New Fic: Sea of Stars

Summary: Lance is a college freshman at Galaxy Garrison University on a swim scholarship taking classes to put him on the path of his dream to be a NASA pilot. But in order to do that he needs to maintain his grades and his calculus class is proving to be an obstacle to that. But Lance’s TA proves to be a great resource and he’s feeling confident that with the senior’s help he’ll be well on his way to achieving the grade he needs.

Except it seems his TA is interested in more than just helping Lance get an A. He’s interested in Lance.

And so what Lance finds out he has isn’t a path to a good grade… it’s a stalker and one that will not take no for an answer. 

Chapter One Snippet:

The shout of his name had his head snapping up to see his TA — shaggy blond hair a golden beacon in the fluorescent lighting — waving at him from across the room and gesturing at a spot at the table he was currently sitting with.

Lance broke into a trot, chest untightening.

Oh gracias a Dios. 

He wasn’t too late.

“Hey there sleeping beauty,” Shane greeted him, and Lance felt his cheeks heat slightly at the apparent moniker he’d picked up. He supposed he should be glad Shane hadn’t shouted that across the packed room.  “Take a seat and we can get started in just a second.”

Lance slipped into the open chair and began to pull out his notebook and a pencil while Shane turned to a female student and continued to go over something in one of her books, the girl nodding along.

“Okay, you try the next one,” Shane said a moment later. “I’ll check in with you before closing call.”

“Thanks, Shane,” she smiled at him. “Don’t know what I’d do without you.”

“Fail algebra,” Shane teased back at her and she stuck her tongue out before turning back to her book. “Which speaking of,” he pivoted in his chair so his knees bumped against Lance’s under the table, “let’s make sure you don’t fail calculus, Lance. Where should we start?”

In 2022: My Chemical Romance performed their fifth show of the 2022-2023 Swarm tour in Milton Keynes, England. At this show, Frank Iero and Gerard Way wore T-shirts with the words “Piss” and “Vinegar”, respectively, and three tally marks were written on the drums. This show was the only show to feature a clip from the Nova “Rat Attack” documentary, played immediately before the show began. (🖤)

one day you'll walk home in the dark and suddenly, for no reason, remember when you were 20. it'll seem like it was last week, but it wasn't. 20 was a lifetime ago now. and you'll think 'i hate that time has passed' but you'll also think 'thank god time has passed'. and you'll miss things that don't make any sense, like the hue of the light bulbs in your university accommodation, or the smell of a candle that's been discontinued, or the flat, crackling sound of music through your old, shitty headphones. and you'll miss yourself too, because you're not who you once were. the clothes on your back are different, the way your hold yourself is different, the thoughts you think and the words you speak are all different. you'll forever be different because nothing ever stays the same, which means you'll always have to kill yourself and mourn yourself and meet yourself and learn to love yourself. and one day you'll feel stupidly sad about this moment in time and everything in your periphery -- the rain on your shoes, the blink of the streetlamp overhead, the sound of a train leaving the station.

I have done nothing of import today except recover from migraine (round 2), go to the post office because the post office often doesn't know how to actually deliver mail where I live, finish my queue at work, and play with dolls.

If I don't get any writing done by Sunday I'm going to eat a shoe.

Edit: I installed a new processor and liquid cooler in my desktop at 6am in the fugue of a migraine and forgot ALL ABOUT IT until I was reminded. In my defense, the migraine was making my vision black out if I looked to the left and I was vaguely concerned my neck was broken, so. (Like I knew it wasn't but the migraine was bad enough that I wondered if I'd been kicked in the neck by someone wearing a steel-toed boot.)

I'm just gonna rant rq about dmc and the recent news

I get itsuno left and twt lowkey is all gloomy (I'm a little sad too) but I'm excited and interested to see what he'll cook up next. As for the series I'm ofc not sure we'll get a sixth but considering dmc v had a lot of popularity compared to the previous games I have a little hope Capcom won't abandon it. I also think dmc will gain some more popularity with the upcoming anime and renew interest in the series. I would love to see a new game but if it happens to be left alone, I think five has a good open ending.

Null is not Aware. in general. However funny as that answer is this really did make me think so I'll try to answer it real style too shdhds

Null doesn't remember anything before the last 2 years or remember how they came about. Someone existed prior to that, now that person does not exist in living memory anymore, and Null is-not in her place. I don't think it has a concept of its age...? Since it only recently has developed a concept of being a thing that is alive, due to having been killed before. Null has very little internal dialogue that doesn't surround the feeling of hunger and emptiness and schemes to fill it, and no sense of identity to speak of outside of that, so the sense of being abnormal compared to most humans doesn't register with them much. However, by now they've probably realized that most people have a birthday and parents and a childhood, and from very early on they realized people like it when they appear to be like Most People.

So, if you asked Null about its background, you'd probably get a patched together mix of the information of others that it's heard and filed away. It wouldn't take an especially careful ear to realize that none of it adds up. References to moving from the Surface at age 18 clash with anecdotes of living in the Neath as a child, and if pressed for an age you'd swear you heard tell of a birthday party they hosted with a number that exceeded the one they just gave you. If you are positioned to be talking to Null, you are probably either too polite or too disinterested to pry. ...Or too confused. Most likely too confused.

(...or it will make you want to talk to them more to find out what's going on. Bad idea, overall.)

After finishing my 3.5 hour medical OSHA training yesterday at work, the hub has soooooo many violations. Dear lord. Owen has never followed OSHA in his life. Not one sharps bin in sight
