is it just me or does paintbrush kinda seem to prioritize what they think other people want from them rather than doing what they want? in the first two seasons , that is. i dont really think there are any instances of this in s3?
between their aluminum tree they proclaimed as "perfect" in s1, trying to keep the pizza plain as not to "risk it" and painting steve cobs bcuz they thought mephone would like the painting in s2, and hell, even this new fact we got abt them from brian that they got into art because its what other people expected from them???
ok buddy why dont you do what makes you happy for once. Huh how about that

terrible awful realization
Tumblr media
[image transcript:
arisveah: and the surgery scene was so much more piercing seeing it from a different angle like omg now we have the idea that he was screaming the whole time omg.
best friend: RIGHT
arisveah: (referring to a previous comment about the exposure) "nerd" okay star wars. what am i supposed to do with the knowledge that charlie was screaming for half an hour what the fuck. what do i do with that? poor boy. if he ever escapes his voice is going to be absolutely shot. and plus saying all that (referring to the horror of promoting a future sex channel with your voice and not your authority) on stream- poor man might never say anything again (if he gets out) :(

Okay but like in “Smartphone Hour”, Jenna texts Chloe saying “omg Chlo answer me whoa wait until I tell you what I heard”
When Chloe texts Brooke, she says, “Omg Brooke answer me, look wait until I tell you what I saw”
And I think it highlights a difference between Jenna and Chloe cause Jenna is at least kinda honest. She didn’t see this, she just heard about through Dustin and other kids.
Chloe didn’t see the whole Rich thing though (Mostly cause her reaction to everything is being surprised and curious) but she still said to Brooke, “wait till I tell you what I saw” EVEN THOUGH SHE ONLY HEARD ABOUT IT THROUGH JENNA AND MAYBE IM OVERANALYZING FOR SM THAT ISNT THERE BUT WHATEVER IM TIRED

In my mind Armand erased 1973 because it was a confirmation of his greatest fear. He admitted his insecurity in their relationship, in himself, his guilt-- and it didn't fix or help anything.
Actually it basically made it worse.
Calling out the issues in their relationship, the fact that Louis was able to talk to a random journalist more freely than his own boyfriend of decades, didn't help their relationship, but instead made him want to off himself. Then he realizes his own lies of omission when he has to bite his own tongue talking to that same reporter! Then, maybe in his last attempt at remedying the situation selflessly, he contacts Lestat, the only person who knows what its like to be in a relationship with both of them. But when Lestats clear love for Louis is reminded to Armand, jealousy rears its ugly head and saps the last shred of selflessness out of his mind. Because at this point, Armand has no one but Louis. Louis can always go back to Lestat, he rebounds quickly. But Armand has no coven, has no obsessed ex-boyfriend. No one to take care of him, no one to care for. He's never not been with others, his earliest memory was being treated like cattel, but he was being treated. Thats why he gives up on changing the relationship and grows complacent again. He'd rather be boring than be alone. He'd rather be obedient than be alone. He'd rather sit in the corner, give up himself over to his maître, hide the damage thats been done with some bleach, new paint, forget all thats been done, sell the apartment and move on, literally running from the past.
I lean towards believing Louis actually asked him to erase the memories because I can't imagine Armand being able to forcefully erase them. The words he uses to replace the memory is interesting though. "I could tell you were partial to him. I preserve your happiness even when you don't see it yourself". I bet they're words he'd rather hear himself than tell Louis.

So in Avior's video "Showing You The Ropes" at ~16:30 he talks about how human magic relies on Aria to function, and goes into a diatribe about the "autonomy of the magical races". He says he won't win many friends on the council by implying that humans rely on Aria to use their magical powers. Sifting through his heavy sarcasm here, he's not happy that (generally) empowered humans won't admit that they need Aria to maintain their powers and how humans look down on demons as some sort of parasite deserving of derision or eradication.
What I want to point out, is that Avior ALSO points out that empowered humans "punching through the Meridian" is like a pinprick to the Meridian, negated almost instantly by the overwhelming regenerative powers of the weave. We, as listeners, know this isn't entirely true because of Project Meridian.
What I want to Know is, how do demons know that human magic is from Aria? Human magic damages the Meridian (temporarily, but also cumulatively). Does a human pulling magic through the weave damage the corresponding location in Aria that it's being pulled from? How is that proven as accepted fact, or is it just something "everyone knows"?
Not to sound like a complete and total bastard, the Summit is bringing out the ruthlessness in me, but just because humans need Aria doesn't automatically mean that humanity requires demons/daemons for their magic. If empowered magic does have a negative impact on Aria (like it does on the Meridian) and demons were needed to help mitigate/repair that damage, however, then demons would be necessary for empowered humans to persist in using magic (because humans cannot exist in Aria). On a more sympathetic note, with the difficulty humans are having in Project Meridian to get any info about the Meridian and Aria and the measurable damage humans are causing I think it would be easy for the Chorus to provide evidence to that effect. Not that demons apparently have the numbers to effectively forcibly stop humans from using magic, and the empowered humans have very good motives to bury any demon who tries to disrupt their insistence of false autonomy.
After laying all that out, I think I've convinced myself that the whole magic/Meridian plotline is an extended metaphor for the energy/oil/industrialization crisis, especially when you look at the imminent catastrophe that will happen if the humans can't limit their magic use and the Meridian collapses. Having to officially recognize that these foreigners who's home you're exploiting for your own gain in order to accomplish unimaginable feats of power and precision are people with rights too because your native people can't (won't) survive in the area (Aria) that they're taking advantage of? Dahlia is supposedly in California USA, and while it's no guarantee but many people stick to geographical areas they know well.

Did everyone at some point in their lives have a reoccurring dream about Ben 10?? Because mine happened when I was 6 and I remember snakes and Kevin's car being there. And then I was talking to one of my friends today who also had a Ben 10 reoccurring dream but where a lion ate his toes.
So is this a thing or is it just us?

i can't stop thinking about this scene and how hesitant barbara looked as she was telling the cameras about their tradition. i'm not sure if it was an acting choice or if sheryl kept getting her lines wrong so she wanted it to be perfect but every word barbara says here just seems so calculated. as if she was carefully placing words as she spoke. she looked so uncomfortable. even her saying "you know, in between school madness and family chaos," it came off more as reasoning that she finds spending time with melissa like this, their little tradition, as a "slice of heaven." as if she can't just say she likes spending time with melissa or if she admits that's the only reason it exposes her a little too much. and melissa is standing next to her beaming while barbara looks like she's about to have a breakdown and i love it.

I love the way One Last Stop by Casey McQuinston is titled. Its abviously a reference to the subway, but also Jane and August are both drifters, who refuse to set down roots, but they get to New York and presumably stay there. Its their one last stop.

Ok so I was thinking a little about Yuuji and Sukuna, their whole dynamic. So we know that Sukuna loves torturing and mocking Yuuji, but why? Why does he like it?
I think Sukuna likes to do it because he thinks Yuuji deserves it. What do I mean by that?
Well Yuuji thinks everything is his fault or his responsability. Its his responsability to save people, to stop Sukuna, to be stronger. And its his fault when he fails all of them. When people die, when he cannot stop Sukuna or when he is weak.
In a way Yuuji refuses to accept life as it is, but as it SHOULD be. He wants everyone to have a satisfying death, but there is no such thing as a satisfying death. Death is just death. Death is simply a result of being alive. Its not satisfying nor unsatisfying. It just is.
Yuuji refuses to accept tragedy and that is just another aspect of life. Sometimes we live until we grow old, sometimes we die randomly because we were hit by a car, or we die because we were struck by lightning. Sometimes it is expected, sometimes it is unexpected. No matter how joyful a day can be, it can turn sour anytime. And most of the time that is out of our control. We control very little in life. Maybe not even ourselves.
So Yuuji is wrong. And that is why Sukuna mocks him.

Day 1,234 of talking about chalengers:
I think i saw someone else hint at it but I like the theory that both Tashi and Art were both depressed. They're experiencing this persistent low mood so that even though they're achieving so much and experiencing moments that should bring them happiness, they're not able to enjoy it. They're just going through the motions and doing what they can to make it through the day, so they can make it through the week.
And there's probably no one who would be telling them it's not okay to feel that way because to most people they probably look normal and fine. After all they're winning accolades! Which is probably just affirming that they should continue this behavior.
Nobody knows them well enough to know that they weren't always like that. So everyday they're playing like who they're supposed to be than who they actually are.
Patrick shakes their status quo.
I think this is why they're so angry at Patrick when they first see him after so long because for whatever reason he doesn't seem to be as depressed as they are! He's out here just trying to have fun.
And he isn't pretending to be anyone else. And that is upsetting when they've convinced themselves that they couldn't do that. It's a distressing shock to their system.
Which is why they need him, because Patrick is not someone just going through the motions. He lives life avoiding responsibilities in some of the most ridiculous ways as long as it was his choice. He reminds them that tennis can be more than a job, it can be fun!
They're caught up in playing the long game and he makes them pay attention to the moment they're in right now. He makes them see that something insignificant in the long run (the New Rochelle Challenger) can be worthwhile if you are fully present for it.
Which is one of the key things I think to coming out of a depression, is not letting the responsibilities of life stop you from enjoying your life. Not letting the big picture stop you from enjoying the little moments. Enjoying some part of where/who you are, not where/who you think you should be.

Why is Hamlet so afraid of his own father? Though he speaks very highly of him, each appearance of the Ghost sends him into shakes and tears.
"Angels and ministers of grace defend us!"
"Speak! I am bound to hear!"
("If thou didst ever thy dear father love--") "Oh GOD!"
"Hold, hold, my heart, and you, my sinews, grow not instant old, but bear me stiffly up."
"Save me and hover o'er me with your wings, you heavenly guards!"
"Then what I have to do will want true color--- tears perchance for blood."
It's not likely hamlets father was an abusive one. Definitely flawed, since he is so desperate from his time in purgatory that he would command kinslaying from his own son. Kinslaying was a huge taboo back then, people believed that killing your own blood family could generate a powerful curse. Sons were just as much the property of their fathers as daughters were. Whatever King Hamlet wants, however awful, Hamlet is bound to do it. Because a) he's his father, and b) it's the wishes of the dead. You CANNOT break the deads wishes.
And then, is it because King Hamlet was so fearsome? He was a soldier. There's a reason he's in purgatory now instead of in heaven. Claudius struck him down before his sins could be forgiven, presumably, fairly terrible sins. War crimes, murder. Its possible for Daddy Hamlet to have been a cruel man while also being a loving father and husband. Is Hamlet so afraid because he's seeing his dad's wicked side?
And then there's the fact that Hamlet himself is someone who, while he idealized suicide, dreads death and the afterlife. The only thing that stops him from killing himself is fear of the beyond.
"But that dread of something after death,
The undisclosed country from whose bourn
No traveler returns, puzzles the will
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all..."
The Ghost of his father reminds him that there IS something beyond Death. And it doesn't help that the Ghost boasts of terrible secrets of the grave that he cannot disclose.
"But I am forbid
To tell the secrets of my prison house,
I could a tale unfold whose lightest word
Would harrow up thy soul, freeze thy young blood..."
So why is Hamlet so disturbed? Because of his father's fearsomeness? Because of the awful task he demands of him? Because of Hamlets fear of death? Or maybe all at once?

Did Digimon Ghost Game's latest episode have way better animation quality than the last few episodes? Cause, like, even just the shading on the characters looked different. Kind of reminds me of the animation style they used for the og movies back in the day.
