Saw a couple of posts saying that Jiang Fengmian did love and appreciate Jiang Cheng but was just bad at showing it so here’s a poll.

FYI When i say ‘like’ i don’t mean it in the sense of loving Jiang Cheng because he is his son, i mean appreciating his strengths and efforts and just. Liking him. As a person.

Disclaimer: while all cultivators who have been through the war are murderers in a literal sense, these poll options were arbitrarily chosen based on vibes, not body count. Yes, Lan Wangji has killed more people in canon than Nie Huaisang in the very literal sense, but you know.

Been thinking about, recently, how much of WWX's rule-breaking and goofing around is directly related to being raised in the tense and volatile environment of the Jiang household and how much of it is intrinsic. AKA nurture vs nature.

I do find MXY very similar to WWX, not just because they both followed the demonic path (though how much MXY did prior to his sacrifice is not clear), but because of how he was ostracized. Not only by society as a whole, but by their family.

How much of his harassment of his half-brother was true and how much was fiction created by JGY setting up his plan? He was a scapegoat, a pawn in another's cruel plan.

He was true to himself. He was openly gay in a society where that was not the norm. He loved loudly but hated himself. So I ask. If LWJ met him, would he have seen these similarities, and allowed himself to love again.

Which idea sounds better? Wanna draw some mxtx stuff, but unsure of which vibe to go for~

The Hualian one would probably feature San Lang instead of Hua Cheng, and it'd be very fall oriented!

The Wangxian one would be spring or summer based! LWJ is offering his outer robe to a drenched WWX and the juniors and Little Apple are in DISTRESS from being soaked

My brain told me to click on Jiang Cheng because of his similarities to Liu Qingge, but my heart told me to click Jin Guangyao for the sole reason that I keep thinking of the tragedies that were his relationship with the people he cared about (and also because it'd be funny to see JGY crashing out because the person he likes is also everybody elses' 'person they like'.)

In Canon we know that JGY fell in love with Qin Su (Pre-Sibling reveal) because she was one of the few people who chose to look at him beyond his birth status as the son of a prostitute. She fell in love with him after he saved her, and chose to consummate before getting married because she knew her mother wouldn't approve (for reason we now know).

It's clear that JGY himself returned these feelings until he found out the truth of their relation.

Next one is Lan Xichen, a man who was JGY's closest friend throughout his rise from the son of a prostitute to the Sect Leader of the Lanling Jins.

Lan Xichen always tried to look at the good side in JGY, going to the point of mediating any argument JGY and Nie Mingjue had and trying to defend JGY. In the end, their story ends with NMJ's body cut into pieces and left as a fierce corpse, JGY being trapped into a coffin to fight with NMJ for years, while Lan Xichen is left alone and goes into Seclusion.

Jin Guangyao doesn't have the best track record for his relationships.

Now let's add in Shen Yuan to the mix.

You see the vision now.

Shen Yuan we see despite being raised in his past life a very privileged life still managed to maintain kindness. He likely would see JGY's skills and obvious talent and guss all about his skills, especially after he finds out that JGY only began to cultivate very late into his life compared to others.

We see that in Canon Shen Yuan explains how one of his favourite things about PIDW that he's willing to admit is about Luo Binghe's complex character arc and growth from a no name orphan disciple to the Grand Demonic Emperor, so I personally believe he'd be fascinated about JGY's life if he was the MC of his own novel.

For JGY, he'd likely have a similar reaction to Shen Yuan like he had to Qin Su (Minus the incest), since Shen Yuan is someone who doesn't judge on Birth Status like the others in the cultivation world.

I don't know, I personally just feel intrigued on what could happen
