I remember overhearing a kid at my school talk about how he hoped the apocalypse would happen so he wouldn’t have to study for a math test.
Do kids these days know about when a lot of people thought the world was gonna end on december 21st 2012

-Wayne
-Billy Hargrove
-Angel Reyes
-Benny O’Donnell
-Tyler Owens
-Jake Seresin…?

Things I learned this morning that I wish I hadn’t:
1) That fucking Nancy Lieder theory involving a fake planet that’s going to collide with Earth and cause a pole shift is STILL AROUND, even though the world demonstrably failed to end in 2003, and then failed again in 2012, and it looks like there was a collision that didn’t happen in 2017-2018 also.
2) I guess we once again successfully evaded collision with Nibiru on Friday 8/18/2023. Great job gang!
3) Seriously though does anyone want to explain the psychology behind how often people will just double down and confidently reschedule when apocalypse predictions fail, because it’s fascinating.

I graduated High School in 2012. My entire high school joked about the seniors that year being "the last graduates of humanity". We lamented with our underclassmen that they would never "walk" (graduate). It was a solemn affair. I, and many other former classmates, organized on Facebook the day before December 12 2012. We wished each other a happy apocalypse! Then, as anticipated, the minute passed and nothing changed. We then mourned together the fact that we still did, in fact, have to continue living into adulthood. We still had to show up at college the following day. Rip to our missed opportunity of escaping adulthood.
The movie, 2012, released in 2009 and was the funniest meme of my freshman year. A bunch of us freshman saw it at the local theater together as a special bonding moment. (As Millenials do). We had a blast watching one of the worst movies that year. It was absolute garbage and I haven't watched it since. But it will always hold a special place in my heart.
randomly remembering the time in 2012 when everyone kept saying the world was going to end at midday that day and like, i didnt really believe it, but i didnt want to be a complete fool if i was wrong, so i excused myself from class to go sit the field and perfectly timed the beat drop to a skrillex song just in case something happened. and im just. retroactively amused by the idea of ushering in the appocalypse with skrillex. most 2012 thing you could possibly do.

Snow in July
Tumblr media
Hello readers, and glad many of you still are. The title for today’s blog comes from a conversation I had with a stranger last spring while waiting for the bus. She told me her name and we talked about God, life, and current events. She mentioned the weather we are having and how “crazy” it was (quotes mine) and how she remembered it snowing in July one time in Richmond, VA. I shared with her that I had a dream once about it hailing in here in June “Lo, and behold”, as my mom used to say, it did two months later lol.
Vanessa Williams the real Miss America had a song “Save the Best for Last” that mentioned the snow coming down in June. Now, before you get any ideas about the stranger’s and my relationship, the change in the weather pattern since the pandemic is very noteworthy.
As I have mentioned to some family and friends the Mayan Calendar predicted a great cataclysm in the year 2012. In the span of human history being eight years off isn’t too shabby. It caused me to look at the Roman Calendar we use with some suspicion.
The pandemic itself also caused me to draw closer to my faith as it prophesied in Revelations in scripture concerning the four horsemen of the apocalypse, which means revelation.
Acts 2:17 talks about God pouring his spirit on everyone and our “sons and daughters” prophesying and our “young men” seeing “visions” and our “old men” having “dreams”. -New America Standard Bible. A middle school classmate of mine brought this to my attention around the year 2012 and I took hold of it at the time as well as some words he’d said God told him: to not “hold back”
We are in some of the most trying times in human history and ‘though we’ve made some great strides it is no time to stop now. Many signs from my faith what I call “Born-again Christianity” point to this and all people of faiths and knowledge are being tested. Hold fast to God, love, faith, and hope; and press on.
Until next time, remember God loves you and so do I.
