A/N: This is an idea I've had for a long time that I've never written until now, for some odd reason. Muse struck and boy did I answer. The title and the recurring line are from The Haunting of Hill House, which is very much an inspiration for this little one-shot.

barty never says he loves evan (in public) but its seen in how he is constantly has a gentle hand on evan somewhere, tracing his body with his fingers subconsciously. or it can be seen in the fierce protectiveness that shows when anybody even thinks something mean about evan.

evan never says he loves barty (in public) but you can see it in how his eyes always scan the room for barty, not even realizing that he's slowly drifting toward him. or when bartys talking evan stops everything else to listen. barty is often not taken seriously when he speaks, but he always can count on evan.
