuinely don't know what hypnosis is actually like. Nintendo and the Splatoon devs probably don't know either. Like I don't think in Splatoon 2's rushed development cycle they bothered to look up the definition of hypnosis and they just made up the Hypnoshades to make Callie "evil" in a quick and easy way because "ooooo hypnosis is mind control/brainwashing ooo" WHICH IS FALSE!!!! VERY VERY FALSE!!!!!

Splatoon 2 was most likely rushed and it impacted Callie's storyline. You can clearly see what kind of story Splatoon 2 was going for from the concept art and Squid Sisters Stories prequel series. The tale of two cousins drifting apart and Callie growing resentment in her heart....

While we SORTA got that in the final game, Callie's arc got muffled due to a lack of understanding of what hypnosis actually is and media out of Splatoon continuing to use "brainwashing" as a cheap and lazy way to explain things which most likely had a strong influence in Splatoon 2's development, despite a lot of evidence proving that's not what happened to Callie... and there's not much we can do about it... ugh.

They also hid a lot of important story details behind optional content and social media posts. The sunken scrolls explaining Callie's growing mental issues, the relationship chart which disproves that Callie was kidnapped, etc, etc....

Also people tend to take Marie's perspective very objectively because we follow her as Agent 4. So when she says that Callie was "squidnapped," people believe it. When Marie says Callie was "brainwashed" in the rematch fight, people believe it. Including inkipedia and people who analyse splatoon.... the people who seek out objective information take the overthinking and worried Marie with a lack of knowledge as the well of truth.

Slight tangent but, you know what's kinda funny to me? Inkipedia wants to be very objective on Splatoon yeah? Well on Callie's main page it says, "Callie went to the octarians willingly," yet another parts of the site, it says, "she was kidnapped." Hmm... and of course, them flip-flopping the words "hypnosis" and "brainwashing" despite those words being OBJECTIVELY TWO SEPARATE THINGS THAT CANNOT BE USED INTERCHANGEABLY!!! But they use brainwashing more because Nintendo NoA used it.... oh well, tangent aside...

That's why so many people fuck up and you know what? I don't REALLYYYY blame the common fan over this. I dont! It would be unfair of me to get mad at someone who doesn't know any better because Splatoon 2 did an AWFUL job at properly fleshing out Callie!!!! When people hear what I have to say and either agree or respectfully disagree but still get my points, i get happy, and im glad more people are looking into Callie in a different light! She was treated like TRASHHHH for 7 fucking years!!!

Im only mad at certain parts of a certain wiki, and people who go over the timeline and make 5 hour videos and claim that Callie was KIDNAPPED DESPITE THERE BEING A FREELY AVAILABLE FUCKING RELATIONSHIP CHART THAT LITERALLY DISPROVES IT!!! BUT NO!!! YOU JUST HADDDDD TO READ A SINGLE INKIPEDIA ARTCLE AND YOU DIDNT EVEN BOTHER TO LOOK ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!! i literally don't have anything to say about 32 it was a perfectly fine book end. for all of my bitching about the way this fic progressed it really was honestly Pretty Solid all the way through. fandom adores this shit for good reason, i personally just stopped being part of the target audience after the focus of the fic adjusted over the course of time. It happens . i accept the fact that this just stopped being For Me after a certain point, twas nothing against the quality of the work itself, but that doesn't eliminate the sense of disappointment that comes from following a piece of fiction live (like literally from the very beginning) (i read that shit when it was a oneshot with like 80 kudos tops) and watching its appeal slip from ur fingers over time while you simultaneously cannot stop hearing about it at every turn

i'm not taking back my grievances with 31 in light of 32s general Elaborations though because i genuinely still just Don't like how the last like 4-5 chapters progressed & were executed on the whole but those kinds of mass-activity climaxes are really gd hard to write as is, so like. is more a matter of "i dont think the scope needed to be Nearly this large" than anything else. conclusion of the soulbond redux thing was fine, Cute, In fact, and im glad we got chronic pain shmilk rep (‼️) but im still going to forever be blindingly pissed off about the pv pov thing Fuck you for that jamma /lh

i definitely stand by the sentiment that 1-11 was one "season" and 12 onwards was another (possibly even 2 more) that had a pretty significant tone/objectives shift nd ended up losing appeal in the process. that progression was kind of inevitable given the sheer amount of ground jamma wanted to cover, but by the time we got into the latter half and things REALLY stopped being about the soulbond i was like. Okay what are we even doing here. the point of interest for me was Always going to be on the codependency and navigation of their newfound Obligatory Proximity, and the way that evolved (esp as relevant to pure vanilla) just ddddidnt. Hit.

i think a lot of my grievances with this fic (and with most other Redemption AU content for shmilk on the whole really) is just rooted in a fundamentally Different perspective on how these characters handle affection & vulnerability. funny as this probably sounds coming from someone with This Fucking Blog Name i don't actually like most romantic milkshake content under hurt/comfort slowburn pretenses? and like, the sheer degree of Fluff on the table from like ~22 onwards Always struck me as OOC even With the soulbond feedback loop in the picture. this is going to probably sound Fucking Insane, but i think i would have been way more on board with the backhalf of this fic if their relationship was set back WAY farther than just Taking it slow after the bond broke. like im talking Almost Zero Romantic Content until around This Last Chapter.

shmilk has never struck me as a character who would willingly engage in affection unless he is perfectly and EXCLUSIVELY in control of the situation, and the soulbond feeding into that exact desire for (unhealthy and wildly imbalanced) social autonomy could have been a REALLY interesting vehicle to dive into whether or not he values that control over an actually authentic interpersonal connection. how much he's willing to sacrifice to obtain something Real, and in turn having to take several more steps to be willing to Learn Vulnerability. i'll take the angst and struggle inherent to a pairing having to EARN that kind of trust and affection in both directions over several chapters straight of unchallenged hurt/comfort (emphasis on comfort), but given how many people pissed their pants in the ao3 comments the MINUTE their relationships authenticity started to be challenged i get why this wasn't the direction that was taken. im of the understanding the audience reception ended up influencing jammas decision making a decent bit relative to the way this fic ended which bums me out. Should've just killed shadow milk off at the end in retaliation /j

rubbin my hands together like a little fly rn love character stuff and analysis stuff I’m a prince of rage let me explain while I was reading homstuck in that time of my life I was stuck in a situation where I couldn’t really get away with being mad about how I was being treated and I internalized that a lot and ended up being pretty like forcefully numb sort of like toxic positivity but more numbness then positivity and I’d shy away from anything or anyone to aggressive I’d definitely slip up and lash out so id like associate that time in my life with Homestuck cause that’s one of the things that got my through that time and as I read I worked through a lot I let myself express negative emotion like outwardly without blaming myself for it and I learned like a little ego is good that’s just self esteem and when I express stuff I lash out and blow up less and talking makes me feel better now I’m pretty damn good at deesclation learned how to control my environment better and I’m safer cause of it not totally out of the woods yet but definitely doing better much smarter about braving it out so I feel like there’s definitely the sense of princes almost destroying themselves by trying to remove my aspect rage from myself by controlling how I reacted cause I had to and then blowing up but then I learned how to express my emotions while still deescalting so I could stay safe even in rough spots and also communicate without getting aggressive cause my issue was I was good at talking and smart and I picked up on stuff but I’d get stop defensive when I talked it was aggressive and offputting so no one listened when I called stuff out(mainly old old shitty teachers shitty parents when I was still in school) but I got it now I can manage my tone while still being honest and call stuff out also I reported all those guys so it’s all good now so now it’s gone from suppressing things to blowing up to learning how to rebel and report in a smart way when and how to talk and put up a fight and how to manage my emotions and have support systems so thing don’t go sideways I’m in therapy and dude the other day my buddy said I was always the dude back in highschool who was like legit moral like I knew what was up when adults and people were being dicks I actually got praise for it it felt nice cause I always felt like a mess lashing out and I was but at least I sort of had the right idea just needed to flesh it out lol anyway dude I like the godtier polls and the analyzes and stuff this blog is cool take care also I like the outfit for the most part but the poofy asshole prince pants dont fit the vibe for me and I hate the fact I’d be stuck in tights NOT wearing those dude uncomfortable af I would not be able to I don’t like the feeling of tights bro

witch of blood here ✌️ (i suppose anyway... not to be pedantic but i have a hard time w the idea of classpects for real people bc i view it as a character arc analysis and real ppl dont have character arcs. but i digress i did pick this for a reason) ive toyed with several different aspects throughout the years but blood is the one resonating w me atm, i feel as though i have a strong understanding of like. how people connect to and interact with one another, and in my friend group right now i am definitely the one who brought them all together and keeps us all in touch, like i literally host the hangouts every week lmao. i deliberated w a few different classes but ultimately went w witch because i feel like my relationship with my aspect is very hands on and generally speaking within my control, but also something i had to put a lot of definite effort into learning. im lowkey autistic so interacting w people doesnt come naturally to me, but its something i spent a lot of time learning how to do better, so i feel as though i have a unique approach to it but ultimately can control things in a way that feels v witchy to me. if that makes any sense lmao. also im realizing this could imply that im manipulating my friends or smth and thats not what i mean LOL i just mean that i used to feel that it was completely out of my control how my friendships and relationships went and they often spiralled badly to places i didnt like but now i have a better understanding of ppl and friends in general and can use that knowledge to maintain good strong friendships. i love my friends ❤️🩸

maid 9f doom here. im not really good at classpecting, I'm not even sure this is what truly suits me but I like to view classpects as my personal journey and it's hard to imagine what maid of doom really means to create with doom, when doom itself is destruction. my journey as a person was always to listen and do what I was told and I was miserable and I still struggle to find my own right in this miserable wrong world. ive been tossed from person to place and told to do everything right and i have this overbearing need to do what is right. reporting from the light poll! i'm a seer of light, and while we can find plenty of canon content for such a character, here's my opinion on it: 'light' as a class imho is about fortune, luck, knowledge, and relevance. i could point to about a million things in canon about that, but to simplify, these are all things that rose, vriska, and aranea, our canon light players, center themselves around in varying proportions. i also think that light players tend to have an association with pathways or courses of action, and have a good idea of their own path, whatever it may be. rose has a plan, vriska has plans to spare, aranea has plans. i choose light because, one, every quiz ever made tends to give me light, and two, i feel that set of characteristics fits me well. i have a plan, but it's not set in stone - i'm constantly looking for things that might divert its course. for seers, on the other hand, we have rose, terezi, and kankri, and a solid amount of information on all of them. seers are mostly regarded as a passive class, which i find interesting, because rose and terezi play extremely active roles in canon, and kankri as well to an extent. my thoughts on this are that while seers actively pursue knowledge of their aspect, the way they utilize the knowledge is passive - passing it onto their sessionmates to do with as they will, more often than not. a seer rarely directly intervenes, and instead seeks understanding of their aspect and tries to foster something of that understanding in those around them. i chose seer for myself because i have a very 'everyone else's choices are their own, but i want to have all the information i can' attitude towards life. i'll tell anyone things that i see and may be relevant to them, but it's on them to make their own choices after that. i'm obsessive in my pursuit of everything that i crave knowledge of, from hobbies to my profession to the world around me. alright, that's enough of a wall of text. yes i've been called a rose kinnie, and that's fine, i too am a goth lesbian, so how could i complain? thanks for running these polls, they're incredibly interesting! have a wonderful (whatever time it is for you) :)

this is a rly well thought-out one. it always bugged me that seers r relegated to being so passive when the sufferer, terezi, & rose were doing all their sick shit. i think i saw someone say, somewheres, that seers are "punished by the narrative" for trying to be active? as in they cosmically shouldn't have been? hah... seers rule

i get to have 2 classpects because im built different. prince of light and knight of void sit around in my head and beat each other up all day. probably to be expected by someone with 2 classpects, i used to super heavily identify with the heart aspect. i went through a bunch of different classes while the comic was updating when i was vibing with heart. i still enjoy and identify with the heart aspect to an extent but having 2 distinct classpects is much more accurate for me personally.

hell yeah dual classpectorz. i luv it. dual classpectors have my sword. i also i guess dual classpect, but i never rlly understood the heart aspect @ all until rlly recently. wonder how many others relate to u or myself here. for me anyways, i just see space & breath as very interrelated concepts & the way they overlap is rlly specifically relevant in my life, yk? fun stuff :J
