your honor…
your honor, you’re absolutely correct, my client did do that. she absolutely did all of that. can i defend her, you may ask? no i cannot, nor do i have any desire or inclination to. if i’m being completely honest with you, i hope she gets worse. i hope she continues spiraling further and further -

I would kill for some hurt/comfort headcannons about what John Doe does when he realizes that stabbing humans does in fact kill them. I assume he probably panicked real bad when he figures that out, and frantically resets the timeline. Probably would be really careful with You after that.
UGH NO YOU'RE SO RIGHT THOUGH OK OK I'M ON IT ANON I'M RIDING THE HURT COMFORT TRAIN LET'S GO
This ended up being way more sad than comforting but I hope you like it anyway I did my best
Reader: gn reader
Warnings: stabbing, death, angst, description of a corpse and blood, it gets pretty fucked up and sad actually

》☆John Doe After Killing You☆《
Tumblr media
- It was the moments after that made him realize. An accumulating number of seconds where you laid limp, staring up at him with those eyes. Those horribly glassy eyes, once full of emotion and now hollow of anything at all.
- After his frantic breathing slowed enough, he would grab your shoulders again, starting on a second wind of manic praise before he noticed something.
- You weren't moving.
- At first they thought you were playing some kind of human joke they didn't understand, chuckling and sitting you up as your lifeless body flopped over. "Oh you are funny, dearest! I may not understand the joke- but you're very good at staying still!"
- When you didn't respond, they tilted their head like a confused puppy. "Dearest? Could you explain the joke to me? I don't really understand."
- The silence was deafening. All you did was lay there, head flopped over with your neck bent at a weird angle. In the silence John took notice to something else; you haven't taken a breath this entire time.
- That's when the panic set in. At first they were in denial, trying to shake you awake as your limbs only swayed under their own gravity. More blood spills from your gaping maw and John's heartbeat quickens again, not from excitement but from fear, a primal fear erupting in him as he continues to shake and grab and plead for you to please wake up.
- But you don't. All you do is lay there. Cold, bloody and dead.
- The guilt ravaged him, all he could do was hold your bloody corpse close and howl in pain as he squeezed you. Or what you used to be, rather.
- He had promised himself to love you, to cherish you. He didn't think his actions were that of harm, he thought they were of love. To be able to see the inside of you, to be close enough that their hands can feel your blood pumping out from your heart, to feel your life force in their hands, becoming one in a way. But they found out too late that humans can only take so much.
- They could only sob violently as they cradled you, tugging at their hair and vowing over and over and over again that they can't let this happen again, not ever again.
- The reset was different.
- Seeing you, moving, breathing...it was different now. A hesitancy came when he stalked you at work, scared that he might hurt you again. Showing his love unbridled and uncontrolled led to the scene that flashes in front of him whenever he sees your face now. The smile he loves only to be interrupted by a vision of blood. So, so much blood.
- It took many resets for them to even let themselves touch you again. Eventually the loneliness became too much. Once you got home one day, there was suddenly a pair of arms wrapped tightly around you, squeezing as if you might slip away as easily as the wind.
- John didn't say anything to you then. They didn't need to. The vow they had made was apparent.
- John would never, never see you that way again.

What the Survivors Think of Wes
I saw somebody make one of these with Maxwell, and they stopped it at that. So I've decided to continue the saga of analyzing the survivors relationships with one another, trying my best to remain objective and not let my bias seep in. And then maybe I'll make a chart once I'm done with this series, for those who don't wanna read allat. I'm starting off with Wes because it will help give context to another interpretive essay I'll be doing.
You are welcome to add more quotes/other context I missed, as well as reply with your own interpretation, in fact I encourage it!! I love nothing more than a good discussion.
Wilson
Generic- "Greetings, %s!"
Attacker- "%s is silent, but deadly..."
Murderer- "Mime this!"
Reviver- "%s thinks outside the invisible box."
Ghost- "How do you say "I'll get a revival device" in mime?"
Firestarter- "Wait, don't tell me. You lit a fire."
Wilson doesn't actually have much to say about Wes, if anything Wilson seems slightly peeved by him, but he's mostly neutral towards Wes. He actually seems more interested in his balloonomancy than Wes himself, but not by much:
Pile o' Balloons- "It looks like clown currency."
Balloon- "How are they floating?"
Speedy Balloon- "The hole in the center makes it more aerodynamic, that's just physics!"
Speedy Balloon (deflated)- "Now it's just another balloon."
Party Balloon- "How did he get the smaller balloons inside?"
Inflatable Vest- "If the bright colors don't attract some horrible creature, the squeaking will."
Balloon Hat- "The static does terrible things to my hair."
As curious as Wilson is about how the balloons work, I don't think he actually likes them and views them as annoying given how they mess up his hair (what a diva) and potentially attract "horrible creatures". In this animated short he also gives Wes quite the glare when he pops one, so I don't think he's a big fan of the balloons despite his mild curiosity.
There's also this quote:
Second-hand Dentures- "They've quickly become Wes' favorite prop."
I'm not sure of the tone it's supposed to be read in, but given the lack of enthusiasm for Wes's clown acts that Wilson has shown, I'd have to guess he's making a snarky remark on how unamusing Wes' use of props are.
Wilson's opinion is mostly neutral. Although he is not entertained by Wes' clown antics, and may even view his mime act as impractical given their circumstances, he doesn't seem to harbor hostility towards Wes in spite of this.
Willow
Generic- "Hi %s!"
Attacker- "That mime punch was really convincing! Haha, ow!"
Murderer- "Your actions speak louder than words! Murderer!"
Reviver- "Who do ghosts call? %s!"
Ghost- "Just tell me whatcha need and I'll get it for you. Heheh!"
Firestarter- "Make it BURN!"
Willow has a very positive view on Wes. She gives him the benefit of the doubt when he attacks her, thinking he's just playing around and wouldn't actually hurt her, which implies she truly believes Wes doesn't have a mean bone in his body (she's right).
Pile o' Balloons- "I could fill them with flammable gas."
Balloon- "That's just asking to be popped."
Speedy Balloon- "Thanks! I'll be able to set fires twice as fast with this thing!"
Speedy Balloon (deflated)- "No flying away!"
Party Balloon- "Hey, when are you gonna make a hot air balloon? I could help!"
Inflatable Vest- "Squeak-squeak-squeak! Ha ha where's Maxwell, this'll drive him crazy!"
Balloon Hat- "Hey, a rabbit! Not bad!"
In contrast to Wilson, she's actually a pretty big fan of the balloons. Also unlike others in this list, rather than simply examining the balloons, it's actually implied she's speaking directly TO Wes rather than just about him. At least the speedy, party, and hat ones imply this.
Cannon (Nothing to upload)- "Darn it, I'm out... hey Wes, you always wanted to try being a human cannonball right?"
Empty Elixir- "Hey Wes! Dare you to drink the last bit!"
Beaten Beater- "When I crank it Wes pretends to ride unicycle circles around me."
She also has a whopping THREE bonus quotes mentioning Wes, this is more than anyone else has. All three suggest they have a very playful relationship, which of course is in tune with both their natures. Although Willow may mean the cannon one literally, which suggests she wants to maim him, this is normal for her and does not imply hostility.
Overall Willow seems to get along with him great and trusts him a good deal.
Wolfgang
Generic- "Is tiny oddman, %s! Hello!"
Attacker- "Wolfgang does not trust your rosy cheeks, %s."
Murderer- "Ah! Is killer clown! %s!"
Reviver- "%s is nice, weird little man."
Ghost- "Wolfgang will go get heart for odd clownman!"
Firestarter- "You are looking very guilty, clownman."
Lmao Wolfgang thinks he's weird, straight up calls him weird and odd. Despite that he does get along with Wes.
He also thinks the balloons are fun and wants to share the experience with the others:
Pile o' Balloons- "Wolfgang will make balloon muscles."
Balloon- "Is full of clown breath!"
Speedy Balloon- "Clownman has mighty lungs to make balloon so big!"
Speedy Balloon (deflated)- "Balloon has gotten scrawny and weak!"
Party Balloon- "Come, friends! Is party!"
Inflatable Vest- "Wolfgang will try not to pop little vest with his mighty muscles."
Balloon Hat- "Haha! Tiny clownman make funny rabbit hat!"
Bonus Quote:
Wire Hanger- "Is skinny and bendy, like clownman Wes."
Wolfgang probably means bendy as a compliment considering the context that Wolfgang is from a circus group.
Wolfgang has a positive opinion on Wes. Despite thinking Wes is strange, he does not let that hinder his friendship with Wes and treats him the same as the other survivors.
Wendy
Generic- "How do you do, %s?"
Attacker- "There's something you're not telling us..."
Murderer- "%s, this is the end... for you!"
Reviver- "Abigail says she understands you, %s."
Ghost- "You won't leave us if I get you a heart, right?"
Firestarter- "There are other ways to express yourself, %s."
Wendy is overall neutral, but Abigail seems to understand him somehow, which probably gets him points in Wendy's favor. She does seem sad when he's dead and doesn't want him to leave her, so she does care for him.
Pile o' Balloons- "These look as deflated as I feel..."
Balloon- "A colorful reminder that my childhood is no more."
Speedy Balloon- "Will it make me swift enough to outrun my problems?"
Speedy Balloon (deflated)- "Sail far away from here, little balloon."
Party Balloon- "What is the point of celebrating in a place such as this?"
Inflatable Vest- "Why try to prolong the inevitable?"
Balloon Hat- "Can he make one for Abigail?"
She's emo as usual when inspecting the balloons, but I think she gets joy out of it and won't admit it. She wants Abigail to have a balloon hat after all so she must like them to some extent.
Wendy seems neutral towards him on the surface, but she does like him given that he makes her, or at least Abby, happy.
WX-78
Generic- "DETECTING... %s!"
Attacker- "ENOUGH CLOWNING AROUND, %s"
Murderer- "YOUR INVISIBLE MATTER SHIELD CANNOT STOP ME, %s"
Reviver- "THE QUIET FLESHLING %s MAY BE WORTH KEEPING AROUND"
Ghost- "I DON'T THINK THE FLESHLING IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE THAT"
Firestarter- "%s WILL DESTROY ALL FLESHLINGS WITH FIRE"
Yeah typical Wx. They don't like him, but not for any fault on Wes' part, it's simply because he's a fleshling.
Pile o' Balloons- "USELESS RUBBER SACKS"
Balloon- "WX-78 CANNOT BE FOOLED. THESE ANIMALS ARE NOT REAL"
Speedy Balloon- "IT DEFIES ALL LOGIC"
Speedy Balloon (deflated)- "I DON'T TRUST IT"
Party Balloon- "I WILL POP IT. NO. THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HE WANTS..."
Inflatable Vest- "THIS ONE MIGHT NOT BE ENTIRELY WORTHLESS"
Balloon Hat- "IT SERVES NO PURPOSE OTHER THAN BEING UGLY"
Not a fan of the balloons either, they think they're useless. The party balloon implies they have no problem popping Wes' balloons and probably do it regularly, but refrain from doing so with the party balloons because they know Wes purposed them to be popped and would be pleased, which Wx doesn't want.
In short, WX doesn't like him, but that's also WX's default, so maybe they're neutral?
Wickerbottom
Generic- "Ah, the mime lad. Greetings, dear %s!"
Attacker- "His body language says everything."
Murderer- "They'll tell tales of your defeat, %s!"
Reviver- "You're a fine young man, %s."
Ghost- "Poor dear. %s needs a heart to anchor him to this plane."
Firestarter- "Don't cry to me when you burn yourself, dear."
Nothing too notable, Ms Wickerbottom is a polite woman and remains so with Wes.
Pile o' Balloons- "These seem frivolous."
Balloon- "Could serve as a suitable diversion."
Speedy Balloon- "The chemical composition of the young man's breath must be fascinating."
Speedy Balloon (deflated)- "Probably not enough air left to analyze its composition..."
Party Balloon- "A reasonable amount of cheer every so often would do us good."
Inflatable Vest- "I applaud your attempt at practicality, dear."
Balloon Hat- "I believe it's meant to evoke the image of a Lagomorph."
She thinks the balloons are frivolous, but she can also appreciate that Wes is spreading cheer.
Wickerbottom is neutral towards Wes, however she does value Wes and how he can boost morale even if she herself is not a big fan of his act.
Woodie
Generic- "%s! How ya doin', buddy?"
Attacker- "%s could learn some manners..."
Murderer- "You're MIME now, %s!"
Reviver- "%s, you're an alright guy."
Ghost- "First we'll get you a heart, then we'll get you some bacon, eh %s?"
Firestarter- "Keep those flames away from my trees!"
I know it looks like they're buddies, but this is just Woodie being Canadian, he calls everyone buddy and is a polite guy. He does seem to coddle him though, wanting to get him bacon after he's back from the dead.
Pile o' Balloons- "Are those balloons?"
Balloon- "It's squeaky. Just like a real woodland creature."
Speedy Balloon- "Now how do you figure that works, Luce?"
Speedy Balloon (deflated)- "Just a regular balloon now, eh?"
Party Balloon- "Uh oh, I didn't forget someone's birthday did I?"
Inflatable Vest- "It beats drowning, I guess..."
Balloon Hat- "We can all appreciate nature in our own way."
Indifferent towards the balloons, which makes me think he doesn't care too much for clowns, but I also don't think he dislikes them.
Woodie is neutral towards Wes but leans more on the friendly side. No comment on Lucy's part.
Maxwell
Generic- "Greetings, Mr. %s."
Attacker- "%s is giving me the creeps..."
Murderer- "Murderous fiend! You cannot escape!"
Reviver- "%s is an effective ally."
Ghost- "I could get you a heart, %s... for a price."
Firestarter- "Stop burning things, mime."
I don't know what to make of this honestly. Maxwell finds him creepy, but he's not resistant to calling him an ally. Buuut he also doesn't revive Wes, instead opting to ask for something in return. I'm inclined to say he is most likely just teasing Wes though, cuz he does tease a lot of the others when they die.
Pile o' Balloons- "Those look much too jovial for my liking."
Balloon- "This seems out of place here. Too cheery."
Speedy Balloon- "The mime's power unsettles me."
Speedy Balloon (deflated)- "Its power is spent. Now it's just garishly cheery."
Party Balloon- "Oh no... he's managed to make them even more cheerful."
Inflatable Vest- "I think I'd rather drown."
Balloon Hat- "Would I really stoop so low as to wear such a thing?"
Doesn't like his balloons. (Interesting thing to note is that Wes seems to have some sort of "power" and it unsettles Maxwell.)
Maxwell is largely indifferent towards Wes, maybe slightly leaning towards dislike because Maxy's not a fan of the mime stuff or Wes' power.
Wigfrid
Generic- "Gööd health tö yöu, %s!"
Attacker- "Dö yöu bite yöur thumb at me, mime?"
Murderer- "May we meet again in Valhalla!"
Reviver- "%s has Höenir's blessing."
Ghost- "Meditate ön Höenir's blessings, %s. I'll find a heart."
Firestarter- "Dön't ruin yöur fair makeup with ashes, %s."
Only good things to say to Wes, she also likes his makeup. (If you're wondering, Hœnir is the god of silence, spirituality, poetry, and of passion. So she respects him enough to say he has a God's blessing, but this isn't out of the ordinary for Wigrid to say about her allies.)
Pile o' Balloons- "Such cölörs! I cöuld sing!"
Balloon- "Fie! Föul beast!"
Speedy Balloon- "Grant me the speed öf Hermöd!"
Speedy Balloon (deflated)- "Its strange pöwer hath faded."
Party Balloon- "It hath swallöwed the wee önes whöle!"
Inflatable Vest- "Tis önly gööd för flöating, nöt fighting."
Balloon Hat- "A rubbery möckery öf life."
She has mixed feelings about Wes' craft. She loves the colors and the speedy balloon, but otherwise finds them useless.
Wigrid gets along with Wes, they're probably friends.
Webber
Generic- "Hey! Hi %s!"
Attacker- "Maybe we can talk this out?"
Murderer- "You're supposed to play nice!"
Reviver- "%s is super nice. And his makeup's cool!"
Ghost- "We'll help you get back on your feet, %s!"
Firestarter- "You were just supposed to mime lighting it!"
This dweeb thinks the mime is cool.
Pile o' Balloons- "Is there going to be a party?!"
Balloon- "Balloon animals! Balloon animals!!"
Speedy Balloon- "Circles must be the speediest shape."
Speedy Balloon (deflated)- "We have to hold on tight or it'll fly away!"
Party Balloon- "Yay! It's a party!"
Inflatable Vest- "We should take it on our boat trips."
Balloon Hat- "It looks like a bunny!"
He loves the balloons, of course, he is a kiddo living in a nightmare world, the balloons probably give him some comfort.
Webber likes Wes. he thinks Wes is super nice and kinda cool.
Winona
Generic- "Don't worry %s, I can talk enough for two. Ha!"
Attacker- "Didn't know ya had it in ya, %s!"
Murderer- "Killer mime! I'll have nightmares tonight!"
Reviver- "Thanks for the assist, %s."
Ghost- "Let's getcha back on your feet, %s."
Firestarter- "You responsible for that fire there, %s?"
She doesn't mind that he doesn't speak and may even find him endearing. Judging by how she doesn't seem at all offended by him attacking her, she actually seems more proud than hurt, which is reminiscent of her big sister personality type.
Pile o' Balloons- "No fun without Wes."
Balloon- "Oh! A balloon."
Speedy Balloon- "It's full of get up and go!"
Speedy Balloon (deflated)- "Better not leave that unattended."
Party Balloon- "We can celebrate once the work is done."
Inflatable Vest- "I think he's trying to be helpful... in his own way."
Balloon Hat- "Cute, but it won't protect your noggin' from much."
She thinks Wes is fun and encourages the use of his balloons (not without getting the work done first of course). Those last two quotes are vaguely patronizing, but in an older sister kinda way and not in a "I'm better than you" kind of way.
She likes him, they're friends, she treats him like a little brother almost.
Wortox
Generic- "%s, let's practice our routine!"
Attacker- "Those punches weren't part of the bit!"
Murderer- "Don't hurt me, %s!"
Reviver- "Thank-you, thank-you, funny friend!"
Ghost- "%s, did you get more delicious?"
Firestarter- "Ooohoohoo, what have you been up to?"
Wortox seems to be friends with Wes! They practice routines together, probably very frequently too because he thinks Wes is playing into one of their bits when he gets attacked by him.
Pile o' Balloons- "Stores one's breath for later spells."
Balloon- "I often feel like I might float away. Hyuyu!"
Speedy Balloon- "With this gift, I'll be more swift!"
Speedy Balloon (deflated)- "Its magic is spent."
Party Balloon- "A party! Am I invited?"
Inflatable Vest- "A bright balloon vest to wear across my chest."
Balloon Hat- "I'm likely to get lightheaded from wearing it, hyuyuyu!"
Nothing too special to say about Wes' crafts but he seems to enjoy them.
Wortox and Wes are friends that seem to bond over their mutual interest for pranks and all things alike. This makes sense given that Wortox is a little jokester and it is literally Wes' livelihood to be one as well.
Wormwood
Generic- "%s is quiet friend"
Attacker- "Bad %s! Don't hurt!"
Murderer- "%s is silent dead maker"
Reviver- "%s is a good friend"
Ghost- "%s is a quiet floaty"
Firestarter- "Aggh! %s made too much fire!"
Pile o' Balloons- "Needs air"
Balloon- "Boop"
Speedy Balloon- "Run run run!"
Speedy Balloon (deflated)- "Boop"
Party Balloon- "Fun!"
Inflatable Vest- "Safe?"
Balloon Hat- "Squee Hopper? Hm. No"
Wormwood is as neutral as they come. If this whole thing was a graph then Wormwood would be right smack dab in the middle. He has no bad things, but also nothing special, to say about Wes.
Warly
Generic- "Bonjour, %s!"
Attacker- "I didn't expect him to be the violent sort."
Murderer- "What a terrible act you've committed."
Reviver- "I love your act, by the way."
Ghost- "Is there a medic on this island?"
Firestarter- "Watch where you light those fires, %s."
Nothing too out of the ordinary, Warly does go out of his way to say he likes Wes' act though.
Pile o' Balloons- "It's been left completely breathless."
Balloon- "How colorful!"
Speedy Balloon- "What a kind gift!"
Speedy Balloon (deflated)- "Quite an odd design. Then again, it was made by an odd fellow."
Party Balloon- "Ah! A celebration!"
Inflatable Vest- "I'm not sure how safe that is."
Balloon Hat- "It's... not exactly my style."
Here's another person that thinks Wes is weird, but he mostly has positive things to say about his balloons.
Warly is neutral. Based on the fact that Warly thinks he's weird, and that the most substantial thing he has to say about Wes is regarding his act, I don't think they interact much. Warly just sees him as the resident mime and nothing more. (Which honestly surprises me, I would've thought they'd at least bond over their mutual understanding of the French language.)
Wurt
Generic- "Hello clown man."
Attacker- "Glorph, go away!"
Murderer- "Scale-less bad, never shoulda left swamp!"
Reviver- "Oh... thanks, flort."
Ghost- "Look paler than usual, florp."
Firestarter- "You a strange man, flort."
I know it seems like she is neutral, but if you compare these quotes with how she speaks with the others, then you would be able to see that she likes him less than the others. She says "Hello." rather than "Hello!" The only other survivor she greets this way is WX, who she believes doesn't like her. I think she also believes that Wes does not like her and in turn she does not like him. because she seems surprised/confused when he revives her. She also calls him strange, and unlike Wolfgang, she means this negatively.
Pile o' Balloons- "Look chewy, florp."
Balloon- "Want one!!"
Speedy Balloon- "That a big one, flurp!"
Speedy Balloon (deflated)- "Awww, got all small."
Party Balloon- "Huh? There stuff inside!"
Inflatable Vest- "Ooooh, water floaty!"
Balloon Hat- "Squeaky hat."
She likes the balloons tho. I mean, she is a kid after all.
Wurt finds Wes weird and does not appear to like/trust him. (My hypothesis is that she may find his silence and makeup creepy, cuz I can't figure out any other reason as to why she dislikes him.)
Walter
Generic- "Uh... hi %s."
Attacker- "This is why I don't trust clowns!"
Murderer- "%s is a killer clown!"
Reviver- "I guess some clowns are okay."
Ghost- "A Pinetree Pioneer leaves no one behind! Even if they're a clown!"
Firestarter- "That's not a proper campfire, %s!"
Walter spells it out for us very clearly: he does not trust Wes. He is scared of clowns, and therefore keeps his distance. Despite this, Walter is still a good kid who does not stray from his own code of ethics. Walter will happily revive Wes and still greet him (even if he does so unenthusiastically) just like he would for anyone else.
Pile o' Balloons- "Someone left litter here!"
Balloon- "My keen tracking senses are telling me there's a clown nearby."
Speedy Balloon- "Clowns have strange and mysterious ways..."
Speedy Balloon (deflated)- "It's pretty much just a regular balloon now."
Party Balloon- "Is someone having a party?"
Inflatable Vest- "I guess it's better than not having a life jacket at all..."
Balloon Hat- "I'm a bit too old for this kind of thing."
Walter doesn't like clowns so of course he isn't gonna like his props either. He thinks Wes has a "mysterious", probably sinister, use for the speedy balloon and is reluctant to use the vest.
Walter distrusts Wes and is not a fan at all of his mime antics.
Wanda
Generic- "Sorry %s, I have no time for charades!"
Attacker- "Now hold on just one minute, I don't think that's part of the act!"
Murderer- "Murderer! Do you have nothing to say for yourself?!"
Reviver- "%s's actions speak louder than his words."
Ghost- "Don't you fret, soon it'll be like this never even happened!"
Firestarter- "Ah... it looks like I'm in the bad timeline again."
Wanda is pretty neutral, but I don't think she's too fond of socializing with Wes considering he can only communicate in "charades", and maybe by writing, which she doesn't have time for.
Pile o' Balloons- "Everyone has their forte. Some bend time, others bend balloons."
Balloon- "Balloons have such a short lifespan."
Speedy Balloon- "Just the extra bit of speed I've been looking for!"
Speedy Balloon (deflated)- "Well, that was short-lived."
Party Balloon- "Balloons within balloons."
Inflatable Vest- "If it keeps me from drowning, I'll wear it."
Balloon Hat- "Ha, I'd look ridiculous in that! Let me try it on."
Saying that "Some bend time, others bend balloons." sounds pretty condescending. But again, we can't hear the tone she is saying this in so we can't tell for sure how she means it. My interpretation is that she may look down on Wes for not having much to offer in terms of survival or prowess, but she will give him credit where credit is due; he's good at balloons. After all, she does seem to like Wes' balloons, actually appreciating the usefulness of his balloons in some situations.
Overall, she is neutral towards Wes, but mostly just sees him as a clown. Wanda is actually a pretty silly woman, she is not averse to having fun, even if she is all "I don't have time for this and that". I think if she did have the spare time, she would not mind hanging around Wes, but I don't see her making the time to do so.
Conclusion
Most of the survivors like Wes. A lot of the survivors though, including the some of the ones that like him, seem to view him as just "the mime" rather than anything else. Not being able to see past his gimmick does makes sense for a lot of the survivors because they aren't able to communicate with Wes in the way they're used to: talking. The mime thing is also a hit or miss with the survivors, some are not big fans of clowns while others love it.
Wes' biggest allies: Willow, Wortox, Winona
Wes' biggest haters: Walter, Wurt, WX-78

wanted to say I appreciate your nuanced takes on MW and especially Curly. i don't get the claim that the fandom is full of Curly apologists when majority (esp yt and tiktok) say he's worse than Jimmy. Yes there's commentary about bro culture defending people, he def messed up in trying to placate Jimmy (tbh "we'll fix this" sounded more like trying to keep someone prone to outbursts like Jim calm and not hurt Anya/himself) but I don't think he did nothing to help Anya, since she continued to confide in him and he had less than a week to resolve it before the crash (I also don't get everyone saying he knew for ages when it seems like Anya told him that same week). I get Jimmy's a pos but saying stuff like Curly should've known he'd crash the ship or that Jim had a criminal record he ignored, reducing them to obviously horrible villain and willfully ignorant sidekick feels like a disservice to the game. If your best friend turned out to be horrible, what would you do in a confined space in the span of a few days to respond? I'd say some of the horror comes from trying to do good but ultimately failing, Curly's state after the crash is meant to be tragic horror not revenge/punishment
Thank you and this is what I want to get across.
A lot of information we have to supplement when it comes to how long things have been happening on this current ship. I think people try to add on to the horror and negligence by making things more obvious so it can feel like it was easier to avoid when, true to life, its not. Jimmy clearly didn't deserve or appreciate what Curly did for him in getting him the job, but do you think if Jimmy was that big of a menace on Earth he would've given him a position where he could have that level of power over people's lives? There's something in the fact he specifically chose to pick a position so close to himself where he could watch Jimmy.
I hate the bro code argument because that is a whole can of worms people really don't get. That sort of mentality is born from the general respect and preference of male matter over female ones. Curly is clearly not that guy, he is absent minded about the issue and inadvertently dismissive but he clearly believes Anya, he just can't understand what she's going through. It's an onslaught of information that no one really reacts right to. Additonally, the entire discussion of her assualt plays to heavy into the idea that there is fault outside of the perpertratior when it comes to SA. It's too close if she only did this or if Curly had protected her better but the fact of the matter is Jimmy did what he did. He did it before any of the conversations with Anya about it and it's why her behavior seemed to change so drastically in those last two days.
He has other conflicting thought and while his role as a Captain should've taken over, people act like it's not a very human thing to have such a toxic presence cloud your judgement. It is never easy to separate friend from coworker once that connection is formed, you want to help them, especially if they were friend first and for a long while like in this case. It's not right, but people act like it would be easy when the game clearly points out that no choice is easy to make, especially when you have to make it for more than one person. You have the weigh the consequences, look at all the options and make a plan. People can headcanon and decide how long things where happening, but if we look at what we were presented through the characters eyes, the only person given time to do that was Jimmy.
He waited two months after the crash to appoint himself Captain. Every time a problem was brought up he immediately took action and refused to sit on it and find a better solution. I think it's important to look at the warped way Jimmy takes initiative where Curly didn't as it works as a good contrast of why you don't just run in to "fix" things. The quickest and easiest option may not be the safest or most beneficial. I think some thoughts on the game suffer from the black and white thinking the game doesn't operate on along with us being voyeurs. We see what exactly led to what but the characters don't. They don't have the hindsight and foresight we do and even ours is scrambled by the non-linear story telling.
Like it's hard to talk abuou those grey zones without sounding like an apologist because you're explaining why taking responsibility isn't easy. It's not and it's weird to act like it would be in a scenerio that led up to the events of the game knowing what we know. We see all these characters in such isolated moments with various things before, in between, after and even during we aren't privy too. The idea that Jimmy is worse than Curly heavily banks on the words Jimmy was saying to Jimmy before he crashed the ship. That whatever happened on the ship was his responsibility to bare, which is true due to his position. But, are they not still not responsible for taking the actions Curly then must bare?
Like i feel like people think that these are situation that become easier with age or when you are in a postion of authority and they aren't. You don't lose your biases or gain some sudden knowledge that makes it easier. It just becomes more tiring as you keep dealing with it. I would be first in line to say Curly fucked up and should've done more but the idea he knew how bad it could get or he really saw the worst in the people around him and ignored it pretty much ignores a huge aspect of his character and the game.
#i do believe Anya was a victum to Jimmy more than once before the crash but the game plays wit the sort of fear of waiting and stagnation#i believe the reason she decided to tell him was becasuse she finally broke down and tested to see if she was pregnant after one too many#signs and its why she went to hide the gun because she knew now that there was proof of what Jimmy did and was he would do anything to#cover it up and while she also didn't want the baby there was no sure fire way to safely induce a miscarriage or abortion cause shes smart#enough to know that hence her reading the illusion of choice and taking measures to protect herself#but in the hypothetical it was a one time occurence I think Jimmy would act like one single mistake shouldn't define him and Anya thinks#that if she did something sooner or said something sooner than she or Curly could've stopped all of it but that the hard thing taking actio#its so hard to be preventative to a person like they also have the autonomy to do things and no one on the ship is okay with actively takin#that away outside of Jimmy that its just a delicate issue and people act like it was a conscious choice not to help when he just helped#wrong he did wrong by not immediately punishing Jimmy but at the same time did he even fully get it yet? Jimmy immediately got into his hea#after like the sound design right before he confront him is telling like every track sort of gives you the feeling of the characters where#we cant see their thoughts because again the only two characters pov we get are Jimmy's and Curly's and even then we only get Curly's thru#the responsibilites he has to take like he is always tasked with something because thats his role but we rarely see him do something off hi#own volition cause hes a metaphorical cog in many of the machines the games comments on but he's not actively pulling a switch#also i think people latch on to the we can both be heros things too much when analyzing Curly because Curly very much is not happy being th#leader and current “hero” of the Tulpar he just wants out in a way that doesn't hurt and while he is still responsible for not doing more#the idea he could've easily nipped this in the butt acts like Jimmy was not a beast of his own and that he made Jimmy into the person he wa#vs the fact that Jimmy is a person on his own right that makes these choices others are forced to take responsibility for when he simply c#couldve not done evil shit like at the end of the day Curly is not perfect but not nearly or remotely as bad as Jimmy because for that hed#have to not care hed have to not have tried hed have to not try to take responsibility and he did just not in the right way but thats#subjective to the person and you can only realize you did fuck up after the results are before you and its tragic like this game is a#a tragedy no matter how you try and spin it. There's lessosn to be learnt but at the end of the day it telling the worst moments of peoples#lives and the certain inevitabilities that come with it#mouthwashing#mouthwashing game#curly mouthwashing#captain curly#nurse anya#anya mouthwashing#jimmy mouthwashing

Hey could you do a Deuce x human!reader and him meeting her and finding out humans aren’t as bad as he thought?
A/n: TY SM FOR THE REQUEST ANON! This may not be the best but nyways, this was requested 2 times but with a kinda seperate plot point so I'm going to make another version of this. Sorry this ones super long lol.
POV: Deuce discovering humans aren't as bad as he thought
Humans are horrible, evil creatures. That is something that had been drilled into Deuce Gorgon's brain since the day he could talk. He was taught that humans were vicious, smelly, weak creatures who targeted defenceless monsters. The only thing protecting monsters from them was their smarts or lack thereof.
Y/n L/n had lived the vast majority of her life believing Monsters were fictional, fake creatures used to scare small children into listening to their parents. Creatures that only ever truly exist in the minds of children, keeping them up at night as they peer through the cracks of open closets, or hiding under their beds, waiting to strike, she was half right.
You may be wondering, how Deuce Gorgon had found himself in the human world, how these two beings could ever possibly meet, well- as with all things, it began with chaos.
Deuce and his best friend Heath strutted down the streets of a human city, heads down until they reached a busy Café, deciding this was the perfect place to terrorize humans.
Heath threw a ball of flame towards one of the café parasols, effectively turning it to ash. Deuce removed his beanie, allowing his snakes to be free.
They continued causing chaos like that, laughing cruelly as humans ran around in a panic, just as they were about to leave, however… Deuce saw someone.
A girl around his age, evidently unbothered by the chaos- or perhaps she simply hadn’t noticed it, cleaning a table, earphones in her ears. She looked as though she was the embodiment of Aphrodite herself, her appearance almost ethereal. Surely, she was some form of Siren, perhaps a demi-goddess… but why would she be working at a café in the human world if she were either of those things?
He considered walking over to her, making himself known but stopped himself, why should he? She was a human; they were evil and bad. But this girl was far too beautiful to be some ordinary human.
Just then he saw a small child, around the age of three running over to her in tears, gently pulling on her apron.
She turned around, removing her earphones to see the small child, she knelt down to their level, looking at them in concern.
“What’s the matter hon?” She asked gently, Deuce thought her voice was hypnotic.
The child, unable to speak from their sobs, showed her a badly burnt teddy bear.
“Oh dear! Poor thing, would you like me to fix it up for you?” She offered, slowly taking the bear in her hands.
The child nodded.
“Okay, I’ll fix it.” She smiled kindly.
“P-please be quick, Mr Bear protects me from the monsters.” The child sobbed.
“Hey, don’t worry, I won’t let any monsters harm you, okay kid? Just until Mr Bear is back in action.” She said softly.
“O-okay.” The child stammered.
She paused, glancing down at her apron pocket before slowly smiling. “Okay, now… close your eyes.” She whispered, the child quickly doing as told “I’m going to do a magic trick.”
She quickly shoved the burnt bear into her pocket, pulling out an almost exact replica of the bear, this one looking brand new.
“Okay… now, open them!” She exclaimed, holding the bear out.
The child gasped, practically snatching the bear from her, clutching it tightly to their chest.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you!” The child exclaimed engulfing the girl into a tight hug before rushing off.
The girl smiled at the child before turning back to the table to continue cleaning the table, before finally, very calmly, pouring water over the burning parasol, taking the charred remains over to a bin and throwing it in.
Deuce wondered whether she was used to this.
“Y’know it’s rude to stare right?” He heard the girl muse, her attention on cleaning a table.
He glanced around, realising that the only people on this once busy street were him, Heath (who was busy causing chaos across the road) and her.
She turned around to face him, one hand resting on her hip, giving him a pointed look.
“Nice hair, by the way, but uh- not sure if you heard but, Halloween was last week.” She said sarcastically, glaring.
“Oh- it’s not a-” He began, suddenly feeling remarkably nervous- what was she doing to him?
“Bup, bup, bup. I don’t care.” She hissed walking forward, crossing her arms “What I do care about is that you and your little friend keep coming to my place of work, dressed in costumes, setting shit on fire- causing me to lose pay so the company can pay for replacements- freaking people out, which nice touch on the mechanical hairs- very realistic- but you're making my job harder because I’m the one who has to clean up after your little ‘pranks’ so you better cut it out.”
At that, she moved to turn around before pausing.
“And by the way, sunglasses, really? Kinda makes you look like a douche- well more of a douche.”
He watched her walk away, contemplating whether or not to call out.
“Wait!” He exclaimed, glancing around to ensure Heath wasn’t looking.
She turned around, raising an eyebrow.
“Uh- I’m sorry… how can I- can I make it up to you?” He asked.
She stayed silent, crossing her arms and giving him a sceptical look, examining his body language before sighing.
“Look, I have my break in five minutes, I’ll probably have to spend it cleaning anyways, you really want to make it up to me, come help.” She said before adding “And uh- don’t bring your friend, I’d rather not talk to someone who by the looks of things has fewer brain cells than a sponge.”
Deuce gave her a slight smile and a nod.
And five minutes later he did exactly that, he helped the human girl clean up the mess he and Heath had made, getting to know her as they did so.
“So, uh- if you don’t mind me asking, what was that with the kid? Y’know the one you gave the bear to.” Deuce asked.
“Oh, uh- they’re my friend's younger sibling… an orphan, been looking after them when I can since my friend can’t anymore.” She spoke, looking down at the table she was cleaning.
“You mean your friend is-”
“Dead, yes.”
“Oh. I’m sorry… do they live with you?” He asked.
“No… they live in the city orphanage; I help out there when I can but when I’m 18 I’ll adopt them officially.”
Deuce stayed silent, looking at the girl who’d suddenly seemed to find a spot on the table more interesting than anything else.
“You, okay?” He asked cautiously.
“Hm? Yeah, I’m uh- I’m fine… just don’t really want to talk about this…” She said looking up at him “Uh- y’know I think you’ve helped enough; I forgive you and stuff; this is my job anyway so I’ll… I’ll finish cleaning it.”
“No- I wanna help.” He said quickly.
She gave him a soft smile.
“Thanks.” She smiled “Y’know, you’re a good person, perhaps I’ve judged you too harshly.” “Yeah… I’m uh really sorry about uh… the damage and stuff by the way… truly.” He spoke.
“It’s alright, I didn’t really care as much as I let on, I actually found it quite funny most times whilst it was happening at least.” She grinned “I’m Y/n by the way.”
“Deuce.” He said, grinning.
She looked at him for a moment before quickly pulling her notepad out of one of her pockets and writing something down.
“Here, uh- text me some time, you seem cool and I’d like to get to know you better.” She said, tearing the paper out of her notepad, folding it in half and handing it to him.
“Thanks, I uh- will.” He smiled, taking it.
“I’ve gotta get back to work now but uh- good meeting you… officially that is.”
She walked away, returning back into the café, Deuce remained standing there, staring at the phone number in his hands, a wide smile on his face.
Perhaps humans weren’t as bad as he thought.

"you may at the first think that I, Van Helsing, am mad—that the many horrors and the so long strain on nerves has at the last turn my brain."
The first thing that Van Helsing writes after killing the Weird Sisters on their beds. A warning to not call him mad for what he has seen, and done; to not call him mad for showing humanity to ancient ladies who had long abandoned theirs.
It's really something else to see how Van Helsing had to steel himself to kill the Sisters. How there is no rage in him to inflict upon them because they are not Dracula.
"At once I exulted and feared; for now, for good or ill, the end was near."
What does the staking of the vampire symbolizes in gothic stories? The killing of the vampire with a stake through the heart. An important organ that maintains our bodies alive, and blood pumping; so important that even in vampiric undeath it remains all centered, yet not beating.
Whenever a character stakes a vampire, it depends in the motivations for the killing. Either a victorious resolution done with a small stake that only needs a push to become efective, or a tragic task done out of pity for the undead creature still with a single stake, and a push. However, somehow (I don't know why), but somehow the narrative doesn't let these actions feel like murder.
Except for Van Helsing. Cultural default of the vampire hunter feels like a murderer at the steps of the chapel.
"I could not have endured the horrid screeching as the stake drove home; the plunging of writhing form, and lips of bloody foam."
The old professor breathes to calm himself down before starting an all bloody mission. Alone in an old chapel inside the cursed castle while Mina waits for him on the puré clean snow. There is no Jack to pray with him, nor Quincey nor Arthur to hold nor stake. Just lonesome Van Helsing with a knife, a hammer, and the same long stakes that killed Lucy.
All of this to murder the Weird Sisters, ancient ladies who were once victims of Dracula, and had now seen humanity change and change for centuries. Van Helsing holds no I'll intent for them, nor insults or curses. He tells how they can gain the upper hand on him with their powers, but still continues with his task.
Butcher's work Van Helsing called it. A horrible bloodbath done with his steady hand, and the sound of the stake and hammer piercing the tender flesh. Blood foaming down the lips, and choking the Sisters until their screams became whimpers, then silence.
Dear Lucy in heaven, are you watching this? Do you feel horrified or calm? Van Helsing couldn't stake you, he needed the help of all of your suitors to do it. He arranged everything to happen, and have Arthur the stake, and the hammer. Now Van Helsing is all alone in a cold chapel, alone with three stakes and three unbeating hearts. Alone as he walks disturbed with his mind weeping, and his hands covered in blood three times.
The act of murdering the Weird Sisters was not declared as a Holy act of retribution, nor a deserved victory against evil, it was butcher's work. The butcher doesn't listen to the cries of the cow, the pig, the chicken; the butcher just raises the knife, and closes their eyes before steeling the arm that lets the knife fall down.
Van Helsing is grateful for his nerves, for not running away from something that had to be done less Dracula had more allies at his side. Time will pass after this, yet maybe Van Helsing will never forget how his hands only trembled before, and after finishing such horrible act.
"I am at least sane. Thank God for that mercy at all events, though the proving it has been dreadful."

TWF 4 Thoughts + Theories
TW: Suicide mention
This is quite long. I had a lot of thoughts.
I loved it! A huge part of what drew me to TWF in the first place was the bigger focus on the human characters, something that stuff like FNAF didn't have as much of at the time. And episode four DELIVERS. Imo, the best horror stories make you care about the victims and/or delight in the villain's terrible antics, and TWF does both super well.
Spoilers Below:
We finally met Charles! Him and Susan are fun to listen to.
Banny continues to be a ladyfailure and smashes into a table.
So apparently the facial recognition has always had an issue w/ Sophie? Huh.
The employee’s seeming disinterest in what's going on is a bit concerning? "I don't want anything to do with it." Charles I've got bad news.
Susan's death/undeath had been depicted several times already, which doesn't take away from what we see here. The Snap? The Breathing?? Those vile squelching noises??? The rabbit may be starving but I’m put off the next several meals.
"bon" was just as spooky as I'd hoped. I, among others, was under the impression that he was a representation of Bon's facial recognition system or A.I., but that doesn't seem to be the case, since we see him approach the robot? You horrible ghost man what is your deal. The happy little hand clasp Bon did after brutally murdering a woman was morbid enough to be hilarious. The scene of him talking to Susan in Wonderland was so eerie and sad.
Felix becomes a bigger slimeball by the second. He's so terrible in such a real way. The fact that he dug a grave for himself and then proceeded to back away from the cliff sums him up perfectly. He's too scared to take that kind of action on his own, but he'll dig a hole and wait to drop dead. Even in this, he will always choose inaction. Everything he does is to try to avoid consequences. He barely spares a second thought for the two little kids who loved him enough to call him "Uncle."
Edd and Molly are super cool. I was kind of expecting them to just hang around being scary and/or sad, but it looks like these two are going to be major players here. Bunnyfarm makes it seem like they're on board w/ the idea of Sophie joining them, but that might've been a misdirection. E+M might be opposed to the idea of becoming "beautiful"? Hydrogen bon vs. coughing babies.
Speculation/Ideas:
Does "bon" purposefully mangle the bodies in an attempt to push them into accepting becoming “beautiful”? Or is it a flaw in the Bon animatronic that “bon” is exploiting? Or both? Their faces don’t fit what the system says, so “bon” spurs the robot into trying to make them fit.
Edd seems weirdly ok with Susan wandering around the purgatory and needs to be nudged into action by Molly. I could see that causing problems later.
I had a feeling that Bon wasn’t Just Possessed By Jack. If it were that simple, Bunnyfarm would’ve been the perfect time to reveal it. If Jack is dead and connected to Bon, then he’s not the one at the wheel. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t dead at all. I have no clue why he would up and leave his family, though.
I could see E+M trying to stall “bon” by playing keep-away with the other victim’s souls, at least initially? They probably wouldn’t be successful with this until later down the line with Brian? Maybe? He’s the only victim who isn’t confirmed to be in an animatronic, nor does he talk about being “beautiful” like the others. We haven’t heard from him since episode one so this could easily change.
What oh what is that under the tarp? The little bedsheet ghost looking thing. A new friend, I hope.
All in all, a beautiful episode. Worth the wait! Can’t wait for 5+6!

Top 10 personal favorite protagonists (unordered)
Maybe one day I’ll put them in order but I just felt like showing some appreciation for my favorite protagonists
Tumblr media
10. Nicole from Class of 09
It might be recency bias but she’s definitely one of the more interesting characters I’ve come across recently and a lot more complex than I few people give her credit for. She’s a horrible person and even an outright villain sometimes but if you look at her environment you can understand how she became that way.
Tumblr media
9. Cesar from the Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy
Seeing his development throughout the movies and him saying less than 10 words in the first movie to basically being fluent in the third movie was truly something to behold. Also a Christian it was really cool how many religious themes they managed to fit into these films and his character.
Tumblr media
8. Thomas Shelby from Peaky Blinders
Although I haven’t finished the series yet (this list may be changed in the future) he is still such a cool yet complicated character to follow as he’s not really a good person by any means, but we root for him and his family because there’s worse people out there. (And I love stories like that)
Tumblr media
7. Master Chief from the Halo series
343 is not a perfect studio by any means but I absolutely loved how they handled his character. They struck a perfect balance between being the stoic force of nature he was established as while also adding more emotional depth to his character. He also means a lot to me personally as I started playing the games shorty before entering high-school and he’s been one of my favorites ever since.
Tumblr media
6. Walter White from Breaking Bad
Admittedly I can’t say a whole lot about him that hasn’t been said. He is still such a great and complex character to this day as well as a cautionary tale of letting your pride get the better of you.
Tumblr media
5. Lou Bloom from Nightcrawler
Jake Gylenhall’s performance is one of the many reasons this is my favorite movie of all time. One of the best ways I can describe this character is that he feels AI generated, and that’s not a bad thing in this case. He does a good job of playing somebody who feels less like a human and more like a monster or alien pretending to be human.
Tumblr media
4. Anne Boonchuy from Amphibia
The best protagonist to come out of Disney Tv Animation IMO. Her character arc with her learning to stand up for herself and the frogs combined with Brenda Song’s great performance make her so memorable. Also her voice is very unique.
Tumblr media
3. Emma from The Promised Neverland
Usually I don’t like characters that are as morally good as her but she works so well. she had every right and reason to become jaded and lose her joy but she never did. Her sheer persistence and love for her friends and family make her such a compelling character. Now that I think about it her and Nicole are kinda like two sides of the same coin.
Tumblr media
2. Barry Berkman from Barry
I never said though I would find Bill Hader of all people scary until I discovered this show. One thing I hate in writing is when the creators don’t allow their flawed characters to be flawed, and Barry doesn’t do this at all. It does a great job of making you feel sympathy for Barry while also making you understand he is not a good man and what he does is evolve. I won’t get too personal here but I also relate to his struggle of wanting to overcome his struggles and vices while also continually falling back into them due to the people around him and his own actions.
Tumblr media
1. Saul Goodman from Better Call Saul
I know I said this would be unranked but Saul is hands down my favorite protagonist of all time. Seeing what he went through in Beter Call Saul completely recontextualizes his character in Breaking Bad. It’s truly remarkable how the writers turned his character from (haha funny lawyer man) into one of the most tragic and complex characters in TV history.

Hi Atlas :0 i have new request but for BAU team with teen!werewolf!reader?
Hotch & Rossi are the only ones to know about reader being a werewolf when he is put on the team bc government wanted to keep him under the eye and recruited him in the end, his records are sealed so Penny doesn't snoop around the important stuff lol. And Rossi being his handler and the main person to see after the boy, to do a report to Hotch about his performance etc. And the reader mostly being there for scent search ( like the reader has a sharp nose for scents and us able to distinguish them with ease even if old and somewhat able to even if masked under fresher scents or added scents) but he's in general a lot faster with more stamina and energy to burn unlike humans .
So the team gets to know the reader's so called secret by seeing him action just zooming past them to catch up with a escaping Unsub in a mountain-like scenery and they're having a hard time catching up to them bc Rossi gave him the go ahead bc the Unsub would otherwise be able to escape in-between the trees and rocks.
Just imagine reader being big enough in his werewolf form(doesn't matter if 4- or 2-legged form to me (as in folklore or twilight type lol) ) that he can just plop all his weight down on the Unsub and pin them to the ground. Possibly disarm them by grabbing the thing in their hands or biting their arms/wrists.
How would the team react? Would they have had some suspicions on the topic?
Sorry the request's a bit long again lmao. Please if the request is too much, your requests are closed or you just don't feel like it, don't feel pressured to do it! Stay hydrated, have a nice day and keep your head up! uwu
Okay, so I wasn't going to write this originally because I wasn't sure how to, but then I started thinking about it and ideas kind of just came to me aha. I hope you like it, I'm posting it now because I just finished writing it and I'm giggling and I just wanted to post it because I think it's funny, but not like a funny funny like a stupid funny if that makes sense?
Warnings: Bullet wound, blood, make shift first aid
Word count: 1385
“A handler?” You asked in disbelief, you scoff, shaking your head at the director with a laugh, “I don’t fucking think so, I’m not a dog-”
“We need someone to monitor you who’s on the team.” He said, pausing before continuing, “Like a mentor,”
“Then call it a mentor. Not a fucking handler,”
“Could you give us a minute?” Rossi asked, speaking for the first time. Hotch, Strauss, and the Director look at each other for a minute before leaving the room.
“The prick may as well ask me to roll over,” You muttered bitterly, wiping the frustrated tear that had made its way down your cheek.
“Look, kid, all I’m going to be doing is making sure you’re settling in okay,” Rossi said with a shrug, “I don’t care about what else they’re saying. I’m only concerned about if you’re okay.”
That’s how you were introduced to one: the fact that you would be working with the BAU, and two: that you’d have a ‘handler’ constantly monitoring you.
When you met the team, an hour or so later, they noticed that you seemed to be full of energy and, despite only having met Rossi an hour ago, seemed to be pretty loyal to him already. Over the next coming months, your secret (as promised) was kept between you, Rossi, and Hotch. All the team knew was that you ‘had good tracking skills’ and that’s why you were recruited. You knew the truth was going to come out eventually, but you didn’t think you would ever be prepared.
There wasn’t much difference with this case then the others, an unsub who was a horrible person, lashed out at people, the usual. He even had a lair surrounded by woods. When you found him and the team confronted him, he ran (also not unusual) and he was fast (unusual), really fast (definitely unusual).
You stare at Rossi until he nods, giving you approval. You pelt your legs fast after the unsub, even if you did lose him, you’d be able to find him quickly. He stunk of the familiar scent of blood, mixed with cigarettes, and Jack Daniels. You let yourself shift as you run, the familiar feeling of your bones resetting subtly as you did so - more energy and strength seeping through your body as you changed, clothes tearing as your body transformed. Soon enough, you’re ready to drop down on all fours, a growl crawling up your throat you do. It doesn’t take you long to catch up with him, maybe thirty seconds. When you do, you tackle him to the ground, keeping him pinned with a heavy paw, you lift your head into the air, howling loudly to signal to Rossi that he’s been detained.
The team stared at you in absolute shock when you walked back over to them, now dressed in the spare clothes Hotch and Rossi always kept close by (as a just in case).
“What the fuck-” Derek’s the first to speak.
“It’s sort of a long story?” You reply, unsure.
“There’s been numerous sightings of werewolf individuals throughout history, not to mention clinical lycanthropy,” Spencer chimes in.
“So you’re a-?”
“Say it,” You say dramatically, you hear Rossi and Hotch sigh deeply, already knowing where this was going. “Say it. Out loud.”
Derek and Emily share a confused look. “Werewolf.” Hotch mumbled, hoping to get this whole thing over with.
You turn around dramatically, “Are you afraid?”
“No.” You grin, you had never heard Hotch sound so done with you in your life. This was brilliant.
“This is the face of a killer, Bella.” You say, disappointed when none of them get your reference. “Really? None of you? JJ, come on, you know what Cullen means, surely you get it?”
“Sorry, I’ve never actually seen Twilight,”
“Ugh,” You groaned, “Penelope would get it, you all need to be more like Penelope and laugh at my jokes,”
“No need to bite back so hard, kid,” Derek grins.
“If this becomes a frequent thing, I might actually kill you.” You state.
“You’re all bark and no bite,” A growl sounds through your throat and your eyes flash. Derek puts his hands up in surrender, “Alright, alright, no more jokes. Can you eat chocolate though? Serious question. Rossi, why’s he looking at me like that? Rossi, Rossi-!” Derek yelped as you tackled him to the ground.
“Yes I can eat chocolate, it makes me feel sick though.” You answer, you hadn’t shifted, you just wanted to scare him a little. “Nice yelp though, sounded like a little girl.”
“I did not!”
“Yeah, you did,” Emily answered with a snort.
Now, months later, you stand in a warehouse, locating the unsub with Rossi whilst you wait for backup. “He’s definitely here,” You mumble, “Jesus, he eats a lot of fast food,” Rossi gives a small snort, “I think he’s in here,” You say, pointing at the room just ahead of you. Rossi nods, raising his gun slightly as he begins to enter the room, you’re close behind.
You watch in horror as the gun cocks into place, you let yourself start to shift - knowing that you wouldn’t be able to make it in time in human form. You weren’t going to let them get hurt. You were nothing if not loyal. Rossi waits for the bullet. He knew it was going to happen eventually, it was inevitable in this line of work. But the bullet doesn’t come, instead, the crack of the gun in heard, as well as the sound of impact. Then nothing. And then the small whine comes. It’s pathetic and sounds like a wounded animal. A wounded animal. It clicks and Rossi looks around, spotting the form of a wolf, he watches as the fur shifts, slowly turning to skin in order to preserve your energy.
Another shot sounds and the unsub drops down dead. Rossi sends a brief nod of thanks to Morgan as he rushes over to you, shrugging off his windbreaker to place over you. Morgan joins him, peering over you, eyes widening when he sees the bullet wound. He reaches for the radio, “We need a-” Rossi puts his hand up and Derek stops.
“What do you need us to do?” Rossi asked, turning back to you.
“Rossi, he needs an ambulance,”
You shook your head, “My body will heal, I just need to get it out,” Rossi nodded as you lifted your head, the bullet wasn’t too far in. You could probably just reach in and grab it, you’re body would flush out any infection or bacteria that was in the wound and you’d be as good as new within a day or two. Your fingers hovered above the bullet wound and you let your head drop back to the floor. You take a deep breath before you plunge the fingers into the wound, feeling for the bullet. Your back arches and you ground your teeth, you clench the bullet with your finger tips and force yourself to take a deep breath before you pass out or something. And then, when you’ve got a good grip, you yank it out. And fuck it hurts. You groan loudly through your teeth, throwing the bullet to the floor.
“You okay?” Derek asked, you huff a small laugh as you nod.
“Just peachy,” You mumble. “I’ll be fine. The outside of the wound will close within a few hours anyway,”
“Won’t you bleed out?”
“Should be fine,” You said with a shrug, “This is hardly the first time I’ve been shot,” And with that, you force yourself back on your feet, clutching a hand to the wound as you walk.
When you’re back on the jet, now with a gauze over your wound, you lay slowly on the couch. “I know what will help,” You say, lifting your head up slightly, “I’m going to make you all watch Twilight. You need to get my jokes - they’re like over half of my humour and none of that can be appreciated if you haven’t seen it.”
“Is it any good?” Emily asked, you shook your head.
“Nope, it’s absolute horse crap,”
“Then why make us watch it?”
“Because you all need to suffer to get my humour,” You said, before adding, “And I’m injured so you can’t say no,”

All of your posts about transformers has made me kinda want to start getting into it, it looks so interesting and fun! Do you have any recommendations for a place to start? Or just a favourite series? Thanks!
omg such an important ask ofiwjdsj •́  ‿ ,•̀
Well, I've only watched a handful of TF shows so far because, I kid you not, there are tons outside of America (I need to start the Japanese continuity mnghhher)
B u T, these are the ones I would recommend:
Want to start with something lighthearted and easy to consume instead of all war and suffering? Try Transformers Rescue Bots! It is focused on a younger audience that the slightly older most series are used to, but it does not treat children as stupid, it has a writing that surpasses the other two series in the continuity it's part of (The Aligned continuity, with Transformers Prime and it's (horrible) sequel Transformers Robots in Disguise 2015); and there may be no decepticon presence beyond mentions and a minicon in the fourth season, but it really is amazing to see a series where the focus is non-combatant autobots and their bond the human family and island they must protect. Something to keep in mind: you may have never heard of any of these bots outside of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee (who are practically guest stars), but you will easily get attached to them.
The most recent and also focused on the bond with humans and family dynamics is Transformers Earthspark. Just as with Rescue Bots, with OG characters and a great family (both shows have in common the fact that they have the best human characters). Still this one can be full of sweetness and easy to consume, post-war focused, BUT it can and gets dark so prepare yourself.
The other two that have the humor and action that you would expect from a typical superhero show are: Transformers Animated and Transformers Cyberverse, with the typical war of autobots and decepticons and the characters that we all know. Although I warn you that Cyberverse may make you want to drop it in the first season, it gets better in the next three ones.
And... Well, I couldn't leave this one out: Transformers Prime. Despite being part of the same continuity as Rescue Bots, its tone is very different and perhaps the problem with it is that it takes itself too seriously. I have seen several summarize the show as: it is afraid of being a show for children despite BEING a show for children. Some plot holes here and there, problems with character development and concepts that it doesn't explore well, but it's still quite enjoyable and it was the first one that many fans got to know or got a taste for Transformers.
I hope I have been useful to you and welcome to the fandom if something manages to catch your attention, just stay away from Kiss Players and you will avoid trauma <3
If someone wants to drop some recommendations, plz reblog and tag the user or write them on the comments!

MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS / TMNT II #1-5
December 2022 - May 2023
By Ryan Parrott , Dan Mora, Raúl Angulo, and Ed Dukeshire.
Tumblr media
It's the sequel for the miniseries that was successful enough to have action figures!
The Turtles and the MMPR band together to stop Krang and Rita Repulsa, but a betrayal by their human ally leaves them without powers. And then things get creative...
Tumblr media
SCORE: 8
I just want to put in writing that true leaders admit when they are wrong, so the dialogue above is not worthy of Leo.
Alright, let's move on to the actual story...
Tumblr media
I was running against two challenges while reading this story.
I am pretty ignorant about Power Ranger lore. I have watched some episodes, a movie and the horrible reunion special, but other than that, I may miss some references.
It has been a long time since I read part one, so apart from certain elements of that story that I remembered, I was kind of constantly catching up.
And you really need to have part one fresh in your mind to read this one... they are basically the same story.
Tumblr media
A thought occurred to me while reading this... what is going on with Casey Jones?
He used to be the not-very-bright American hero (think of Jack Burton from "Big Trouble in Little China." And that kind of adaptation used to be the case. But lately, Casey has been a little less temperamental, and sometimes smart enough to avoid getting into conflicts (think of the Rise movie, the IDW version and its spin-offs, like this one).
Classic Casey wouldn't have gotten himself in this situation. But given how much this universe borrows from the IDW continuity, I guess that Casey would behave like this.
Tumblr media
Isn't it great when you find four morphin' devices that match the colors of the turtles?
Tumblr media
The Turtles and the Power Rangers being able to morph all at the same time was already great, but the book manages to surprise with yet another creative twist... that I'll explore after the break...
Tumblr media
Although, if you have already seen the covers, then you know what's coming...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think the book really came together at this point. With (a very 2012 inspired) Splinter coming in to teach the new mutants how to fight with their new bodies.
Tumblr media
And then this happened... man, those toys will sell themselves.
Tumblr media
In general, the art in this book is stunning. It may not be high art, but it does what it needs to do, beyond expectations.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shredder also gets a chance to morph again (it would be a crime if he didn't).
Tumblr media
The zords in general look amazing. I guess if you are a MMPR artist, you really need to know how to draw robots... and humans.
Tumblr media
So yeah, it seems like part 3 is to be expected... and I am okay with that.
The only thing that felt weird to me, is how the Turtles and the Power Rangers seemed to hang together all the time, despite this story taking place weeks after the first one. But given that this is a different universe, I guess anything is possible?
Reading this story made me think hard on why I decided not to buy the crossover figures... maybe if there is a wave for this sequel, I may consider getting some dimension X power rangers... we'll see...

Shiiit, you're right about the gem acquisition being a plot point from Prime, I still have yet to watch that one but they did mention it elsewhere. So, in Stowaway AU, he clearly still has to get that gemstone, but my biggest thing is how would Emilia react with this action? My two worst theories would be either she still thinks that Clayton can do no wrong until this point (realizing that her father is human and therefore able to make mistakes only when the family line has been cursed), or that she knew he was flawed but is now believing that once again her father failed her or someone else (again he led her into danger and disaster, he promised this to be a simple expedition but with every turn he has doomed her further and further).
Either way, I can only see Emmy reacting to this and feeling far less trusting in Clayton... Then getting to the Amber Temple, and seeing how easily he can be changed into this horrible bone-crunching wing-scrunching monster? I can only see Emilia coming out on the other end with far less respect for Clayton, even if she is led to realize that there was a compulsion involved her trust may be rocked permanently between the gemstone incident and then the Temple right after.
And also, my fear would be Strahdanya seeing her in the Temple. Would she try to get Emmy to her side by any means possible, being goaded on by Clayton to "Come on, dear, she'll take us back to Mama and we can be a happy family thanks to her" during this time? Would our girl have taken one of the "gifts" by the time Strahdanya appears and goes to her willingly, possibly even holding onto Strahdanya like a beloved babysitter? Or worse, would Sarnax and Emmy be the last two? Would he again beg Shepherd to kill him, or would he say he is willing to give himself up if only to protect this little hatchling?
The Amber Temple is just the most horrible part of this AU for me, meaning I must obsess and continue to throw rocks at yours' and cuppa-noodles' window as you so eloquently put it, hehe.
The Amber Temple itself, inside, yeah that's going to be.. Fucking something.
I do think that she'll be one of the last ones, with Shepherd and Sarnax not taking gifts. Or, right in the middle and taking one even despite Clayton's initial worry. No one is thinking in their right minds in The Amber Temple, especially not the expedition. Whether she follows Gherix's light or fall to the darkness due to Azran curiosity, that's something interesting to think about.

Ring-ring- ring- “Hello?”
“Hey is this Y/n?” Wally asks, I couldn’t help but chuckle at this guy’s stutter.
“The one and only,”
“Hello! Um, how was your day?”
“Good what about yours?”
“It was also good, though I didn’t do much I went to the store to get some more apples. Howdy had a sale, but he limited what I could buy.
“Oh, and why’s that?” “I may or may not like apples a little too much?” I raise an eyebrow at this but end up chuckling instead.
“Wait how many did you buy?” Wally was quite for a minute, leaving me suspect more than the usual.
“20.”
“You bought 20 apples?”
“Yes,”
“Are you going to make something with them?” I ask pushing myself on the bench now, I didn’t want my feet getting hurt. I was very curious of why he would by so many apples, that would last my family a while even made apples pie every day.
“No, I don’t really eat them.”
“Then why did you buy so many?”
“I like to just stare at them? I know it’s weird, but there just so shiny. They look very pretty; the red ones are my favourite honestly. But the green one’s are still alright, their also fun to draw and paint.”
“How long have you had this obsession with apples for?”
“Ever since I could remember? I know it’s weird but-“
“I know it’s weird but-“wally was cut off by the girls chuckles, he was currently in his Pj’s in his special red chair next to this phone. It was the only one that he could call her on, it was late at night for him so he had to remember to remain quite. But he was worried that she would consider his obsession with Apples weird.
“No, I don’t think it’s that weird, people can have things like that. I know I hyper fixate on Lego’s or movies!”
“What type of movies do you like?”
“I’m a sucker for romance and Comedy! But I do love a good horror!” Wally chuckles and pushes back his hair a little.
“those are complete different genre’s! how do you even watch a horror?”  y/n gasps dramatically at him.
“Horrors are good! You need to give them a try okay! they’re not that bad.” She defends herself, Wally chuckles at how defensive she was over her precious movie genre.
“What’s your favourite then? Mr I’m too good for Horror’s”
“Hey now! I never said I was too good for them!”
“Oh? Then what’s so bad with them?”
“I never said they where bad, I just said how do you watch them! Their so creepy! My favourite genre is action and western! Though I also love myself a romance movie.”
“Ooh so your scared of them, are you? That it. And you’re a cowboy’s kind of guy huh?”
“Always have been, isn’t it cool how they ride their horses off into the sunset? With their true love.”
“Mmm, I guess, I never really watch many cowboy movies.”
“My favourite would have to be big jack! It’s good you should watch it sometime!” Wally suggests.
“Hmmm I’ve never heard of that movie before, I’ll have to watch it.” Just at the suggestion of her watching his favourite movie, just because he said it was his favourite movie. He kicks his feet a little out of excitement, what was going on with him? He never acts this way. Julie and Frank sometimes act this way! But not him! he was always to cool one! The calm, collected, charmer of the group!
“You’ll like it I promise!”
“I hope so, anyways. You never told me how old you where, or what you wanted to ask my- I mean Harrison and Maggie.” Wally eyes widen, what the heck was he meant to tell her? He was in puppet years 20, but in human years? Who knew! Hell, he didn’t even know what decade it was over their he could be 30! No maybe even 100! And what would he say about the question as well?
‘Oh yes! I just wanted to know if he we could complete the spell? To make us alive so we could continue the show! And why they were trapped in this world? Before all of this, they where in this world, but then Harrison completed a spell. One that made them come to life there was more to the story, but how the heck was he just going to info dump you like that? How could he?
He might scare you away, and he loves talking to you so far! Love it a strong but it truly it what he think this feeling was. a love of a friend? He wanted to get to know you more before he would say anything. Hell maybe even some how, some way bring you into his world? He didn’t know how it would work or how but it was something in his imagination.
“Wally you there?”
“Oh yes! Sorry I just dropped the phone HAHA! Um I’m 20, how old are you?”
“18 turning 19 soon”.
“Oh, when’s your birthday?” Wally asks, he was very glad you forgot the other question or had moved on from it.
“(date and  month of birth) 1996! What about yours?”
… Wally didn’t have a birthday. Well, the year of his birth doesn’t count, but what would his birthday be?
“Oh I don’t really celebrate my birthday-““WHAT! YOU DON’T CELEBRATE YOUR BIRTHDAY?!” Wally pulls the phone away from his face as she shouts into the phone.
“No?” what he said was meant to be a statement, but really sounded like a question.
“I mean do what you want to do, but have you ever celebrated your birthday? Like in your life?” She asks more calmly, Wally pauses thinking back, they didn’t real do Birthdays here, no one had one. They Did Christmas, Halloween and easter! Heck even Saint Patrick’s Day. But never birthdays.
“No?” he whispers into the phone, it stayed quiet. The house was quiet, Home was asleep. So, Wally did not want to wake her up. Otherwise, he would have been sent to bed.
“Dam, Is it your religion?”
“What? Oh no! I just never have? Hehe sorry if that’s a little weird-“ “No it’s not weird! I just, well it just surprised me sorry.”
“Why are you apologising? you did nothing wrong.” Wally tries to comfort her. He honestly had no idea what he was doing though.
“I don’t know>” silence filled the call again. The air filled with so much tension you could cut it like a birthday cake. They both wanted to say something but what?  Wally wants to say something, but what? He didn’t have much he could talk about with her; I mean it was different from talking with the neighbours.
“So, your 20 and own a house?”
“Oh! Yes, it’s small but nice a house. It has a decent yard.”
“that’s nice, I’m surprised you where able to get a house in this economy!”
“well I inherited it, from a great grandma?” Wally was lying, he knew it was never good to lie. But a little white lie wouldn’t do too much harm do?
“did you know her?”
Son of a-
“No, not really! But I kept the house the same. Nothing really changed haha!” He says he hears the girl chuckle a little, but then a small yawn escapes her lips.
“sorry, I’m just a little tired.”
“no it’s no problem. You should probably head to bed, you got plans tomorrow?”
“mum’s making me go shopping with my baby brother, so I’m most likely Going to be warn out. But I’ll tell you if anything interesting happens?” Wally smile grew, she was the one who wanted to call again. And he was very happy she was enjoying it so much she wanted to call again, maybe a little too happy?
“sure, would you like me to call you earlier?”
“I don’t mind, thanks for the chat it was really nice.”
“Same, you’re quite the interesting person Y/n.” he loved hearing her giggle into the phone, and how she yawned again into the phone. UGH!
“Okay then, good night, Wally~” her tired voice sang.
“Night Y/n, sleep well”. When she hangs up, wally instaintly stands up and runs around happily jumping around. Getting all of his excitement out, that was until home woke up thanks to the noises he was making and caught him with the curtains.
“CREEEK!!!”
“sorry home, I just got excited! I’ll be quieter! Sorry home"

Not quite sure how to word the thoughts I'm having in reaction to Trump's re-election today, so I offer these excerpts from Paulo Freire's Pedagogy of the Oppressed up as supplement.
Plenty of people have already been discussing the emotional reactions in response to this, as well as creating and spreading great resources to prepare for the future should you need them. There is comfort to be found if you need it, mutual anger and frustration should you need the catharsis. We are not moving into this alone, and do not allow yourself to be convinced otherwise.
My goal with this post is not to reiterate the same points over and over. Rather, I write this to add one key point that I think is of the utmost importance to remember, and that I offer you with the wish that you will think about and consider it for yourself:
You still have agency.
It is out of a failure to remember this fact that I feel we have gotten into this position-- yet it is through gaining recognition of it again that I know we will make it through this.
If the results of this election are anything, they are proof that this kind of fatalistic, doomer nihilism bullshit is exactly that which benefits our oppressors-- the patriarchs, the racists, the rapist capitalist fuckers who did not have to win this election. Our apathy is killing us, and it is serving their means-- passivity quite literally allowing global harm and destruction to the most vulnerable of our communities. This widespread pessimism is a fucking parasite, it is the voice of our oppressors themselves spewing their shit into your ear, and you cannot let it overtake you.
I say this as psychological, emotional, and material advice: you can't fucking live if you don't take your life as your own.
I am not unsympathetic to the feeling of hopelessness in the face of what feels like overwhelming horror and doom. There is no experience more dehumanizing than feeling like your voice means nothing, your actions mean nothing, your existence and being itself influences no one. It is understandable that when looking at both your own and others' suffering, your response is despair and anxiety, resentment of the fact that you were born at just the wrong time to have to live through such a historical moment.
The fact is, there has never not been a historical moment. Humanity is history, and it always has been-- reality not some static, unchanging set of boundaries and systems, but an ever-evolving, ever-transforming social system, entwined within itself, contradictions running to its core because humanity itself is contradictory. There are no clear boundaries between identities, responsibilities, the pure good of the superior class and sinful evil of the degenerates. It is a lie birthed within you by the oppressors, for their benefit, to believe otherwise, to fall for the falsity that we are distinct individuals, separate from birth, doomed to simply and submissively accept whatever the world happens to hand to us.
You are not some position within a triangular hierarchy of the world that decides for you whether or not you suffer. You are a fucking human being. You think. You act. You live.
We are interconnected. For better and for worse, we are free agents. You have control over your life, small though it may seem. We've gotten through this before, and we will get through it again, together.
We have arrived at this particular point in history only through the collective action of many, and we will only get out of it by the same means. You are not an object. Your actions, your words, the connections to the people you love and care about and even those you do not know, all mean something. Please-- don't allow yourself to be domesticated into passivity, into acceptance of some "fate," about how the world is just inherently fucked for the next four years because of one goddamn horrible election. Whether you like it or not, you transform and influence the world every morning that you continue to wake up and breathe and speak.
It was shitty yesterday, and it will be shitty tomorrow-- but there was also hope yesterday. And there's going to be hope tomorrow.
We must take care of our own. They are not going to do it for us.
signed, a bitch, a faggot, and a dirty-blooded product of immigrant miscegenation. this is my goddamn america, my life, and my people. that asshole is not taking that from me.

"Outside of civil society, let a bitter enemy come and attack me day and night, or if, pushed back twenty times, he returns again to ravage the field that my hands have cultivated; since I can only oppose my individual strength to his, I must perish or kill him; and the law of natural defense justifies and approves me. But in society, when the force of all is armed against one, what principle of justice can authorize puting him to death? What necessity absolve such an act? A victor who puts his captive enemies to death is called a barbarian (Whispers.) A grown man who slaughters a child whom he can disarm and punish seems a monster (Whispers.) An accused is for the society that condemns him at most a defeated and powerless enemy, he is weaker before it than a child before a grown man.
(...)
Thus, in the eyes of truth and justice, these scenes of death which it orders with such apparatus are nothing other than cowardly assassinations, only solemn crimes, committed, not by individuals, but by whole nations, with legal forms. However cruel, however extravagant these laws may be, do not be surprised by them any longer. They are the work of a few tyrants; they are the chains with which they burden the human species; they are the weapons with which they subjugate it; they were written in blood: “It is not lawful to put a Roman citizen to death,” such was the law that the people had passed; but Sylla conquered, and said: All those who took up arms against me are worthy of death. Octave and the companions of his crimes continued this law.
Under Tiberius, praising Brutus was a crime worthy of death. Caligula condemned to death those who were sacrilegious enough to undress in front of the image of the emperor. When tyranny had invented the crimes of lèse-majesté, which were either indifferent actions or heroic actions, who would have dared to think that they could deserve a punishment more lenient than death, unless to found themself guilty of lèse-majesté?
(...)
Listen to the voice of justice and reason; it cries out to us that human judgments are never certain enough for society to be able to kill a man condemned by other men subject to error. Had you imagined the most perfect judicial order, had you found the most honest and enlightened judges, there will always be some room for error and prevention. Why deny yourself the means to repair them? Why condemn yourself to the impotence of extending a helping hand to oppressed innocence? What matter are these sterile regrets, these illusory reparations that you grant to a vain shadow, to an insensible ash?
Those are the sad testimonies to the barbaric temerity of your penal laws. To deprive man of the possibility of atoning for his crime through repentance or through acts of virtue; to pitilessly close him off from any return to virtue, to self-esteem, to hasten to lower him, so to speak, into the tomb still covered with the recent stain of his crime, this is in my eyes the most horrible refinement of cruelty."
-Maximilien Robespierre, debate on the death penalty in the National Constituent Assembly (Session of May 30, 1791)

Your follow-up to the horse info post is just as good as the first one, and I offer a sincere thanks because those sorts of posts take forever, and are a lot of work.
But the reason I’m sending this is because of the joy of seeing the horsey prosthetics. I was aware that injury didn’t and doesn’t mean instant euthanasia, but I didn’t know what advances had been made and it’s a lovely thing to be able to help a friend live their best life.
For instances where euthanasia is the only course of action, would that be something like a horse has sustained a break that has gone septic in a time prior to antibiotics? So the horse would likely die anyway and it would be more humane to put it down than to let nature run its course, I’m thinking. Or is that completely wrong?
Thanks again for all of the hard work you put into these posts and answers!
Eugh, infections are a really horrible and scary part of horse health crisis management, because they can be very touch-and-go depending on where the actual infection is and how early it's treated with antibiotics. Once sepsis has taken hold, there usually isn't a lot modern medicine can do but try to provide comfort measures through medications, and pump the horse with large-bore doses of IV antibiotics, stress-reducing medications to keep them from panicking and their bodies from working too hard, and fluids while hoping the immune system is still strong enough to put the antibiotics to use and win against a case of sepsis. Sometimes, the bacterial load in the body is just too much or the infection has caused irreparable damage to a critical organ like the heart, and there isn't any other way to show the animal mercy but to euthanize. Most cases of sepsis, before death, result in a comatose state before the body completely shuts down from multiple organ failure, and it's an extremely miserable way to die. So yes, when euthanasia is discussed with horses, it's primarily when there is nothing else that can be done to make the horse's quality of life better while its suffering is only going to get worse (usually resulting in death) regardless of veterinary science or a limitless budget.
The problem with antibiotics in general is that they take time to work. If you've ever been miserable from something like a UTI or a chest infection, you know waiting 2-3 days for oral antibiotics to fully kick in sucks (IV antibiotics tend to work much faster, but still take a bit of time to reach full potency), because the infection is still there and causing intense pain and discomfort. The reason it takes so long is because antibiotics stimulate an immune system into going ham on an infection and destroying it. If there isn't enough time, or the immune system is already shot, then antibiotics may not be enough. End-stage or late-stage sepsis in pretty much any mammal is pretty much gonna be deadly, because sepsis is commonly called "blood poisoning" and kills by causing multiple essential organs to stop working in rapid succession - brain, heart, liver, lungs, etc. - like fairy lights on a string going out one by one after the first light fails. "Too far gone" happens, and that's when euthanasia becomes an open subject, because there's nothing left to anticipate for the animal but more suffering before they're going to die of their infection/injury.
Good vets will ALWAYS try to fight until the bitter end to provide options and other forms of intervention in saving an animal's life from disease or injury, but they also are specifically trained to know when a situation is just too beyond what they're capable of addressing and when continuing to try to treat an animal is only going to prolong its suffering before it inevitably succumbs to death. That's why prosthetics are becoming a thing for horses now! The cost of 3D printers have been going down, more designs for prosthetics are being published, and better materials are being employed for optimal horse comfort and recovery. Most injuries that result in a disabled leg in horses are caught and treated rapidly by owners and vet teams with no serious infections setting in, and so the main reason euthanasia has been employed for leg breaks and cases of amputation was more for preventing the horse from suffering without a mobility aid or prosthetic. Now, humans are catching up and figuring out what materials and structural designs work best in prostheses for horses, and we're seeing a huge increase in cases of horses surviving and living long, happy lives even after losing a leg!
