Day 223: MP-08 Grimlock (Transformers Generation 1/Masterpiece)

Grimlock’s been hanging out in the mind goblin part of my brain today. I caught myself doing all the classic G1 Grimlock bits today. “Me Grimlock no bozo, me King!” And all that. And I think I can tell you why.

There’s a game and collectibles shop in my area that I go to with my friends once in a blue moon. Lately I went with my family looking for a Ps2 controller that worked, and I spotted the ToysRUs reissue of Grimbo hiding up top. It’s too expensive for me to snag on a whim right now, but once I get paid. Me Grimlock becomes My Grimlock.

I LOVE Grimlock. He is my favorite transformer other than Optimus. The pictures of the two favorite versions which is G1 and Fall of Cybertron. One personal head canon/interpretation of his character is that Grimlock and the other dinobots feel like their dinosaur forms are their true forms while the "robot" form is their "alt-form" unlike the rest of the transformers. When the dinobots are in dinosaur mode they are stronger and move in a more natural way. In most of G1 and into G2 Grimlock is in his t-rex mode more than his robot mode completing multiple feats of strength and intelligence. My second head canon/interpretation is from Fall of Cybertron where he learns of his new dinosaur form given to him by Shockwave. However, unlike his teammates Grimlock doesn't like his new form that much and makes a lot of comments about feeling gross. I like the characterization of his body dysmorphia, it adds a lot to his rage and anger as he is really just angry at his body. So I like to think that Grimlock has a type of self-hatred towards his dinosaur form despite giving him an edge on strength and ability. He yearns for his old cybertronian form and takes it out on his enemies. I'm not usually a fan of characters I like having a lot of trauma but in the Fall of Cybertron origin it makes sense because Shockwave's experiments were basically torture. Also, he's a dinosaur and I love dinosaurs!

Dead End isn’t afraid, but he’s not stupid, either, and as much as he talks about death, he’s not wanting to bite the big one, either.

Even if the Dinobot looks raggedy as the Pit, Dead End isn’t taking any bets.

Maybe if he stands real still, he won’t see him.

Had this weird idea for the sequel to TFOne:

What if there are other groups of Transformers on the surface but they have survived cut off from the rest of Transformer society in their own ways. Like Junkions who live like Mad Max post-apocalyptic survivalists in the wreckage of abandoned factories and cities, raiding the energon trains every now and then. Or Beastformers who have taken on the forms of Cybertronian mech animals to evade detection, who conduct attacks on the trains as well as Quintessons. The mechdeer getting blasted by the Quint ship is from the fact that the Quints are kind of paranoid when they see any form of life on the Cybertronian surface. Dinobots live in the jungles and have created their own little kingdom under Grimlock.

the post about breeding kink w/o pregnancy kink made me think like. see as someone who doest have a pregnancy kink its not something i would have considered anyway. this together with that thing about the scavengers having crew orgies like every other day made me think it would be kinda funny if they never considered the whole pregnancy thing. they just want to be stuffed with goo and nothing sketchy ever happens!! not like they fuel enough for their frames to be at risk of carrying or anything. they just genuinely never consider it and it was never a really a real possibility anyway. until grimlock gets included in the mess. turns out hes King for a reason and he gets them all pregnant. suddenly theyre all carrying grimlocks massive sparklings

it amazes me that there are people on my blog without a pregnancy kink. i'm just that good.

YEAH the scavengers absolutely wouldn't factor in the risk of pregnancy. They just have their fun weekly orgies and don't worry about it. None of them have gotten pregnant before, they don't have a reason to assume something has changed.

Maybe they should have stopped and thought it through when they got Grimlock roped in, though...

—The 10 minute format was very comfy because i just could literally squeeze an episode on my school break or something

Around March I got the urge to watch G1, so I opened Youtube and started the episodes in the order in which they were listed on the official Hasbro channel.

Turns out that is not a good idea.

I figured it out around the middle of season 1 and went searching on the internet to find if someone had any idea why is that.

After a while I found a forum of people talking about how they made their own order of the episodes. After a bit of scrolling I found God.

pitt55 shared his entire reconfiguration of all the 98 episodes on the forum. You'll find his reply if you scroll down just a bit.

I used his guide and didn't have a single problem from then on, and I did make a copy of it and pasted it in my notes for easier access so I'm putting it here for anyone who wants to watch G1 and is/was as confused as me.

wada sez: In parallel to Villa’s Untold Marvels, the fanproject Regeneration Plus was also aiming to tie into Furman’s Regeneration One series. This strip is of course unrelated to the previous Mosaic comic of the same name. Balocca (I presume) has done the work for me in explaining the story; I’ve mirrored her commentary below.

Hail to the King! was realized for an Italian contest: now it's the moment to show the English version!

It seems that the initial idea of the creatives was to realize a finale for every main Regeneration One character but, ultimately, it was not possible. So I've imagined a last page for Grimlock. You can consider this page like a Regeneration One #100.1 special story.

I just saw someone post a picture of all the Marvel Transformers toys they came out with (Shockwave, King Grimlock, Flame + Xaaron, and Straxus). And y'all XAARON IS SO TINY LMAO. Like??? I didn't think he would be tall or big but like I didn't expect him to be that small either. I was especially taken aback by Straxus b/c for some reason I always thought that Straxus was short? And I keep getting reminded that he's like the same height as Blaster which I REFUSE to accept. Straxus will always be a shorty to me.
