Okay, so Ossan’s Love Th ep 1 was fun!

It was silly and funny without being cringe to me, and I like all the characters so far!

Yeah Heng is childish and really needs to mature some but he’s also really kind and helpful to others.

The boss could’ve easily been creepy with having a crush on his subordinate, and I’m sure that’ll make things messy along the way, but he was actually being very respectful up until he decided to confess. Idk how he’ll be now, but he seems like a nice person.

Mo is shy and a little insecure but he’s done letting chances slip past and he said this time I’m fighting for what I want! Love that for him!

I haven’t seen the original, I know very little spoilers. Obviously I know who Heng will choose in the end, but I don’t know the journey of how we get there. All I know is I enjoy Earth and Mix, I’m glad they get to be silly, and I’m looking forward to seeing how this plays out!

I never actually explained why I started playing the Silent Hill 2 remake. As many people have pointed out, it is an absolutely wild choice (complex, difficult, scary, LONG) for my first video game. (I’m a mobile gamer, I wasn’t allowed to play video games as a kid, etc.) 

Since Jacksepticeye has come back to Tumblr, I’ll be a dork and say that I became a big fan of his channel over the last couple of years, and I started watching game playthroughs generally to wind down at night. I’ll basically watch anything he plays, and in October, he played the new remake. I was maybe 20 when the original came out, but I didn’t know shit about Silent Hill. Something about Pyramid Head, The Scariest Games Ever, not really my thing, but sure. I started watching and... didn’t really get into it. Planets weren’t aligned that day, idk. I let it keep running, went on to the second video, and then we hit THIS scene:

That music comes in out of NOWHERE like strong perfume and I was like, what the fuck is this game, why is the acting so good, what is HAPPENING, I love it. 

For several weeks, I was obsessed with the Akira Yamaoka soundtrack (both versions) and the story. The Actual Autism fully kicked in, and it was better than dealing with the rest of November 2024. I watched multiple people play the game, learned everything about it, didn’t care about the combat, never thought I’d play it myself. 

And then, two months into this... I kinda... I kinda wanted to fight a leg monster. A mannequin. THEY ARE SO SASSY AND THEY’RE SMART despite having no heads. I wanted to engage in noble fisticuffs (anklicuffs?) with these things. I am proud to say that I have gone from getting stuck in the parking lot on day one to actually being really good at fighting mannequins. (It’s the lying figures that get me. Fucking splash-damage motherfuckers.) Over ten hours of practice play in the first three levels of the game, I’ve only died twice so far (and both times were when the game BOXED ME IN and swarmed me with vomit monsters. Rude).

So anyway, I decided to play the game, and @idoherty451 and I started discussing it in excessive depth, and now I want to do a text commentary for sure, and a video gameplay (voice) commentary if I can get that up and running; I already have some rough reaction audio that I've been posting. I just want all this (and the software I’m learning) to be a new set of tools in my “having fun discussing media” box, really. That said, I don’t know how far I’ll actually take the practice run, now that it’s fulfilled its purpose and I’ve diagnosed that my hapless ass needs to be on light combat. I’ve even played South Vale 2-3 times to develop basic skills! I’m doing so good! So it’s helped to do a first run, get through “I’m lost for half an hour” snarls, and practice moving the camera more smoothly. I may leave off with playing ahead before I get to the last two bosses years from now at this rate and let y’all see that happen, for better or worse, without any prep. 

The whole premise here is that I want to walk through the game and talk about all the lore and easter eggs and theories I’ve learned about. It will be the opposite of spoiler-free (minus That One Big Thing I won’t give away). If you would like to watch spoiler-free playthroughs of this long-ass game, I also recommend Marz (new to the franchise) and Gab Smolders (huge OG fan). 

Anyway, this is what I’ll be doing tomorrow while actively ignoring U.S. politics. James Sunderland has some very specific problems, and unlike mine, he can hit most of them with a steel pipe. Wish me luck with Pyramid Head.

Rambling about my 3ds because I love your blog and I love Nintendo consoles! So growing up I never had a console, I would play Animal Jam on my shitty Samsung tablet but I always dreamed of having a 3ds. Last summer I finally got one (second-hand ofc), it’s a black o3dsxl and I love it. Flashforward to october 2023, I start a Sonic hyperfixation (idek how that happened don't ask). Now my ultimate goal is to make my 3ds as Sonic-themed as possible. Thank you homebrew for existing. Anyway here's my child:

I got the theme on Theme Plaza, the artwork is from Sonic 2 and the music playing in the background (which you can’t hear because my dumbass is too lazy to record a video) is a remix of Emerald Hill Zone (also from Sonic 2).

Speaking of the devil, I happen to have the 3ds port of this game:

It’s kinda meh though I prefer the mobile port.

I also have a few other games installed, such as Sonic Rush for the ds (rom hack) and Sonic Unleashed 3ds (fan port/remake, it’s only a demo atm but I believe it’s still being worked on!).

As for my cartridges, I’ve got these:

Sonic Colors ds, my favorite one (the u in the title stands for european), Sonic Generations 3ds (this game’s fine I prefer the console version but this one’s okay ig) and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (haven’t played it a lot but it’s fun!).

Anyways that’s it for now, if I ever add more Sonic to my 3ds maybe I’ll post it idk

idk anything about the resident evil franchise outside of re7/8 (i was mainly interested in ethans character)

so i just wanna ask why it wouldve made more sense for claire to show up instead of chris

Oh my gosh I was hoping someone would ask!

I think the simplest answer is, while Chris’ main concern has always been and always will be Umbrella and its activities, so it’s not unrealistic that he shows up, Claire’s main concerns are civilians that are victims of bioterrorism and bioweapons.

Now, I’m gonna assume you don’t know the lore super well so I’ll give you a bit of background: Claire Redfield herself was a civilian caught up in a huge act of bioterrorism in 1998. By 2004 she was working with back then just establish organization called TerraSave. The main mission of this organization is to provide aid and evacuation for victims of bioterrorism. She made saving people her life mission, and, if my memory serves me right, in Death Island she even gets criticized for focusing mainly on saving people instead of working on outright preventing the things they need to be saved from.

Now, what does Chris do at the end of RE7? He saves Ethan and Mia (who, as far as anyone is concerned, are civilians) and evacuates them from the sight of a bioterrorism threat. That is his sister’s job. Literally. And it would’ve been great to see TerraSave actually, actively in action.

It could also make for a far more interesting conflict in re8 if Ethan never properly met Chris before the events of it - having Chris barge in and kill his wife and kidnap his child would be way more shocking if he only semi-recognized him from Claire’s descriptions. And then later in the game seeing Claire and Chris together, and finally getting answers, as well as getting to see their dynamic, would be both more satisfying for Ethan and for the fans of classic games.

Why didn’t it happen? Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they didn’t have an updated model for Claire since they significantly changed the way she looked in the re2 remake, making even her DI model look like it’s not the same person. Maybe Claire having to be around 40 to appear in the game melted off their puny coward hearts. Maybe they forgot what her job was and just wanted to push in Chris because he’s one of the all-time fan favorites. Maybe they wanted to but couldn’t fit all her swagger in the budget. Maybe she was making sweet passionate love to Leon Kennedy and couldn’t come to the phone. Who knows!

All I know is that it could’ve been much better.

OK SO my Luxury AU has been MANIFESTING MOI cuz i decided: why yes I WILL make a fic bout it!! Yknow just remaking the lore[cough this means me rewriting the first book of DogMan] and putting some stuff into one work ^ ^’ SO FAR I’m really getting into the vibes but what’s crazy is how I turned what I THOUGHT was oughta be a comedy-to a tragedy. No like I KNOW IM GONNA WRITE CUTE STUFF I WILL I JUST-….also might’ve included grief, addiction, ETC I dont even know how I got there 🙂‍↔️but it’s been fun! Ooh, good question! The only other character I can think of is Lilia, but he wasn’t as confusing as Malleus: his design threw us off, but the moment Lilia opened his mouth, we figured him out lol

We really very rarely have problems with that, because it’s more about feeling the vibe of a character than anything else.

But Malleus really did confuse us for quite some time…

We know of it, but we aren’t even remotely closely familiar with the lore and stuff, but we actually went and read a bit about Jhin and Hwei after receiving your ask and YEP WE GET IT LOL to be honest we’re flattered that you thought that we might like them… they really do have an interesting dynamic, and the fact that it’s rooted in deep feelings about art and has some much despair and inner and outer conflict honestly makes it very spicy.

There you go, another interesting way to make Kalim overblot! I like how it’s still related to him feeling responsibility + despair because of Jamil’s death, it seems like this is the main trigger for Kalim to get an emotional reaction of this magnitude.

(Tried making this post a different way but it felt like I got too needlessly hot-headed about any chance of any Paldean Pokémon being in Z-A) Passionfruit and Apple, photobombing photos of the trio I want for the Z-A starter trio isn’t going to magically grant you access to [insert time period here] Kalos, even though in this situation they are absolutely getting regional variants at least just to be fair given Blaziken already has a Mega (also I think the current general theory is regional variants of a mix-and-match starter trio plus Kalos starters with Megas and I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t be too mad at us just getting the Kalos starters either. I chose both of my top 2 favourite starters his gen (Meowscarada and Quaquaval) so let me choose my third-favourite too (Delphox). That would be fun. Especially given I like to count Wake and Leaves as Mythicals so in Violet I’d have my favourite starter (Spriggie the Meowscarada) and favourite Mythical (Cherry the Iron Leaves), in Scarlet I have my second favourite starter (Quax the Quaquaval) and second favourite Mythical (Blueberry the Walking Wake) and then in Z-A I could complete the trios by having my third favourite starter (Delphox, which I think I’d call Fennec, to match the one I have in GO that follows the same name scheme as the Quaxwell and Meowscarada I have in GO who share names with my starters in Scarlet and Violet respectively) and my third favourite Mythical (Zeraora. I don’t think I’m keeping up the fruit name scheme I’ve been using for the Proto Beasts and Neo Swords I’m happy to just call it Zera))

But I think it’s a pretty good choice of starter trio (and not just because I love them all):

Meganium is pretty and can represent Kalos’s beauty theme, now with flowers. I guess it would also benefit from having a secondary type (although that doesn’t stop people from loving Sceptile, something I clearly didn’t realise until I saw someone on idk maybe Reddit say that Grass-type Starters would be more popular if Meganium and Sceptile swapped trios) but this was more supposed to be why I think individually each starter I chose has a pretty decent chance of being in Z-A if we get a mix-and-match starter trio (not that one of them being in the trio makes the other two any less likely but I’d be surprised if I somehow managed to get every single starter for Z-A right just because I was biased when I picked these)

Blaziken got its Mega early in X and Y even though the other Hoenn Starters had to wait until ORAS plus it can reference the remakes like how PLA had Cyndaquil. Just generally I think it would be a missed opportunity to forget about it

Also why is it the most common pairing of a Proto Beast with any Neo Sword they’re not counterparts with is Fire and Crown? At one point I even thought the two of them were the most likely members of their trios to join UNITE. Plus my headcanons that the shiny Proto Beasts and shiny Neo Swords have different personalities to their non-shiny instances (I guess I’ve decided that there’s only two of each of them: a shiny and a non-shiny) has led to the two of them being the closest to their shiny counterparts personality-wise (and I realised in general Fire seems to be the most feral out of the six of them and Crown seems to be the most stoic out of the six of them because while their counterparts from the other trio have similar personalities to them, Boulder is more scheming and Bolt is more grumpy (it’s called Raging Bolt for a reason))

Been working on yet another project lol. This might actually come to fruition sooner though so theres that lol. Probably gonna upload it on webtoon or something idk. Maybe I’ll just post it here or some personal site if I care enough to shill out the money for that. But I’m having fun regardless. I love drawing these characters lol. I’ll definitely post the finished version once all the fine details are done and the colors have been done by my fabulous friend (or by the considerably less fabulous and stylish me)

In other news, I’ve really been craving Final Fantasy lately. Just bought the twin pack for FF7 remake and rebirth so I may draw Cloud or most likely Barret because gun arms and eco terrorism is kewl. In the meantime enjoy this lol :D

Heya still no update. Sorry for missing the past few. I forgot about them and didn’t feel like doing it.

Things that happened: I had a hockey game and probably failed my math test

Log: still going insane. But that’s fine. I’m overthinking a lot. But that’s probably normal so. Anyway. I’ve started to learn Portuguese for no reason other than to pass time. My friend is learning it too so we can speak together but even me trying to learn that is restricted by my parents. I’m also starting to write another undertale AU with my friend. Might talk about that tomorrow, idk. Tomorrow hopefully I’ll be back for the weekend. It really sucks having to write these things and end up forgetting half of what I wanted to write. Anyway I got distracted. But for this AU, I’m trying to make a soundtrack. Then I realized there isn’t even a story :D. I’ll probably just remake most of the undertale themes and then add in what ever else I need/remove soundtracks I don’t need. This won’t be uploaded anywhere, I might post them here and YouTube, but other than that, I don’t see it going up on any music site. Just for fun. Just really another thing I’m learning. Not sure how a lot of this will help me in the future. Maybe it’ll show my parents I’m not on my phone all the time or maybe that I’m not lazy. But then again they hate anything I do that isn’t for them, school, hockey, or other clubs I’m in. Hobbies are just stupid I guess. I’m still technically not listening to them much considering when I’m drawing on my computer I’m really just watching YouTube or on discord and tumblr. I mean I do actually draw too. But. That’s also my only opportunity to be on here. So.

Anyway I’m doing my best. Sorry for the lack of newsletters these past days. There will be another one later, I’m doing two today because of the day I missed.
