DPxDC Prompt #8

Danny was practicing shapeshifting with Amorpho when he felt the tug of a summoning and heard the distant words drifting into his mind.

Normally Danny would just ignore it. Or if it seems like this was a group that needed some sense scared into them, he'd shift into his Horror form and terrify them into never pulling this shit again. But then he heard them mention live sacrifices, and Danny just had to step in before that happened. So he let the summoning pull him on through, briefly forgetting he was shapeshifted into a... less than ideal form.

Danny lands in the circle right on top of one of the intended sacrifices, a group of people in weird outfits and, is that guy green? Irrelevant. Immediately Danny on knows something is very wrong. His powers feel muted and far away. His form suddenly feels, locked somehow.

He casts his gaze across the summoning circle and, to his horror, recognizes the binding ritual. These cultists wanted to bind and seal him in one of these mortal's bodies after they were sacrificed. But they fucked up the spell. Or maybe Danny fucked it up by coming in too soon? Irrelevant again.

What matters is the spell went sideways. Instead of locking Danny into one of the sacrifice's bodies, it locked him into his own form while pulling most of his abilities just out of reach. Now he's here. In the shape of- He's stuck as-

"Dude, is that a pigeon? Did the Ghost King, like, send you to voicemail?"

A short messy ramble on why Rue's ending makes me heartbreak

@jackalope-antlers reblogged my tags from a princess tutu post so I shall answer them!

Heads up I'm sick with a cold atm and very anxious with current events so most of what's below is very much a word barf.

Okay, rue's ending is something that always felt very bittersweet to me. We know she was a human girl the raven took away at a young age so her disappearing into the story feels odd. Compared to Fakir and Duck who agree to let the story end. Rue goes with Mytho. I don't think she was ready to step out of the framework of the "fairytale princess". She's young, still hurting, and needs to heal. So I can't say I don't see how running off to a simpler world isn't appealing. Staying in Gold Crown Town would mean digging up a lot of old wounds.

Rue never lets the story end, just letting the finale/happy ending play on a loop. I wish she stayed behind got the world she was taken from a new light. Make new relationships on her own not seeing her sole source of love being dependent on the prince. The prince who she's been told since she was little loves everyone and, thus is the only person she thinks can love her. She still ends the story thinking way, that she has nowhere else to go to be happy but the story.

A story where she knows she's the only "real" person. Mytho is still someone Drosselmyer created. Even in the ending slides where sees many characters living their lives she just performs the wedding pas de deux with mytho and they freeze in place. The story can't continue, it will be frozen in one spot without a writer. It felt like a very stagnant ending for her and Mytho. They've grown so much, so going to World Drosselmyer created seems sad in a way.

You know something? Whenever a genuinely good piece of media takes a polytheistic or non-Christian religion as an allegory criticizing Christianity or just religion/the worship of god(s) in general, I feel such a strong urge to both nod in fascination because I see their point of recontextualizing and deconstruction but also to roll my eyes so hard because most of the time they're just going "religion bad. Here's nuance - actually never mind. Religion bad, period."

Like I'm far, far from a pantheist or polytheist but do people understand that those gods were simply forces of personified nature? Their whole thing was that they mimicked humanity and human relationships but, in the end, were basically nature. And the, well, nature of nature is that it's unfair, takes you unawares, sometimes can be benevolent, but is always unpredictable. It can be too cruel for a small mistake or you can be lucky and escape punishment in general. Myths and legends were all about their inhumanity, not their imperfect and wretched humanity (because they were gods, duh).

Like man, whenever I see a piece of media raging about religion like. I get it. But not only does it basically erase and invalidate the experiences of half or more than half of the world who are literally suffering from their religion, I can't help but notice some kind of weird trend. Like...do people now happily cast the gods as Evil and needing to be put down or eradicated because of how industrialization was basically man conquering nature? They demand those higher powers see things from their perspective and from an individually personal point of view (all the while ignoring that Christianity literally did that), blame gods for suffering and thus decry them but ignore the fact that even without gods, the same suffering would probably still happen. Always about "gods should be more human" but only in the good ways because people have already humanized the gods too much, just as vile ones, rather than the personification of nature they were meant to be.

Okay a thing i like doing with my readers even if i haven’t brought it up until my recent series is the idea of reader being taken in by Yaga for one reason or another. Being taken in or otherwise adopted in the jujutsu world seems fairly common. Whether it’s because a child with cursed energy is born into a normal family that treats them poorly or their parents die while working as sorcerers themselves. Adoption and found family must be a pretty common story.

And i don’t know why but something about Yaga screams dad to me.

Also i think it’s really funny to be able to introduce your little brother and they’re a fucking panda.

thinking about Elyss's dad reading her the ugly duckling when she was a little girl and I'm torn between the story resonating with her, for obvious reasons, or the story distressing her intensely because if the ugly duckling was never a duck to begin with then it will never fit in with its duck family, it will never have a place among other ducks, it will always be an outsider in the only home it's ever known

LMAO. look. is it my fault that charlie has chemistry with everyone on the team? no!!! heart of the team etc etc 😌 idk, i just love love. i love the idea of different types of relationships with different types of people, and the possibilities that come with each type of love. i love the idea of finding a 'true love' in different people (platonic or romantic). and i just love exploring different dynamics!!! like, for ex. charlie/jesse is a completely different dynamic from charlie/adam, so it's fun to be able to write that. HOPEFULLY i'll add to my growing charlie/duck collection in the future
