I'm all A-fucking-board McSpirk. I wanna squeal a bit about why I think the movies added such an important change to them.
Watching the series, it's easy to "subtextualize" Kirk and Spock being together and Kirk and Bones being together in a Kirk centered polycule. Each pair has their romantic moments while Spock and Bones are always picking on each other. I, personally, never really saw a "BonesXSpock" relationship beyond friendship in the polycule.... until Star Trek III and IV.
See, the symbolic relationship has Bones as Faith and Spock as Logic. Kirk being the center gives him a balance of the two. But Faith and Logic are always at odds because logic dictates that there is a percentage chance something might not happen vs Faith believing that it will happen because it must. When Spock put himself into Bones, Bones was forced to see Logic. When Spock was made whole again he was forced to believe the impossible. Once their respective perspectives were understood, we get Bones looking at Spock like this:

And if I may dig ever so deeper into this, as we all have I'm sure, the line he gives Spock right before shooting those baby blues at him is "Well, nobody's perfect." Which is the final line in a VERY gay film from 1959 called "Some Like It Hot"

The movies helped solidify the Polycule into a true Thruple.
assortment of "married for 25 years mcspirk" during wrath of khan because they were off the charts in this one

So I've found my new favourite brand of content is just "putting the TOS landing party in increasingly wild situations" here I present to you some low quality transparent pngs of the lads. Please put them in a situation.

bones isn’t even that grumpy he just isn’t a bullshitter . like yeah giving your brains to unknown alien entities that can KILL you IS insane . he ISN’T an engineer . maybe we SHOULDN’T risk the entire crew just so spirk can play gay chicken . with as many malfunctions as the transporter has why WOULDN’T he bitch about using it ? no one else on the enterprise is going to tell the truth but bones will

the fanart of kirk staring at another grown man with sparkles in his eyes and hearts and flowers radiating off him seems incredibly dramatic until you watch a single episode of TOS

There are several things I love about this scene.
1. The policeman didn’t ask where Spock is from. Kirk just started randomly infodumping about his “Chinese” friend.
2. The way Kirk just looks at Spock in desperation.
3. “Perhaps an unfortunate accident I had as a child-” “AN UNFORTUNATE ACCIDENT HE HAD AS A CHILD-“

Forget everyone’s nominee for master diplomat, Henry Kissinger, who was as inept as he was ruthless—extending the Vietnam War by seven bloody years to mask his diplomatic failure, turning East Timor over to Indonesia for decades of slaughter until its inevitable independence, cratering US credibility in Latin America by backing a murderous military dictatorship in Chile, and mismanaging Moscow in ways that helped extend the Cold War by fifteen years. Kissinger’s career, as international law specialist Richard Falk observed, has been marked by “his extraordinary capacity to be repeatedly wrong about almost every major foreign policy decision made by the U.S. Government over the course of the last half-century.”
