Maya and Art first study session/meeting

Art looked over in the library, seeing a familiar pale face, a girl from his math class sitting with her head in her hands, seeming frustrated and angry. He slowly walked up to her nervously. "Hey, excuse me?" His voice soft and raspy from the hours of studying.

She looks up seeing the blonde boy. He wore a standford hoodie with tennis team written under it and black shorts. "Hi?" She says, wondering what he needed.

"I saw you were struggling, and well, I'm in the same class as you. I've seen you in there before and thought I could offer you help, " he stammered over his words, his nerves getting the best of him.

Maya smiles, leaning onto the table more than before, her red hair falling onto the desk due to its length. "How do you know I was struggling with math. I could've been struggling with something else, " she says, wanting to mess with him. Art didn't know how to respond, now feeling like he was being a creep. He rubbed the back of his neck for a second, finding words before she spoke up again. "I'm kidding. It is math," she pauses, smiling and watching as he smiles himself. "I would love your help." Her voice is so soft and sweet like a sugary snack late at night.

Art chuckled at her comment, then pulled the seat out that was in front of her. "Great," pausing for a moment to get his things back out. "I'm Art, by the way." he reaches out a hand. She smiles, taking his "I know." she has a soft smirk on her lips. Making him blush.

"I'm Maya," her voice playful and still smooth. Art returns her playful smirk. "I know." they share a look before Art gets pulled back to reality, reaching for his notebook he spoke up. "So where do you need my help?" She smiles, looks down, flips through her notebook.

Here they went to the hospital at the same time. Kai took a selfie and accidentally had a blush filter on. Also, Kai is upset because he thinks that he looks bad (he couldn’t shave there and he‘s obsessed about his looks). Skye is a cutie.

With them being at the four different corners of the world and just about being entirely different people than they were in the Alliance, correspondence between them had all but stopped long before they even had their kids. They all still kept somewhat in touch with Wu, though, as per B1Ch16. Just to...varying degrees.

did they know about the disappearances/deaths/banishment that happened during that time period <- Libber wouldn't have known a single thing since she went missing near-immediately after Jay was born, while Ray and May obviously knew about the banishment since that's the whole reason Wu brought them the map, but then they disappeared themselves a year later. Aurora and Lilly may have known about the banishment, but then they both went and died and took the info with them (and Lilly actually went first; I dunno if I ever specified that one, but Cole was around 13 when he lost his mom, and Zane was 15 when he lost his. ...in a bitter fit of irony, Aurora got to be a parent for the longest, not counting Koko hnnng)

Anyway, all the main kids were born between 1994-1997, with Garmadon being banished in '98. So, take that info as you will.

An unedited snippet of a new Ninjago fic I’m working on. The title is Fractured Bonds.

Skylor sat in the passenger seat of the red sports car, her hair tousled by the wind. Closing her eyes, she finally was able to relax. Running a noodle restaurant was exhausting. Feeling Kai place a hand on her thigh she smiled moving her hand to hold his.

“Fare warning, because Nya’s pregnant my mom might pester you about having kids,” Kai laughed as he thought about how excentric his mother could get.

Skylor squeezed Kai’s hand reassuringly, a laugh escaping her lips, “I’ll be sure to prepare for that.” Honestly, she didn’t care if Maya asked about kids, any conversation with her mother-in-law was an enjoyable one for Skylor, not to mention that she had found out she was actually pregnant and was waiting until they made it to the Smith’s residences in Ignacia to tell anyone.

As the couple pulled into the small rice-farming village the sun had begun its descent behind the horizon. Pulling up to the blacksmith shop Skylor saw that Nya and Maya were already waiting outside.

Nya, with a noticeable baby bump, waved excitedly as Skylor and Kai parked the car. Maya, Kai's mother, beamed at them, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.

"Skylor! Kai!" Nya called out, her voice filled with warmth. "So glad you could make it!"

Skylor and Kai stepped out of the car, the warm evening breeze gently playing with Skylor's hair once again. Kai put an arm around Skylor, and they walked towards Nya and Maya.

“Hey guys, it’s been a while. How’s everything at the restaurant?” Jay asked as he and Ray walked outside. Noticing his wife’s struggle to stand up Jay offered Nya a hand while Kai and Skylor embraced Maya.

“I mean other than the occasional shitty customer things have been going great,” Kai answered, walking over and giving Jay a fist bump. “What about you? CTO of Borg Industries, that’s pretty big.”

Jay grinned, reciprocating the fist bump. "Yeah, it's been a wild ride. But nothing beats the excitement of starting a family," he said, looking down at Nya, who had successfully stood up with his help.

Nya chuckled, placing a hand on her baby bump. "It's a whole new adventure for sure. I can't wait for our little ninja to join the team."

“Well why don’t you guys come on in, the soba is ready,” Ray said, ushering the rest of the Smith family inside.

As the family ate and laughed, Skylor couldn’t help but place a hand on her abdomen. Looking up when Maya addressed her, “So Skylor, have you and Kai given any more thought to having kids?”

Chuckling a bit, Skylor answered, “Funny you should mention that. We’re actually expecting.”

Maya's eyes widened with joy as she heard Skylor's announcement. She gasped, her hands flying to her mouth in delight. "Oh, Skylor! That's wonderful news! Kai, did you know about this?"

Kai grinned, shaking his head in amusement. “No, I’m assuming she wanted to tell everyone at the same time.”

Maya squealed with excitement, pulling Skylor into a tight hug. "I'm going to be a grandmother! This is amazing news! See Ray, I told you having the whole family get together for the holidays would be a good idea."

Ray chuckled, looking at Maya with a twinkle in his eye. "You always have a way of making things special, dear. Jay, you said your parents would be coming in tomorrow, correct?” Jay nodded, swallowing the dumpling he had shoved into his mouth so that he could talk.

"Yes, they're starting their drive tonight. I'm sure they'll be thrilled to hear the news," Jay replied, a big smile on his face.

Nya, still glowing with the excitement of impending motherhood, added, "It's going to be a full house for the holidays. I can't wait!"

Skylor smiled to herself as the warmth of the Smith house enveloped her. She couldn’t ask for a better family. Did she miss her dad, sure. But she would forever be grateful that Kai and the others helped her escape from the living hell that was Chen’s Island.

The evening continued with laughter, shared stories, and the comforting aroma of delicious food filling the Smith house. Skylor felt a deep sense of contentment as she sat among the people she now considered her family. The news of her pregnancy added an extra layer of joy to the gathering, and she couldn't have been happier to share the moment with Kai, Nya, and the rest of the Smiths.

As the night unfolded, the group gathered in the living room. Maya, beaming with pride, couldn't resist sharing anecdotes about Kai's childhood, much to his playful embarrassment. Skylor and Kai exchanged knowing glances, grateful for the warmth and love surrounding them.

In the midst of the festivities, the realization struck her: she had found a home, not just a place to live, but a family that welcomed her with open arms. The Smiths had become her anchors, providing love and support that she had never experienced before.

As the night wound down, Skylor and Kai found a quiet moment together. They stood on the porch, looking at the starry sky above the rice fields. The tranquility of the night mirrored the peace Skylor felt in her heart. Kai wrapped his arms around her, and together, they marveled at the journey that had brought them to this point.

As they gazed at the stars, Skylor whispered, "I'm grateful for everything, Kai. For you, for them," gesturing towards the lively house behind them.

Kai kissed her forehead, his voice soft, "And I'm grateful for you, Skylor. We've come a long way, haven't we?"

They stood there, hand in hand, embracing the moment and looking forward to the new chapter that awaited them. The future held uncertainties, but with the love of family and each other, Skylor and Kai felt ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

Unbeknownst to them a storm was brewing in the distant horizon, clouds gathering in ominous formations. Yet, in that serene moment on the porch, Skylor and Kai remained blissfully unaware of the approaching tempest.

The next morning, before the sun had even finished its ascension, the quiet atmosphere was disrupted by the roar of an engine and the bright Christmas lights strung around the car.

“Hey mum and dad. How was your drive?” Jay asked groggily as he walked out to greet his parents.

“Oh, you know, same as always. Your father got us lost and one of the headlights went out but we made it,” Edna replied, stepping out of The Jalopy and embracing her son.

“Good morning Mr. And Mrs. Walker, glad you could make it,” Nya grinned, slowly walking over to the Walkers.

“Oh, Nya dear! You should be resting, not worrying about us,” Edna said, trying to push the water ninja back inside.

“I’m fine, really. I'm just excited to have everyone together for the holidays," Nya reassured, gently resisting Edna's attempt to usher her back inside.

“Well you two got here just in time, I just finished the coffee,” Ray said as he helped Ed lug the bags inside.

The day was full of festivities, the woman making cookies and decorating the house while the men went out to cut down a tree.

The evening culminated in a grand feast, where the extended family gathered around a table adorned with dishes that represented a fusion of cultures. The air was filled with gratitude, stories, and the clinking of glasses.

“Well the first day of the family gathering was a success!” Jay announced, his cheerful smile faltering when there was a panicked knock at the door.

“I’ll go get it,” Maya offered, pushing her chair away from the table and walking away to the entrance of the house.

Opening the door she let out a small gasp. In front of her stood an old friend. Her blonde hair was disheveled and her blue eyes were looking around frantically as if she was being followed.

Maya's expression shifted from surprise to concern as she recognized the distressed figure at the door. Without hesitation, she ushered her old friend inside, closing the door behind her.

“Ray, could you come here for a minute,” Maya called to her as she sat the other woman on the couch.

Walking into the living room Ray’s smile fell when he saw the other person, “Libber, what are you doing here? Didn’t you leave to Cancester Isles with the intention of never returning?”

Libber looked up at Ray, her eyes filled with a mix of desperation and regret. "Ray, I didn't plan on coming back, but things have changed. I need your help. It's about Chen and a threat that could affect everyone."

Ray's expression hardened, and he exchanged a serious glance with Maya. The festive atmosphere of the family gathering hung in the air, momentarily disrupted by the unexpected arrival and the weight of unresolved history.

“Hey, is everything okay in here,” Kai asked as the others walked in.

“Not exactly, but before I explain I believe introductions are in order.” The room was blanketed with a tense atmosphere, “Everyone this is Libber and Libber the only one you don’t know is Skylor.” Maya said, gesturing to the redhead.

Libber nodded at the introductions, her eyes scanning the faces in the room and quickly dropping when she saw Jay.

Jay, sensing the tension, spoke up, "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, Libber. What brings you to Ignacia?"

Libber took a deep breath, her eyes avoiding Jay's gaze. "I never thought I'd return, but I discovered something that poses a threat to everyone here. It's about Chen returning, the possibility of Nerola still being alive and a dangerous plot. I need your help.”

Skylor’s heart started racing at the mention of her parents and the possibility of them no longer being dead.

Jordan Hatchett, formerly Smith, was born into a wealthy family in the UK. Her father was often away on business trips in America, and she missed him dearly. Jordan was raised by her nanny and grew into a beautiful, upper-class woman. By the age of fifteen, she and her mother moved to America to live with her father. Jordan was a curious child and read many books, which led her to beg her father to take her along on his business trips.

One day, he was called to sign a contract with Cornwall Kerosene & Tar in New Hanover. After some sweet talking, Jordan convinced her father to take her with him. They stayed in a hotel in Valentine for nearly a month. Her father was out of town frequently, and she quickly grew bored of staying inside. She would take long walks alone around the town and through the forests, admiring nature. It inspired her to write. Jordan would often sit by the river on a rock, where she could be alone, until one day she was caught off guard by a man sneaking around with a bow, paying her no attention. He appeared to be hunting. She watched as he aimed his bow at a deer and missed his shot. He cursed under his breath, and she laughed, which piqued his interest.

That was how Jordan met Sebastian Hatchett. She soon learned that he was only a few years older than her and a member of a small outlaw gang. He began visiting her hotel room every day when her father was out, and they would talk for hours, both sitting on the bed. By the end of the month, as she was preparing to leave Valentine, Sebastian confessed his love for her. She promised to return one day, and they both agreed not to get involved with anyone else until they met again.

Three years later, after her mother passed away, Jordan decided to return to Valentine on her own, hoping to see Sebastian again. She stayed in the same hotel room and visited the same spot by the river where they had first met. Luckily for her, Sebastian still visited that spot at least once a week when he had the time. They reunited, and after a week of catching up, Sebastian proposed. She accepted, and they were soon married.

Sebastian introduced her to his gang, and she began living with them in his tent. He taught her how to ride a horse, handle a gun, and take care of herself. Jordan lived with them for eight years, enjoying the adventurous life of an outlaw. But one day, the gang was attacked by a rival gang, and many members were killed, including Sebastian. She was the only one who survived, thanks to Sebastian's sacrifice. The law quickly arrived, and she was arrested and locked in a cell.

Jordan was transferred to Sisika and charged with murder and theft, sentenced to death. Fortunately, she managed to escape. With no money or clothes, she found work on a ranch, keeping a low profile while trying to rebuild her life. She mourned her husband deeply.

At the ranch, she grew fond of a mare named Maya. The ranch owner, being kind, allowed her to keep the horse, and the two quickly formed a strong bond. After a year, Jordan had saved enough money to get back on her feet. With her earnings, she bought guns, some new clothes, and became determined to seek revenge for her husband's death.

Has some. Very mixed feelings about her new life. Mainly guilt because she loves it (and also joy because she loves it).

Cares enough to find Shaun to find him better parents (she did not want to have him at all). Once she finds out that he's a whole adult she stops caring altogether.

On a surprisingly related note, how she got that scar! So one night after winning a big case, she ends up tripping on the courthouse steps and busting her lip open. Standard bad luck. She lives close enough to the courthouse that she walks to and from work, but not nearly close enough to the hospital to walk there, and she figures, based on how much blood there is, that she'll need stitches. Also ambulances are expensive so that's out. Thankfully, there's an off duty detective with a heart of gold that happens to be driving by just as she falls. Serendipitous to say the least. She asks if he can drive her to the hospital, he says yes, they exchange names but it's September 2077 so neither of them will end up remembering. Before they party ways she invites him and his fiancée to her Halloween party that will totally happen and not get cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

Became a public defense lawyer (the most overworked and underpaid lawyers) because she genuine believes in helping the less fortunate in anyway she can, even though being a corpo lawyer would net her so much money. Fights for equal rights at every chance she gets and brings this energy to the Commonwealth Wasteland post war.

Is the fiercest defender of marriage equality and the necessary rights relating to it because she believes it's the right thing to do (she also understands the pain of being married to someone you don't actually love).

Speaking of her husband, she only married him in order to not drown in debt while attending law school (he wanted the extra military benefits and also the status symbol of having a wife). They do not get divorced because Societal Convention. This is why she practices law with her maiden name. (Call her Connie Smith and she might actually kill you.)

Loves building robots. Its her favorite pastime honestly. Given that, it's funny that she hates power armor as much as she does (and yet she has a collection)

her other besties are Preston and Ada and she doesn't like Piper. Everyone else she vaguely knows but not nearly as well as Nick. Oh! She thinks Ellie is really nice.

She's named after Conner from DBH. I couldn't think of the name "Connie" fast enough, so Condor (like the bird) stuck.

Her middle name is Maya because every time I lose track of Nick in game, I will run around the map and yell, "Nick? Nick? Nick, it's Larry. I- I think I killed him" until I find him again. For those who are uncultured unaware, that is a line from the opening scene of the Random Encounters Phoenix Wright Musical (and also Maya Fey's first line).

Originally Condor was going to get her scar from a knife attack, but then I thought about how that would come off in the context of a knight in shining armor swooping in to save her and decided that it would probably best to go in a different direction.

Michael Flud (SEPTEMBER 23RD) is one of my oldest characters and one of the ones that has gone through the most changes. He literally came to me in a dream. Originally his story was about alien technology and dumb teenagers getting taken over by it but then it changed into something I can only call "a multiverse fantasy about the death of the artist". This universe is also where my persona lives

Maya Smith (DEATHWALK) is a person I'VE WANTED TO TALK ABOUT FOR YEARS BECAUSE I HAVE SO MANY IDEAS ABOUT HER AND HER WORLD. She's a girl who got kidnapped as a baby by a cult called "The Church of God's Tears" and is raised believing in its practices. She's friends with two other people in the church, Helen nolastname and Claudia Lalima. Maya and Helen eventually find eachother very close and secretly have a lesbian love story under the very homophobic cult's nose. This is eventually found out (also Maya saw something she shouldn't have seen) and she's killed in cold blood by Father Liam in secret.

She later wakes up in a void with four other people; Daichi Higake, Neko Satsujin, Maku Sajidō, and Jared Incendis, all of whom I could ramble about for hours on as well. This is where the story actually begins and the group has to find a way through multiple rooms and dimensions until they find a way out of this strange place (they don't know they're dead). All the while, a plot from a third party source unravels around them, and the gamemaster of their misfortune, Adaline, continues to torment them throughout.

Yes, the ability remains the same from Master to Master, but they way they manifest has a chance to differ. Sometimes, but not always.

Brice’s visions manifested like Zane’s -> somewhat rare and impossible to call on command, but guaranteed to come true. Upon having Aurora, who did not inherit the Element but inherited the ability, Brice lost the ability to use it himself.

Aurora, meanwhile, had the ability to call upon visions at will, but what she saw was not always guaranteed to come to be (this comes back as a thing in S2 and S3 for Zangst)

Earth Punch is actually Cole’s NRG Ability, the super strength is the Elemental Ability. Regardless, Lilly’s abilities do not/did not differ from Cole’s in any significant way, other than the fact that she had less time to grow accustomed to using them, and thus Cole will probably be more proficient than she was with them

Earl’s (Cole’s grandfather) super strength did not manifest in him being able to lift heavy things, but in the way that he was able to withstand great amounts of force (like being an immovable brick wall that no force could knock over…hence why it was a problem when he was hypnotized). He did not have an Earth Punch, either— he had an Earth Kick instead! (Grandpa Earl out here not skipping leg day, I guess)

Jay’s mom could not fly or teleport for herself- her Electrostatic Levitation manifested as her being able to make other things levitate (granted that they were electrically charged beforehand), while her ability to Teleport works similar to Kai’s Pyroporting -> can warp between electrical objects/sources, but it could be from any source, not just ones she made herself. Albeit it weaker, but overall less strain on her body

Ray’s Firebreathing is more a Fire-Eating thing -> can inhale fire instead of exhaling it, and doing so also gives him a boost of energy (as opposed to Kai expelling a burst of energy). Ray’s Pyroporting does work the same as Kai’s but he can’t make it work in the air at all (and, inversely, he can get more creative with it when used the ground).

Maya’s Hydromorph does not require her to fuse with external bodies of water—she can essentially turn herself into a puddle, haha. Her ability to communicate with sea life also remains the same as Nya’s.

Mystake’s Inverse Anticipation is still absolutely in effect (as in, people happening upon her shop when she least expects it—especially members of her family—or her popping up to help at just the right times, just like Jesse) but she’s learned to school her expression to not be nearly as jumpy about it as Jesse (and not giving the people she affects a complete heart attack askfjdl). Her Random Roulette, instead of affecting her powers, actually affects objects she holds and/or gives to others (…including her teas, if she feels so inclined)

finally gave my nextgen ideas some colorsssssss (itty bitty bios under the cut)

Raine is the oldest by a long shot, adopted by Nya and Jay when he was about 7-ish. he’s much older than the core elemental inheritors, and is already a a full-fledged ninja of sorts. she’s not home a lot, usually doing missions and fighting evil and stuff. Lilly and Ry look up to him the most. his weapon is a guandao, forged with the help of his uncle Kai.

Maya is the elder twin, bio kid of Kai and Cole. they’re probably the calmest and most reserved out of the five of them, probably why they inherited the element of ice. they’re the least social, willingly at least, but it’s not out of intentional malice, they just have a rich inner life. and secrets. so many secrets. Maya is a natural strategist and enabler number one for their twin’s behavior.

Lilly is the younger twin, but only by about thirty minutes. she’s outgoing and LOUD, and very so excited to be an in-training ninja, just like her cousin Raine, FINALLY. she inherited the element of fire, and also her dad’s general hotheadedness and urge to stand out. graduating from her role as ringleader for most of her, her twin, and her cousin Ry’s shenanigans, Lilly’s usually the one taking charge as group leader. she’s also a gym rat, even though her gains aren’t even that visible, COME ON!

Rylan, usually Ry unless he’s in trouble, is Nya and Jay’s second kid, also adopted. to answer your questions, yes he’s a turned serpentine, no he doesn’t remember it, it happened when he was a baby and he was surrendered soon after. Ry’s the emotional heart of the group, most willing to talk about mushy stuff like feelings, to varying results from the rest of his teammates. he inherits the element of lightning. he’s big on scarves, but his favorite is the kitty cat one he knitted with his older sibling Raine.

Shan is a mystery wrapped in an enigma. they’re initially a suspect, a repeat offender for petty thefts that the ninja in training often pursued (because that’s all that Lilly, Ry, and Maya were qualified for, honestly) that somehow turned into a very reluctant friend along the way, mostly due to Ry’s efforts. and now they’re letting them live in the monastery full time? and now they’re the most worthy inheritor of the element of earth? sure. he butts heads with Lilly the most, she thinks they’re suspicious, he thinks she’s too bossy and full of herself.
